Lol yes. Mine is high as hell, I've experienced very few consequences for that and they were all so minor I have to think hard to remember them at all. I've never lied about it -- but I could, very easily, if I wanted to.

I don't want to because one of the best things about having sex with a whole lot of people is the guys who won't date you because of it. It's not remotely hard to find the ones who dgaf and being able to filter for them is a feature, not a bug.

ETA: I find the downvotes interesting. I'm not an expert on this trope, but I always assumed the manic pixie dream girl was basically a manifestation of how all these lonely, nerdy male writers wish they were treated by women. So it naturally follows that she has an n-count of zero before she meets the protagonist, and somehow meeting him awakens her unbridled lust for the first time ever. After all, she exists only to be subservient to the hero and his journey. Her own character arc doesn't matter and never did, so why would she have had sex with anyone before him?

In real life, any girl I've met with manic-pixie-adjacent traits seemed to have a very "been there, done that" attitude toward anything sexual, which is indicative of an n-count through the roof. Manic pixie dream girl really seems to just be the Hollywood-idealized version of "I'm not like other girls". You don’t lose legal custody of your child over Facebook. It’s just personal information with very little to do with “safety” that really shouldn’t be revealed to tens of thousands of people as “tea”. You can lose other things though like your job and reputation to a mob mentality eager to confirm biases and assumptions, hence the “legal rights and the burden of proof are too inconvenient to me” vibes.

In season 6 of Love is Blind, Jessica was nervous to reveal she was a mom during the dating process. “I'm super nervous about how some of the guys are gonna receive that I have a child”. Prior to it getting broadcasted on TV, she had privacy on the matter and she got to choose how and when she brought that up as opposed to some disgruntled ex blasting her online to tens of thousands of gossip guzzlers.

How is it dumb? also why would it not help me?

It's in any potential partners interest that we share similar values, I've rejected girls for their sexual histories and I think that's fine. It's not like I'm shaming them, we're just different and I think it's better for both parties. Would you say women are dumb for having height preferences? or going for a guy for the money he makes? does it not help them?

I think it's much more reasonable for somebody to not want somebody that does casual hook ups, especially since most people don't, compared to valuing people over things they can't control, or their finances. It's actually statistically much more reasonable, humane and it can prevent relationships that are doomed to fail due to conflicting belief systems. Plus, people with promiscuous pasts are more likely to cheat.

I'm genuinely really confused, this truly seems like an area people aren't willing to approach maturely.

This thread can be summarised by my post a while ago; that Sex is the most intimate act, two people can share. To which the top reply was; that it was just my opinion. That same commenter, then used the example of being nursed back to health. As a far more intimate act. My retort then was; what objectively, is this the most intimate act two people can share? Nursing one another? Or deep friendship? An alignment in thinking? Mind, body, and soul? Caring for one another?

The primary reason for framing intimacy this way, is to clearly define parameters. Or, as I ran into in my post, can people not define intimacy objectively? Is sharing a meal, objectively on the same level as sharing an orgasm? If intimacy is different, to different people, can we not reach a consensus?

Conversely if sex is ‘just sex’, then are those that view sex in this manner viewing it at it’s most base level? All about ‘the nut?’ Are women who partake in casual sex, being used? Or because they too are getting ‘their nut’, empowered?

Obviously my viewpoint is stated above. Very interested to hear the views of others.

I take sex and my romantic relationships pretty seriously. I don't sleep with a woman unless we're in a relationship and have developed real feelings towards one another. I've had plenty of offers, but I've only been with two women and kissed three, all three of those were in relationships. And I'm near 30 years old now. Honestly, without the emotion and romantic aspect, I just don't have the WANT for sex without love in me. That being said, in a relationship, it's every day. Sometimes, multiple times a day. I love making the person I love feel good. There were times I'd be "giving" sexually without looking to "get" for myself.

I met a girl a little while ago. I started to really like her. We talked all the time, and I could feel myself starting to fall, and obviously, she felt the same way.

Then I found out that she had been in multiple threesomes, had sex with at least 30 people that I'd known about, and very likely more than that. A few friends even let me know they'd slept with her because they could see we were getting close and wanted to be open about it.

I instantly lost any desire to be with her romantically. We could be friends, but the thought of having sex with her became something I had no desire to do.

For me, given that I take sex to seriously and want to reserve it for people I have a special connection with, the thought of just giving it out so freely, as though it's nothing, is very off putting. It means a lot to me, I'd like it to mean a lot to the person I'm having it with also.

But outside of relationships, I don't much care what other people do. If you want to sleep with 10,000 people, go for it. We can still be friends, but that will make you a total non option for me. Which is fine. You shouldn't make decide what who you sleep with based on whether I would be in a relationship with you or not anyway. The same goes for any decision in your life.

It doesn't make you a BAD person, but it does make you someone I wouldn't want to be in love with, and that's okay. You shouldn't live in such a way as to please me.

If you're a person that sleeps with everything with a pulse and wants a partner that has less than 3 people, though, you're insane and I have to roll my eyes at that. It's hypocritical and ridiculous.

