Since females are generally the pickier sex and determine when sex happens, our “just biology” preferences are more important than men’s. They are the true dealbreakers.

Guys sometimes complain that it’s unfair for women to have height preferences but normal for men to have weight or hip-to-waist preferences, since those are at least changeable. But by the “it’s just biology!” argument, it’s even more reasonable for women to have hard height cut offs precisely because they are immutable.

Men love to use “it’s just logic, sweaty!” but be prepared to be smattered with his brain bits from his exploding head if you use the same arguments lol

I have never met a bitter short/ unattractive guy who wasn't constantly chasing very conventionally attractive women who have 5000 x more options than them

They're just pissed they don't meet those womens standards and theres too many men outcompeting them as most men are delusional and think they're deserving of model looking women with little to offer

Because men are used to women not voicing the fact that we also have physical standards and preferences. If I had a pound for every post from a man whining about women’s height requirements on Reddit, I would be a millionaire. Meanwhile, all the women they drool over in certain subreddits tend to be slim, white, and tonedMen tend to complain about women’s physical standards when they don’t meet them. It’s a classic case of sour grapes.

Men also love to say that discriminating based on height is the same as discriminating based on weight. But that’s a false equivalence. Firstly, you are allowed to not date/sleep with someone for ANY reason whatsoever. Dating is a discriminatory process by design. You’re not shallow for having physical standards. Secondly, it actually makes more sense to discriminate on a standard that someone can’t change like height. Someone can always lose weight, but a man who is 5’4 will never be 6’4.

It’s because men teach each other to see themselves as the subject and see women as objects. A thing, an object, does not have have preferences. They get to pretend that it never occurred to them that there might be characteristics about them that some or all women would find unattractive.

I’m tall for a woman and I wear my hair short. I’m aware that those are not characteristics that every man is into. I am aware of other ways that I am physically attractive, and I cultivate the ones that I most identify with. Unfortunately many men only listen to what a culture of masculinity tells them is attractive, rather than what women in all of our variations like.

I’m texting with a man who’s 6’3”. I am 5’10”. I’m sure he and “all men” on the internet would be very confused to find that’s a mark in the minus column on this man in my head— I don’t like looking that far up at a man. I prefer right around my height, ideally slightly taller.

For example, I went on a few dates with a guy who was like "both partners should be able to ask for whatever they want in bed and the other should oblige" (more or less, i forget his exact wording) ... which to me basically means he gets whatever he wants b/c I don't think there would be anything I could ask for he wouldn't be willing to do. And, even if what he wants is totally within bounds it still feels gross to me that this would be the expectation. Like I can't say no?

The race thing is prevalent in Middle Eastern and South Asian culture too. Let me just say that I’m talking about guys living here in the West, not back home lol. Middle Eastern men mostly all have a preference for blonde European women and explicitly state not being interested in middle eastern girls then I always notice that South Asian men have a preference for Middle Eastern women. As a Middle Eastern, I prefer a Middle Eastern man. And this has nothing to do with their race at allllll. That is the narrative: Women are there for being beautiful, they are there to be visually and sexually consumed by men, mostly care about being beautiful (and are actually heavily conditioned to do so). Men who bring that up do not recognise our equal autonomy as human beings and our right to choose partners and simply don't understand why they can't choose the woman they want as they would a car or some other product. They are frustrated by the fact that attraction needs to be reciprocated and consent is needed, and they cling onto height because it'd something they cannot control and it makes it seem like women have unreasonable standards. The truth is that for most women, even with height preferences, we would compromise on that if the man showed himself to be HV in other ways, but that's too much work. It's much easier to tell yourself the reason women won't date you is because you're 5"7 and not because of some actual character or personality flaw.

Men need to realize that the issue about height preference is not universal, and that they are telling on themselves and waving their red flags by always complaining about women liking taller men. Like I don’t care, but him being defensive and rude is now an immediate turn-off.

While I certainly find height attractive, I have dated men who are under 6 feet without issue. I’m 5’5”, so I’m not a tall woman by any means (statistically average for women), but if a man is confident at his height then I don’t really care- plus at some point I feel like a man can be too tall for me.

I will say height can be an attractive trait, but that doesn’t mean all tall men are automatically hotter than a good looking man who is under 6’. I’m currently seeing a guy who is 5’10”, and I honestly couldn’t have guessed his height because I don’t care. He’s taller than me lol.

I am unapologetic about my preferences, but they usually aren’t appearances based. I honestly feel like I don’t have a “type”. I’ve dated guys shorter, much taller, athletic, skinny, average, morbidly obese, bald, long hair, clean shaven, facial hair, body mods, rich, poor and of several different ethnicities. I enjoy that I don’t have a physical type for men because it does open up more prospects however it leaves me open to many more men in general which is a problem in and of itself.

I do have strict preferences elsewhere though where I weed em out.
