Male,

Prior cheating is a deal breaker I guess

[–]TedescheMRA11 points12 points13 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This should be a dealbreaker for many more people.

[–]xanacop5 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"But he/she would never cheat on me like he/she did with him/her. He/She loves me."

[–]legaladvicequest15 points16 points17 points 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Lady here

kids from a previous relationship, because i don't want your ex in my life

prior cheating, because it's a you problem

cruelty towards animals or the powerless, because when you can't get something from them then you become an ugly person

lying, because i can't trust you

dependence, especially on me due to unwillingness to work- i'm a giver and won't tolerate a taker

lack of proximity, because time spent together is important

lack of fitness / hygiene, because beauty is important to me

physically or emotionally abusive tendencies / score keeping, because i'm not your enemy

mythology / religion, because it indicates you don't think rationally, which leads us into...

low intelligence, because i desire a capable partner

low libido / vanilla, because i'm stuck with you forever

smokes cigarettes / alcoholism, because i'll lose you too soon

I mean, most of those are pretty reasonable, but an honest question. How successful are for finding a guy who consistently fits the bill?

[–]legaladvicequest13 points14 points15 points 7 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

I worked my butt off in high school to get into a top university and once I was in that bubble, it took me until age 21 to find one guy who fits everything here plus a lot of criteria that other people find important such as wealth, advanced educational level, a kind family, and height. We got married at 24 after dating for 3 years.

Something that's important is to be available when you find the right person. Don't be dating people who don't meet your standards just because they're into you and you're lonely. Meet lots of people and next the merely OK fits. If you try to be everything you want in a mate... quality will find quality.

Something that's important is to be available when you find the right person.

Here I want to pitch in that you shouldn't put the right person on the back burner in a "let's married when we're 30"-way.

[–]legaladvicequest0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Let me suggest that if you're not excited to marry them, then they probably aren't the right person. Settling is dangerous.

  1. Overly any -ist, be that feminist, Christianist, Atheist, etc. Moderation is important, empathy is important. If you're the only moral person in your world and everyone from the other side is just a bunch of stupid irredeemable evil people... I tend to think you might not be the perfect moral paragon you think you are.
  2. Overly fat. Sorry, not sorry. I'm fit. I eat well. My clothes fit. It's not too much to ask the same of my partner.
  3. Reasonably intelligent
  4. Reasonably independent, so I can have good conversations with my reasonably intelligent girlfriend about the hobbies and interests she has that I don't share that I can learn about to make her happy, etc.
  5. No kids. I'd ONS a single mom. I would not date or marry one.
  6. Some semblance of a career. Doesn't have to be turbo lucrative, but I'd prefer it to be something beyond "waitress," though if she was hot and interesting enough, shit yeah.
  7. Not sedentary. I like lazy days, I am a lazy asshole, but I work my ass off and when I go play, I play fucking hard. I'd want someone who's a little bit of both.
  8. Not extreme. I'm not going to eat nothing but kale and sunflower seeds for the rest of my life. I like tiramisu and fettucine alfredo and alcohol, I intend to enjoy those things from time to time and I'd like to share those moments with someone meaningful to me.

There's probably more, but that's all I can think of at the moment.

Hmm how lovely. How are you going to determine this? Get out a yardstick or a tally sheet and conduct a poll? I hate this mentality. Are you giving her more than you gave your ex?

[–]Barely-moralMostly red though0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

How are you going to determine this?

I can do my research. If I can't, a private investigator can. If new informations comes in, my standards change.

Are you giving her more than you gave your ex?

Of course. Everything my previous partners got, my current partner gets as a base.

[–]p3n3lop3Black Pill& Waiting on the Singularity3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

LOL a private investigator to find out how many men she slept with and what kind of sex she gave them??? AHAHAHAH good luck lmao

[–]Barely-moralMostly red though0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

All I need is one instance of she doing something that she is likely to hide. Then I ask her about it. If she lies, I am out. If she answers honestly, I believe her.

Then I can ask her everything about her past. If I at any point find out that she lied to me, I am out.

[–]p3n3lop3 1 points1 points1 points 7 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

You're an idiot.

[–]Barely-moralMostly red though0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Core rule number 2. Be civil.

I don't remember insulting you.

If you disagree with me that is ok. Present your case.

I know that I want a partner that is willing to give me her best. So I have to find what her best is.

