I went on a date with someone who turned up from OLD bout 4 stone heavier than his photos, proceeded to talk about how his photos were 4 years old and how he'd put on 'a bit of weight' and didn't ask me one question the entire time we were there, made several passes at me after more and more to drink until when I mentioned I had to go, he 'walked' me home and tried to force himself in through the door as it was shutting because I 'owed him sex for paying'.

Learnt the hard way from that one.

Went on a dinner date. He was a "gentleman" and insisted on paying for dinner. Too bad he kept the whole dinner complaining about his ex wife, and how the many chicks he fucked didn't want to use condoms because they wanted to get pregnant. I played the dumb fox, I smilled and was polite, and encouraged him to talk more, and he just kept shooting himself in the foot.

I met a guy at a party and a mutual friend set up a date for us. We met after dinner time and I told him I'd have dinner at home by myself. When I arrived he told me he didn't eat yet, he took me to the grocery store and bought dinner. I of course didn't want anything and was VERY CONFUSED. After that we went to his apartment where he disappeared in the kitchen. His roommate was in the living room with me and we had a great conversation, really nice guy. After my date was done cooking he joined us in the living room. Perhaps he was jealous because he didn't even finish his dinner and we left for drinks very quickly.

He took me to a pub where a friend of his worked, and he bragged he could possibly get us free drinks. Of course he couldn't and I had to witness this incredible awkward conversation. After that he kept talking about how he hated his female classmates. Apparently all they did was 'ask dumb questions' and take too much of the professors' time. After fifteen minutes of this I reminded him I'm a girl als well but he could totally see I "was different". Yeah... Then he went to the toilets and he didn't came back for a long time. I thought (or perhaps hoped) he ditched me. I decided to just finish my drink but to my surprise he came back after 10 minutes or so. I tried to leave as soon as possible with a bad excuse. He also asked for separate checks but I was already assuming I had to pay everything since he took such a long time at the toilet.

Somehow he still texted me saying he really liked me and hoped for a second date. I was very clueless and naive by then but I immediately blocked him.

Probably the most cringey date was when I agreed to go on a coffee (I know, I know) and bookstore date. Coffee was a lukewarm canned frapp drink like the ones you get in bulk at Costco, so...small size, probably cost a dollar. Wow, thanks? And then we walked around the bookstore. He had said he'd pick some books out for me and I thought at the time it was a cute idea. He picked out some that looked terrible, and then found a book for himself. And asked me if I wouldn't mind paying for his book too. Umm, too??

The whole time I was there I wanted to leave. We just walked around and around while he talked about himself. I don't think I said more than four sentences the whole time. Introduction, thank you for the coffee, that book looks interesting (in my not interested tone) and no I don't want to buy anything. He tried to hug me on the way out. I shook his hand. I also had texted a friend to call me so I could get away which thankfully she did!

My first ever date from OLD, it was 9-ish years ago, we met on POF. I met him in the city centre and he picked a bar, it was incredibly pricey, we purchased separate drinks. After 10 minutes of chat he spotted some friends he knew across the bar and told me he was going to go and say hi for a minute. Fast forward 40 minutes I’m still sitting alone. I've had many, but this one from 2014 still baffles me everytime I think of it.

Like half an hour into the conversation the guy asked me do I give out anal sex. I wasn't even sure how to react at that moment. He also bragged about how he got excused from our defense forces (we have a mandatory military service for men, and I served voluntarily like some women do) for being "according to the doctor, too crazy to go there." After not too long I decided to leave, and he sent me angry Facebook messages afterwards for judging him too quickly and not even giving him a decent chance. :D What a moron. This spring I joined OLD again, and he has so far created three new Tinder profiles to give me a Super Like. Poor nutcase.

Probably every date with my ex lol. One “date” he took me to the comic book store and tried to make out with me in between the figures display. Another “date” he didn’t even pay for my ticket. If I was already going, he’d just buy a ticket too and would “go with me” as a “date” (Anime Boston, Boston comic con...). We’d go to the movies on Tuesday cuz AMC Tuesdays.

We never did any fun shit that our peers were doing and it makes me both sad and angry that I wasted 3 years with someone who would put more effort into hanging out with his friends than he would with me. I saw people going on hikes, amusement parks, picnics...I want a partner that wants to do fun stuff like that with me

This is a long story so get ready.

A guy asked me out for coffee when I was like 17. I wasn’t very experienced in dating but I liked him so I said yes and drove my own car to meet him in case I needed to leave immediately. I felt safe with him though because I had known him for a few months as we had a lot of mutual friends. So he was around a lot. I had a crush on him for a while. He was very tall, 6’6 and very attractive so I was pretty excited he asked me out.

The area we were going to was a charming shopping district full of small local businesses and restaurants within walking distance of a centralized parking area. We met in that parking lot and I asked if we were going to this cute local cafe in the area that I was a big fan of.

He looked at me and said “oh you actually wanted to get coffee?”

I should’ve ran right there but I was a dumb teenage girl and was like “um yes?? That’s what you asked me here for.”

He said ok and when I started walking toward the cafe he was like “where are you going? There’s a Starbucks right here.”

The Starbucks was closer but I wanted to support a local business with better coffee. I reluctantly went to the Starbucks with him where we each ordered separately and he didn’t pay for mine.

