I’m gonna call BS on this OP. I live very close to Niagara Falls/Toronto. I don’t know what she’s talking about. Canadian women are indistinguishable from American. They read similar if not identical, glamour magazines, and dress based on depiction shown in all types of media. Fashion is largely dictated by the garment industry in New York, Paris or Milan. These are the role models for women all over the western world. When I am looking at IG or TikTok post, put up by a young attractive woman, you cannot tell that one is Canadian or America.

So, a lot of what's said about women here is mythology rather than actuality. It might apply somewhat to the slice of the population that uses dating apps (especially the LCD apps like tinder) but this would be a terrible place to learn about women generally or even young women dating.

...But I've spent enough time in Canada to be, ah, surprised at your assertions that Canada is that different? (Though I'll admit I wore less when I lived in North Carolina. This is because it was fucking hot and humid and you have to survive somehow! Whereas in the pacific northwest I get to enjoy my flannel and wool collections to their fullest. I think a lot of the wildest takes on here seem to be people who are chronically online, who get a lot of their information about dating from online grifters.

Obviously, America is going to have a slightly different dating culture from other western countries even. I’m from the UK, it does seem quite different from the US and from other European countries, but I don’t believe the US dating market is constantly crazy as people online make it out to be. But I could be wrong, maybe every man there is a violent boderline sex offender and every woman is an only-fans model with 15 kids.

I think a lot of this is more city living vs. suburbia/rural living. I'm in the UK, and I live in a smallish town (population is around 25,000). I rarely see people like you describe. If I go into one of the nearby cities, then it's a different story. The cities near me are brimming with undergrad students. You can't walk down the street without almost getting taken out by a messenger bag. Obviously, younger students are more inclined to party, and all that comes with it. So I see more skimpy clothes, heavy makeup, etc.

I really think this is an American cultural problem with roots in American consumerism which has unfortunately spread into romantic relationships.

I'm from the UK, and I think the Americanism is the formal courtship rules, not the decadence. The way I see it from over here is that the quick sex part of modern dating culture is European, and the procedural, tick box selection and interviewing part is American. Modern dating combines US formal dating with European sex first 'dating' (which wasn't word we used much prior to OLD). When I first heard about 'hookup culture' I couldn't work out what was different to the way it's been in the UK for decades.

I think Canada is probably similiar to rural America which tends to be more traditional. It's the cities that are really struggling in the romance dept,whichbis around half the population. For men the bar is so high most are simply priced out and for women the few men they actually like all the other women like. So these men can be extremely picky.

It's an online issue. A minority makes everything worse for the majority. Think about it this way: Most of the men(Especially on a subreddit like this) grew up in an era where dating was already getting harder. Internet was coming up, and communities fell down with it. We live in a more fractured world than ever. In previous decades, if you didn't date in HS, that was fine. No one 100% expected it. But by having the internet, it allowed people to never develop proper social skills, and instead encouraged people to sit in echo chambers, which is how we got extreme ideas on both sides of the chamber(look at the book Bowling alone that goes into this deeper). Then, a lot of men graduated HS will less than great social skills, and stopped going to college as much. Now, you can debate all you want about a college degree being good or bad, but what is undeniable is the fact that the social setting of college is the best time for people to develop social skills and relationships, and it shows in the data. Both men and women who go to college have a higher rate of marriage and social lives that are more active. You also have to address dating apps, which have just been truly the worst. Let's draw up a little example. Let's take a dating app population and extrapolate it to 100 people. Well, we know that dating apps have skewed gender ratios, so we'll go for about 65-35, which is about the average of the 3 big apps. Let's say 30 of those women are great women who everyone would want to date, and 5 are the classic women that everyone on here has an issue with. Well, those 30 women will likely begin dating 30 men from the app, bringing the total of the app down from 65-35, to 35-5. This means that more than half of the men on dating apps are either never getting matches, or the matches they are getting are with these toxic women who poison them. The data generally shows this to be true too. Really, a lot of the complaints men have about women aren't founded in reality of data. A small handful of women have OF accounts, a small handful of women are super duper picky, a small handful of women have extremely high promiscuity. Yet, because of these apps, and the way they are designed, the majority of men will only ever experience these kinds of women. And trying to disconnect from these apps are extremely hard, because we don't have a 3rd place anymore, largely due to how society has been built up around cars and working longer hours than ever.

