I think what a lot of blue pill people misunderstand is that there is a world of difference between technically knowing something and genuinely understanding it.

You know that experiment where you tell people some statistic that is objectively true about human behavior and they technically understand what you said well enough to repeat it but then you show them examples of real situations where that statistic applies and they functionally completely forget about it and are in disbelief when the statistic holds true?

It's basically the same thing with blue pill people, They can technically know something obvious like that the halo effect is a thing, but in practice they are very unlikely to actually apply that piece of information to real life. By example They will still insist that their super attractive friend is successful because he's confident and will never really consider the possibility that they attribute confidence to his behavior because he's attractive rather than because his behavior is particularly confident.

They will ignore obvious implications for things, maybe they think makeup is something women do for themselves, maybe they switch the order of things so that Bob would be successful if only he tried when in reality Bob stopped trying because he wasn't successful when he did, maybe they don't accept the necessity of generalisations because it makes them feel bad to be told they aren't all that special etc...

It's not to say that the flaws my past self had were completely different because those are very human flaws, but they were different enough that I can distinguish between my past self and your current self pretty easily and I'm talking about people like you when I think of blue pillers, not so much my past self.

I'm describing the nice guys who chime in every time the object of their desire gets her heart broken by someone she deems worthy of her vagina with you deserve so much better, I would never treat you like that.

I'm describing my divorced male friends who have been alienated from their kids. I think OP is correct that when RP guys describe BP, they are talking about their former selves rather than mainstream opinion.

Guys in this thread are claiming that BP will tell you that looks don't matter in dating, which I don't think anyone seriously believes. I've always taken advice about not focusing on looks to be something more akin to not worrying about things you can't change, which is absolutely solid advice in life.

Of course you can take steps to change certain aspects of your appearance, and RP guys will focus on telling guys to go to the gym and focus on your career. Again, this isn't something which one needs the RP to realise. Obviously there are plenty of reasons you should work on both these things, if not for dating reasons then for your own sake.

RP gets you with these really obvious, basic suggestions about how to improve your life but packages a bunch of bullshit with it. Teaching men to emotionally abuse women and creating dependency through negging (both women and one another) and so many grifts and scams that anyone who isn't desperate is going to see right through.

You can abandon that nonsensical stuff and still keep going to the gym guys.

After not very much scrutiny, what becomes very apparent is that “the real truth” that Red Pill holds is ideals that are very basic common sense things that the average joe is already aware of (even if they don’t do anything about it themselves).

If that was true red pill wouldn't have been a thing at all though. Whole thing began with men that made mistakes sharing notes and finding points that were a bit too similar.

Red Pillers seem to describe “Blue Pill” people as the majority who believe the world actually works like Disney movie or romantic comedy. Speaking to actual adults with experience in dating, most are painfully aware that this is not the case. That looks and behaviour matters in dating and hookups.

The entirety of ppd live in a fantasy world, because be it men or women, no one is secretely plotting to dunk on their ass specifically. What is described there does apply on a more subtle scale about interpersonal dynamic.

Blue Pill people have these beliefs because if they did not, they would not have to lie about how happy and successful their marriages are to other.

All married people say "Fine! Oh, we're so FINE!" but really, how many marriage are actually even close to fine? 50%? 25%? Half will end in divorce. So right out of the chute, HALF of the people saying "Fine we're fine!" are bold faced liars. There is social pressure to hide the fact their marriage is devolving into two angry room-mates.

I think 10-20% of marriages are "fine" and the other 80% like because society shames and punishes those who "can't make it work".

This is what Blue Pill is. Shame. Lies. Cognitive dissonance and wilful ignorance.

And it's also sexist as all fucking hell against men while excusing some of the shittiest female behaviour imaginable.

Bluepill just means “not redpill”. I think one has to actively disagree with and reject every redpill principle to be considered a truly bluepilled man. Most guys I know are in fact purple pilled, and would agree with many of the redpill principles (though not necessarily all of its conclusions), even if they’ve never heard of the term redpill before.

I think you make the mistake of seeing red pill and blue pill as only 1 pill, but it's multiply many many pills, so just because "blue pill people" have some awareness about some things, doesn't make them red pill. Or you could say it's a spectrum and at some cutting point you can claim the label, like some make the argument that gayness is a spectrum, yet nobody would say just because somebody can watch gay porn as man without puking he is no gay, he is probably more gay than the person that has to puke if we see it as spectrum yet for normal porpuse we would say he is not gay at all.

What I find more interesting is the prescriptive part of the red pill, which basically goes even against the idea of red pill, because in matrix taking the red pill only let's you see the reality, what you do with that knowledge is not part of the red pill in that movie, yet it seems it's of this movement.

And then red pillers say to you statistically marriage really sucks but many because they trojan horse in their religious / right wing believes say instead of look at the statistics and never marry or cohabitate, I claim without any proof / data except some anecdotes that are short term experiments for a live time marriage, that if you hold frame right, then you are guaranteed to not get divorce raped. That's the part I have problems, and they should preface this parts of their ideology that they now leave science and statistics and that this is their believe system mostly seperated or at best loosely connected to science.

And yes obviously "blue pill" describes also them before they were red pill, because not beeing red pill automatically means you are blue pill, except you were maybe black pill.

A lot of self-described RP have gone through a transition period. I hate using the phrase but they “become woke”. They are waking up and realizing they have been lied to. Saying people live in a Disney fantasy world in their head is a little dramatic. These people are normal, functional member of society that just have some bad opinions. They have fallen victim to a narrative being spewed by a manipulative force.

As an example. Your local government is having a vote. They want to increase the taxes so they can fix the roads. A BP might see that and say “oh good, the city is stepping up tp fix the roads. They just need a little extra of my hard earned money. That seems reasonable.” 5 years later, you are poorer, the city is richer, the roads are in terrible shape and the city is allocating funds to projects that don’t benefit anyone. You feel cheated, lied to. You now no longer trust the city, you view the local officials as liars, and you will probably never vote yes on another tax increase. You are probably seen as RP at this point.

You have woken up to the reality of the situation and in a rp/bp setting you will probably describe yourself as a former BP. This can be used with a lot of example

Personally I think a lot more people’s experience would be more like a Disney movie if they changed their expectations or based them less on physical looks. It struck me in high school that I was “that” girl and I could only date one guy. So I had a group of friends and a lot of people were obsessing over our lives instead of living their own. You could tell them your life wasn’t perfect, that you didn’t invite them because you didn’t actually know them, that it’s hard to talk to someone who can’t stop love/hating you for five seconds but it didn’t matter. And if you tried to set them up with eachother they were SUPER judgemental.

They were completely obsessed with shallow things like looks and parties or whatever but couldn’t see us as people. That may be what’s behind the whole ideology. Basic narcissism.