I began to think that maybe I was wrong and this wasn’t a date and that he just wanted to hang out like friends as we had been doing in groups with other people.

We sat outside and drank our coffee and talked. He was nice to talk to at least. Then he suggested we go for a drive. This was a small town and going for scenic drives was a common past time for teenagers in the area. I was hesitant but agreed and we got in his truck.

After we got in his truck he said “I have to run a few errands. I hope you don’t mind.”

This fucker drove to the bank and cashed a check, then went to the dry cleaners and picked up his mom’s dry cleaning, and then went through a freaking McDonald’s drive thru, ordered himself an iced tea and an ice cream cone, waited until we were past the order box and said “oh did you want something?” I didn’t but still wtf.

Then he asked me to hold his ice cream cone so he could smoke a cigarette! I am not attracted to smokers in the slightest.

So I’m sitting there, inhaling cigarette smoke, holding an ice cream cone in one hand and his dry cleaning in the other thinking “what the hell am I doing?”

I move to put the dry cleaning in the backseat and when I turn to look, he has 4 GUNS and a huge hunting knife just laying there!!!!

I immediately ask him wtf is up with the guns. He told me he was practicing shooting as he loves to hunt.

I am not a fan of hunting for sport. I don’t date hunters, however, he was half Native American and I wasn’t sure if this had some cultural significance for him and his tribe and I didn’t want to be rude. This was in the south where hunting is extremely common and most teenage boys participate. Nonetheless, I was scared. Who leaves guns in their car? Especially four? And on a date?? I felt really stupid for getting his car and also because I still wasn’t sure if I had misinterpreted this as a date.

He asks me if I’ve ever shot a gun. I told him no and that I wasn’t a fan of guns or hunting. He insisted I had to try and that he knew what we would do next. I told him I didn’t want to and he ignored me, insisting I would love it. He told me he needed to get some ammo first.

I texted an SOS to my best friend, shared my location with her, and told her what was going on.

So he drove to a fucking Walmart to buy ammo and I’m too timid and nervous because of the guns to say I want to go home. We got out of the car and before we went in he pinned me against the side of his truck and kissed me with his coffee/cigarette breath.

Who the hell thinks a Walmart parking lot is a good place for the first time you kiss someone?

Anyway, they didn’t have any ammo in Walmart so I was silently thankful. Nope. I couldn’t get out of it. He began calling his friends and asking if he could buy ammo off of them. One of our mutual friends had some and agreed to sell to him and we met him at a gas station. I felt a little better knowing someone else knew I was with him and what was going on.

Then he drove me out into the fucking woods, while I was scared shitless and glued to my seat, with zero cell reception. We were in the middle of nowhere and he stopped by a riverbank and I was like “cool that’s where my body will be in ten minutes.”

But he just took the guns out and actually did try to teach me how to shoot at a log on the other side. He gave me no ear protection and my ears started ringing. I told him I don’t want to anymore and we got back in his truck, only he didn’t start it. Instead he put his hand on my thigh and grabbed me by the head and pulled me in, trying to kiss me. His hand shot up my shirt and he grabbed my boob.

I didn’t know what to do and then all of a sudden there were headlights and the beep of a siren.

A sheriff heard the gun shots and was investigating the area. He asked if we heard them and we said yes but denied knowing anything about them. I told the cop we were lost (even though we weren't) and asked if he could tell us how to get out of the woods and back to the shopping district. He showed us on a map and I committed it to memory so I could make sure my date was actually taking me back.

We finally made it back to the parking lot and I was super eager to gtfo of his truck. I put my hand on the door handle and heard the door click to be locked. I felt my whole body stiffen and go cold.

I turned back to him and he cupped my face and grabbed the necklace around my neck. It was my house key. He asked what it was the key too. I lied and said I didn’t know and it was a decoration. He said “Are you sure? Because I think it’s the key to your heart.”

Then, I kid you not, this fuckface took the key and pretended to unlock the air with it as if unlocking my heart before trying to kiss me one last time.

I frantically pulled at the little tab in the door to unlock the car behind my back and rushed out of there, saying I had somewhere to be and ran to my car.

Two days later I was shopping in the same area with my best friend and saw him from across the street, holding hands with his ex girlfriend who he told me he broke up with. I saw him and said something to him and he pretended to not know who I was.

Two years later I was at a party thrown by a mutual friend. He was there and got super drunk. I found him on the porch outside, smoking cigarettes. He started crying, like full snot crying, and told me he was so sorry for breaking my heart when we were 17 and that it was so cruel of him to make me like him and then not ask me on another date. He lamented about how he fucked up and it was really his gf’s fault. As if I was heartbroken over him lol.

I looked him in the eye and said “We went on a date?? I literally don’t remember that.” And went back inside.

Met a guy off OLD and he was in his 30s and had never had a relationship longer than 2 months. He also had multiple stories about pooping his pants in public (and proceeded to tell me the details despite me literally saying “please don’t”). And multiple stories about his other dates would block him later “for no reason”. 🤔 He tried to kiss me and when I instinctively recoiled, he legit got mopey and teary eyed like a child that had been told no. The guy picked me up (good start!) then parked in a residential neighborhood near the restaurant so he wouldn’t have to pay for street or valet parking.

Then in the (long) walk to the restaurant, he admitted he was lost and had no idea how to get there. Instead of using the maps on his phone, he called his cousin to ask.

