This is not true but I understand what you’re trying to say.

The truth is that most men (not all before people jump down my throat) dislike or hate their partners and only get into relationships for food, cleaning, and sex on tap. There’s an overwhelming amount of selfish men who know nothing about their gfs/wives, what they like, etc. and see time spent with her as a chore or time doing her hobbies as a nuisance.

Tons of men miss birthdays, anniversaries, make “we’re stuck together” or “ball and chain” jokes. Just literally the most basic shit. It’s unbelievable.

I don’t think a lot of men have capacity to love their partners as entire people, at least, not as intensely as they desire sex.

I don’t think this means they’re homoromantic, their selfishness just happens to intersect with other male friends’ interests. There’s no effort required when you already like the same stuff and think the same way.

I can buy this. Sometimes I joke that it's easier to pick up and have sex with self-identified straight men than it is with women. I'm sometimes tempted to go to a bar and try it out, and see which gender chats me up, buys me a drink and exchanges my number more often (what stops me is feeling bad for leading too many people on).

Of course, I also think a big part of it is young dudes these days are more culturally allowed to be open to sexual exploration, as opposed to the past where you wouldn't want to be caught with a dead woman or a live man. Plus, many more young men grow up in homes without a father and a crazy (BPD/NPD/HPD) mother, seeing the men in their lives as relatively good and women as relatively bad (in reality, 'mommy issues' may far outweigh daddy issues in terms of sexuality). There's a pathway for homoeroticism for every guy, but is more or less different for each.

I actually see what OP is trying to say and I think it operates off the assumption that "attraction" is all encompassing and any sort of "love/affection" is all the same thing just at varying degrees.

Like if you're straight, some people think that means that you ONLY like and are attracted to women, and that any affection towards men that aren't in your family is betraying your straight label. Add onto the fact that men are "supposed" to always be in competition for each other for women, you can see how any positive behavior toward another man that doesn't immediately benefit you can be seen as gay

I don't really think it's homo romanticism though. I'm sure plenty of men would love to do romantic things with women, but the thing is, for the bottom 80% of men that women aren't fighting over, romanticism is useless and it just won't work. UNLESS we're talking about the bottom 80% of women, in which case it's romantic for her for you to even take her to McDonalds cause the bottom 20% of women come from seriously fucked up situations.

Also men don't just befriend women they find attractive, it's very possible for men to friend zone women and on top of this, women do not "become friends" with men just for the fun of it. They almost always have something to gain
