Assuming traditional gender norms in dating, what do women offer in the initial dating stages?

I've paid for one date in my life when i was in my teens and never again. Since then I always go Dutch and to me it works out perfect. Everyone pays for what's theirs, and at the end of the date no one is out anything if the date isn't good.

But I often see women who want 'men to be men' and expect men to chase them for weeks to show interest, plan an amazing date, pay for that amazing date possibly consistently. I even see some saying this is the bare minimum to catch her attention.

So to men who do this and women who have this as the bare minimum standard, what do the women offer? Regardless of the mans personality the woman is getting a free date, food and an ego boost. What does the man get?