Sure, I will need to ask her. In order to believe her I need to test how honest she is. The best way I found to know if a woman is honest is asking something that she is likely to hide that I know about. If she is honest about that, then I can trust her (at least until I find her lying.)

What sense are you using this in , ie do you include strippers in that? Or do you just mean it in the strict sense of prostitution

[–]philomexaIF THE POISON WON'T TAKE YOU MY DOGS WILL2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

prostitution mainly, cam girls are a grey area, strippers are a non issue (provided the stripper is viewed as entertainment rather than sexual outlet)

[–]whitetrashcarlselfish ghost2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ah yeah ok , that’s what I was sorta thinking in line w the rest of your post but wasn’t clear

Is that ‘cause it’s undignified?

[–]philomexaIF THE POISON WON'T TAKE YOU MY DOGS WILL4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

no, cause it signifies a world view of quid pro quo sex, as well as low sexual value.

And yes, the standard also applies to uber chad rockstars.

[–]SkookumTreeWe are DONE with "cope"-2 points-1 points0 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Hmm. Our Chad rockstar could have visited a prostitute on tour for the hell of it because he and his boys were on tour in Amsterdam.

[–]SkookumTreeWe are DONE with "cope"1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

So a math professor who sells his fine art on the side doesn’t cut it? Or does he? How about math professor by day, rock musician by night?

[–]philomexaIF THE POISON WON'T TAKE YOU MY DOGS WILL1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

A math professor is much more interesting (and tolerable) than an engineer/programmer/etc.

[–]SkookumTreeWe are DONE with "cope"2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Hmm. How about engineer-musicians? A biomedical engineer that is passionate about oil painting...or a mechanical engineer that loves chainsaw carving and has won local contests?

[–]Queracus0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

She doesn’t really want an artist per se. She wants a cool, hot, fashionable art-type guy to compliment her unique personality. There are many brilliant artists who don’t fall into the stereotype, she’s not talking about them. More a guy who smokes American Spirits and listens to indie bands than a dorky guy who makes woodcarvings.

[–]philomexaIF THE POISON WON'T TAKE YOU MY DOGS WILL0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

HA! I'll believe that when I see it.

[–]SkookumTreeWe are DONE with "cope"3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There are probably some artist-engineers: engineers with an art hobby on the side. Chainsaw carving or woodcarving might appeal to the engineering mind. Does woodworking count? There are probably a lot of engineers who are interested in woodworking, some of whom even enter their work in competitions.

[–]exit_sandmanstill not the MGTOW sandman FFS0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Or generally doesn't conform to the idea of the typical STEM nerd.

Though that stereotype doesn't exist for no reason, a friend of mine is an engineer and still charming, gregarious, handsome, slim (not skinny) and physically active ("sporty" would be pushing it though), and I strongly doubt that women with a "no nerdz lol"-policy would dismiss him out of hand.

I'm a woman

My dealbreakers, for a person who I want to be with in all other respects:

Is not kind to me

Is not kind to people other than me

Takes more than 30 minutes to go see them

Doesn't wish to participate in any, or just prohibitively few, of the activities I enjoy (working out, rock climbing, talking about dumb shit like I do here, watching shows that I like, the beach, hiking, learning new things, painting, listening to the eclectic subset of music that I like)

Doesn't get along with my family/friends

Childfree/dislikes children/wouldn't make a good parent (short temper, unwilling to compromise, etc)

Doesn't get my jokes/thinks I'm not funny

Boring/lazy

Lack of a strong worldview/set of principles that are his own

Not wanting marriage/kids

Neuroticism

[–]justtypingcuz 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

[–]_anothergumnut_♀🐰2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

if he puts more weight in the rules/law than his own principles then i find that super unattractive. i don't like guys who aren't willing to make their own rules.

[–]justtypingcuz 1 points1 points1 points 7 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I think it's more being smart than anything. I was sent to an institution for the first time when I was a kid for beating up and robbing an old lady when I was drunk/high af.

My m8m left when I was 10 and once she left my life just became drinking, doing drugs and hanging out with my brothers friends (my brother was an OG)

But despite my history i still act like a bitch when cops are aound cuz at this point i know that's the smartest thing to do.

Going against the law is a battle you'll never win.

