"Prefer" is not the right word to use here.

The reason you're seeing this is because men tend to lean conservative more than women do. And a large chunk of women don't mind dating someone who is little more conservative than she is. Or maybe she is just not super political minded to begin with. In an ideal world, most people would choose someone who agrees with them politically because it affects values and the way you raise your children.

This highly depends on factors like religious affiliation. Religious vs. not religious are basically completely separate landscapes that work differently in the U.S. and it goes underacknowledged.

I find that a lot of religious women end up with men who are further to the right than them. I didn't want that for myself personally and actually ended up with a man who is also religious and even more left-leaning than I am. But I also recognize that I was looking for a unicorn, the further to the left you get with men the less likely you are to find the traditional values like waiting until marriage.

I also think it's important to note that while you might see secular women with more conservative partners these conservative guys are generally not tradcons who expect her to attend church every Sunday. Those types marry their own for the most part. It's when you start getting to those cases of conservatives who aren't serious about religion that you see more variety in the political beliefs of their partners.

My man is more liberal than me and is more bothered than I am that we don't align 100% on politics. I think more liberal people worry they are with an unethical person compared to right wingers.

No. The days of casual political disagreements are behind us.

For example, if your political views include beliefs that some people are more deserving than others of basics like food, water and shelter, then not only do our politics not align, but our core beliefs and values are diametrically opposed.

People are entitled to their own beliefs, of course. I just don't want anything to do with people I perceive to be morally bankrupt.

I'm on Okcupid and most guys have "if you voted X don't bother". So political preference isn't a woman thing, it's a people thing. I'd personally never date someone that's not on the left side of politics.

I think generally speaking guys just happen to be more to the right of women.

So if a woman wants to date a hetero male, the pool of right-leaning or conservative-minded dudes is larger. If she doesn’t want that sort of dogma or attitude, then her pool of male partners to choose from is dramatically reduced.

IMObservation the tenets of conservatism overlap fairly heavily with the tenets of masculinity. So if you’re dating a “masculinity is my everythingggg” basic bro Joe Rogan-loving guy or a edgelord-leaning myopically pedantic libertarian/objectivist Reddit type… then he’s prolly to the right of ya.

So nah. That worldview isn’t my preference in a romantic life partner. It’s just the heterosexual male archetype that’s most prevalent.

Men are by & large to the right of women in the same circles on the political spectrum but I have never met a single communist, socialist or anarchist lad who was single unless it’s by choice & I’ve been on the far left over a decade.

Only conservative women actually prefer conservative men. However, there are more right-leaning men than women, and most women will tolerate some level of political disagreement. That’s what you’re seeing here.

I have also noticed conservative men are more romantically successful than my liberal guy friends. Pretty much all my liberal guy friends are incels. There are only a couple exceptions. One of the most alt right men I know has no problem being himself (retarded) and getting annoying liberal feminist women to date him/want to marry him. At least they are the attractive ones. It blows my mind out of all the conservative men they date that he is the one the select.

I prefer conservative men because I find they are all around better people and liberals tend to be more manipulative. They are basically feminist for pussy or too soy to have their own opinions. Every time a guy tries to compete with my husband they are liberal cucks. One told me that monogamy was something men invented to control women’s sexuality and that it was a violation of womens bodily autonomy for a husband to expect monogamy out of his spouse…

Personally, no. If he's not hip to a lil bit of anarcho-communism, I'm not interested.

But my social sphere is full of socialist, filthy commies, and over-educated college liberals; all married or have "life partners".

I would have to go out of my way (and my geographical location) to find a conservative leaning man, and I have zero desire to interact with those kinds of men.

Me and my husband are pretty aligned on policies and economics but he is more socially conservative in some ways and definitely less idealistic. I'd say guys who are more conservative are more likely to have traits women find attractive, which explains the trend you're seeing.

Like willingness to take on responsibility, being very grounded/realist, conscientiousness, being a provider and protector. Not saying liberal men can't be these things, just that those traits are more common for conservative men.

Also. with conservative men, what you see is what you get a lot of the time, they wear their flaws on their sleeves more. Liberal guys are more of a mixed bag, some are genuinely amazing people and others seem amazing at first but are actually more manipulative with no accountability.

Men are just going to be to the right of me regardless. As one feminist thinker put it: "men are liberal from the waist up".

The left is about uplifting the oppressed classes, and as an oppressor class, men will just never really be able to have see liberalism the same way as women do, likewise with any other oppressor/oppressed group.

That doesn't mean all women are left: of course not. Most are likely either center or right (there are two ways to fight oppression: be a "pick-me" and turn on your fellow oppressed, to try to win the oppressor's favour, or fight against the oppression as a group). But being more left than his girlfriend will put that man at a disadvantage to her, so generally, when a woman sees a man who she thinks is her level of left, he's likely actually more right and playing up the left a bit.

This is also why there is a stereotype of those whiteknight "male feminist" types, of men who play off as super feminist and woman-powered and whatnot, but if you actually talk to him for like five minutes, you learn that he's a raging asshole who is just using "feminism" to get pussy, or so he has an excuse to be cruel to women he deems against his cause. The most liberal, nonbinary, "feminist" men I know have made more creepy and misogynistic jokes to or around me than I've ever heard the average centrist man say.

My husband is significantly left of me on most issues actually, and honestly he drives me nuts with politics sometimes. I love that he is empathetic, and his bleeding heart is in the right place. I don’t care that much as long as the guy isn’t some Christian nationalist twinky.
