its actually less than 20 now, this research has been done multiple times also by okcupid and Tinder showing women find 80% of men not even worth talking to. Also take into account the population of men on dating apps is 3x that of women making it even worse.

[–]bottleblank 118 points119 points120 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Which really grates when you hear stories of "my ex-boyfriend was a total dick" and demands that "men need to be better". Clearly there's some element of selection happening there, if you keep getting with guys who turn out to be dicks, but completely ignoring (or, worse, insulting and demonising) the sensible, stable ones who are just trying to get a decent job, settle down, and build a family. They were optimistic once. Their lack of meaningful connection drives them to depression, anxiety, and potentially hate. They weren't born that way.

Yeah, wife's best girlfriend in HS and college would always date the most detestable tool type guys that looked like they came out of A Night at the Roxbury. We would have great fun just hanging out with her BF du jour. It was like walking into Zoolander every time.

One day she started dating the first "normal" guy I'd seen her with and they married soon after. When talking to my wife about it she said basically "yeah, she picked a guy that was effectively the polar opposite of everything she wants in a man".

They've been married 20 years now. Honestly no idea if her husband knows that she doesn't (or didn't) like him, but they both seem happy enough, so guess she found out what works.

I honestly think picking a spouse is kinda like picking food. You have to stop eating candy and eventually put some vegetables on the plate.

[–]bottleblank 23 points24 points25 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That's both reassuring and yet simultaneously confirmation that it's true: nice guys do finish last, and get to spend years being overlooked whilst the socially successful have their fun.

What a life it must be to live in blissful ignorance.

[–]Tiny_Front 18 points19 points20 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Have fun during your 20s and wait at the finish line to pick the winners.

[–]tmpTomball 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

More like

you get out what you put in

Statistically.... men looking for wives have a few options:

  1. Date only women who do not participate in OLD
  2. Try to be in the top 10% on OLD
  3. Wait for a women on OLD to get past the YOLO phase and settle down.

Of the three #1 is by far the simplest solution. Here's a howto for #1

funny thing is, a low percent of people on dating apps search for the same-sex, but when men do, they get more matches, so it's not because most people on dating apps are men.

[+]Capital_Berry8880 -3 points-2 points-1 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

The data is only for dating apps though. There is no way that only 20% of the men are dating/in relationships

[–]pearl_harbour1941 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

There's another post here recently that showed that 63% of men aged 18-29 are single, but only 34% of women aged 18-29 are single. Literally half.

I can't exactly work that out.

[+]Capital_Berry8880 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I can't either XD like, who are those women dating then? Other women?

And then people wonder why there's been an increase of older virgin men. And when these older virgin men seek out escorts they get shamed for it by women smh. Men nowadays are basically in a lose lose situation. This is why a lot of men are getting passports to travel to different countries to find a women with realistic standards.

Feminism and beta male simps with dating apps and social media have destroyed the dating market for the average male

[+]Lolaindisguise -113 points-112 points-111 points 3 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

There's an increase in older virgins men because video games and the internet has them locked in their bedroom. Of course they're going to be virgins

[–]J_KILLA89 49 points50 points51 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's not 100 percent true. A lot of men go out but women don't seem interested in talking with them or call them creeps. Also online dating has screwed the scene up and gave women an unfair advantage

I'm not deflecting, I'm stating simple facts, you will never find anyone locked up inside - ever. I get it, most people are shitty, some people hurt your feelings, it's easier just to turn to your computer. The problem is that people are addicted to instant gratification, if anything is hard it's all of a sudden unattainable. Finding a spouse or just someone to lay with isn't easy, anything worth doing never is, in the end you can't give up because you will be the only one to suffer. You must keep trying. I told my friend that too. She didn't want to online date she wanted to meet organically. No one cares what you want, no one is going to break in to meet wonderful you, you must out yourself out there.

[–]APA770 46 points47 points48 points 3 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Internet and video games are not the reason. They are the response. Many men have realized that most women are extremely shallow and delusional, so there is no point in wasting time on them.

[–]bottleblank 26 points27 points28 points 3 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Even boys, who grow into those men.

I know I buried myself in solo nerdy pursuits when I was a teenager, because I just couldn't get people to treat me like a normal human being, I experienced a lot of bullying and ostracisation. What else was I supposed to do? I had to find value in my own company.

So, fast-forward 20 years, and I'm still alone, because I didn't have a healthy social network to help me grow into a socially and successful man, and I was still carrying the baggage of those years of being attacked just for who I was.

Yeah, I spend a lot of time indoors, using computers. That got me a career, eventually. What did being around people get me? Hurt. Real hard decision there, which one would you pick?

I'm not suggesting I hate people, or don't want to be around people, I really really do, but those years of massive isolation and loneliness (caused by other people) only reinforced the idea that I was never going to get a social life, or a partner, because I felt worthless. So now I have a lot of catching up to do and no tools, people, or experience to do it with.

[+]Lucky-Slice399 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I hope you succeed in whatever it is you are doing. Stay strong.

[–]SwoleFeminist 72 points73 points74 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

When these same men decide to stop playing video games and try to get a girlfriend, they're told that they're "not entitled to sex" and to focus on hobbies instead. So they do get a hobby and get told by you that they're not getting dates because they spend too much time on hobbies.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

[–]J_KILLA89 41 points42 points43 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lool exactly. This is why I never listen to dating advice from boomers. They have no idea how fucked up the dating scene is nowadays

[+]Capital_Berry8880 -23 points-22 points-21 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Of course they are not entintled to sex, no one is. The victim mentality is strong here. You can have many hobbies and still get dates

[–]hogermite 22 points23 points24 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

A woman explaining (is there a word for that? Hmmm) why there’s an increase in older virgin men to other men like SHE’s the expert. LOL

Can't meet people out and about anymore, "they're not there to be hit on"

[–]tmpTomball 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

There's an increase in older virgins men because video games and the internet has them locked in their bedroom.

Not totally wrong. If 80% of women pick 20% of men on OLD, then the solution for men is to not date through OLD. So yes, men need to get off the console and ask women out in-the-wild.

But since 80% of the women meet all there dating need through OLD, it is very difficult. Not impossible, just very difficult.

Would be "nice" if women weren't drawn to the OLD / hookup scene, but that's a women's issue not a men's issue. We can only work with what we got.

[–]SkippioAfrikanus 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I play video games and have had more than 45 partners. Several long term relationships. Several few month relationships. You can be decent looking guy and still not want to deal with the bullshit of sleeping with someone. It’s almost always empty sex. What’s wrong with you all that you want that?

[–]Llorion 36 points37 points38 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Only 80%? I doubt it's that low.

[–]J_KILLA89 29 points30 points31 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It's probably 95 percent nowadays

[–]Llorion 24 points25 points26 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

And being 5'4" myself, I can easily crank that up to around 99%. Most women have guys like me automatically filtered out...lol!

[–]IllustraSeris 392 points393 points394 points 3 years ago (36 children) | Copy Link

Stop simping Kings... A majority of men's problems would be solved.

[–]Loumier 25 points26 points27 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Men should start denying any sort of privilleges to women and then they will realize how equality really is. I won't be an asshole towards women for any reason but I totally refuse to give them anything.

[–]IllustraSeris 19 points20 points21 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Absolutely.

My own 35 yo sister act feminist all the times, but when she has any problem, she asks my retired father for money, and all of us, her brothers, to stand for her when she get in trouble, to help her with house manual work and so on.

When she her husband does what she wants, she act like a empowered feminist with everyone, when he fails or is far from home, she suddenly become a vulnerable tradwife.

I'm SICK of this, men's simping isn't only concerns women who want to sleep with, it's just all women, even your family.

