I'd assume the standard dregs of society, non-working, sociopathic, addicts.

In reference to dating, low value people = people that don't add anything to ones life, socially, romantically, emotionally, mentally, financially, or spiritually. They're essentially a net neutral at best, or a burden if not detriment at worst.

A man being neutral in benefit (meaning that he doesn't add or subtract anything from ones current life experience) is considered "bad" because of the energy, time, and resources "wasted" to be with someone who isn't good company, isn't stimulating, and isn't making life different in any perceivable way. For women who want a more engaging and fulfilling partnership, this is considered bad and not worth effort or comfort in comparison to being single. For women who just want companionship and someone to go through the motions of life with, this is considered fine if not preferable to being single.

A no-value neutral man, will be a man who does 50/50. He actually pays his share of living expenses and does his share of chores. He not engaging company, he is not emotionally unavailable and not emotionally vulnerable. He isn't romantic, but on occasion will show intimate consideration romantically. He's not combative and he's not agreeable. He isn't encouraging or discouraging. There is no difference in the life of the person that he's dating whether he is there or not. His physical presence is the only thing that he brings.

A man being negative in benefit (meaning that he subtracts from one's current life experiences) is considered bad because of the energy, time, and resources wasted to someone who is harming the other person. Choosing to be with someone who is physically abusive, financially abusive, and neglectful is a form of self harm.

A no-value negative man, will be a man who does absolutely nothing and/or takes too much in return. He'll often bleed his partner dry financially, ontop of being emotionally unavailable, manipulative, unromantic, and possibly physically/sexually/mentally abusive. Life is significantly worse for the person that he's dating. His presence is a burden or detriment within the relationship.

Unemployed, ugly (and not trying to remedy it eg with haircare, skincare etc), badly dressed, no hobbies or interests, no charisma or conversation.

Boring - they have no real personal interests, few friends, no real social life - they exist to work and watch tv.

Afraid/ desperate - the ones who are too busy trying to guess what you want to hear to just be genuine. They may have passions but they will never tell you because they are afraid of what you will think of them.

Logic would say that low value men are the derelicts. Men who are unemployed, addicted, abusive etc. But since this is a quasi-dating subreddit and value is measured by the ease with which one can obtain casual sex it's pretty difficult to classify unemployed, addicted and abusive men as low value if they can get women to sleep with them more quickly than say an average guy at an average job with nothing overtly exciting about him.

And that's the dilemma.

The logical part of our brain tells us that the former are men of low value but since it's required to remove the logical part of our brains in order to participate in PPD we have to pretend that Steve the forklift driver who makes $52k a year if he works enough overtime is low value but the felon with L-O-V-E and H-A-T-E tattooed on his fingers, barbed wire tattooed on his neck and a tear drop tattooed below his eye is the alpha of all alphas, the elusive Chad McChaderthon himself.

Also these, low value males are easy to spot because they think being allies to female causes and attacking men online will garner them affection from women.

Other things that makes a man low value is if he has low amounts in at least 2 of these categories and is not very high up in the third category.

Looks (Height, face, race)
Money (physical cash, material possession, networth)
Social status (respect from peers, job status, liked by others, social connections)

Males who score low in at least 2 of these areas and can't compensate by being high in the third will also be deemed low status by women.

Dude... low value isn’t a good term to use, but serves as the other end of the spectrum (so to say) of high value.

High value doesn’t have to mean a person of wealth, good looks or even social status - though these things MAY be INDICATORS of a high value person. A high value person is someone who has their life reasonably well put-together. It’s someone who is kind and compassionate and takes care of their own shit, while willingly helping others. It’s someone who adds value to the lives of those around them, instead of taking selfishly without giving back.

Think, for example, the young adult who, instead of pursuing a career, chooses to waste away at their parents’ home, making a mess, being rude and entitled, never helping out and always playing games/ watching TV. That’s a low value person.

Essentially, high vs low value is all about a person’s priorities, how they look after themselves and treat others... basically so they strive to be the best possible versions of themselves vs someone who is selfish, unkind, lazy, entitled etc.