I actually don’t think it’s difficult to “grasp” what’s going on. Many men have an impulse, perhaps driven by an evolutionary process, to find women who’ve slept with other men disgusting. But for many men, it’s not enough to just avoid that individual woman. He also has to warn all other women that if they dare to enjoy sex with different men, they’ll become “used,” a “whore,” pick your favorite in vogue incel adjective or noun. These are not merely expressions of preferences, they are expressions of a view that a woman has fundamentally devalued herself as a person by having the gall to like sex and seek it out when she wants it. It’s a uniquely male compulsion to control and police women’s sexuality. All I want is for men who believe this to acknowledge it and stop playing the “it’s only about RMV” game.

The insults that offend are the exact insults that speak to societal views. If we didn’t have a history of devaluing people on the basis of race, the n-word would not be offensive. If society didn’t attach value to men for their sexual experience, being called an incel wouldn’t be offensive to anyone.

I think you hit the nail on the head, though, with your repeated insistence that having sex with a man is somehow a fundamentally different act than having sex with a woman. Many men view sex as an action during which women submit and are dominated. So if a woman has sex with a variety of men, she’s “allowed” herself to be “dominated” by other men, and is therefore “used.” That’s what I’m getting at with the sexual agency point.

The truth is that the vast majority of women don’t view sex that way. We view it as a mutual act, carried out on equal terms. The term "used" is not about domination/submission either. I used a toothbrush in the morning. I didn't dominate it. Ok you are just mixing everything at this point. This is a whole different story. Go ahead and put the word “incel” in the same category. It’s used by women (sometimes) to make men feel lesser than as people for not being able to get laid.

If a man expresses his preference for a virgin, fine. If, in the same breath, he calls high n count women “used,” “cum rag,” “slut,” “whore,” he’s not just expressing a “preference,” he’s trying to make women feel like their value as human beings is tied to the number of people they’ve slept with. Then you're an exception but there are lots of people with some sort of insecurity that would bother them if they found out their partner was with [x] type of person or had some specific experiences in their past. For instance, it bothered my ex how much sexual experience I had with a specific race of women because she was insecure about her experiences with them. I didn't care about my ex's N-count but it bothered me that she slept with a male friend to spite her ex because her ex was jealous of him while they were together. That didn't sit right with me and it felt like a nasty thing to do.

Both situations qualify as caring about someone's sexual history. Doesn't necessarily have to do with N-count but more about some of the specific situations you were in. That's mostly what I'm referring to.

As I said, some people enjoy talking or ranting about their sexual past. I've met men and women who enjoy talking about their sexual past, it's a thing, I promise. I've been told that I'm weird because I usually omit any details about my sexual past.

People have insecurities. They think that [x] people are hotter or more attractive than them and it bothers them that their partner may have been with [x] people. Some people get performance anxiety and get bothered that they had sex with many partners. Some people get insecure that they have a lot more sexual experience than the person they're seeing. Some people feel used and don't want to be with someone they believe to be a user or a player. Some people outright don't like it if their partner had an experience with someone of a specific race or ethnicity.

It's a bunch of shit it could be but it's usually rooted in some sort of insecurity. It's dumb to assume that women cannot be insecure and can't project that insecurity onto their partner through their sexual history.

I think in terms of psychology and analysis, n-counts are just horoscopes for boys (and girls). Most of the time any attempts at justifying preferences and icks related to body count are full of holes and assumptions, and the only coherent arguments are put forward by people who essentially just tell you "I want what I want, and I am not obligated to explain myself".

Which is true, but in this case it's unclear what exactly they are trying to obtain by creating this extra layer of selectivity and telling the rest of us about it. Honestly I just think n count attracts n count.

People who have low n counts attract people with similar values. People with high n counts usually attract people with higher ones.

I don’t love all the people shaming and being extremely judgmental of anyone with a high n count, because really you can just choose not to date them. And those people just exist and we can’t do anything about it. Being upset that they exist is silly.

There are plenty of attractive, young people with low n counts though. I disagree with the idea that people who have a low one are uglier. It’s not because of that usually, it’s usually down to sexual conduct vs raw sexual orientation. You can be uncontrollably sexually attracted to lots of different people then choose not to have sex with them because you’re not in a relationship (my boundary).

I'm sorry I used the word pretend, but it's not really the right word here. Let me explain via a reddit post I came across in /r/dating_advice.

There was this introverted guy around 34-35, he had met his first girlfriend six months earlier, and overheard a conversation between his girlfriend and her boyfriend. His girlfriend described OP as a boring guy when his girlfriend asked about him because his previous partners were nothing like OP. The guy asked his girlfriend to leave that night and later broke up with her.

The point is that the girlfriend probably realized that she needed to make a change and find a stable partner if she wanted to settle down and start a family, however, this did not get her excited about the stable guy. Men don't view things that way in return. They believe the effort up to marriage with a woman proves they hold her at the highest value. Men are far more selective about who they'd take as a wife than who they'd just have sex with.

The thing about women is it's usually the opposite for them, the amount of men they'd have quick easy sex with is much smaller than the amount of guys they'd let buy them a ring. So it ends up difficult for a previously promiscuous woman to prove she holds her future husband in the highest esteem, to the point where some just deny it's even possible at all and shouldn't be expected ("nobody holds you at the highest value").

If you're dating a guy who feels the same way, that's cool, but men trying to treat their woman as the best ever shouldn't have to settle for relationships where that intention isn't reciprocated.