I always called her out for her feminist schrodinger attitude, but nobody cares.

The funniest part is that my other sisters and my mother absolutely dont help her the slightest while expecting us to deal with her bullshit LOL, nice sisterhood

The truth is, like I read here one time, women are blessed with men attention, most men just have a natural tendency to care and think about everybody as a society, while most women primarly care about women, and our modern society suffer from this

Staying a traditional male in a modern women dominated society is extremely harmful, it's just turns us into simps

Don't think most women are so peaceful and benevolent between them, most female dominated spaces are extremely harsh and abusive, if they aren't friends, they miss men very quickly, as they don't feel privileged with other women.

They just have a natural tendency to see their own reflection in other women eyes, but only for their own direct benefit

While we men built and sustained civilizations while fighting each other. (women too, I'm only criticizing feminists and lip-service feminists) *

We need to wake up Kings

Don't let some twisted women define what masculinity should be, enough with that sick "be a lone wolf or you're not a man" or "if you don't have women you're not a man" bullshit

Let's bond too damn it

[–]Loumier 15 points16 points17 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I totally agree. I am tired of women saying what a true man should behave like. 99% what defines a true man is something that directly benefits women and that's why we shouldn't listen them. Women are not teaching you anything or trying to help you by giving some tips, this is manipulation instead.

[–]IllustraSeris 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes.

They redefined feminity with feminism, it's our turn to redefine masculinity

Enough with the knighthood stuff, let's be EQUAL now

[–]IllustraSeris 128 points129 points130 points 3 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

I know bro. But that horniness is precisely what harm us in this sick society, it just benefits women too much, it's like worshiping them for the sole fact they are born.

We need to evolve

[–]Futureman999 10 points11 points12 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think it got worse since the 1970s Divorce Revolution and reliable birth control, so people were spending fewer of their adult years married to someone. That put every horny man (which is almost all healthy men) back on the hunt.

Men hate getting rejected and/or used by women decade after decade, and women complain about "sexual harassment" which their grandmothers would have shrugged at and simply accepted as men being men and taking their shot, as long as they weren't too blatant and rude about it.

Not considered improper toward single ladies even at work, as long as it was done in a gentlemanly way and a marriage proposal was coming fairly soon as part of the deal.

[+]bottleblank -20 points-19 points-18 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

We need to evolve

Into what? Unemotional, uncaring, unfeeling, asexual robots?

[–]NoNeedleworker5799 19 points20 points21 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Stop threatening me with a good time!

[–]IllustraSeris 15 points16 points17 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

No, into true modern men.

Most men are still traditional, but it is outdated by far, they can't compete with modern women.

They evolved a way that benefited them a lot.

But men are still the same, they try to provide, to be chivalrous, to have "honor", to act like lones wolves and isolates themselves from any support, and so on.

We need to evolve a way that benefits us too.

And of course, it's not to women and feminists to decides what a modern men should be, don't listen to their deconstructed men bullshit.

[–]bottleblank 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So how do we do that, and what does it look like when we do? What does that modern man look like? What is his place in society, what is his life?

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points16 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Start supporting men and providing services we desperately need, counteract stigma (like men can’t be victims of DV rape etc) counteract double standards, we can do that by getting women to understand and recognize these stigma double standards and raise awareness that gender roles for men only results in them turning to toxic male figures like tate.

A modern man should be like anyone else able to listen and be listened too, to understand and be understood, to have help and give it where possible. We should be treated like we are human and not some carbon copy of other shitty men, where we can be taken at face value rather than having assumptions be made of us.

His place in society is like anyone else’s find what makes you happy, enjoy the fuck out of it, be accomplished in your work/life and be productive but do something that we enjoy.

All mens problems would be solved maybe we can invent a pill or injection that can cut off all biologically sexual need thoughts while still letting us have our testosterone. We would be colonizing Mars by now if we had something like that.

[–]rman1001 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This. If you can survive long enough that you age-out of your testosterone-fueled sex drive you will find happiness, or at least more happiness/contentment. Being horny all the time, i.e., having a need that can never be truly satisfied means that you will never be truly happy for more than a short time.

But yea, a pill that would allow men to decrease the sex-drive without serious side-effects would be hugely beneficial to our overall happiness and allow us to focus our energy on other pursuits, ......like what to do about all these women who are absolutely trashing our civilization with their bullsh*t.

[–]1bumpy69 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Marriage will cure you horniness. You'll get laid on a daily basis during the dating/courtship phase, get married and the frequency dwindles away. Before you know it you ain't getttin' none. It's like quitting drinking or smoking. After sticking with the situation for years and not getting laid, you don't really need it anymore. Ass kissing and begging gets really old, really fast! Then they divorce you because of lack of affection. You realize you don't need pussy and definately don't need them. Once women realize you don't have any interest in them, they become interested. They want the best of both worlds. Their expectations are to be treated as an equal in every way except they want to be treated like women. Flowers, Dinner, Vacations, Ass Kissin'. Once you're in a relationship, they still expect you to spend hundreds of dollars a week to keep them happy while sitting on their cash.

I don't have the patience for any of it. Count me out

[+]zyzzspirit 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I think replacing hormones with low dose test + high nandrolone can reduce sex drive. Im gonna try it next winter. SSRIs also reduce sex drive but they numb emotions.

impossible, simping is hardwired into the male brain for like 70% of dudes

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You don't need to simp. Unless you are incredibly unlucky, it's pretty easy to find yourself in the top 20%. Hit the gym, lose weight get a decent haircut. That will put the vast majority in the top 20% of men with attractiveness is the metric you are looking at.

I've noticed lately that more attractive men are getting into relationships with less attractive women and it blows my mind. Women are up to some shit man. There was data circulating Reddit recently that some like 30% of female Gen Z are single, but >60% of male Gen Z is single. Females are either joining harems are getting older sugar daddies or some shit, either way young boys today are fucked.

[–]capitan_cruiser 116 points117 points118 points 3 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

Half the girls I know date dudes AT LEAST 5-7 years older than them. We are 19-20

[–]Rampaging_Bunny 48 points49 points50 points 3 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

How do they even meet them? I mean there’s no way late 20s people are mingling with 19-20 college kids

[–]capitan_cruiser 34 points35 points36 points 3 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

That's where I introduce to you.... Instagram! where if you start replying to random stories you might strike up a conversation and go on from there.. It's not too rare to see full on adults trying to mingle with 18-20 year old girls, personally I don't get it because even when I was 14, 20 year olds would try to hit up on girls my age and personally for me I could never feel any attraction to girls that are more than 2 years younger than me. it's not even the fact that it's legally wrong, it just feels disgusting to even think about and even if I could swallow that disgust, the lack of shared ideas would also kill it for me because try putting a 18 year old dude with a 29 year old dude - you got two guys with completely different plans, worries, ideas of life, lack of shared experiences, it just don't work in my opinion, but I'm not hating..

[–]DemolitionMatter 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

People on 10 year gap can have a match. Not all 18 year olds are in college and some 29 year olds are in college but they could have similar interests hobbies or music tastes. There are times where we have a lot in common with someone older so let’s not generalize.

But aren’t you 20? In east Europe people aren’t as uptight about age differences are America. In America even 25 and 20 gets backlash

[–]capitan_cruiser 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Generally people aren’t uptight about age gaps, thats why I said I’m not hating it’s just not my preference personally

[–]DemolitionMatter 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because you’re just 20. So several years younger is someone who’s a very early adolescent

[–]Classic-Hunter-2490 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Is 22 year old dating 18 year old still bad if both are in college and she is closer to turning 19?

