I’ve wondered about a women’s supporting men’s right page(Women for Men’s rights), that would be like a “partner” page with this one. So it could establish a bigger women’s audience and discussion and then it would tie into this page. So they support one another.. since there isn’t a big platform or things out there for why Women support Men’s rights.. and also what and how women face these things, with other women. To help break the stigma of “every man is the same”.

One thing about women, they like to have their own space and groups for them. (But it would also be open and intertwined with the main page here. To help build connection and strengthen the community as a whole) So why not have that and use it as a tool to encourage and educate.. you attract more bees with honey so to speak

Honestly would be interested on hearing the thoughts of the men in here, on this. What your opinions on something like that would be.

I used to be one, so let me explain my perspective. It is mostly not being associated with the "oppressors".

My parents did not have the best relationship and growing up I always felt that my father was responsible. I did not want to grow up being the person that caused my mom to cry.

Turned out that I simply lacked relationship experience with women. After being in relationships for multiple years, and trying hard to be the guy who gives happiness to women, I slowly got frustrated. It was my father who dragged me out of my depression with a simple "my happiness matters".

I just realized in a blink of an eye the games women play. Again, I know "not all women", but a lot of them including my mother.

I know a lot of men never break out of the cycle of putting partner happiness first even when no reciprocation happens.

Modern feminism has nothing to do with equality. It has nothing to offer men and it’s damaging to children and society as whole. In less than 30 seconds, I found one poster who confidently states that: ‘being a misandrist could never be as bad as being a misogynist’. This is on a post where a woman doesn’t know how to get over her hatred of men, after studying sociology and living the life she’s lived.

These people don’t want constructive discussions. They want validation for their bigotry. They’re on a one way ticket to RedWine-&-Catsville.

There are plenty of good women out there who value us as much as we value them. Leave the crazies to their echo chambers.

There are some insecure boys here who have to believe men are better than women at technical pursuits. For example, a user here said (seriously) that there isn't a career where women are better than men. Like, you really can't imagine a setting in which women might be preferable to a customer? Even excluding sex work, plenty of careers are going to be more rewarding to women and thus they will be more passionate. There's a reason you dont see tons of men working at kids daycare centers. Men and women are different and that's ok. Trying to push for some notion of "better" just smacks of insecurity, immaturity, and supremacy. Feminists constantly say this shit about men, of course. I think feminism works because it doesn't have a clear definition of what it is and how to achieve their goal but most feminists will vehemently fight any criticism towards them event if warranted which makes it hard to follow and agree with. I mean, in my opinion it's extremely complicated, but it can basically boil down to "because the mainstream culture says to" - it's not the case for all of the men with this mindset, but I think most of them are merely decent but deeply misguided people. The influence the mainstream culture has over the general populace can't be understated.

Also, most men want sex, and most social groups demand adherence to the mainstream cultural/social ideals for entrance & long-term acceptance. As a result, I think it's easy to see why many young men would be more likely to deny the reality of Men's Rights in exchange for greater social acceptance and thus access to potential partners - it's just natural instinct for us.

Then, the young men grow up to be older men, and they simply carry those ideals forward, guarded by positive past experience & cognitive dissonance. They'll probably hold those beliefs forever to a degree, as long as they never experience anything that causes them to question them.

Probably because just like with feminism, there are divides within the sphere, so opponents need only look at select pieces taken from those who forward certain views to form that opposition, but it’s a difficult thing to say whether they represent the movement wholly. Nonetheless for the purposes of their opposition, it gives them enough reason to oppose the general label.

Like with feminism, the same happens. Whether there are moderate feminists who are fixated on gender equality as MRAs understand it is irrelevant; that there exist enough self-identified feminists who seem to take things further, is enough for them to view feminism, in a nutshell, as “the opposition”. You get this within every group.

So it goes here. With MRA you have a lot of schisms. You have MGTOW who suggest that the best thing for men to do is basically “quit” interacting with half the planet. You have black pills who believe there is no solution. You have tradcons who believe that men just need to reaffirm their traditional roles harder, and the problem is society itself. You have redpill who believe that men need to “clue up” on society’s workings, “level up” and then they can “beat women at their own game” so to speak. Kinda like tradcons but mixed with hustle culture.

