There definitely seems to be a significant albeit small percentage of women doing it, but what's concerning imo is the number of women who want to or are trying to. Just looking at sugar forums and the number of basic, normal and below average women who are like "yeah I'm fat and non-binary and whatever other buzzword but how can I get a rich conventional SD?"

I suspect a significant amount of women do it than we realise in the dating market under 25.

The main difference is that the majority of sugar baby girls aren’t on websites or openly charging men for their company.

Most women who do it probably wouldn’t say they are doing it. They may not even acknowledge it to themselves.

I knew a girl in highschool 2 younger than me who sort of did this. She was an ordinary girl, popular, modest and not poor. I think it’s less interesting what percentage of total women participating. What would be really interesting is what percentage of attractive women is participating.

I know men that participate, and I have personally been offered IRL on more than one occasions. If I had to guess I’d say 5-10%? But maybe 25-50% for attractive women?

In terms of effect, I think it effects the average guy very little other than they might get butt hurt over a woman’s history. It does however shift the power from physically attractive men to wealthy high status men somewhat.

Chiming in here since I’ve had several sugar babies over the last 5ish years and have interacted with many interested women, most of whom were in college. The concept or knowledge of sugardating and SA is mainstream in colleges particularly in sororities, and even in high schools. One girl told me it was a topic of discussion in a civics class where the kids debated its ethics. I would guess if a girl is in a sorority in in a university in a major metropolitan city, she is certain to have knowledge based on how much women talk to each other about this. However, I think the actual number of women who sign up on a sugar dating site and then actually follows through with a meeting or arrangement is exceeding small in percentage terms. Vast majority know and are curious, but won’t actually do it. I’m fairly certain because I live 10 minutes from 3 major universities, and there’s probably 10+ colleges and universities in the metro area. Yet the number of college women I see on SA is fairly small (in the hundreds?), considering that there’s probably 50,000+ college women going in and out of the city every fall/spring. Thus the claim that every other woman in college is looking to sugar date doesn’t make sense to me.

In recent years, older women (30-40 year olds) have massively influxed into SA and has mostly displaced college age women. However, I don’t sugar date above age 28 or so, so I don’t know their perspective.

the study that show that even women increase in not having any sex would imply that women don't evolve to become more promiscuis. Sure most women could do that easier then in the past, but most seem to not use this methods, not even in america.
