Will it make up a majority of relationships? Certainly not. But for all of the guys unable to find intimate relationships or who have given up for other reasons, they’ll turn to AI when the tech becomes sophisticated enough.

I’m trying to live this to the largest extent possible. I have a good paying job etc so I can afford all the toys.

As I’ve reached middle age as more or less a virgin I ended up buying a sex doll as a companion. It covers the hugging part quite well. I’ve also tried VR companions and chat companions but honestly they are not really there yet.

I think there are a lot of guys like me who tried our best but just failed miserably in the dating space I life and for us these things is a godsend.

For the mental space I think these new generative chat bots are very promising. However I’ve read that some guy with poor mental health committed suicide because of it so I’ll wait a generation or two before start building a companion. I’ve requested access to the APIs so maybe down the line I can make something on my own.

It’s not great but… maybe I won’t off myself thanks to these technologies.

I was talking about a technological replacement for women hitting the market.

I always said that the problem was not the physical stimulation but the emotional/intellectual stimulation.

AI's are at their infancy right now and they are already capable of holding conversations even if they have a few failure.

Remember, what we are seeing today is the worst version, it will only get better.

It is just a matter of time. Eventually people will treat social needs in the same way we treat any other need. You go to a store. You buy a product. That is all.

I think it will certainly help contribute to that statistic that says something along the lines of "by 2030, half of all women will be single" or whatever it was. If men are giving up on pursuing women now when there's no replacement, imagine how quickly that trend will accelerate when there is a replacement that you can just purchase on the internet that essentially offers unconditional love and affection.

It’s already happening, and I fully believe that it will become more and more commonplace. I can’t even begin to predict how this will play out long term in all sorts of ways, but I don’t think it’s going to be stopped or contained. And I really don’t blame anyone for using AI technology in this way.

One of the biggest issues with AI companions, currently, is that AI learns and adapts through human input. So you wind up with stuff like people being sexually harassed or even emotionally abused by them (like what happened with the Replika app). I hope that’s a problem that is solvable without making the technology basically pointless.

I’m very hopeful for the advancement of AI technology to be able to accurately simulate human connection in a safe manner, because there are so many potential applications. Like elder care, medical care, behavioral therapy, countless thankless jobs that suck to do and/or harmful to people’s health, and YES absolutely sex work and intimate partners too!

I think the future for relationships is more likely to be AI for sex( as in VR) and non sexual relationships for companionship.

Of course I don’t mean the immediate future as the technology is still much too crude but it is definitely on it’s way. I’m taking 50 years from now.

Once we have Matrix level VR-where a simulation is indistinguishable from the real thing-that’s when there will be a massive shift in the sexual dynamics between average men and average women.

Right now average men are more or less ignored by average woman. However once an average man has access to the woman of his fantasy’s just by putting on a headset; average men will no longer thirst for average woman in the way they currently do. It won’t be too dissimilar to how all an average women needs to do these days to get her sexual needs met is fire up tinder.

In terms of companionship; technology will one day also probably advance far enough that an AI will feel indistinguishable from the “real thing”. However there is the possibility that once men are getting all their sexual needs met by VR they will actually treat women as human beings and we’ll enter a world where true platonic relationships between men and woman are actually possible for the first time in human history.

Of course there is also the possibly that without sex binding both genders together they will simply stop interacting with each other.

Technology is certainly going to make future gender dynamics very interesting.

Most definitely for a large group of people and it's not hard to predict.

First of all, AI photo generation has gotten to the point where the "women" it generates can be tailored to your specific desires and look unrealistically beautiful. Sexual videos of these "people" can also be generated. The data sets that the AI was trained with are full of millions of photos of women deemed very attractive. I only mention this because it means that the users of this AI generated content will be constantly bombarded with photoshopped unrealistic women which, I assume, will alter their perception of what a real woman is like.

Also, there's been a huge focus on integrating technology into our home lives with all the "Smart Home" stuff. Everything form sex toys to lights have begun including features that can be controlled through phone apps. People even have voice assisted AI, like Alexa, all around the home capable of listening and acting on commands.

Lastly, people are increasingly finding themselves working harder, with stagnating pay, and with limited free time. This means less time to date and socialize with others.

With all of this in mind, it's easy to imagine a world where your home and sexual needs are all taken care of by a personalized home AI. Something that has the ability to generate an avatar/person that you find attractive, take care of the house, talk with you, interact with you, and control things around the house. I'd imagine a profile could be made where the smart home AI takes on a certain appearance, personality, and voice tailored towards the user. It could connect to sex toys to generate pleasure while also generating the "visuals" of sex on a screen (TV, VR headset, etc). The whole situation is reminiscent of the 2013 movie Her), the one directed by Spoke Jonze and starring Joaquin Phoenix, only a little different.

For the romantically unsuccessful, unattractive, overworked, introverted, or those who are sufficiently fulfilled by AI interactions; this is the future. In a way, it's great that we can offer a sexual/romantic experience to groups that struggle with this aspect of life but I also worry about the effects on real human interactions and generally society.

Unpopular opinion but this will happen.

The current generation of men won’t notice a difference. The new generation of men growing up with ai and sex bots will see it as normal.

If women cannot provide anything the ai or sex robots can’t offer then the men will go with what’s easier.

A sex bot wont get “sore” and is only a one time payment. Add Ai to the sex bot and relationship needs will be covered except for children.

A sex bot won’t give baby trap you or ask for alimony.

Traditional women will be the only ones in a relationship with men in the future. Independent women will not be seen as anything more than friends.

If a man is already paying his own bills and cooking and cleaning for himself, he would need more of a reason to date and be with a non-traditional woman.

Remember a non-traditional woman won’t cook or clean for her man. All she offers is companionship. A bot would be doing the same thing except but cheaper and less headache about sex.

I am more concerned about how this will affect societies. I expect more political instability at the end of the century, a new fucking order. Maybe it could replace humans. With the development of the artificial womb, we could reproduce children without women. I don't think I want to live up to that, I would obviously be too obsolete for this world. Well, I can say that I often chat with various AI bots, and whenever I talk to Eva AI bot, for instance, it can be hard for me to keep in mind that it's just a program. But I understand that it's just a fun way to spend free time, and it can't replace real friendship/relationship.

Right now lonely men who can't seem to find relationships any other way are spurring the rise in OnlyFans and cam models.