That’s a lot of variation. I mean I consider myself a supporter and advocate of men’s rights but I generally reject the redpill message. I see them as advocating for men to lock themselves into very narrow social roles, roles which are problematic and don’t serve to free men from any of the burdens of gender stereotyping, with the promise that “if they do it for themselves and not women” it will make them happier - yet the movement as a whole still seems focused on defining men’s success along very narrow lines: if you can get rich, get women and get fit them you’re a proper man. They talk a lot about “normal invisible men” but offer them nothing beyond a vague promise that hitting the gym and hustling will solve all their problems (note; in a capitalist society it is NOT possible for all of the average men to ascend to the financial level being touted here so they give this advice knowing that for many of these guys it won’t work)

My stance is gender stereotypes are bad for men. Including those tradcons and redpills cling to. As such I consider their advice detrimental to the realisation of men’s rights. The main disparity between feminism and MRA is that feminism has (largely) divorced women’s value from any form of gender essentialism or particular behaviours, and MRA will never catch up so long as a significant portion of the sphere is banging on about how men need to “hit the gym, make money, be successful” to be truly happy. Society has gone too far down the postmodern rabbit hole for this idea of one gender being free from gender roles, whilst the other clings to them, to work.

And let me be clear, it is not just tradcons and redpills who keep these ideas alive, it is also many women and even some feminists (where holding men to these values benefits them).

In my opinion the only sensible way forwards is the complete annihilation of gender stereotypes in all forms. It’s the only thing that makes sense in a western society where women have basically cast theirs off. There is no world where you will somehow get these western women to agree to back to acting in a limited capacity, just so men and continue playing by their own limited capacity. No way on earth. The sensible thing therefore is to concentrate focus on freeing men from these gender stereotypes but with so many gender essentialists in the MRA sphere who believe men “must” behave in certain ways, that’s a significantly uphill battle before you even consider opponents outside the group itself.

And this is just me. You’re gonna have others in the MRA sphere who totally disagree with me. It only takes an outside viewer to disagree with one of us to then determine that “MRA isn’t for me” regardless of what the other one says, so long as we’re both claiming to be supporting MRA.

I love some members of this sub for being rational. When a woman once asked how she can help, one highly upvoted comment said, think for yourself, don't fall into any ideology including the one we seem to be pushing and I loved it.

But, apart from many interactions like this, I think people here would still behave the same way the feminists would behave if someone question with their ideology. Women are also concerned about equality, such as shared maternity leave (yes, I’m from Scandinavia), shared custody etc., but I have only seen posts or comments here assume the opposite to fit the narrative of “feminism is not about equality”.

Alot of women were banned or blocked from feminist subreddit during kia/gamergate.

I disliked this sub cause often the posts are either conservative middle aged dude spitting right-wing rhetoric, or a pick me ranting about why she likes men so hates feminism, when it really should be a sub where men support each other and brainstorm ways to protect themselves from discrimination.

But to be fair, this sub is A LOT better than it used to be, a lot of good informative articles are being shared and it’s way less politically biased than a couple years ago.

Also, personally I think we need a men only sub instead of inviting more women here, men are not welcome in women only spaces, so why do we welcome them? I know it’s not ideal and counter-egalitarian but, we’re in 2023 and it’s not gonna change, so what we can do is give them a taste of their own medicine.

They have to feel strong and powerful, if they start to feel like something is wrong than suddenly they are weak and useless. Their filled with an legitimate example of toxic masculinity in the fact that they believe their entire worth is dependent on providing for women. They think of women as these saints and that men are only deserving of being in the presence of women of men produce something for women. So if that system is corrupt or their confronted with men who don’t believe that way and are vocal about it, it confuses them and scares them. They suddenly feel like their less valuable and instead of getting a reality check they just start hating this sub. Their jealous of us because our worth has nothing to do with women while theirs does.

The best way to fix this is to help men realize their self worth independently of women in any capacity

Men don't hate the concept of Men's rights, they hate the whining that feminist are to blame for our ( men) problems. Men's rights is a must conversation. Lots of conversations.