We ended up going somewhere else instead, because that other restaurant was really far.

I tried ordering what I wanted, and he wouldn’t let me. He got some like combo platter and he said what I wanted would be in it. It wasn’t. I said to the waitress a few more times and he kept on saying “no, we’re not ordering that.”

I told him I would call him (kiss of death) and I deleted his # as soon as I got home. I did end up hearing from him a week later, but I had already deleted his #, so I had to ask him who he was. He responded “never mind” and then I figured it out, lol.

The whole thing was cheap, poorly organized, and rude! Plus, I was wearing heels and my feet hurt so much from all that walking.

One time a guy asked me to meet him at a modern trendy seeming Italian place. When I got there, I realized it was actually the restaurant of a hotel. I thought that was a little weird but not a deal breaker (now I realize it was kinda gross to be at a hotel like that). He came and met me at the door took me to what I assumed was going to be our table. On our walk, he shared with me that we were actually going to his co-worker's birthday party. I was like, what?

So it was super awkward. We went up to a very nice space part indoors, part outdoors, like a covered patio that would have actually been a very nice place for a meal. But, again, it was his co-worker's birthday party. So there was no regular service, like a restaurant. He had to get up and go find a server to bring us a drink and a few pieces of this mini pizza. It was kind of loud so it was hard to talk and I just felt so uncomfortable being there. Especially when he got up to find a server, I was sitting along in the middle of a party for someone I had never seen before. I thought maybe he was using me as a date to look better to his co-workers, but we didn't even talk to anyone else at the party. Then I thought he had taken me there to avoid having to pay for stuff, but then he wound up paying for what we had at the end anyway. I stayed an hour and a half and then left and never talked to him again. It was the weirdest experience of my life. I have no idea why he took me to his co-worker's birthday party for a first date.

I dated a guy in high school and since I didn't know him at all, I decided a coffee and chat in the park was the cheapest and fastest date possible. I thought I would just walk away if I got bored. I was WRONG!

We spent about 3and a half hours together and he talked the entire time without letting me say one word! I said I was hungry at that point as I thought it might make him bail! But nope! Instead he decided to take me to a little fast food place and we ate hamburgers. And I found out he was a very loud chewer! During the last half hour of our date, he made more noise than the first 3and half combined!

There was no second date and he bugged me and my friends forever to get a second date.

My ears are ringing from remembering the date and it has been more than a decade!

I went on a blind date my friends set me up on. It was one of the worst decisions of my life and it damaged my trust in the friendship. We were in our sophomore year of college at the time and we all decided to go on a date so they set me up with one of their friends from high school.

We went to a Friday's and every 5 minutes he'd talk about having sex with me and how his dick was so big. I was a virgin and he'd found out from my friends and kept telling me he'd "be gentle the first time" because he was one as well. That's why they matched us up. He kept offering me to taste some of his food and when I finally did he told me how his plate was better. I ended the date early and paid for my food and took the rest home. Stupidly I thought he was just awkward. My friends kept telling me how was a good guy and just awkward.

I was dumb and believed it until we hung out at his house. He told me his sister wasn't home but would be back. He kept touching my boobs as soon as I got there and tried to reach in my pants. I left immediately. I texted him how uncomfortable I'd been and he texted me back saying "that's how I treat friends and just accept it". I then told him I no longer wanted to interact with him if he couldn't understand how I felt and blocked him. Before I could block however he texted back that I was being selfish and unreasonable.

I had a very long talk with my two friends and told them to keep their matches to themselves from now on. I have no idea if I'd trust them to set me up again because I was so mad. The reason why I was mad was because they told me he was awkward and an overly affectionate person. They'd known him since high school and we were in our sophomore year in college. He did not attend the same college, I have no idea if he was attending anywhere. I dead ass refuse to believe they didn't knew what was up and tried to trick me. How do people not know when you're touching people against their will in high school? Usually people blab to everyone.

When they they heard how I'd blocked him and told him off they told me they had no idea he was that type of person and said "they blocked him as well". I'm never putting myself in that position again.

The second date went super well; the conversation flowed, and he hit on topics that really interested me. As we were walking out of the restaurant, I was thinking that I really wanted a third date. I gave him a hug and a really quick, chaste kiss, and started walking to my car. He threw his hands up in the air, and said, "Is that all I'm gonna get?". Aaaaaand.... I was immediately done. This thread is so affirming!! I love knowing it’s not us, it’s them. I have to add mine.

(1) Guy spends most of our date telling me the story of catching his ex-girlfriend in bed with her manager. I paid for his meal. He said with a smile that so many girls buy him dinner, and I told him that’s probably because we all feel sorry for him. I know I shouldn’t have, but I just wanted to get away.

(2) Guy agrees to come to my house for a first date. I know this is a big no-no, but I had all his personal information, and I live in a town home so my neighbors are close! He was retired military, and always saying how he had nothing but free time. He showed up three hours late. THREE HOURS. He blamed traffic. The whole point in his coming to my house was that he was always telling me how amazing he was at grilling, and I had a grill I had never used. I was hoping for a tutorial and he agreed- men loooooooove to say they’ll teach you. So, by the time he shows up, I am starving and dinner hasn’t even been started. He proceeds to tell me to just throw the charcoal in, put lighter fluid on, and start it. Worst tutorial ever. He then went on and on about his previous relationship, about his problems with his parents, about his PTSD, and his many projects around his house. Anytime I interjected, he either corrected me, or told me how he could help me do it better (when I mentioned projects I had done.) He also complained about all of his previous online dates, how fat they were, how picky he was about his women, how women always want to fuck him on the first date but he’s not interested, it went on and on. I’m ashamed of myself for giving him a chance. Thank you for teaching me how to screen better, FDS!!