But I'm not white, maybe you people get more leniency and get to act out more than we do. We can't do that

[–]_anothergumnut_♀🐰2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

when i talk about putting principles ahead of the law, i'm obviously not talking about principles that involve getting high and beating up old ladies.

i like intelligent men who have strong principles that i can align myself with, and who live by those principles. not thugs in juvie.

Straight woman:

HAS OR WANTS BIO KIDS: I have no interest in having kids of my own or raising someone else's kids.

DEAD BEAT THAT CAN'T HOLD A JOB: I don't want to be your sugar momma.

CHEATER: Because I don't want to get cheated on. If you want to have outside sex fine, but you have to have an open relationship (I hate dishonesty) and you can't be banging a ridiculous amount of side pieces

DRUG ADDICT/ALCOHOLIC: been there, never again.

HIGH LIBIDO/NON-VANILLA: I have a low libido and don't have any sort of kinks. After the initial honeymoon phase I have no interest in having sex more than once a week. I don't want to get pissed on, "dominated", choked, call you daddy or any other weird shit.

RELIGIOUS/RP/RIGHT WING: Because I am a left wing atheist.

LOOKS: NO TALL GUYS OVER 6'0, NO SHORT GUYS BELOW 5'4, NO BODY BUILDERS OR OBESE GUYS

[–]reluctantly_red2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Only guys with few other options would be OK with this.

[–]TheMedsPedsBlue Pill Woman2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Luckily I found one. My husband has back problems and doesn’t like to have sex too often either because it fucks with his mutated disk. I usually just give him hand jobs and he’s happy with that since I don’t need the favor returned. So these guys def exist, just aren’t too common.

So how are you for physical affection outside of sex?

[–]TheMedsPedsBlue Pill Woman0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm all for it. Cuddling, kissing, holding hands, that's all great. I am just not an extremely sexual person. I don't mind a few hand jobs a week or a blow job here and there. But getting all into the mood, with dirty talk, role playing, kink, it's just not very...me. As a teen I was a bit hornier but sex doesn't cross my mind on the daily basis at least to the point where on a random Tuesday after I leave the house I'd want to go home and and get my slit slammed for 2 hours.

25, but I would say I started out fairly vanilla until women coerced me into trying more and more stuff and now I just generally prefer sex to be somewhat taboo as its more fun.

I know anal tends to be a huge topic among men here for some reason never cared about it, had it with two separate women both times it being their idea not my own.

The amount of women I have met with DDLG fetishes or light bondage needs are no small amount.

Male. I think mine are for the most part pretty standard, although I might care more about education and career more than most. The only interesting one I have is tattoos. The reason as to why I feel so strongly about this is a mystery to me. I was once involved with a girl who I discovered had a discrete and tasteful tattoo above her ankle and for whatever reason it was a huge turn off for me.

Lack of structured morals, lack of intelligence*, unreasonable rigidity, any features of psychopathy.

Characterizes normal social courtesies and politeness as "being forced to lie or unfairly change their personality."

This is oddly specific. Do you have an example, or a story behind this?

[–]BleuBird189 points10 points11 points 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I probably just don't know the broader term... Ever meet someone that is proud of being a disruptive asshole? Then when people are predictably irritated by said asshole, they use idiotic lines such as "I'm just being honest/myself" as a defense?

Most people will tailor their personality and how they express themselves to fit the situation. These people on the other hand, enjoy being jerks, and then blame others for 'being uptight.'

It's posturing, juvenile behavior that is frankly embarrassing... But the people that do this lack the social awareness necessary to realize how dumb they look. In fact, they generally think they come off looking awesome, or believe they are better than the' lemmings' that get along with normal social patterns.

It's the impression most twerps give off when they talk online, and I have encountered some in the real world. Cringe from beginning to end.

[–]SkookumTreeWe are DONE with "cope"0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

It is hard to pull off being abrasive and insensitive. I’ve only seen it done a couple times. If you are very honest - even about your own flaws - and very caring it can be done though with difficulty. Usually it just makes you look like an asshole. When it is done successfully it’s a hell of a thing to see though!

[–]BleuBird181 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

If you can laugh at yourself, and are caring, then that's not the type of person I am talking about.

It's the type that says they like to 'debate' and get progressively more condescending and rude and pushy. They lack tact, awareness, and intelligence. Stubborn bullies that everyone tries to ignore as much as possible.