[–]disayle32 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[–]capitan_cruiser 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Throw 100 arrows at least one will hit the bullseye and that’s all you need anyway so you’re not particularly correct

[–]DemolitionMatter -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

not all 19/20 year olds are in college, and some 28 year olds do go to college (but they prolly commute).

in fact, many 18-21 year olds commute if they attend.

[–]Pubesauce 101 points102 points103 points 3 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

Females are either joining harems

This is exactly what's happening and women are somehow okay with this explicitly patriarchal setup. They would rather vie, or even aggressively compete for, a top 5% male than date an average looking man. So that top echelon of men are able to essentially maintain harems of women who are more or less aware that they are sharing a man.

Hookup culture brought us back to our basest of instincts where the dominant male has mating rights over most women. Women get a taste of what it is like to be with an aggressive, attractive, confident male and the thought of settling for anything less disgusts them. Unfortunately for them, there aren't enough of these males to go around. So they just turn a blind eye to the guy sleeping with other women because sharing a great man is still better than having a lesser man all to themselves.

They want a man that will impress their friends. Even if they have to be a side piece to get it.

[–]calmly86 110 points111 points112 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

… and women will claim, with a straight face, that it’s men who benefit from hookup culture.

No.

Certain men benefit.

[–]9pmt1ll1come 41 points42 points43 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Worse is, since they’re obviously dating gigachad (that’s what the top 5% of men are) they will turn around and say ALL MEN ARE GARBAGE when gigachad dumps them after having his fun. They fucking chose to go with that kind of men knowing full well who they were and when they couldn’t change chad, they say all men are bad. The level of delusion of these women man.

[–]Pubesauce 39 points40 points41 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Exactly. The top 5% of men benefit more than anyone as they can maintain their harems and multiple relationships without public scorn now. Followed by almost all women who can hook up with these men at will usually. Meanwhile all other men are dealing with convincing an average woman to settle for an average guy while she is used to hooking up with much more attractive men. Those men would never actually commit to her, of course, but she doesn't realize that.

[–]Lonewolf_087 13 points14 points15 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The funny thing i'm seeing as well is the more attractive dudes I know want long term relationships and they aren't being seen that way in certain cases. In a weird way they are sort of feeling like they aren't seen for who they are but just an object. It's a very different kind of problem but one that creates a lot of tension when they want to just settle down.

[–]lurker100101 22 points23 points24 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

The problem is that civilization wasn't built with that type of social structure, which means if that social structure takes hold of society, we would face a collapse.

[–]Pubesauce 40 points41 points42 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Yep. Societies are built on the foundation of working men having and supporting families. Hordes of young men growing up with little hope for a fulfilling relationship or family as an adult is not going to end well. I'd guess that it is a major reason why we are seeing so many men join the NEET/incel subculture and completely opt out of society as an adult.

[–]D45_B053 10 points11 points12 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You're also forgetting another Factor. Men are completely and totally ignored when it comes to higher education, as well as place at the absolute bottom of the priority ladder when it comes to hiring for most jobs. Combine those two facts with you realization that the only motivation for most men to seek a better paying job is to support a wife and family, and you have the root cause of why so many men are simply working jobs that will allow them to get by, not get ahead.

[–]Pubesauce 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If working at all. In my 20s I was kind of in and out of NEETdom and there were a LOT of other young men who were doing the same. I'd imagine those numbers have only increased in the last decade since.

[–]Lonewolf_087 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I would say that it's healthy for a guy who has struggled in the dating environment to turn attention elsewhere rather than looking to find love just be the best single version of yourself. I'm never going to shame people who do this it's not a terrible thing. I kind of see how complex things are these days and I'm not opposed to it. A part of me thought I was broken but I see that it's just very complicated in general and it's not all me, though I'll admit, I can improve. Thank god relationships aren't required or I'd be in trouble lol.

[–]rippierippo 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Society doesn't depend on men as it used to in the past. Most work is automated or will be automated. Society will not even need most men in couple of decades except for wars and doing some dirty work. That is the reality. Even nature is behind due to the way culture is changing and progressing for the past few decades.

[–]mrmensplights 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yup - sample the zeitgeist and you’ll see young women embracing polyamory, even when they are in serious relationships.

I don’t think it’s just hookup culture either. The entire system, from elementary school right through to university has been designed to fast track women. Easier grading, environments designed for them, tons of scholarships and beneficiaries of acceptance quotas etc. Prior to having kids, young women out-earn young men. And Women also happen to be hugely hypergamous; they only marry up (and really only see up) the socio economic ladder. Many women are almost blind to men they consider beneath them. Goodbye middle class. The state and our institutions have been tuned to provide what men used to provide.

So many of these women grow bitter and resentful based on experiences endlessly chasing a small minority of dudes. When they say “all men” they mean “all men we see” - and they are only looking up. They find all other men beneath contempt.

[–]djc_tech 21 points22 points23 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That’s why passport bros is a thing. I have two friends that married women from S. America. Both of their girls are dimes. But one is getting divorced but that’s his fault he turned ti a lazy alcoholic who got fat while his hardworking wife was at the gym trying to get him into shape.

My friends aren’t bad looking guys they just got tired of dealing with the women in my area

[–]NohoTwoPointOh 22 points23 points24 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I cannot stress this enough. The myth of the Asian waifu is just that. However, you’re looking at traditional societies where family reigns supreme (compared to the modern American woman that calls families oppressive).

When American white women do their entitled Pre-Karen-energy crazy and call families “oppressive”, a simple trip to Central America reminds me what the opposite can be. If a girl steps away from the family (like her American track star counterparts), she is shunned like a leper. If a man doesn’t provide? The same. Both appreciate each other. But, outside of the girls who eschew tradition and choose men based off tingles, the majority are family-proud and house proud.

You don’t have to put up with any of their nonsense. If they wanna be clowns? Fine. Leave them to the circus.

When American black women try to push that “we’re obese because of some “ain’t my fault because genetics” or some other “black girl magic” bullshit? I go to West African best kept secrets (coughAccracough) and see hordes of gorgeous, fit and feminine African women. Very few (if any) Bruce Smiths, William Perry’s, or Aaron Donalds.

[–]Unknown_Ladder[🍰] 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The problem is if alot of men from the western world start doing that, then there will be less women for men in those countries to date. I don't want to make it harder for those men, then they will start having the same problems too.

Thing is, if 100% of men all took on a gym routine, got deeply into grooming, and focused on being healthy and attractive for a year or so to the point that the bar was raised a good amount across the board...

...the 80/20 rule would still apply and women would only be interested in the top 20%.

The problem isn't that the 80% are unattractive, it's that women think they deserve that top 20% no matter where they stand themselves.

I don't have statistics or numbers to back anything up, but I'd argue that on the whole Americans are less attractive than they were 60 years ago, before obesity numbers started really climbing dramatically (although smoking was more popular).

[–]Dalailama911 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Feminism is literally on the rise cause most men are still not that fed up of women, just look at what happened with Afghanistan. Literally took less than a week to tear down 20 years worth of feminist efforts. The irony is feminists want men to fight for their modern feminist ideologies

[+]Decent_Ear589 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Afghanistan is a unique situation in that it was a series of tribes led by an overarching terrorist group that the US stunted with its presence there for 20 years. The second we left, the tribes had no interest in fighting the overarching terror group for control as there was no national identity collectively and people didn't care enough, thus they fell back under Taliban control like before.

It's not some kind of blueprint in any way viable anywhere else, especially in the First World.

[–]Dalailama911 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It definitely doesn't jive with the WaPo data that the number of year-long celibate men tripled in the past decade, while for women it only went up a point or two. And really, based on all the social issues we're seeing, the average number of sexual partners per gender, typical dating/breakup activity for each gender, etc., I know which dataset passes the smell test.

