Hey, guys, let me grab a YouTube video and pass my interpretation of it off as fact or even remotely scientific.

It could be the hottest woman in the world standing across from me, at very least, I'm offering if she'd like to join me for lunch as I walk out of that place. Because I'm not: - Kissing a rando - Fulfilling some voyeur/YT stunt - Being used to justify some weirdo argument that the sort of people into being filmed as they kiss a stranger is in any way a meaningful point about human behavior

This is not a meaningful selection. The only thing this video suggests is that you can be cringe as hell and still get a kiss if a camera crew is involved.

Look, this is a false dichotomy. A lot of you have this idea of what the socially aware feminist man looks like, acts like, and so on... and you imagine things about his life you couldn't possibly know. This sub talk about him in caricature, a simpering, sexless people pleaser. In truth, the the feminist man can still be confident, assertive and even forward. And there is more than one way to be strong, or weak.

Certainly men like that caricature do exist, just as the correlative, the knuckle dragging chauvinist whose tiresome masculine expressions puts women off, also exists. But most men, on either side of the spectrum, are so much more complex than that in real life that this level of analysis is just not very constructive at all.

It is worth noting that a significant minority of women aren't assertive or have strong personalities though. So yes, if the woman you're dating seems to be of the former she will very likely reward such upfront behavior. I'm very outwardly masculine but inwardly somewhat feminine. It's a rather difficult thing to explain or parse in general.

Masculine traits:

I am tall, make very good money in a "sexy" career path (tech startup), masculine face and countenance , very assertive and extroverted, "endowed," pretty socially popular, drink & party often, had a male ho phase, etc. I'm fiscally very conservative. I love America and the ideals of the country. I like guns and am a pretty good shot. I'm a pretty good muay Thai fighter.

Feminine traits:

I am highly neurotic, more than most women. I believe in love and prefer a solid loving relationship to any sort of hookup. I believe women and men are morally equal even if they have physical differences. I'm super socially liberal. I love conversations about drama & gossip lol.

Anyways.. point is.. I do pretty well with women.

You can be pretty feminine and still do well as long as you're not entirely feminine.

Also if you're too masculine you're gonna struggle too.

I wasted 10 mins of my life, they're all pretty awkward and I think your reading too much into this one guy.

This one guy feels too awkward to do so (or even ask properly like everyone else) and it breaks down, she does not reject him. You attribute this to being a Feminist Ally for some reason (for all you know all of them could be) while it's probably his insecurity in himself (and poor dude has us all here judging him).

There is no stereotypical gendered behaviours by the others, Mr Manbun (last one) did fine, just don't be socially awkward.

Being too aggressive in many instances can get you results in the short term (making out, sex, whatever), but in the longer term worse results --- i.e. feels you're only in it for sex, buyer's remorse, whatever.

Even your last sentence about it makes no sense: "weak men fear to expose themselves." Buddy, asking someone if they want to do x or y is exposing yourself because it's obvious that you want to do x or y with them. The question in and of itself is a risk moreso because it's even more counter to social norms. So in effect, it takes more courage to go about things in that way because (a) it adheres to a higher value --- making both parties active participants in courtship and (b) requires great risk --- because it is less socially accepted.

Rather than self-reflect and think 'gee, that's a noble thing' you watch some video where some guy --- GASP -- gets shot down and take it as proof that what....being noble is never worth it?

Your viewpoint here is so wedded to the opinion of women that you're warping the definition of what courage/character is to conform to the whims of whatever woman appears on a silly video or in real life.

Displaying stereotypical behavior will cast a much wider net but if that's just not who you are as a Man it's better to stick to your niche.

Not every Man HAS to be a hyper masculine dude to get what he considers romantic/sexual success. I know way more dudes who lean more into their masculinity and it works out a lot since the polarity of the feminine/masculine is what does it. However, I also have friends more on the "softboi" spectrum who pull a pretty specific type of gal (art hoes). But maybe they aren't actually "feminine" like that. Still assertive but in a different type of way.

I think men who display this bravado may have an easier time getting dates, simply by putting themselves out there. It doesn't mean they're more attractive to women, just more noticiable. I think women mostly end up marrying to nice guy in the end once they realize they ended up with the jerks simply because they were the ones at the forefront and then they learn to pick more carefully for someone with shared values and interests.

But many women also use them for sex but get married to the more docile kind man when it comes down to settling down. There's many variables to this but simply being macho and masculine isn't enough to maintain a woman, if he doesn't know how to do it properly, too much comes across as a pompous asshole and also imagine if he works a min wage dead end job. The issue here is the people in the video are there to kiss. They all agreed to be there. Irl if a strange man came up to a woman and just kissed her there's a very high chance she would be uncomfortable and would be asked to leave. Even if he looked like a movie star, there would still be lots of women put off by that behavior.

Also someone can be strong/assertive and still ask for consent. It's not either or.

I think you are technically correct, but I also think you see to much in this video. That women find confidence attractive is a universally accepted truth, confidence is not however "stereotypical male" behaviour. I also have never seen confidence to be denounced by women. This video puts people in awkward positions on purpose, and some handle it better then others. That's really it. The guy who get's rejected literally made this situation infinitely more akward then it was with his weird question and lack of confidence, not because he was concerned with how comfortable she was, but more with how uncomfortable he was.
