I've never in my life had a drawn out and messy convo about a man and his current girlfriend. Maybe some crazy exes or hookups after it's said and done with, but if he's serious about the woman, he keeps his mouth shut.

If he's overall happy, that's all he says. If he's overall unhappy, he'll break that down. Most other men don't care to probe, and before long we're off to another topic. Rarely any mixed, gossipy, "Well things are going great, but she can be so XYZ, ugh."

But a lot of women treat their boyfriends and relationship issues like the contents of a teen girl magazine. "Oop, what's the tea, girl?" Group chat fiascos. Late night FaceTime sessions. The whole shabang. I've got plenty of female friends, I'm privy to it.

It is SO easy to get a woman going about what irritates her about her boyfriend. I've had several women show me running lists of icks about their partners that they keep in their Notes app. I don't know if they get it from TikTok or Twitter or what, but it's sickening.

A female friend of mine literally only ever brings up her boyfriend in conversation as an example of a rich, spoiled brat who never had to work for what he has. Every. Single. Time. She's one of my closest friends and the only thing I know about her otherwise rock-steady relationship and boyfriend is that she resents the shit out of him.

And personally speaking as a man, there's far too many times I've had to restore my reputation among my partner's friends after a prolonged argument or issue within our relationship suddenly became their business.

To me this all shows a lack of restraint and respect for the relationship/ your partner's image. Of course this isn't black and white, but the distinction is night and day in my experience. Debate away.