In a culture where even the homeliest guy is encouraged to be ashamed of dating any woman under a "5", I'd not be surprised if there's more lonely women than anyone here prefers to think, just they're no longer on dating apps because those clearly suck and therefore don't show up in the stats.

[–]griii2 -2 points-1 points0 points 3 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

why the downvotes?

[–]ApprehensiveMail8 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Excellent question.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I downvoted because "And I don't think embracing Black-pilled Incel groups will help the MRM go mainstream and men's issues be taken seriously." is clear concern trolling. Which is becoming excessive and obnoxious on this sub.

What is concern trolling? It is telling men on this sub to tone down their perspective, or shut up about men's problems, for the sake of it being good PR "for the movement". Anything along those lines.

Why is it a problem? Because the whole point of the movement is to give men a voice. Even, no, ESPECIALLY if it's something most people don't want to hear and would be shut down elsewhere.

And also- the movement is doing just fine, thanks. Appeasement of critics at the expense of the target audience and core message is actually terrible PR and not something that will help the cause.

Look, I don't know *why* people do this. It could be they are truly trolling/ brigading feminists. Or it could just be a thought process that occurs to a lot of people and they don't realize it's dumb. Maybe it seems like a convincing argument in your mind to trot out when you can't debate other men on the actual merit of your position.

But concern trolling gets downvoted. And rightly so.

Try not to do it.

There's a very powerful presence amongst Black-pilled Incels and the alt-right in MRA groups, and I feel like this sort of information gets in the way of VENT THREADS like this.

Also, after subs like The Donald, MGTOW etc were banned, the remnants from those came here and to the Jordan Peterson sub, so you get more of that presence sometimes. Still, I think it's worth engaging and offering new perspectives.

[+]Decent_Ear589 -14 points-13 points-12 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Or it's because you're claiming that women have nearly the same struggles as men in the dating market

I never said that, the struggles are totally different. Women risk engaging with someone bigger and stronger than them at every sexual encounter, so although most times it doesn't lead to violent rape or assault, any man could CHOOSE to do so at the drop of a time when you at your most vulnerable.

Women also deal with getting pregnant from sex, which men don't.

Women also deal with rarely orgasming from casual sex, and less than men in relationships. Hence more women prefer relationships to casual sex.

Men have all the power during sex unless they voluntarily choose to superficially give it up for a few mins, and they almost always orgasm. They see the number of options the average woman has on apps due to their lopsided gender ratios and think that if they had that, they'd be sleeping with tons of hot girls so assume women want to do likewis with guys. There's no consideration for the female perspective.

Men's issues revolve around limited choices, being the 'pursuers' and generally having to impress in some way, which women don't often have to do beyond appearances. They have to hustle more. But the reward for their hustle (control, orgasm) is greater than women usually get for their passiveness.

I find it very funny that we were supposed to be fighting the stigma that sex is when a man gives and the woman receives. Its supposed to be a two way street but yet people like you always reinforce it. I don't deny that men have an easier time orgasming but that doesn't automatically mean they enjoy it and secondly when a woman doesn't orgasm why is it that people never ask if she just couldn't communicate properly or at all for that matter or even assertive in what she wants or even some other reason. I also don't deny that some men might be ignorant or selfish when it comes to casual sex but I also don't deny women being lazy and entitled. I guarantee there's a bunch of them that think just because the man has an easier orgasm that she mustn't put in any effort. But no just like every other situation the first thing people like you do is blame men. Also here's a thought maybe more women get in relationships because half of them know they can use the man for finances and attention.

First, it's worth noting that the percent of young men and women not having sex is the same, as I linked to above.

The chart does show an increase in the amount of sex some men are having, but not by much. From 12 to 15 for the top 20% most sexually active men, and from 38 to 50 for the top 5% of most sexually active men. The median numbers, as it says, stayed the same. This illustrates that to a minor extent, the globalization of the dating market has given attractive, promiscuous men more options. But it's a far cry from "most men aren't having sex" or that they aren't but most women are.

[–]djc_tech 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I’d say so. I think it also depends on socioeconomic stays too. If you’re more well off as a guy or woman you’re getting laid more. Where I work lots of people with money and lots are fucking. You wouldn’t believe the amount of “ENM” relationships I’ve heard about. It’s all bullshit, it’s something people say because they just want to fuck and not have a relationship.

The stories I could tell

Depends on what you get from thi stat.

Women are a lot more picky on dating apps, thats for sure.

Would be silly otherwise though since there are way more men there.

Women are also way, way more likely to date men they dont find really attractive or men that are not conventionally attractive.

This last part is kinda important but for some reason it is not taken into account much...

[–]Andrew_Squared 28 points29 points30 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

>...more likely to date men they dont find really attractive or men that are not conventionally attractive.

The linked article tells it differently. Women are MORE selective based on attractiveness in these apps. In person may be different, but that is a significantly smaller avenue of exploration in today's world.

Christ, I'm glad I don't need to do this shit.

[–]bottleblank 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It makes sense that online dating would skew what's being looked for, because if all you have to go on is a picture and some meaningless drivel in a generic profile... well, what else is there to find attractive but a person's body or fashion?

You can't get a taste of their voice/accent, their mannerisms, their charisma, their general "aura", you're not going to have much insight into their conversation style, favourite subjects, their passion, their enthusiasm, etc.

Furthermore, people end up filtering by hard stats too, like height. Even though that same person, if you met them at work or in a club, you might not even notice how tall they are(n't), you'd more likely just notice that you like them.

[–]APA770 12 points13 points14 points 3 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

Women are also way, way more likely to date men they dont find really attractive or men that are not conventionally attractive.

Only when they reach their 30's (or late 20's) and realize that they can't get one of the tall, handsome and successful men to settle down with her. She then chooses a man that she's not really attracted to (even though he is on her level or even a bit above it) because he has a decent income and because she wants children. But she is not physically attracted to him and will probably cheat on him before she eventually dumps/divorces him. What a great deal for those men...

[+]FoolioTheGreat -11 points-10 points-9 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's true in regards to dating apps. If you are leaving that part out of the conversation, then ofcourse you look like a complete sexist idiot.

The 80/20, can literally be explained by the fact that most online dating apps are 70-80 percent male. So ofcourse the numbers are going to skew that way. This also doesn't mean, women are only going after total chads. A women swiping off a man, doesn't mean it was because of their looks. While that may be the case, there is no evidence to make this claim.

And if you look in the real world. The majority of men are getting laid. Fat men, ugly men, poor men, are all in relationships in the real world. Most men are in relationships. If you are salty because you are not, then maybe its time to look inward.

[–]pargofan -2 points-1 points0 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So, (M36)i’ve above average looks, or in other words; i’m a good looking man( according to my friends). I was married to a very attractive woman( can prove it with photos, two babies came out of that 8years relationship). We were separated almost two years ago— she left due to me working tool damn much, bullshit!!! In this market, she was still hit on by a lot of fucking simps. That’s the real reason. i don’t care. we are cool.

I’m saying all of the above for this reason, when i decided it was time to date(8months after), holy fucking hell!!! Online dating is brutal! even Dating through cold approach now days for men is brutal! I can’t even get a real decent date! and if i met girls through friends i’m disgusted by their delusional expectations and their shitty behavior!

Last week i discovered a Youtube Channel by a philippine girl sending an invitation to the men in America to come to the Phillipines. I binge a shit tons of videos about men going abroad to find partners. So i’m actually considering it, and i’ll invite all of you to do so.

I hate dating apps for this very reason. It's artificial and extremely superficial. Most people don't photograph well. If you base decisions on a picture and a quick bio, that's really shallow.

