What is your point? Of course we can discern if a woman looks too old or too fat for us? I am not subscribing to the whole wall thing, or a specific age at which women become unattractive for me, or a specific BMI or ratio that makes women become too fat for me. BUT, any individual woman can be rated for those criteria and deemed unattractive for me, regardless of not knowing her age, weight or BMI.

That model you posted would be too fat for me. Concerning age, i am 39 but nobody has put me above 28 in the last years. I am sometimes estimated to be 25 by women who are 25. Does that mean women and men cannot discern the difference between 25 and 39 year olds and therefore they look the same? No, of course not. I just look way younger than typical 39yo men.

The Wall concept is overblown. There are tons of hot women in their 30s and 40s.

But you can't deny that aging makes it hard to maintain beauty. For men and women. Most decline in physical attractiveness because it's very difficult to do otherwise. People "glowing up" are the exception to the rule.

To suggest that men don't notice this is to suggest that men have no physical attractiveness standards at all. If we couldn't tell the difference, why would women lament that they feel pressure to look a certain way?

The reason I think The Wall is overblown is because most women do decrease in physical attractiveness (according to conventional standards) as they age but a lot of them are still plenty hot enough for men. It's not that men don't notice, it's that they don't care.

Also, 25 is post-wall? I have no idea if there is any "official" RP number here but that seems darn low. I always assumed it basically corresponded with decrease in fertility.

If I can visibly see excess fat on a person, do I need data to confirm what my own eyes already did? It's the visible aesthetics that matter even more than just BMI and numbers. A curvy (as in thick hips and breasts, not BBW) woman might technically be overweight, but nobody will care if the proportions are right and she has a thin waist. Looks drastically different from a smaller woman with jelly rolls.

If you cloned someone, it’s very hard to tell the difference between them being 29.9 or 30.1. It might be hard to tell the difference between 28 and 30, maybe even 25 and 30. This because the “wall” isn’t some discrete point where you turn a certain age and instantly become unattractive. It’s a general range symbolizing the general negative correlation between women’s age and physical attractiveness.

Similarly, there is no discrete wall for body fat %. It’s just a general negative correlation between increasingly unhealthy BF% and attractiveness (note that one can have an unhealthily low BF% as well, and I think BF% fits better than BMI because a woman with a little bit of muscle might look thinner/better but actually weigh more; the goal is eating healthy and maintaining a healthy BF%, not eat nothing).

The fact that any particular man may not be able to accurately distinguish tiny differences in age or BMI has nothing to do with the “wall”, or the general negative correlation between age, BMI, and attractiveness.

And the weight has to be unfavorably distributed on her body before it starts making her unattractive. A good rule of thumb is this: if your abdomen protrudes further than your bustline, you're too heavy. If your waist is bigger than your bust, it's starting to make you unattractive.

The Wall is an entirely subjective concept, though, based on an individual person and the opinion of an individual evaluating their attractiveness level. Same thing for overweight in the sense it’s relevant here. I am confident an individual man can look at an individual woman and determine whether she is, subjectively, attractive to him relative to her youthfulness and weight.

I agree also with models many attractive ones are actually under weight which is also unhealthy.

With that being said generally you can tell if a person is overweight/obese or not but age is definitely much more difficult. We can accurately guess a range with some accuracy but I don’t think anyone can tell a 27 year old from a 32 year old with reasonable accuracy. We are much better at guessing someone’s sex upon first glance of their face vs they’re exact age.
