The most important lesson I’ve learned from my 1 and only marriage is that MEN have full control of the relationship BEFORE marriage and after you are hitched WOMEN are in total control of your financial/emotional/everything stability. If there be any man willing to take personal responsibility in learning how to define the woman you want, how to date her, how to understand her, how to keep a healthy relationship with her, and/or just how to become a better man in general, I PLEAD with you all to read this book: "How To Be A 3% Man" by Corey Wayne After my wife left and did some of the most coldest sh*t imaginable (like trying to screw a random co-worker she brought home one night directly below "our" bedroom), I was spireling out of control when I found his book. I can honestly say it's changed my life for the better as well as changed my perspective on women forever. At first it showed me what MY part in the marriage failing was (not blame shifting, just things I did or didn't do along with things I could have done differently) and it even made me think had I read this book years prior that maybe my marriage might not have failed. As I kept reading, it made me realize all the red flags I should have seen before we got married and honestly, if I had read it early enough, I wouldn't have even married her in the first place. You've got nothing to lose by reading this book and I guarantee you, if you apply the principles taught in that book, you'll have a better understanding of women and have a better life than before. 😁

I’m sure the same reason most of us do. We’re having a great time with our GFs, awesome sex, and they want to get married and we know if we don’t it’ll fizzle out and lose this awesome GF, so we ‘lock it in’

Of course, we were going to lose that GF anyway. This just delays it.

Three years later, things were back the way they were with my first. Now being 50 years old and much wiser, I'll never do it again. It's critical with my current LTR or any future one... no marriage. Also, hard pass on any sub college age (home) kids, been there done that. I think marriage is poison to relationships (I understand the for the kid necessity, but kids are also hard on relationships in the long run). Like someone said above, so few marriages are actually happy. Everyone stays-motivated or moves-on until marriage gets involved.

I will never get married again unless there’s something for me to gain. Whether that be with her money to combine and build wealth together (houses etc.) or if she comes from a wealthy family where I can get a dowry. Not interested in taking care of another woman financially again.

Depends on the guy though. My parents are poor losers that can't even pay to have a used car. And my job is..ok but I'd literally walk right out the door the second I could if I got a windfall. Some dudes have great families and/or pretty cool jobs to keep them going. Got to have something to look forward to. "Well she might leave like the 1st one". All love ends eventually. Either through death or boredom.

Second wife had an affair and disappeared with a 24 year old guy (she's 30) who was her 'supervisor' at first job she ever had after I spent tons on her resolving medical issues and other stuff and taking care of her while recovering.

Moving on to my 3rd wife now.