I don't like dating app culture. Best way to not be part of the 80%? Get off the app, and go to meeting places surrounding hobbies and things you enjoy.

Yea having a child certainly complicates things. I feel like only a mother would be able to empathize with a lot of who I am, so that narrows the dating pool AND since they have children it complicates it even further.

[–]PacoBedejo 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Like I told my cousin after drug-jail and halfway house:

  • Step 1: Be happy by and with yourself
  • Step 2: Find someone who makes you even happier
  • Step 3: Make sure you didn't lie to yourself in Step 1
  • Step 4: Make sure you didn't lie to yourself in Step 2
  • Step 5: Be happier

Don't skip any steps. When you actually accomplish Step 1, the subject of Step 2 almost certainly finds you. If you feel like you have to hunt, you probably haven't finished Step 1.

[–]Brandwein 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Over a decade at step 1 now.

[–]PacoBedejo 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Then you're probably happier than most people, particularly those who rushed into bad relationships. I'm 45yo with 23yrs unequally yoked so far. I bet I'd be happier if I'd achieved Step 1.

[–]Brandwein 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yup pretty happy with myself and life at 30, only some grief for loss of family members which led me into wanting companionship. Pretty much the only thing missing is someone to share life with, but i see it as an extra not as an essential thing. Being a wizard is weird tho.

I agrée. Apps suck. Most people I know met their partner in school. But some people like me due to bad luck were unable to find their person there and are now single and unable to find someone. Since how are you supposed to meet people if you are not hot enough for apps and not into nightlife

[–]bottleblank 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Get off the app, and go to meeting places surrounding hobbies and things you enjoy.

That's a lot easier said than done. Especially for people who struggle socially.

[–]designerutah 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Also problematic when so many women say they don't want to be hit on at those places. Young men can't win socially.

[–]2muchtequila 11 points12 points13 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm somewhat curious as to how many couples today meet via apps vs organically. I know a few couples who met on apps, but the vast majority met through friends of friends, a night out, or at work.

Dating apps are inherently superficial because all most people look at is the photo. So you get guys swiping on every single woman, and women only swiping on the most attractive guys. However, the other issue is men and women often have different goals. While women may enjoy sex, for many the goal is a stable relationship. Whereas with men, a lot of the time the goals are more short term and while a relationship might be nice, the goal is sex.

So even though the women may be matching with more attractive men, that doesn't mean the online dating experience is significantly better if those matches still don't achieve their goals.

Feeling used and taken advantage of sucks no matter what's between your legs.

[–]Reaper621 10 points11 points12 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I met my ex wife on a dating app for catholics. I met my current wife in high school and took her to prom, then married the wrong woman, then divorced her, and started dating my prom date again. Pretty fun how that works sometimes. Oh, hey, look, the organic relationship lasted.

ETA: I was on the app looking for a stable relationship. I found a nightmare, cloaking itself as a long term fixture. I think I found a serial killer, I know for a fact her mom killed her dad when she was 1. I think the plan was to get the seed, and kill me off. I just know I would never recommend online dating.

Even if it were true, how is it a Men's Rights issue? And what do you think is the solution?

For the record, the percent of young men and young women not having sex is the same https://i.imgur.com/HGlnCTJ.png. So this isn't translating to women going for a select few universally viewed 'top men' as Black-pilled Incel groups and violent alt-right spaces claim.

[–]bottleblank 30 points31 points32 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Even if it were true, how is it a Men's Rights issue?

Because it has an impact on men's psychological states, their mental health, to be unable to express their drives for intimacy and sex and then puts the blame on them for not "being better", calling them "entitled", telling them "life's not fair, get over it", and various other harmful insults and platitudes.

So, when they go running to the likes of Tate, who people scream about turning our teenage boys into radical misogynistic terrorists, everybody's all pikachu at the fact that boys and men aren't happy with being fobbed off, told that sex is a luxury, that they have no right to feel bad about lacking connection and intimacy, and they try to seek help from someone who's not feeding them a bunch of meaningless crap, diversions, dismissals, and invalidation.

[–]Decent_Ear589 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because it has an impact on men's psychological states, their mental health, to be unable to express their drives for intimacy and sex

OK but so what's the solutions? Men feeling sad about it is one thing, but how are Men's Rights groups supposed to help?

Also, the Tate thing is drastically overstated. A record number of Gen Z men identify as LGBT and they vote left by 2-to-1 margins. Those don't sound like Tate bros to me, since supporting people like that would undoubtedly drive you to the Republican right, and we don't see that at all amongst young men.

who's not feeding them a bunch of meaningless crap, diversions, dismissals, and invalidation.

To be fair, Tate and his ilk are also feeding them meaningless crap, it's just crap that they want to hear. Like... He may not be reinforcing their negative self esteem, but he sure as hell isn't turning them in to something healthy either.

[–]bottleblank 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

he sure as hell isn't turning them in to something healthy either.

Right, but:

He may not be reinforcing their negative self esteem

That's hugely important. Being told "you can do it, you just have to do X, Y, Z, don't let them take advantage, you're worth more, go get 'em" is a lot more motivating, encouraging, and reassuring than "sex isn't important, you creepy loser, stop harassing women and maybe we'll let you keep existing, as long as you shut up and stay in your box".

BTW: Women also cannot create romance. They usually love it and can receive it, but it can only be created my men and only men (not just males, but males who are men).

Dating apps in your 20s are the playground of the Chads and women in general. In your 30s, things get better, but the crowd you're looking at are more desperate and are often settling for you because Chad is still busy sport fucking the 20-somethings.

The single most important thing I can say to young men today about dating and marriage is that you absolutely MUST MUST MUST be involved with a woman for several years before marrying her. I would consider 4 years a minimum. During that time, and depending on what your standards are, you need to be vetting her about her background.

  • Do you want the girl who got run through at the house party every Saturday?
  • Do you want the girl who went back stage with the rock band (or goes every time the band is in town) and blew them all?
  • Are all her friends guys? Get to know them too. How many of them have been friends with benefits, or maybe were up until you, or maybe still are? How many of her present, regularly contacted male friends has she actually been intimate with? How many of those guy friends WANT to be intimate with her? Why hasn't she dated any of those "friend zoned" guys?
  • Find out about her past boyfriends. Was she ever engaged? Did she dump that guy or did he dump her? Why? Is she still carrying a torch for one of her exes?
  • Find out who her female friends are. Are they single and still going to the house parties and getting run through?
  • Are her single friends faithful to their boyfriends/husbands if they're in rleationships?
  • How many of her friends are married and are they pushing her to get married? Is she feeling the pressure and expectations of her married friends to get wifed up ASAP?
  • Do her friends want to have girls' weekend getaways during Spring Break in Florida?
  • Does one of her female friends have dirt to spill on her friend because she wants you?
  • Find out her body count (if that matters to you) and whatever number she tells you, triple it. She will have all sorts of justifications for lying to you about this number - she may not count things like one night stands, or guys she just gave BJs to, or guys she only gave anal to, she will DEFINITELY not tell you about the rock band (and bouncers) she blew, etc. Triple the number she tells you and make your decision about it from an informed perspective. I would have said that you should just double the number she gives you for body count 20 years ago, but hey, times they are a'changin'.
  • Is there porn of her out on the internet? Has she ever been an OF "model" or the like?
  • Get to know her parents - is mom a shrew? Did mom baby trap dad? Who runs her parents' household? Is dad there but not really "there"?
  • Is your girl the product of a single mother? If so, talk to and get to know her mom AND dad both.
  • Did dad dump mom because mom was a cheating slut or because she requested an open relationship?
  • Is dad an asshole and did your girl date (fuck) 50 assholes like her dad before she settled on you?
  • Get to know her siblings. What kind of people are they? Is her sister the town bicycle? Is her brother a drug dealer with two separate baby-mommas?
  • Does she have a history of requiring mental health care? Suicide attempts? Rehab? Was she seriously abused earlier in her life by a family member? Past boyfriend/husband?
  • How does she handle money? Is her personal spending beyond her means? Does she rely on family to bail her out of debt? Does she have a ton of credit card debt? Massive student loan debts? Are there any bankruptcies in her past? Is she collecting alimony and/or child support and could she make it financially without those funds? Does she owe any money to legal settlements/alimony/child support/bankruptcies, etc.?