It's fine to have strong opinions, and be lively. If people are engaging the person and having fun, it's because they know how to converse and read their audience and joke. And that's not the type I am talking about.

This is the socially inept asshole that loves to bully people and in the process, thinks they are just being charismatic and 'dominant'.

[–]SkookumTreeWe are DONE with "cope"0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I mean, the people I was talking about were very tactless. Socially inept and the least tactful people you ever saw but very caring and very honest. Didn’t care about dominance or charisma. Very few TRPers are that caring or that honest.

[–]SkookumTreeWe are DONE with "cope"0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just wondering... Why are Band tees/skate shoes/trucker hats and Excessive tattoos deal breakers?

[–]panzershark0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I just don’t really like the way it looks, tbh. It brings me back to middle school/high school. If it’s something you wear every now and then that’s fine, but if that’s what you exclusively wear then that’s a different matter.

Excessive tattoos partially because my parents hate them and so it sort of rubbed off on me even though it’s kind of irrational. To me a bunch of tattoos has no rhyme or reason and it looks a bit grungy. One or two is fine. Even a bigger sleeve is fine. Just a personal preference. I have no tattoos.

Doesn’t take good care of herself.

Doesn’t enjoy femmeing it up on the regular. Idgaf how she looks indoors with me, and i could care less how she looks when just bumming around doing errands, but i need some effort in the feminine charm department on date night. No always sloppy sweatpants addicts or frumpy utilitarians.

I don't mean a guy has to be into my witchy shit, but he can respect it from a distance or show interest in my hobbies.

  4. Following the rules too much. I've had guys my age reject sex because "they don't skip class". No, I'm not ugly. I'm definitely above average, and even if I was average, teenage boys are supposed to be high libido. What's in the water these days?

  5. weird attitude about sex. don't be obsessed with sex and say weirdo shit or always expect sex, but don't be afraid to kiss me or make a move.

  6. Boringness. It's more for his sake than mine. I understand why men like nice quiet sweet girls that are introverted and all that shit but I'm a retard that will rail Adderall before facetiming 6ix9ine's friend and explaining his life path number to him. My life is always exciting 24/7.

Male. LTR deal breakers: has kids, smokes, personality is heavily defined by religious/political beliefs of any kind. Serious, current drug use or current heavy drinking. Don’t care if you did blow one time at a wedding 4 years ago. Don’t care if you drank a lot at parties in college and casually drink now.

Lots of personality dealbreakers: I need to know someone's personality to be attracted, and I love blunt, abrasive, caring people. Not many physical dealbreakers. I could get with a woman that looked like Freddy Kreuger if she had a personality I found very attractive - assuming it wasn't heritable!

That's a long list, I define my ideal partner more along the lines of dealbreakers than having a laundry list of "must haves"

  • has kids
  • doesn't want kids, is the opposite of family-oriented
  • current or former slut or sex worker
  • history of cheating and/or STD (mentioning both separately because even though they correlate with sluttiness, you can still check that box without being one)
  • criminal record
  • doesn't like sex (or doesn't like sex with me) and everything that comes with it: never initiates, isn't visibly enjoying herself, isn't adventurous and prefers to stick to vanilla sex, is content with having rather little sex etc.
  • SJW or SJW leanings, or other extreme opinions (that can cover basically everything regarding religion and politics)
  • mental illness, addiction, psychological disorders or trauma
  • legitimately alpha-widowed
  • has an extremely unpleasant personality (rude, bitchy, entitled, overly demanding, extremely clingy, notorious liar, looks down on people socially below her etc.)
  • stupid, ignorant, no sense of humor; mostly or completely incompatible regarding likes, dislikes or interests (this is one bullet point because they tend to go hand in hand)
  • above or below a certain age
  • oh, and I should find her physically attractive (this includes not having a questionable hygiene)

Let's see......any arrest for anything other than like some weed when they were a kid, any extremely deviant sexual interests, alcoholism/drug addiction, being 100% totally certain decided one way or another on kids (still unsure myself), having kids, someone who's previous SO died while they were still together, oh haha being involved in the manosphere, any cockiness/arrogance, previous history of cheating on a SO, previous history of violence towards a SO, animal abuse, disliking animals and not wanting pets, idk there's just so much haha

But no as a deviant i am always curious where other ppl draw the line.

