I've never gotten that question. But, you can tell when a woman is interested in how much you make because she'll talk about her expensive habits and elaborate vacations.

I live and will continue to live well below my means. But, I have several expensive hobbies that allude to my personal finances. When I've had women at my place they're visibly confused about how my hobbies and current living conditions don't correlate.

I'm not a slob and I don't live in a poor area, I could easily upgrade my living space and deck it out, but I'd rather put that money into recreation.

60K a year is nothing to sneeze at. While it is not living the life of luxury, it makes for a comfortable living with a proper budget. Perhaps it might not get you very far in large and expensive cities, but that is a different topic altogether (as well as 6 figures not getting as much bang for your buck in those same areas).

It was not as if it was her business anyways how much he makes. There was no real winning move to the question "how much do you make" when you are just meeting a woman. You already know exactly what kind of woman she is for asking that question before there is even a relationship. It is just a matter of finding out if she sees you as a mark or beneath her. Also, I would love to know what she thinks she will be doing in her future that makes her feel so smug as to turn down a guy. I have no issue with her working at Taco Bell, we do need those jobs to be done and that kind of work experience is something that is good for character building. I can think of a couple of quite innocuous tests to screen out FDS users:

1/ Set the wallpaper on your phone to a picture of a pretty girl in a bikini. Something G rated that most sane women wouldn't bat an eyelid at. To an FDS fan, this is a clear sign you're a "porn addict".

2/ If you go out to a restaurant or similar, order something for yourself that is modest sized and inexpensive. Mention you don't normally have a big appetite and how you've already spent more on food this week than normal. An FDS user will see this as evidence you're "cheap" - an inexcusable sin in men.

I get the impression FDS ladies are big eaters too. Women in general feel uncomfortable being seen to eat more than men. She'll be worried that she'll have to reduce how much she orders for herself at restaurants if she goes out with you.