Yes - you need to be vetting her long enough to get to know her well enough to find these answers out before you marry her. I have known these things about every woman I've dated for more than a couple months. It doesn't really take that long to find them out.

Honestly, you're far better off using your 20s to chase wealth and excellence. Hell, if you have a decent job, you can hire an escort every month or two for a few hundred bucks and it will still be cheaper than dating in both actual money and your time, and you are far less likely to be baby trapped. Think about it - a dinner out is a MINIMUM of $60 and that's for burgers/bar food with a beer each. If you actually order appetizers, dinners, with a bottle of wine, and dessert, you're looking at $100 easy. Imagine doing that every week for "date night". You can spend a pretty good hour with an enthusiastic and reasonably attractive escort for $200. Also remember, you don't pay an escort to show up, you pay her to leave.

Which would carry water, if it was 1923, not 2023 where we have all manner of contraceptive options. Plus, if it's necessary, a woman can choose whether to carry the baby to completion or not. Or to give it up for adoption if she doesn't want to kill it, but doesn't want to/can't take care of it.

Besides which, let's not pretend they're going around selecting for "the best genes" or that "nice is a baseline" is anything like accurate. Yes, there's something to be said for the idea that certain traits which can be visible might be desired, but there's a lot of crappy men out there getting laid perfectly fine.

[–]darthjory 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I agree with this as well. This is a very nuanced issue and I can see both sides

[–]AspirationsOfFreedom 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Biology still has a MASSIVE stranglehold on our behavior. One of the simplest examples are why we are inherently afraid of spiders. Because venomous ones causes pain and/or death. We evolved as a species to avoid them.

Or emotional side as well, largely stems from nature.

Telling women they cannot view men on dating apps as less appealing because we as a species sort out the less desireable men based on women chosing a partner from xyz criteria is nonsense.

A few RATIONAL explanations: in person you might go with whats easiest. Or other societal factors. Sure mister thundercock might be lurking in the bushes on your way home, but the guy at the bar seems nice and is available. Online, you have the constant "next in line" factor, meaning non but also all are available.

Another explanation could be that more goodlooking people dont need dating apps to get laid, therefor fewer are there. More lonely men seek it out, scewing the average.

I can complain for hours about the behavior of women on dating apps, but this fact isnt what we should hound them for. They are within their rights to say Nah to people.

[–]bottleblank 18 points19 points20 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Telling women they cannot view men on dating apps as less appealing because we as a species sort out the less desireable men based on women chosing a partner from xyz criteria is nonsense.

So is telling men that perfectly normal, natural behaviours linked to our sex drive and biological/psychological need for human connection and intimacy that they're "creepy". But here we are.

Yes, I understand that we can't just "turn off" our instincts, but no matter how many times I say that, I'm still told by women who participate in these "debates" that I'm wrong, I'm sick, I'm perverted, I'm creepy, I deserve to be alone, and so on. Do they represent all women? No. But as long as that's my experience, why should I treat their preferences and selection criteria any differently than they treat mine?

If I'm told I should just not be interested in women because my sexual desires are "wrong" according to their judgement, why shouldn't I be able to judge their selection processes as being overly selective, or selective for the "wrong" traits?

In any case, it's not all instinct, it's social too, and women don't hesitate to tell us that when it's about their unrealistic beauty standards and how we all expect miraculous Photoshop airbrush bodies that would take a month of starvation and a bucketful of speed to achieve.

[+]AspirationsOfFreedom -9 points-8 points-7 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'll try to answer you to the best of my ability. This is not ment as an insult.

SOME women say we are creepy. Not all. Most seem to have a more rational view. 61% of american women see themselfs as feminists, and it would be extremely black and white to say one side is and one isnt anti male. I've met several who aknowledge our needs, our problems, and our experience. And some of our behavior can be extremely predatory that does not fit within the confines of the normal world, and this is often because we do not as men hold the rights of other women just because we are stronger.

Lets say i meet a woman, and her desire is exlusivly missionary, mine is heavily afflicted by bdsm. Comparing the two as both wrong, just because my desire can be seen quite negativly, isnt accurate. We might both be wrong, but me giving her the same treatment does not fix anything, and it may actually cause her to further back off.

What sorts of desires do you hold that causes such a stirr? Maybe u have just talked to really shitty women?

And i agree, both sides have their negatives, but cant you see that this is the logic of "he pinched me so i punched him"? Take a breather, and lets talk rationally.

[–]bottleblank 11 points12 points13 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is not ment as an insult.

None taken. Just spent too much time listening to online feminists.

SOME women say we are creepy. Not all.

Sure, but let me try to pin down for you why this is such an irritating issue for me.

The kinds of men who are talking about this stuff online are the kinds of men who don't have a lot of experience or success with it in the real world. Lonely, confused, anxious, depressed, autistic, you name it. They're trying to seek answers, they're trying to learn how to "be better", they're trying to figure out how to be with women without offending them in the process of getting to that point, or to avoid screwing everything up and scaring women away.

Then, the kinds of women they're likely to run into in these spaces, spaces which I reiterate they find themselves in trying to seek help, tend not to be particularly helpful. In fact, they're the opposite of helpful, quite often. Insulting, demeaning, patronising, angry, aggressive, anti-male, with horrible opinions and attitudes towards men who are genuinely trying to improve.

So...

What sorts of desires do you hold that causes such a stirr? Maybe u have just talked to really shitty women?

Nothing remarkable. Perfectly normal (and quite respectable) suggestions that, unlike some other men who discuss these things in less than pleasant language, I have always wanted and continue to want a monogamous long-term relationship with someone who cares. Which I'm told I can't possibly want, because I'm a man, so I must be trying to hide something, to pretend to be nice until I can manipulate my way to gaining access to women's groins. Then, if I try to question these kinds of attitudes, to spell out that these generalisations are harmful and perpetuating anger in young men, then I'm an incel, a misogynist, and whatever other insults they can think of. Implications of sexual impropriety, of unhealthy desires, of predatory behaviour.

Speaking of which...

And some of our behavior can be extremely predatory that does not fit within the confines of the normal world, and this is often because we do not as men hold the rights of other women just because we are stronger.

Yes, some, perpetrated by a minority of criminals, of which I am not and never have been one. Yet I get treated as though I probably am, because the current social climate allows women to make such accusations without any responsibility, and there's almost nothing men can say that won't just dig them in deeper. Most of us are not criminals.

Which is fine, I understand that people have different levels of sexual expression, but simply admitting that you find women attractive and may want to date or sleep with one (without using derogatory language, I should point out) shouldn't be cause for accusations and insults.

There are plenty of men and women out there in, or seeking, relationships. Many even who participate willingly in casual sex. This is not some alien concept or a criminal perversion, it's perfectly normal human behaviour.

[–]bottleblank 11 points12 points13 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

[–]Spifffyy 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Don’t worry about what other people are doing when it cones to women, and focus on what you are doing. I’ve found it avoids feelings of envy or jealousy

[–]bottleblank 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm (generally, unless particularly depressed) not jealous, not while I have the willpower and intellectual energy to comprehend my situation.