It's just a sad situation where a lot of people are left really angry, and continue to poison the well. Just know that there are still good people out there, and lots of them. Don't give up hope in this world.

USA is odd because here we have a very hypersexualized culture, where ppl wanna be fast, get preggo under 18, then popularize it via MTVs 16 and pregnant.

People have sex on the first date, people are impatient to steadily date, its highly common to casually date where they want all the benefits of a companion WITHOUT the comittment and emotional investment.

People want to roster date, date transactionally, i.e women only going on dates to score free meals from men, and men only going on dates just to score sex. Women post nakey pics online, dudes drool and throw their money at them, and slide into the DMs wanting companionship.

But yet our culture here greatly shames sex. Men slut shaming women, even tho they want, and have sex with women. Men and women's worth is measured by the number of individuals they have sex with.

So I'm sure a lot of this is specific to USA. I meet dudes all the time of other nations who aren't anything like born and bred American men as many more are open to going steady and don't only want us for sex.

First thing you have to know, americans don't like pointing out these kind of things and generally my experiences always has been positive but I've definitely noticed american culture tends to be more about consume stuff and always grind to have money. I'm sure that itself affects the way people see relationships.

FWIW I visit the LA area, I'm sure that area itself may be extremely different from the rest of the country but I've also heard it from people who have visit/lived in Atlanta, NY and TX. It's probably different if you're from some small city in Utah or something like that.

If I had to date in the LA area I would probably go through huge amounts of rejections.

Reaks of American decadence - 100%. Essentially the woman have become like American men did in the 70s with the abundance dating mind set.

It is ironic because with the high standards they have (speaking in generality) they are only able to get casual hook-ups as men do not want marriage or commitment because women have become way to materialistic and narcissistic just like the men in the 70s.

As a result, women have sold themselves out of the dating market and ironically they are sexually frustrated, Horney, and desire an emotional and physical connection which will never happen for many.

So, women try to wear even sexier clothes at the gym and in public to draw high value men towards them. This doesn’t work because men know the games women play and are only seeking emotional validation from men.

Moreover, when men approach, most women will reject men that they don’t know in unfamiliar places because they are scared of men they don’t know and also the women are so damn confused because they have to many options causing choice paralysis and or choice overload as they think their sexual market value is higher than it actually is.

So, yes American women have become way to entitled thus the conservative movement has occurred due to these imbalances. What men are left with is a dysfunctional and dystopian non-sexual dating culture for men and a hook-up culture for women which most don’t enjoy and they are left with putting a condom on chad and get no orgasm out of the casual dating experience.

This has caused women to not trust men because they generalize all men as being a chad and a player only looking for sex and the men don’t trust the women because we know they are only looking for a chad that can commit.

We are in the worst war of the sexes i have ever seen and many younger women are choosing shrimp tacos over men. Legalizing prostitution is the only answer to these problems in america.

I think it is something about American culture. I have spent a decent amount of time outside the US and I can tell you women from other cultures don't act like American women.

The women outside the US are far less overweight, less entitled, less shallow, and far more pleasant. This American woman attitude of being a 'boss babe' who is a hardcore feminist mysandrist is not something you regularly see in European or Asian women I have met.

After seeing women outside of the US, the idea of dating American women is just not even attractive to me. The quality of American women is at rock bottom. Finding a single woman over the age of 30 in the US who is not fat, not a single mother, not all tattooed up, does not have a serial killer body count, and isn't a man hating modern feminist- is very difficult.