They don’t do anything … they are stagnant men. The type of guy who has no plans or no drive. You could say the same for woman counterparts, even though men care less about this apparently.

Also men over like 35 who hit on or actively pursue anyone under 30. But this is my personal opinion. I always found it to be a red flag, even when I was 20 and considered in my “prime” … these were the creepy guys.

In my circles the average man has an education, a professional job, a car, doesn’t have roommates, has hobbies and friends. Someone who doesn’t have those things isn’t going to register as “average” when that’s your circle.

the vast majority of people in the real working functioning world aren’t living on love island or living in a trailer park. So if you shift the low value / high value conversation to normal people and exclude the cartoonish outliers people love to cite so much, you have people who are basically on equal ground who are then evaluated based on things like their work ethic / ambition, personality, what actually are those hobbies? I think the majority of people would consider “value” in those nuances, not in the giant red flags that for the average person would totally disqualify someone entirely.

LVM that are not scum of the earth but just largely invisible to women are men who aren’t very social, don’t work out, don’t have many/any passions, make less than the median wage of the state or province they live in, and that have mostly solitary hobbies like gaming. They also probably live with a roommate at best.

Things that might make them lower are if they have porn addiction or anxiety and are overweight or may have some other mental issues like depression that needs to be dealt with and may ultimately be keeping them back. These men may have great families and good morals, above average even compared to HVM women chase, but they never get to share it with a woman they actually desire till they figure out how to be more attractive, which pretty much means they’ll have to make more than the median wage and go to the gym and develop some talent or passion that makes them stand out.

Most of these men would treat their women with respect and are ready to love a woman that actually chose them and would even try to help LVW that they are attracted to if they had issues. Many are dying for a chance to prove how good of a boyfriend they’d be. Due to lack of experience, when they finally or luckily get such a woman they still might mess up due to being too logical and not vulnerable enough and in tune with their emotions enough to keep her interested in him.

I say all this with love and as someone who has many of these qualities and wants to do better myself.

It can be argued that men with actual drug addictions to heroine or meth are lower but that’s not most of the people in here. Same with abusive guys. It’s sad that abusive guys many times are higher value than the LVM I am referencing.

Doesn't exercise, eats poorly, struggles financially, holds little to no accolades, complains about reality constantly, not confident, can't contribute to a conversation, makes fun of other people, thinks they know everything about anything, dresses poorly, can't make accurate decisions, holds thoughts and beliefs that only contribute to this cycle of mediocrity.

Stuff like this, unfortunately, a lot of these behaviors and actions can come as a result of depression and anxiety. So it feels harsh to point these things out, however, in reality, you will just continue to be handed the shit end of the stick when you're stuck in these ways.

The good news is that it's really not hard to come out of this, you just need to tweak one or two things and it's a snowball effect from there for most. Everyone who has improved started from somewhere that wasn't ideal, but unfortunately, you will run into more people who haven't started their journey of improvement than those who have and therefore you will find people trying to justify why they are the way that they are. Then by listening to the "masses" you think there's no way out and you obtain a library of excuses to make yourself. They will blame other circumstances for their position in life, which is only justifiable to a certain extent, most don't have that good of an excuse for their circumstances.

Apart from what others have said about looks, job and personality... A man who doesn't make me feel alive. A joe schmo who wakes up, burps, grabs a coffee and plays games.

I can elaborate on real life examples but I'll limit to one, my now husband. Met him during covid and he was in another country. He was so interesting and exciting, I braved the lockdowns and quarantines to see him. We both just went on a whirlwind trip to Europe... life is exciting with him. We have fun. I feel alive.

If there’s kids involved: does the bare minimum and leaves all the work to their partner.

They make up weird excuses like "hypergamy" to justify their own insecurities and prejudices against women. They constantly make references to "pills" from an old sci-fi movie. They cherry-pick irrelevant and poorly done sociology studies to "prove" no woman will ever want them. And complain that society has to change so supermodels will end up in their beds.