However, what other people are doing does matter, because in order for you to get what you need, you have to deal with other people. Many things you can steal, if you're forced to do so: food, water, shelter, power, heat.

What you cannot steal are jobs (which a lot of incels have problems with) and love (likewise). They must be given to you, granted by other people, other people who you must understand and work with in order to get where you need to be, in terms of having a life worth living in modern society.

If you don't understand how to work with those people, and nobody will help you understand (or, worse, people just tell you it's your fault, no matter why you don't understand in the first place, even if it's their fault), you fall behind in life. You get anxious about social status, long-term potential, the passage of time, being able to pay for food and bills, being able to maintain a stable living environment. You get depressed about lack of human contact, lack of intimacy, about having no value to the world, no purpose, no appreciation, no acceptance.

To fix that, you have to engage with other people. So you must know what they're doing, how they do it, and how they expect you to do it, in order to actually achieve anything in life that manifests outside of your own head, as actual quality of life improvements.

[+]Decent_Ear589 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

injections, gels, caps, coils

These aren't substitutes for reproductive access. And as for the pills, some Republicans want to come for those next.

Of course, this is just going to lead to a backlash in a few years with demographics changing rapidly to phase conservatives out of power and Republicans losing every year now basically even when fundamentals should be in their favor like last year. For instance, the abortion bans have seen a sharp rise in support for abortion until birth, with 1 in 5 Americans now for it compared to just 8% that support the state bans.

[–]bottleblank 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

None of which really answers my point(s), namely:

1) The US isn't the entire world

2) Contraception exists (and far more of it under the control of women than men, the latter having not a lot more than just condoms, and they're not foolproof/they can be sabotaged)

3) Plenty of women seem to be quite happy to explore their sexuality with men without being so terrified of not being able to abort that they want nothing to do with men

You have to watch out for justifying behaviours with evolution and biology. I agree with what you are saying, but by the same token, I can use evolution and biology to justify rape or any other behaviour whether desirable or not. After all, rape emerged through evolution as it proved to be successful in allowing men to pass on their genes

[–]AspirationsOfFreedom -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

Well, yeah. But i think you took a MASSIVE step into a dark space to show a really brutal counterexample.

One female trait that is so fucking basic its seen as young as toddlers: womens innate need to share, talk behind, and covertly bully others. The whispering, the tattletales, and that kind of bullshit usually ment to hurt a third party. I am not justifying it, it comes from often a place of biology and instinct. But i also view it as a really not ok thing to do, and wouldn't want to be involved in it.

Certian behavior isn't allways "right" with society, but also isn't as directly harmful. Others are. The whispering and rumours is deffinetly not ok. Raping also isnt ok.

[–]BillyDeanMorgan 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

I deliberately took that massive step into a dark space to prove my point: evolution is not a justification for any behaviour, it simply helps explain the patterns that emerge.

Yes men are stronger, more disagreeable, and more prone to violence than woman, BUT, that does not mean that women should be terrified of all men. This biological pattern that men are more physically dangerous than women is being used to create the narrative that feminist are using to paint men as bad and women as good, which is a gross oversimplification and broadsweeping generalization that harms men and benefits women.

So yes, I feel the need to correct anyone who is venturing down the path of justifying behaviours with biology. It's very dangerous and has proven to be so for men.

[+]AspirationsOfFreedom -6 points-5 points-4 points 3 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Bruh has no chill today.

That behavior is a magnificent explanation of why women are being choosy and picky, because that might be one of the big risks they want to avoid. In this case, im airing on the side of women for their right to be choosy, but i do agree that many women take the ball and run with it to create a victim mentality. And that is very much a female centric behavior that is quite harmfull and should in no form be encouraged.

[–]SwoleFeminist 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

"their right to be choosy" is going to have some dangerous, horrible effects on society if a bunch of men have to go through life without experiencing love. "hobbies" can only keep you distracted for so long.

[–]BillyDeanMorgan 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago* (18 children) | Copy Link

Completely comparable because he's using biology to justify behaviour. Biology and evolution are not justifications for anything, they explain, that is all.

I'm not saying rape is equivalent to women being choosy, don't get me wrong about that. I'm saying that you can't use evolution and biology as a justification for behaviours. I think that should be obvious

[+][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

They can absolutely justify choices. I’m trying to wrap my head around how you believe biology and evolution can’t justify decision making because it can be used to make violent justifications as well. That doesn’t add up to comparables.

[–]bottleblank 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

The point is that if you're going to go down the "life isn't fair"/"survival of the fittest"/"evolutionary biology" route, that justifies many dark behaviours which we don't consider acceptable.

But we don't do that, we have laws to prevent them. So, if we can punish men for those behaviours, based on their strengths as the larger, stronger, more aggressive sex, why should we not perform the same social engineering to curtail women's "evolutionary behaviours" too, if they seem to be causing some sort of problem in our modern society?

Why should it only be men's evolutionary strengths which are considered problematic (unless directly beneficial to women)? Why, if men can be controlled and trained out of innate behaviours, harnessed for the greater good, why can't women? If one's instinctual behaviour isn't immutable, why is the other's?

[–]BillyDeanMorgan 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Spot on!

[+][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I’m not using the survival of the fittest route to justify dark behaviors, quite the opposite. I’m saying using biology to justify choice isn’t equivalent to using biology to justify violence against another person to enact your choice. I don’t believe that is men’s nature in the first place.

[–]BillyDeanMorgan 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago* (6 children) | Copy Link

I'll try to help you understand my reasoning on this matter. Maybe you'll understand where I am going with this by first answering this question.

Do you agree with this statement: Evolution and biology justify women being very choosy because women who are (and were) very choosy increase their chances of producing offspring that will also pass on their genes into the future?

[+][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Yes, same as with men. The key being, a choice only. The choice not being equal to an action that enacts that choice with violence or force on another person.

Glad to some normal Men's takes amidst this thread. I should also note that the percent of young women and young men going sexless is the same https://i.imgur.com/HGlnCTJ.png so women's higher selectivity isn't translating to them seeking out a uniquely defined share of men they're ALL attracted to.

It seems like the Men's Rights movement is often divided between people with a genuine grasp of the issues who seek improvement for men and Black-pilled Incels + alt-right groups who want to make MRAs about "dating grievance" and bogus claims. I wonder who will win.

[–]AspirationsOfFreedom 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You are perfectly right. It's feminism.

A group that has a basis with an somewhat ambigious goal of equality... and some people are hurt ether by experience or lack off, and take it WAY off into some superiority issue or a really dark place regarding all women.

I am a man who has been cheated on. I've been falsely accused of rape (cleared, because i was lucky to have proof of my innocence), almost went mgtow because of my own personal issues, took 3 years celibate, got into a relationship, and 5 years later was TWISTED when she wanted to end it, over money. I am VERY aware of how shitty women can be. Don't even get me going on how my mom was. Yet i think my own perspective comes from Time, and knowing that shitty people will allways be shitty.

So the cure to incels? Time and support. Cure to mgtow? Time, support, and maybe let them realise in time that women might be shit but so are men...

The difference betwen mens rights and feminism, is sadly that the world listens to their radicals, yet silence ours.

Hey yo! That's not what this article says. While the point you're trying to make has merit, you're basically just quoting the OKC study from a long time ago.

[+]beleidigtewurst -10 points-9 points-8 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

So what?

It's not something new and there are reasons for that.

Also note that "dating apps" is an euphemism for "let's bang". If anything, 20% being attractive for random sex is surprisingly high.

Think about consequences of sex for women. NOT TODAY, with condoms and contraception, but for, like, 99.99% of human history as species.

[–]SwoleFeminist 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Let's try going 5 seconds without thinking about women for a change, how about that? And how every problem that men have doesn't exist because women have periods and get pregnant.