(3) The last and my absolute favorite: Guy invites me to a bar for drinks, at 6:30. Shows up 30 minutes late. Fatter than his pictures, riddled with acne, dressed in wrinkly tee and filthy khakis and smelling like he hadn’t showered in two weeks. I made a reference to our previous conversation, and he had no recollection. After he gets his first beer, the waitress brings menus, he is appalled. I tell the waitress I am hungry, and he says to her- separate checks. He spent an hour telling me how much women are intimidated by him, how he is on every dating site there is, but he never gets a second date. Because he is so great, women are scared. I just sat there smiling, letting him talk, eating my delicious hummus with chicken and drinking my fancy beer while he sucks down Coors light because it’s on special. When I asked for the check, I told her I would pay for his two Coors, because he seemed hard up. I meant this as a dig but he was clearly under the impression that I was enamored with him. He then followed me out to my car and tried to make out with me! I declined. He mentioned that he lived right across the street, which is why he picked the place, and I was welcome to come over because as he said, he would be able to get his roommates to leave if we were going to fuck.

Message: It’s not our fault, ladies!! Screen as much as possible, don’t make excuses, listen to their words AND their actions, and save the worst stories for wine nights with friends. We will thrive ❤️ and HVM exist!

When I was a total pickme, I went on an amazing first date and at very expensive speakeasy with a date. It was 1930's themed and they had palate cleansers in between so very impressive. We had good conversation for a few hours and I (mistakenly) had sex with them.

Second date was a total nightmare. Strike 1: 2 hours late. But I was a pickme and permitted his excuse of "taking care of his grandmother" despite him not having the common decent to even call or text that he was late. He suggested a restaurant (I was new to the area and just moved there so no idea what I was about to get into) that had an open mic night. I was dressed in jeans, a dressy top, and had full face of makeup. He wore a flannel and ripped jeans. He suggested taking 1 car and I went with him there. Huge mistake.

He said it was a "family grille" vibe but what we walked into resembled a hillbilly crackhouse with a bunch of old toothless men in their 60's that you could probably buy meth off of and a bunch of trashy people that were extremely drunk. I saw 3 fights being broken out within the 2 unfortunate hours I had to awkwardly sit there. I was also extremely overdressed and all the men were looking at me like the total LVM/NVM perverts they were, despite being at least 2 decades older than me. I was the only woman without leather pants and I felt so embarrassed to have worn a nice blouse because everyone was basically staring at my chest the entire time. The date "talked" to me for a few mins and tried negging me saying that since I was "nice enough to wait, he can buy me a drink." I noted that the 2 hours of time he wasted of my life and the makeup on my face that I mistakenly wore thinking this was an actual date cost more than 6 drinks from this shady cover-up business pretending to be a bar. He thought I was "joking" (I wasn't he was just uncomfortable I confronted him on his BS). He then signs up for the open mic night and sang a bunch of opera inspired screamo music and everyone knew him by his performer name which means he goes there at least 1-2 times a week. We were the youngest people there by a long shot and I hated every min of being there. A bar fight and police arrived just as we wrapped up him singing his set. He did have a great performance because it was so narcissist, over the top, ridiculous, theatrical, self-indulgent, and encompassed the epitome of LVM on date 2, especially while performing because he was trying to get the toothless men into the songs and dance along. It was a sight I will never forget. He thought he did amazing and pretty much had a boner the entire time he was serenading me to his low value screamo performance alter ego, assuming I found it attractive/sexy and would bone him again later. It was so shocking to me at the time that I had to just laugh to get through and was so embarrassed and like WTF but didn't know how to respond. On our way back to my place, he took mushrooms (he casually carried like a quarter of these high grade mushrooms he ordered on the dark web with him to show me to impress me on this date while I was in his car) and asked if I wanted to take some. I reminded him that I work in education and had school the next day. It was like 1am at this point and he kept me well beyond my bedtime so I was annoyed. He worked in a public sector in a very reputable job that requires you to have your shit together otherwise it could potentially harm lots of people and I was just shook he thought it was okay to trip balls driving me back to his place and thought he could just "crash on my couch then head into work still tripping balls" with a complete stranger. He also asked "WTF was wrong with my cat" who was a chatty Siamese and "joked" that if it was his cat, he would kick them to be quiet. Needless to say, he was dead to me soon after. He slept on my couch and I never heard from him again. I locked my door while I was asleep because I was a pickme and didn't know how to set boundaries at the time. NEVER AGAIN!

I was in my early 20s and I should have left the date waaaay earlier than I let it go on for, but as a consolation, I was telling my friend about how bad it was and she has a friend who worked in his company’s HR dept! Weeks later, my friend tells me her HR friend was telling coworkers about my awful date with him and they could all confirm that no one hooks up with him on those company retreats.

It was the worst.

