Did solo Valentine's Day feel more bad this year than any other for anybody else? I know it's a stupid commercialized holiday. But every other year I have been single on V-Day I felt more hopeful about the future. Things just seem so bleak now.

I got a heart shaped cheesecake for my husband and I to split on V-day, but instead I've come down with strep throat and haven't been able to eat anything since Monday.

On the plus side I've lost a few pounds and we still had V day sex, however on the downside my husband is eating all the cheesecake.

In other news, boychild's Valentine 'gift bag' was a hit with his classroom, and he said he felt really happy and special when a certain girl gave him a Valentine. He has his first crush and its adorable.

I promise that women don’t give a good goddamn if men support each other (just as women did) and independently of the opposite sex, created a masculine version of Galentine’s (as women did). Some even actively want you to create these events among yourselves.

There are men who would call this effeminate. There’s your solidarity issue. What women think shouldn’t even register on this one, because such a tradition would not be for them anyway (barring the fembros in your circle perhaps…we have for example included our feminine male friends in Galentine’s).

it’s the middle of the night, i put up a few post it love notes on the mirror, in the fridge where I left him good morning snacks that I pre prepped for the next few days, and on the couch with his favorite candy

Not really long distance, we live 45 min apart and see each other every weekend. I know for some that’s not enough time, but for me it’s perfect because I like and need a lot of alone time because otherwise I get distracted and ungrounded and unable to focus on my business. If we lived together it would be different, because we would see each other at night after work and it wouldn’t take a lot of planning and time to do so.

I’ve never celebrated Valentine’s Day in my life and don’t intend to start now. The guy I’m seeing is working that day and doesn’t seem like the type who’d care about it anyway. So, nothing.

Fun fact: in Japan, Valentine’s Day is a day for women to get gifts for the men in their lives — not just boyfriends but also friends and colleagues. Men get women gifts on White Day, which is on March 14.