Amazing that you managed 6 upvotes for telling us our problems aren't real, that would never happen on any feminist subreddit.l

Let me try to talk about "women find only 20% of men attractive" without thinking about women...

Oh wait, I can't.

How is this a mens rights issue?

[–]jbr945 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Men's lives are men's rights.

To contextualize, dating isn't a "right" but maybe having a decent life is. To that effect, we see cultural forces making it increasingly difficult for men to obtain the trappings of a decent life. And when 'he' voices his concerns and despair about these forces, he's often ignored or mocked.

I stopped revolving my life around social media and apps, focused more on real life experiences and have been happy since.

Pro tip fellas : a lot of the 5’3 girls who say they need a 6foot man and set that as their preference on tinder - don’t know the difference between 5’9 and 6’0 in person.

In turn I’ve also had more time to spend on things that actually make me happy, leading to an overall better “me” experience which I think leads to more attractive energy.

I wasn’t really able to apply any of the red pill stuff I learned until I was past the “rage stage”

Women can only get pregnant once every 9 months.

I also believe women subconsciously assess a man's earning potential based on his height, looks and dress. They're looking for financial security.

That's dating app "studies " and one of them was 27 people. The other does show that women, by looks ALONE, don't find men attractive as often. It doesn't factor in how many women do find men attractive in a broad range when they know them.

I've also heard that on those same dating app "studies" women message men across a broader spectrum of looks and more men primarily message higher rated women. So, perhaps, there's more to it than you think.

[–]nxanthis -5 points-4 points-3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I do well on apps and I’ve posted my data on the Bumble sub before. At least in the top ten to twenty percent of men by my guess being swiped right on by eighteen percent of women, some of them very attractive.

I think the average woman swipes right on four out of one hundred men. That’s the average woman. One of my most attractive matches told me she swiped right on about one out of two hundred and fifty. Fucking absurd. If I had all the apps downloaded and the time to chat I could fuck a different one almost every day. It would be awesome if I was a total asshole but I’m in my late thirties and sex with someone who I’m not romantically interested in generally sucks.

These apps don’t release data and if they do it’s very controlled. The glaring issue is the amount of men compared to women on them. It’s got to be three to one at best.

Furthermore, we know the percent of men and women not having sex is the same https://i.imgur.com/HGlnCTJ.png and over 60% of 25-54 year old adults are either married or in relationships https://old.reddit.com/r/PurplePillDebate/comments/y3vssv/there_is_no_evidence_to_support_that_80_of_women/.

Grow up

[–]TVLord5 -3 points-2 points-1 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Come on guys. This is a rambling garbage article. Besides: key words here are "on dating apps." And there's so.much that goes into that. First of all they actually look at profiles more, let's be real most guys just go "is she ugly? No? Swipe right. It's pretty common knowledge that women are more attracted to personality traits than appearance overall, so if they ARE just looking for a hookup they need to find the guy really physically attractive. If they're looking for a relationship then they're going to use a lot more clues to be more selective up front if it seems like someone isn't their type. They might pass over some guys they'd give a chance to in real life just because they blend into the noise with so many similar men. And let's not kid ourselves, a lot of dudes are just fucking desperate and that leads to them either not being good at that style of dating, or being one of the crazy dudes who blow up at rejection (or ask for feet pics). All of that means women are going to be even MORE selective b/c there's higher risk involved of having a bad experience. I think the issue is just that dating apps have kind of become the ONLY way to meet people now and that's just not the best format for everyone.

[–]Dronterz -3 points-2 points-1 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What does this have to do with men's rights?

[–]Ivyiel_focken_doz -12 points-11 points-10 points 3 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

I probably don’t count in here, as I’m only on sugar sites, but when I was on other apps and sites the reason I didn’t find men on there attractive was their tasteless bios and lack of pictures. Now all I see is faceless old guys reaching out to me, but even back then it would be less than 2 pictures on every single profile. Most of the time in shit quality too, with a filter or sunglasses on. Stuff’s off putting. The day I come across a dating profile that includes anything except for something along the lines of: “This is my height. If you expect me to treat you like a princess just like your dad did, then I’m not the guy for you.😈🥵I love sports." That will be the day I stop sugaring.

[–]pearl_harbour1941 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

For your information it's basically the same for men looking at women's profiles.

Most have filters. Lots have sunglasses, or she's super far away so you can't actually see any features.

"I like shopping. I have a great relationship with my nan. No games. Real men only. Must love my son Jebwontah. Must be over 6ft."

And yeah, she looks like a horse.

[–]Ivyiel_focken_doz -2 points-1 points0 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I’ve only seen my own and my friends’ profiles when it comes to women, and some screenshots online tbh. The pictures is understandably very annoying when they barely show what they look like. If they have pictures and a guy just find them ugly… then that’s okay, people have preferences, no need to state that some "looks like a horse", very dehumanising. Same goes for if she includes that she has a child/children, good info to have, and nobody wants to date someone who hates their child. The rest is however valid annoyances in my opinion

[+][deleted] -42 points-41 points-40 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

What is your point? Women hate men and don’t find them attractive? That’s false.

The world and the dynamics that exist between men and women don’t just revolve around tinder and bumble. This notion that women aren’t attracted to men or desire them is tiresome and used incessantly by men who are alone to absolve them from looking inward

[–]ruck_my_life 23 points24 points25 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

1 post karma, -4 comment karma.

No need to be an apologist. The fact is that this provides real, verifiable data for statisticians and social scientists to use. Explaining why the numbers look the way they do is a different story, and they can be twisted to match a narrative I'll grant you, but numbers are numbers.

Tinder and OLD is a distillation of the game theory dynamics which have driven matchmaking for decades.

[+][deleted] -8 points-7 points-6 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Okay but “numbers are numbers” means what? What does this information really mean? What useful dynamic does this provide to society and to all men who think that women aren’t attracted to men?

[–]ruck_my_life 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Means it's hard to argue with data.

If you look at a cis het man's swipe behavior and a cis het woman's swipe behavior, the woman views ~150 profiles a day and swipes right on about 5% of them. Men, by contrast, view about 120 profiles and swipe right on about 50% of them. (Source - https://thebolditalic.com/the-two-worlds-of-tinder-f1c34e800db4 links to Swipestats.io source data in the article.)

This suggests to me that women are perhaps looking harder, but are far more selective. Men on the other hand are far, far more likely - 10x as likely - to see a profile as a potential march. (Perhaps because of burnout or OLD "fatigue?" It'd be interesting to test.)

Or, if you want to be crass.... "Any port in a storm."

I don't want to take anything away from a very important part of your comment though - men need to look inward. To get help, to work on themselves, to hit the gym, to examine biases and behaviors... Problem with that as it pertains to OLD is that this sort of self care doesn't often come through in an OLD profile. And if you only have a 1 in 20 shot at matching, let alone meeting a person, well...it can be discouraging. Which is why men need to take care of themselves because they need to learn to love themselves, not necessarily just because they think that's what'll land them a partner.

I dont think it matters, women still lots of the time (and more and more) ask out men, and their could be research issues. Men also may be more likely to say they will ask out women due to societies pressure and discriminate treatment. Do most men find 80/100 women attractive?

This response has always been hilarious to me. Yes women can sleep with guys easily. However that's not really what most women are looking for .

Its like being offered a peanut butter sandwich when you are allergic to peanut butter. Yes peanut butter is everywhere and is pretty cheap, but it does not nothing for you if your allergic. many women are looking more for long term relationships. Not just sleeping with a guy.

Any guy/girl can go outside and sleep with the 1st random person they see outside. its just most people have standards. Some more than others.