Last year, I agreed to dinner with this guy from a dating app. He looked cute in photos. The first thing I realised after meeting him was that his photos were at least from five years ago and 15kg lighter. I didn’t want to be rude so I went along with it. Then he asked if I was hungry. I told him I wasn’t that hungry because I was recovering from a stomachache the day before but I could still eat something light. He decided he was not hungry and brought me to the entrance of a restaurant because he wanted to drink a milkshake. Told him I wasn’t interested in a milkshake and would rather get normal coffee like Starbucks.

So we went to a cafe instead and he didn’t offer to buy me a drink. I bought my own drink. Thought we were going to take a seat and talk but the moment he got his drink he walked out of the cafe and to the roadside. I was speechless but still followed him and crossed the road. Asked him where we were going and he merely said “a walk”.

Throughout the walk he asked questions about my past relationships, prodding very deeply and asking how far we’ve gone and all. He then shared that he’s been on dates with girls from Tinder but was disappointed as he felt that he was being catfished during all the dates. He then decided he was hungry and bought some bread from a bakery (again, he didn’t ask me if I wanted any so I merely stood around drinking my vanilla latte while he made payment). He didn’t ask many questions about me, scoffed when I revealed I used to be in the school band, saying band members are “meh”, made future plans by himself for us, and demanded to see my cat. I then lied about having a curfew, thinking I could get away at the bus stop but he insisted on walking me home and since we apparently lived near each other, I had no choice but to agree. Throughout the walk, he tried to hold my hand multiple times even when I said “No” each time, again talked about the Tinder girls he went out with and how they are on the platform merely for attention, and wanted to know exactly where I lived. I had to tell him I was holding onto a shrill alarm for him to back off. We stopped at the bus stop near his home which was a stop away from mine. I then told him frankly that I didn’t see this working out and apologised. He was really upset and really thought he had a chance, saying things like I would’ve been his first and last girlfriend, and tried to hold my hand again. I refused, and he asked if I was conservative. Told him I don’t hold hands with strangers. He wanted to continue talking but I told him I had to go and bailed.

Thought that was the end, and I didn’t block him on Instagram until he texted me that he felt hurt by what I said.

I went on a date from OLD with this absolute catch.

However during the entire date he was making eyes at this one waitress! She wasn't assisting us but kept walking past our table and he looked at her pretty much every time. He eventually revealed that shes in his climbing friend group and goes to the same gym as him.

I should've left when she painfully came over to our table to clear our glasses after the 8th time he looked at her. It was so apparent there was something between them and I honestly think he used me to make her jealous.

He did also change the location of our date last minute, and it wasn't until after the fact that I put the two together. Yikes!

Ugh OLD is the worst. I’ve had my fair share of bad dates, but this one takes the cake.

Swipe right and matched with a guy I wouldn’t normally be attracted to. Seemed well rounded and intelligent online but found out quickly it was a ruse. Thought I’d give him a chance although he wasn’t physically my type. Texting was great, everything was ok. He has a masters degree and works for a great technology firm so I admired his drive.

We planned to meet at a pool hall for 7 pm on a weekday. He suggested pool because he knew I enjoyed playing it. I agree.

I get there and see him sitting waiting for me at booth. Okay he looks decent, got up and greeted me appropriately, all good.

A server comes to our booth and hands us menus. I eagerly look at it since I haven’t had dinner yet. Date looks horrified I would do such a thing. Reassured him I was paying for myself, but he shouldn’t have invited me at 7 pm to a restaurant/pool hall if he didn’t expect me to order food.

Anyways he ends up paying for my meal and orders something for himself, guess he felt bad. We begin to play pool and all of a sudden he gets handsy on me. None of my behaviours or actions should have indicated to him that I was into him, clearly I wasn’t.

I kept pulling away from his advances and he still wouldn’t get the message. The scrote then has the audacity to ask me “what I’m doing later” and if I wanted to come over and watch a movie. It was already 10:30 pm on a weeknight, and I had to get up at 6 am the next day for work. I respectfully decline and mention that I have to go home.

He asks if he could walk me to my car and my dumbass agrees. It was getting late, it was dark, and I was in a sketchy part of town. He walks me to my car and then he tries to LEAN IN FOR A KISS. I push him away, tell him I had a good night and get in my car. Immediately block his number and remove him from socials.

I should have never trusted a Persian man who still wears a gold chain at age 30. 🙄 Honestly online dating is terrible and I’d rather be single than go through more awkward moments like this.

2nd date. Dude and I go to a comedy show I suggest. We were chatting and he says his friend is in the area. I jokingly say, oh, maybe he'd like the show, and his friend actually shows up. I didn't really think this guy would invite his friend to sit with us on a date. They're sitting there, talking past me on either side of me, and I make a comment on the topic.

My date goes, "Hahaha, this silly bitch."

"Absolutely not," I say and stand up to move.

He's playing dumb, asking me why I'm going, and I told him no one is going to call me a bitch even if they're "joking."

I moved to another table with some strangers and had a great night out. I didn't notice it until a while after, but he had gotten weirdly aggressive with me at the end of our first date after I mentioned I wasn't white (I'm very racially ambiguous and very few people have ever pinned down my background on a guess), but I didn't really connect the two until after the second date. I don't even know why he said yes to another one. I make it a point now if I'm ever on OLD to put my race bc I would rather navigate fetishists than deal with racists who are offended I "tricked" them and might try to take their righteous anger out on me when it comes up that I'm not white.

