I mean, for me personally- I find men, generally, to be very handsome and visually appealing. Women can be lovely, sure, but it's still, shrug. Women can't make me all tingly. So- that: the tingly-jingly feelings.

Men provide no unique value to society aside from reproduction, and neither do women. Whether someone provides value to society or the world would be better off without them is entirely dependent on the individual.

As others have stated, I think it’s a pretty big leap from men not being absolutely necessary (aside from reproduction) to society, vs society being better off without them. Men are 50% of society, just like women are 50% of society. So the “society would be better off without men” argument doesn’t land for me for the same reason the “women’s rights need to be limited for the good of society” arguments don’t land. Because men and women ARE society.

Nothing completely unique, but it's a lot easier for men to do physical things than women because of their strength. It doesn't matter, there's nothing anyone can do that can't be done by someone else. And that's ok.

Taking reproduction out of the equation they provide value to society in the same way women do. Society needs a variety of people with a variety of skill sets. Men and women are both needed.

I think the issue here is that usually when this topic is brought up it’s because men are looking for leverage to get sex by saying “if society wants/needs x then I want sex in return” as if they are going to get a government issued wife/sex slave and that isn’t going to happen.

So men are needed in society equally to women and if a man wants a wife then he needs make a fair trade with a woman so both side are happy.

None. Just like I don’t think there is a unique value women bring that can’t be provided by men. Men and women have different sex organs, and many people are attracted to those specific sex organs; both are required for reproduction; besides that, men can do everything women can do and women can do everything men can do, because we are really very similar. Men are generally a little bigger, so heavy-lifting tasks might require two women, or a little bit of technology; women can make milk, so men might have to rely on formula to feed babies. But that’s it.

I do believe that civilization wouldn't exist without the patriarchy. Of course, civilization is not good or bad, it has both positive and negative points. If we lived in a matriarchy, we would still be hunter-gatherers but that's not inherently bad.

If reproductive science keeps going the way it is, pretty soon we won't need men for births either. Are men wanted by a lot of women? Yes, it's nice when they're actual partners, but needed is a bit of a stretch besides birth, not going to lie.

Aside from reproduction there is not anything “unique” a specific gender provides society. Reproductive abilities are how we are different. If you exclude that, the gender isn’t really that important, the value one provides is more about individuals and their individual abilities and skills.

Men and women being equally valued does not mean society would be better off without men.

The value men provide isn't from being men, it's from being humans. The only things that each of us can do that the other can't are related to reproduction. Because we have far more in common than otherwise.

People aren't fungible - you can't just throw out one, and replace it with another with the same plumbing. People have all kinds of unique qualities. But other than reproduction, those qualities don't derive from your gender.

Which is a plea to men to value yourselves for things in addition to your gender, and also to assume that the things you're good at don't necessarily derive from your gender.
