There were smaller incidents in between. Most women I know have similar stories of being harassed from 8-14 for the first time.

I read a post on a different forum ages ago about a woman who noticed her 9 year old being stared at by old men, her husband didn’t believe her. She said to take the daughter out shopping and have her walk in front to get something or pretend to go back to the car for something and walk slightly behind her for a while, he did and noticed she was stared at by men, they would even turn around to stare at her. Many women posted with similar experiences of it happening to them and their daughters at very young ages.

They didn't care, and that is scary to think about. I would tell them the truth about my age thinking it would make them leave me alone but it didn't.