I may not have too much room to talk but I got banned from twoxchromosones, they don't want points of views. Especially logical. I was never vulgar or rude.

I myself am personally fine with it, as I think the men's rights movement deserves public recognition and acceptance by the larger body society; however- I, and many others, have noticed how a large part of this sub's time is dedicated to complaining about women, more than it is dedicated to uplifting men. When I scroll through feminist subreddits, they are barely focused on slandering men, and if they are, it's usually a small portion of them which actually deserve criticism. Not to say there aren't bad apples, as there are on both sides, but nonetheless- it's much less of an issue on those subs than it is over here. You can explain this in any way you want, and make of it what you will, but if you were asking why, then this is probably it.

Because the entire men's rights movement is stacked on the belief that women are currently equal to men legally and that the only way to stop "feminine fascism" is to start removing women's rights.

In the mean time this sub is also ignoring the many stated introducing new laws that remove women's rights to control their bodies.

Often times things that get a lot of upvotes are just calling for abuse. Which in turn polorizes everyone into "us vs them" I love checking in too see positive masculinity but 2X is not going to be the place to find it.

I wouldn’t say I hate this subreddit. It’s one of the few subs with socio-political commentary that’s not heavily moderated or quick to ban folks. For that I’m grateful.

I’m personally very critical of “Men’s Rights Advocates”. Many of their ideas are based upon poorly represented statistics or a worldview that’s clearly ignorant of how women and minorities exist in the USA. And the leaders of the movement are all pretty much misogynistic grifters who get 15 minutes of fame before they are exposed as the charlatans they are, or they quietly retire as a podcaster spouting the same boring rhetoric.

I am a man, the rights and disadvantages of men are near and dear to my heart. I’m entirely dependent upon those rights to exist and thrive, and like all of you I’ve felt the pain or overcome the disadvantages we all share. But I am a feminist, and have found feminism to be the only set of ideals that truly wishes to abolish the root cause of the problems men have. I know many of you disagree with this, but when you learn things and see the world as it is, I cannot I learn or unsee these things.

Edit: This is a great example of why people probably hate this sub. You dorks try to run off anyone who doesn’t contribute to the red pill echo chamber. I’m not bothered by it, and I actually care about men’s rights so I’m not going anywhere.

Mainstream media constantly pushes drama and shows extremes of two sides. So now people are conditioned that if you are not fully into thing X, you must be in opposite place Y.

I am also surprised there are no more women here, their sons and husbands can be victims at any time. Just saying an unfortunate comment, ghosting a girl or asking her to pay her part of a bill can be the end of your life as you know it.

I think the reality of this is men and women have their confirmation biases and genuinely believe their gender has it worse. Because why wouldn't they? They don't experience what the other gender does.

Both "sides" fail to realise they're just as toxic as the gender they're complaining about, they're both hypocrites and both do the things they complain the other gender does.

There is no victim, there is no gender that has it worse off in the western world, only individuals. This gender bullshit is so counter productive as a race...

I'm not sure about TwoChromosomes, though. It really seems like one of the groups that will consider themselves threatened with MRA. Not a good place for descent information and considerations - only for debates, where pro-MRA always "lose" because of number of downvotes.

Imo there's quite a bit of toxicity here. There are some good posts but quite frequently the comments are filled with toxic generalizations and complaining about women. It's basically the same as what you see in the feminism sub, except with the genders reversed. One would think that the people here would see the toxicity in the feminism sub and set a higher standard, but that doesn't seem to happen.

I would recommend reading the comments in the threads posted since you posted this question- they are just as bad as the groups that people supposedly despise. The only difference is that at least the crazies in the other sites are able to see and admit that they “hate men”.

I want to be upfront and call out the fact that I am a woman. I realize that some folks do not want women here or commenting and others are OK with it. Regardless, I want to ensure I am not misrepresenting myself.

Recently, I saw posts stating and supporting messages that women are only good for sex in this sub.

But, for the most part, what I've seen here are endless posts opposing misandry, unfair treatment of men, and the hypocrisy of some feminists.
