I see two significant social forces that might be inevitably pushing this kind of drift into the absurd.

The first is the inherent human desire to "feel safe". Note the word "feel" here. People may "be" safer on an airplane, but they "feel" safer driving their car, even though they are actually less safe doing so. Of course, this affects men too, but not as much as our counterparts in general. Even though we are right now objectively living in the most safe time in the history of the world, somehow that only serves to heighten a large portion of the general public's sensitivity to danger, and this heightened fear only makes that group more susceptible to manufactured and created panics and imagined threats to them.

The second factor in the rise of this class of laws – and there are other pieces of legislation with similar functions in other countries, including my own – is likely the demographic shift towards more people being single, and the new economic pressures this creates. No longer are men's wallets open for relationship fleecing through dating, marriage, and divorce. That's a significant shift in economic power, putting a lot of influence back into the hands of men. The decisions over entertainment, leisure, recreation, transportation, etc, when purchasing products and services is now solely in the hands of men in an increasingly large percentage of the population. That is of course unacceptable. So along comes a law that will be largely applied through fines (don't worry guys – they say – you won't be put in jail or get a criminal record or anything like that!...this'll just be a simple fine to help "educate" you...though of course there's nothing simple about hundreds or thousands of dollars that you suddenly owe to the authorities). And so this monetary transfer to government gets put back into "society" (coughwomencough) to make up for that waning "shared" income (I put sharing in scare quotes here because of course it has always been exclusively in only one direction). These laws are designed in such a way that no man can be innocent of them, even if he is actually innocent (I mean, how dare anyone question her truth?).

The end result is that men seem to be destined to work their entire lives to protect and support others, no matter if they choose to do so or not. Even when all they want to do is to try and focus on their own mental and physical health, by living their lives in a simple and respectful way, these burdens and responsibilities are inevitably placed back on their shoulders, with little or no public assistance available for them (I mean, that would take from others, and there aren't enough socially valuable resources for everyone to use if not enough men don't produce more than they consume).

Thing is, this campaign won't have and likely isn't having its intended effect of stopping sexual harassment. Men cannot know how a woman will react to an interaction, and modern feminism has convinced our systems to essentially hand all power to the woman, so, for fear that she will react negatively, guys just forgo interaction altogether. For example, Johnny Depp was cleared and revealed to be the victim, but he did not receive restitution for his losses when he was accused falsely by Heard. When you run the risk of your life being obliterated by a single sentence, you just don't take the risk.

People (especially women, in my experience) like to slap "morally wrong", "problematic", or "creepy" on everything they don't like or agree with as it is extremely effective in getting rid of said thing under the zeitgeist. There should be nothing wrong with a lot of things that end up getting denounced anyway because some don't agree with it. Frankly, the law should be our meter, and if there is no absolute moral scale from a higher power, no person should judge another unless their action is illegal (who are you to decide who DiCaprio can date? As long as they're both consenting adults, it's fine and not your place) because morality is relative. A photo of a non-private part (as it is filming in public) or just looking should be OK as they don't affect the person looked at or filmed, and words should not be considered not OK unless the opinion that it is unwelcome is expressed. People are not mind readers, and "enforcing my rights" often really just means "unduly policing you". And the word of a woman is given more weight than a man's. What happened to equality? It is behind us.

While I believe that the feminist movement was founded on a good cause (giving women power while previously they had none), because humans nature is shitty, they went overboard, found that they loved power and being the oppressor, and just kept driving forward. People are disingenuous: they'll hold others to different standards than themselves, and this is one of the biggest examples. If the genders were reversed, this would get binned immediately.