[–]lefactorybebe0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Well there's like the obvious like pedophilia, incest, beastislity, etc. But then personally the whole dd/lg thing freaks me out, no extremely rough stuff (no punching/hitting), I know some people like it, but no choking, nothing that's painful to me lol.

[–]petrichordiummidsommar pill0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I can understand all of these. DDLG is cringe from the outside, but I swear it’s just a massive con for girls to top from the bottom and be total brats. As for choking, dating someone who can only orgasm with a hand around her throat gets a little old. All in all, i approve of this list from the other side of the deviance tracks.

[–]lefactorybebe0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Dealbreakers...hmmm

- Significant materialism

- Significant Jealousy issues

- Monogamous

- Not progressive

- Not scientifically and politically literate

- Not above average in sex drive

- Family isn't first life priority/doesn't enthusiastically want to be a parent

- Abusive habits like gaslighting, avoiding responsibility, lying, and hostile emotional manipulation

- Addiction of any kind

- Unaddressed mental illness

- History of infidelity (specifically violating agreements within the relationship with regard to it)

- History of physical abuse as perpetrator

- Bowing to parents as an adult in any significant way or other such issues where their family should lose to their partner in priority and doesn't.

- Inability to maintain or establish healthy boundaries in or out of the relationship.

I could probably go on. I'm a guy.

  • Significant Jealousy issues

How do all of these things fit together? Just curious.

[–]TriadFamilyTimesEverything I know I learned from group sex2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

No jealousy issues is a no brainer. Not progressive is too. If you are jealous or you're not progressive, please go.

Monogamous is also simple. I don't date people who aren't into open relationships.

The last is a common misconception. Open relationships still have rules and boundaries and if someone has a history of breaking rules and boundaries they've agreed upon, go away. A history of infidelity indicates someone who can't be trusted, including within the context of an open relationship.

[–]TheBookOfSeilCuckleberry Finn0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Sooo....... they have to be some type of poly-, whether it be polygamous or polygynous, not prone to jealousy, not a cheater, and progressive.....

...... and this sounds like a relationship, how?....

Sounds more like some FWB type thing than it does any sort of actual relationship, but whatevs. Do your thing.

[–]Gravel_RoadsJust a Pill0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Open relationships are still founded on love and trust and honesty. Sex is just more often treated like a "social past time" in open relationships -- I'm in one. I don't get jealous if my partner goes out for coffee nor do I get jealous if my partner goes home with someone they got coffee with. I'd only have a problem if he was deceiving me or lying to me about what he's doing. Otherwise, I love seeing him have fun, and I think everyone should drop to their knees and suck his dick. He's awesome. I'd die on a battlefield for him.

[–]TheBookOfSeilCuckleberry Finn0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I’m not saying that it’s wrong. I’m just saying that, by current relationship standards, this type of relationship would fall somewhere in between a friendship and an exclusive relationship, which would be like a friends with benefits thing but with more emphasis on the “friends” part.

Male, bisexual.

Hard No for both men and women:

Bullies, close-mindedness, jealousy, double-standards, people who sacrifice themselves to fit into society, guilting, dependency on me to fix their emotions, asking me for money, fear of new things, wanting to control my schedule or where I go and when. Also people who get emotional “for” me or try to coerce me into showing emotion or giving validation when I don’t feel like it... People that abuse or mistreat animals or family members.

There’s probably more, I tend to reject about 75% of all advances in grounds of incompatibility. People are really stupid and don’t do this often enough. I’d rather not have a partner than have a partner that makes me crazy.

[–]Gravel_RoadsJust a Pill0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It’s more that I’m open to entertain the possibility that it’s worth getting to know the person further. Sometimes, even if I can’t fathom how a dynamic would work, but I’ve been open to letting someone ‘paint a picture for me’, I’ve found I enjoy the company of many more types of people than I’d have thought.

But no, I’ve only been fully into like... 4-5 people in my life, either. Everything else is just kinda killing time with interesting company.

You have been attracted to people? How so?

[–]Gravel_RoadsJust a Pill0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It doesn't really look different when you have a low sex drive. Maybe I'm a little more engaged by personality and narrative, but attraction just means "drawn to". And there are people who have definitely successfully "drawn" me to them. I'm just better at "approaching" than your average pick-up artist, so it just kind of manifests as "making friends". I always try to keep people who have a good chemistry in my life, even if they don't feel romantically towards me, because comparability is so precious.