I think I said something like, "that's too much for right now." I later responded to his text and told him he shouldn't have tried to kiss me without warning. Well for starters I didn't want to go on the date but some of my friends were pushing me to do so because 1) we all thought the guy was nice with a great sense of humor (met him at my last job) 2) I was trying to get over a past fling. The guy knew I didn't want to go but promised free food and a nice time even if it didn't lead to anything.

First, we met at a fast food place (to which he was late.) I had to pay for BOTH of our meals even though he was the one who asked me to dinner. During the dinner he continued to make racial slurs and say sexists things but told me I had no reason to be offended. He also went on about how he still was mad at/had feelings for his ex and that the self help books he was reading weren't working. He went on about her for an hour. I barely got a word in during THREE HOUR long date. It was completely just him talking.

Outside of all of that, he had gained a good bit of weight since I had last seen him and he mentioned it himself to tell me that appearance shouldn't matter. He also farted throughout the whole thing, loudly.

Next time my gut is trying so hard to tell me not to do something that I end up nauseous, I'm going to listen. 🤦🏻‍♀️

This was my one and only cringe date. I met him at a party and he began talking to me when I was really just speaking to his friend. I wasn’t interested in him at all, but he peaked my interest when he said “I’d take you shopping (insert mall with high end stores) and to a lounge you really like” right before I left I said yes, stupidly. Keep in mind I vet men pretty well and only agreed because I could use this guy. He claimed to have money thru his profession. So I thought why not?

My god. He was horrible. Like very different from how he was at the party. He claimed to have money but acted broke. When the valet asked for $10 he hesitated, said “I mean I got the money 🙄 but $10? Fine”. We go in and get seated in the pricey lounge (I picked it on purpose). He burned holes in the menu. He was sooo boring and I carried the conversation for a bit. He talked about himself, talked about how much money he makes a week as if I was his financial advisor. Literally when there was silence he would bring up a random fact about himself “yeah, see me? I can heal myself with my mind”.. delusional shit like that. The car ride home was worse. He played music he produced and started going OFF about being an alpha male (he was not... very meek like a mouse), how he would eat my p*ssy, how his ex cheated on him, etc. LIKE GOING OFF OUT OF NO WHERE!! I got so annoyed and didn’t hide it anymore. Jesus I have a story for this. About 3 years ago, I was feeling spontaneous and decided to go on a bumble date in the first day of swiping right on someone. Normally I try to talk for at least a week or so. Matched with a cute doctor a couple years older than myself. We went to a dive bar I never heard of.. when I got there it was super grungy and just not my scene. Turns out, his apartment is right about the bar (eye roll, how convenient??). Meanwhile I ubered 25 mins to get there.

So we are talking and he asks me really rude questions, like “guess how much I make?” And I was like “idk how much”. He’s just bragging the whole time saying he makes 300k. Lowkey was thinking he sounds like a sociopath but the next part confirms it.

He wants to play truth or dare (???), so I pick truth. He asks me “WHAtz thA craZieSt ThiNg yOuvE eVer Done?” I said “skydiving you?”. Then he starts busting out laughing, and tells me a story of how he and his friend went out one night, and his friend was supposed to sleep over.. the next morning is they couldn’t find him and called and called him. Turns out his friend was wasted and drove on the wrong side of the highway and killed two people, friend is in jail. This guy is LAUGHING while telling the story. Omg. I get the creeps thinking about it. This guy is a DOCTOR.

Date ended quickly after that, but not before him begging me to spend the night at his apartment. YUCK. I said no a million times, and as I was walking to my Uber he grabbed my butt.

Blocked him and thankfully never heard from him. Worst date ever.

I [F20] went to a [M28] guy's house for dinner. We went on one date and lived an hour away from each other, but this guy was tall, dark, & mysterious and I was intrigued, so I agreed. He gave me his address which turned out to be a small ranch in the middle of nowhere with overgrown shrubs & trash/debris littered all over the yard.

I pulled up in his driveway and his black African mastiff ran out to my car and looked terrifying, I didn't even know he had a dog and was scared it would be aggressive, so I waited in my car for a couple minutes for him to come out but he never did. So I got out and luckily for me the dog ended up being a sweetheart. I walked up to the front door and knocked and he didn't open it, but I heard a window open next to it and he said "oh, the front door doesn't work, come around back."

At this point, I felt super sketched out, that house seemed like a perfect place for someone to disappear at, so I texted my best friend my location and said that if I didn't message her by 9pm that something bad might have happened to me.

I went to the back patio and he slid open the glass door by hand because there was no track for it to open normally. I had fake nails on and could not have opened or closed it by myself, but went in anyway. His kitchen was a disaster and smelled like stale weed. His garbage can was overflowing and his sink was filled with dishes. He apologized for the mess and I noticed that nothing was cooking for dinner. I sat at the messy table nervously playing with his scary dog and he started making pot roast.

He threw the pot roast stuff in a crock pot at maybe 7pm and we talked at the table for a while. He wanted to smoke so we sat outside and watched the sunset while he smoked a blunt or two and went back inside. I must've thought he was extremely attractive because looking back, I would've never even entertained the idea of putting up with any of this for any other guy I had dated.

