Don’t need to read any of what follows to debate what’s in the title - just wanted to offer one possibility as to how we got here.

Post-French revolution - we see slow shift towards liberalism and egalitarianism. The seeds of change are planted.

Post-WW2 - we see more shifts - women entering the workforce and obtaining higher education. America and Russia become the hegemonic and economic powers - Moral “crisis” from the horrors of WW2 leads to nihilism/moral apathy and lower rates of religious involvement.

Stability is maintained because the US and the USSR are still enemies. Because USSR requires women (like all classes) to work, their productive and economic output increase exponentially. America and the west HAVE to do the same and adapt.

1991 - Collapse of the USSR - With no opposing equal force, America has no direct competition and begins to degenerate and stratify - coincidentally, the 90s is where we begin to see social justice campaigns for “girl power” and further egalitarianism.

To be perfectly honest - a decent proportion of the whole “90% of men being unattractive” thing is probably a scapegoat by relatively unattractive women who just want to save face/show off in front of their friends, but we really did make it worse by instilling this idea that men and women are inherently equal and that true equality is achievable in this world even though equality is not a property of nature. As good as those intentions were, many parents unintentionally doomed many daughters to a life of loneliness by instilling in them a sense of unearned entitlements by virtue of their genitalia.
