There’s no reliable correlation between looks and personality. I’ve also seen it claimed that hot women have bad personalities because they haven’t had to develop them. Don’t believe that either. All of these claims are purely anecdotal and seem to stem from resentment toward women in general. You’re going to meet more mean average people because most people are average. But most nice people are average too. Sometimes there’s a “halo effect” with attractive people where they seem nicer, but it is an illusion, although they can be very nice too.

I think everyone knows someone with a bad personality. Maybe they are average looking, maybe not. “A lot of my guy friends had toxic moms” does not make for a quantifiable sample size.

To share my personal observations, if you’ve ever been with someone for 2-3+ years, you will find them intolerable at times and begrudgingly find faults in their “bad personality”. However, personal observations is meant as a commentary and does not make for good sample size. 🤣

First of all, by definition, average is 50%+. I really doubt 50% + of the roughly 50% of humans who are women, so 25% + of humans are toxic.

Second, OP's sample of some of his friends' mothers and maybe a few women he himself knows is not representative enough to predict anything.

Unlike a lot of people in this thread, my experience is that most people are decent human beings, and quite a few, kind and nice. And there's a small percentage of people who are nasty.

I really don't think this corresponds at all with the way they look.. Some extremely ugly people might indeed become bitter over the years if they experience constant rejection, and some extremely attractive people might become too entitled and arrogant. This doesn't necessarily need to happen, but there's a chance it might, since they are outliers for whom their looks are a very relevant element in their lives.

But average looking people are just average, meaning they look pretty much like everyone else, so their looks don't specially influence their character.

To use a very unreliable sample as that of the OP, in my family, there were three extremely attractive people and two average. Three people (two of the very attractive ones and one average) have a really difficult character, two others (an attractive and an average) are much kinder and empathetic. Clearly it's a question of heredity and environment, and the looks have very little to do there.

First of all, you should learn what "average" is, because the claim that 80-90% of women are average/below average doesn't make any sense. It's like asking to pick a bigger half, it isn't correct.

Secondly, men on this sub constantly complain about women. Do you want to see similar discussions outside of this and similar to it communities? What for and how would it even happen?

Thirdly, "terrible personality" is subjective. I'd guess that there are a lot of shitty people of both genders, but chances are high my "shitty" is different to your "shitty", although you probably do agree with my sentiment overall.

Fourthly, how would you even prove your claim?

Basically, a lot of women can indeed be femcels, and they tend to be just as toxic as incels, such as the Karen phenomenon. I've noticed that women can be extremely aggressive and ruthless towards women they perceive as more physically attractive than them. Men do this as well. With women they don't have as much room in terms of outward expressions of hostility so it usually becomes much more sporadic, non-violent, and generally low-level aggressiveness... things like abusing staff at restaurants or retail.

Think it's more a people thing, you'd think the ones struggling would have to compensate with personnality somehow, but it's not the case in practice, they are often more bitter.

People like to laser focus on attractive people. And what is complained is more about the entitlement,especially as they age. But yeah, it's easier to be cheerful when attractiveness (or therefore lack of) doesn't cause you problems or is even a net positive in your life.

Because of selection effects. People who rise to prominent positions either has to have good looks/charisma or good personality. So people with bad looks and bad personality will be underrepresented in your everyday life. Hence, people with good looks and bad personality will seem more common than people with bad looks and bad personality.

I find attractive women also tend to have good personalities. I think it’s because they had a lot more opportunities to socialize growing up. Always getting invited to parties and having people come talk to them. Obviously some part of my feelings though are subconscious probably. This isn’t really a women thing, this happens with both genders. People who are less attractive sometimes become bitter which can easily snowball into a bad personality.

Think of the short guy with the bad temper. Every little thing sets him off. He probably had some rough times where being short made him either treated or just feel inferior. This eventually transitioned into him not being able to take criticism and popping off at the drop of a hat.

This same thing can happen with women who are less conventionally attractive. Though as a woman I personally see more exceptionally bad personalities from girls who are either extremely attractive or average-slightly below average. The slightly above average usually have the best personalities. And the least attractive usually are the sweetest girls I ever meet. But I’m a woman so maybe it’s a different perception for me.

I guess that depends on what your definition of a bad personality is. For me, I would say a "bad personality" is someone who is mean-spirited, always grumpy, likes to talk bad about other people frequently, very lazy, a racist, always negative, quick to lose their temper, has high levels of narcacissm, etc...

In my opinion, there is no correlation between physical appearance and level of personality. I've met some attractive people and some unattractive people with high levels of negative personality traits.

Secondly, you REALLY have to get to know someone and spend a lot of time with them before assessing what their personality is really like. When you meet someone for the first time, they (oftentimes) put up a front or act really nice for you, without necessarily displaying their true colors. So spending a substantial amount of time with someone will allow you to get a better idea of what they're like as a person and seeing whether or not they have an overall "terrible" personality.

It's... complicated. I've met hot guys and gals who literally were NOT able to have a proper conversation. They were either dumb as rocks OR they just never had to put effort into a conversation and never learned how to have one.

On the other hand, some of the sweetest people I've known have been attractive. It comes down to how they were raised or maybe they had ugly duckling syndrome, but also I feel like being attractive makes you more likely to LIKE being around other people - because people tend to like you more if you're attractive, spend more time with you, etc.

Weirdly I’ve found most hot women are kind ppl. Maybe they aren’t the funniest or most charming personality wise (due to ppl acting like what they say is more funny/interesting than it actually is) but bc they’re typically treated so kindly, they tend to think the world is a kinder place and are usually kind in response to that. It’s (for men and women) the bitter ppl who aren’t treated as kindly and subsequently become jerks (they typical image we have of an incel) that makes me think you’re right saying below average women are the ones who are jerks.

Sure some super hot women are stuck up, but in my own experience they’re nice more often than they are jerks.