We ended up Netflix and chilling and things got a lot less awkward. I got out of the shower and threw on his hoodie at about 11pm. I went and grabbed my phone to text my friend about the weird ass night I just had and saw like 3 missed calls, and a lot of "OMG text me right now or I'm calling the police."

I called her and she was like "thank god you're ok, but I called the police, you told me you were scared and I didn't hear from you" she and I laughed about it. After we hung up I had to go tell the guy that police should be coming out to his place, and not 5 minutes later we saw a car driving really slow down his winding road.

The cop came up to the house, saw me in the guy's hoodie and told me to call my best friend, and that he'd give her a call too. I apologized and thanked the officer and the guy and I went back in the house. It was now pushing midnight and the meal he made was finally done. He said "just so you know, if your friend had called the police out to my place a year or two ago, things would not be cool, but I'm straight now so it's fine."

I regretfully kept seeing this guy for a month. I was really depressed at the time I was seeing him, and dating someone with a history & situation like his was I guess some form of me throwing in the towel. I didn't like myself and I was being reckless, so I welcomed the danger like an idiot. At least I've learned from my mistakes.

1st Cringey Date: Matched with a guy on OLD and after talking and agreeing to go out, he insisted we go to a movie. I said I'd rather go to dinner so we could actually get to know each other, but he kept saying there was something playing he really wanted to see and we could go to dinner after (it was Annihilation with Natalie Portman). I eventually agreed.

Showed up to the theater, and he was a whole head shorter than me. I still went to the movie though, and he kept trying to hold my hand and put his hand on my thigh. I made it clear that made me uncomfortable but I was too young and naive to end the date then and there.

We went to Buffalo Wild Wings after (classy I know 🙄) and he spent the whole date being rude to the waitress about how he wanted his food, talking about how he didn't understand the movie but how hot he thought Natalie Portman was, and a weird contradiction of how much he hated girls in the past who would chase him when he didn't want a relationship but also how much he hated his exes who dumped him. He then tried to get me into his car after even though we drove separately and that's when I ended the date.

2nd Cringey Date: Different guy. Ten minutes into the date he told me I was "prime Aryan breeding stock". We are both blonde and blue-eyed. I hadn't even ordered so I just didn't say anything and left.

Oh I love this question because a few people have randomly asked me this week. But you’re in for a doozy.

So this was over 10 years ago when I lived in Utah and was very very naive and innocent- I also thought I should be Mormon - that also did not work out.

But was on the LDS site and met a guy - I couldn’t tell you what he looked like today or his name really but we chatted and he asked to drive from my small college town to the armpit of Utah. About 30 mins or so. I didn’t meet at his house but a truck station - because this isn’t sketch at all but I agreed so we can get to the restaurant before dark. He picks me up and we agreed to go to this cute homey restaurant in the canyon - so we make the drive up the canyon to where the restaurant was supposed to be- there was no restaurant it was closed or burnt down - I don’t remember. I’m pretty sure this may have been before yelp and I had a flip phone. So we decided to just find a local Chinese food place - for the record - Utah has some of the best Chinese food :).

While driving we were chatting in the car and he kept telling me I was a redneck - when I made it clear I grew up in Las Vegas and I’m a city girl. Not sure why at 21 I thought this was a big deal but I refused to be a Utah girl - ever. I was also a little brash - I was very sassy but also very much a pushover but this rubbed me wrong almost instantly. But we make it to this random Chinese place and he grabs this day planner portfolio thing from the backseat - this is his “wallet”. Whatever- and he attempts to hold my hand - which I am pretty sure I refused because I really don’t like being touched by strangers.

Well we go inside and order and chit chat about my family when I mention my dad and that he’s not really in my life currently - he says “I’ll be your daddy if you let me spank you”. I’m pretty sure my face turned bright red and I kept looking down and didn’t even finish the topic. On top of that, he didn’t tip the server (which I get can be a culture thing - but I grew up in a hospitality town - it’s kind of a asshole thing to me). Then we walk out to his car where he tries to hold my hand again while he carries his day planner.

Also, at this point he doesn’t have any other plans so he brings me to his house to watch a movie - I think nothing of it bc well he’s Mormon and he should never do more than make out....oh my was I wrong. So I don’t even think I thought much of who ppl live with (I do now) but he lived with his sister, her husband and like 3 kids. I met all of them - at like 9:30pm on a first date. It was weird.

But he lived in their basement. Where he has a bed, tv, and a couch. And a picture of Jesus on his window seal. Weirded me out just a bit but I stayed even though I think at the same time I noticed I had some assignment due and said I needed to leave shortly. He agrees but then tried to cuddle me and I love cuddling but not on a first date and not when you said you want to spank me. He also tried to tickle me - so I would turn over on my back and he attempted to kiss me and it was by far the most repulsive kiss I have ever experienced. Like he kept trying to basically lick the outer edge of my lips and slobber on me. I literally pulled away and said please drive me to my car. He was visually upset but I said I’d text him when I get home.

I honestly rushed home to finish this test for my class and like within 2 mins I got a text yelling at me for not letting him know that I was home and whatever. I think at that point I said I wasn’t his girlfriend so I didn’t need to check in with him but I said good night.

I don’t think I blocked him yet or the next day. But I think like a week later after I just stopped texting - he sends me this long message about how he spoke to the women he worked with and they feel that I should give him a second chance. I politely told him I don’t feel it’s going to work out and there won’t be a second date. Well then he pulls out of his ass that his friend died that day and he wasn’t in his right mind.

I’m pretty sure my reaction was - if a close friend died the same day why did you proceed to go on the date rather than cancel. I’m pretty sure he harassed me for awhile or something before the real block feature was made or I told him I was getting married (not unheard of in Utah). The guy just didn’t get the hint. But creepiest date that I can recall and I’ve had a few in San Diego.

I’ve pretty much have given up on dating with the pandemic, 2020, and today’s “men”. I’m sure there are great guys out there but I’m not meeting them so I’ve closed up shop for the time being. I might adopt a new pup instead

Oh, I have some I would like to share:

Was talking to some guy on OLD. He seemed nice enough, but not my type at all. This was in my pickme days. I had recently ended a LTR and I felt a bit lonely, most of my friends were in relationships at the time - meaning they dont want to hang as much as single people does. So I wanted to make some new friends too. So I decided to be nice to him, but I told him right off- he wasn't my type, but I explained the situation. I made it VERY VERY clear I would only meet with him for friendship and he was like "oh I have MANY female friends, it is not a problem etc blabla". Well I turned up and he ended up treating the entire evening like a date. He was buying me drinks, even when I declined over and over again. He even tried to sneak a kiss at the end of the night- which he did not succeed with, I managed to dodge him. I turned him down via text the next day, which he did not take that well- he got like super defensive and how "he wasn't interested in me like that anyway" and "I wasn't his type" - yeah sure buddy, then why did you behave the way you did.
This was even worse than the first one, and I was being an idiot. I was on an OLD site, and I fell over a friend of my ex. I was with my ex for 5+ years and we ended on ok terms. (I ended it and he wanted us to stay together) well I knew this guy quite well, had met him on many occasions and talked to him. He messaged me on the OLD site and I was like "oh lol, are you here too" we started chatting very neutrally and just about normal things. I explained things and was like, I would like to meet for FRIENDLY beers, as FRIENDS and just have a talk. He agreed and the day arrived. He had picked the spot, I show up and it is a restaurant in an old wine-cellar, pretty fancy and ONLY other couples there eating dinner. I arrived and was like "WHAT!" I wasn't dressed for dinner or a date, but for beers with a friend. Wearing a tshirt, jeans and sneakers. I was so embarrassed, but even more for this being a date- clearly. It was SO awkward. The food was pretty unexciting and tasteless considering the prices, but he paid for dinner and I felt so bad for him, because he is a nice guy, but I had zero sexual attraction towards him. I was he had been honest about it being a date instead of tricking me, and it was just awkward. We walked around town and talked, but I was not interested in him, but I was being nice and polite as always. We split at the end of the night and hugged and I texted him letting him know I thought he was a nice guy, but I just didn't feel it and was just looking for friendship.

So I have a question, related to my last cringey date. My date had a bit too much to drink in our first date. Like things started out really well but then he drank too much and got horny. Like we had just met and he kept trying to put his arm around me, leaning on my shoulder, stuff like that. Eventually he asked if I wanted to go make out and I said “I feel like I should get to know you better first.” Then he admitted that he drank too much and needed to go home. My question is, what should I have done in the car if I didn’t want to kiss him? What should I do when men get too familiar on the date and become a little too touchy-feely?

Oh boy. Do I have some things to say.

He said he'd like to take me out some time then proceeded to ask me what I'd like to do. Didn't plan it at all. I suggested a movie and a meal, he said yes and I researched the film, what restaurants, what location ect. (This could never run now of course).

When the day came he called me an hour before we were going to meet up and said he didn't feel good so he cancelled.. About 30 minutes later, he called again and said he reeeeeeeally wants to meet me so he'll come out, but not for a movie or meal it's too overwhelming 🙄.

Me being the pickmeisha I used to be I said yes. 🤦🏽 He took me to Oxford street and we window shopped. Yes. Window shopped. The entire time he insisted on holding my hand, kept grabbing my waist from behind, putting his hand on my thigh ect. Didn't even buy me water or anything.

Talked about how I should know that he's not a virgin, the moon looks really different when you're on balloons, his last 3 girlfriends all cheated on him, kept asking if I'm talking to anyone else. He then took me to one of his favourite stores and bought himself a shirt and some trousers...

When it was time to part, he kissed me on the forehead before I pulled away he went for my cheeks also. On the train back home, he said he's really angry, angry that he didn't get to kiss me on the lips.

What a scrote.

I went on a first date with a guy that wasn’t super attractive to me but we started chatting in the sprint store when I went to purchase a new phone. He asked me out right there and I appreciated that he was assertive and polite. We went out to sushi and conversation was okay. He drove and said that he wanted to pick something up at his house so we stopped there. I got no creepy vibes from him so I went to his apartment with him. As we reached the door he said, “now there is someone really important I want you to meet” while putting his key into the lock. Hmm, I thought, perhaps a dog. Then he opened the door and formally introduced me to his mother. He wanted to show me some trophies in his room of common interest we have and while there took the liberty of plugging in a game console and starting to play a video game in front of me. I was like, okay- peace out bro lol
