I ran into a ex boyfriend of my daughters the other day, I had to do a double take thinking for a moment my daughter was with him. Eh, I think the statement is kinda true but has its qualifications.

First of all, are you asking whether most men would fuck most women or whether most men would actually want a relationship with most women? The bar is definitely lower for fucking, because a guy can do it more discreetly. If it's a relationship, it's assumed that the girl will be at least somewhat included in his social circle, i.e. potentially meeting his friends and family, etc. Just because a girl meets the standard for fucking, that doesn't mean she meets the standard for being shown off in public.

Another qualification is the selection bias that is inherent in all humans because we all pay more attention to attractive people. When a guy thinks about "most women", he's bound to conveniently forget about a portion of the female population with boyish figures and distinctly unarousing "plain Jane" appearances.

When they say "not fat" it usually means she has to be on the lower end of normal BMI/higher end of underweight BMI. Studies show that men prefer 18-19 BMI. I'm not saying that's super hard to maintain because I maintain that by watching my portions/calories/eating a ton of vegetables and I run but it's definitely not what people think of as being "not fat".

Another thing to notice is how often men say they don't want to date women their age or women older than *insert here 20,25,30,35* because they have wrinkles, saggy bits or whatever.

Yes, men, as a group, are attracted to most women.

Not only they have a enormous range to what is acceptable, but what is acceptable also has a enormous variability.

In other words, not only there is virtually no trait which is not at least acceptable to a dozen or so men per thousand (discounting those related to a man's survival), but if you are not a extreme of a said bad trait, you will have some hundreds per thousand.

Case in point, Misses Velazques, the many times winner of the ugliest woman award, had 3 boyfriends (yes, really). Sure, her standards are obviously not as high as most women in the modern world, but not enough to lack options. I recommend checking their faces if you object.

If you mean "attracted" as in "sexually attracted" then yes. Men are attracted to most females. I am attracted to most females. That is not anything new.

If you mean "are you guys willing to have meaningful LTRs and marriages with most females" then I would say the answer is closer to a no. But that assumes the man in question has options. If the man doesn't have options then he picks what he can get.

Physically, yeah. Among women who aren't overweight, i can see beauty in at least 1/2 of women in my age range. So during times when i'm interested in casual sex, i don't have to be very picky (as long as i'm hanging out with a fit crowd). They're all cuties to varying degrees in my eyes, so personality and compatibility have become much more important than looks and style to me.

If a 9 is mean, boring, uninteresting, or otherwise not worth having in a given man's life, her days are numbered. This is a subtle question, I think. You'll see (at least) a couple of response types to this OP here:

Weirdos who claim to find only a small number of women "truly" attractive. This usually includes weirdo talk of ratios, facial structure, etc.

Neither of these kinds of responses is useful. But, if we try to define "attractive," the answer is a bit complex, I think. Personally, I consider attractive to mean:

I see a woman in any setting -- supermarket, doctor's office, library.
I think to myself, "Pleasant to look at. Let me see if I can get a better look at <random body part>. Yeah, I would like to have sex with her."

This little sequence happens to me many 10's of times a day (maybe >100 times on an active day). It does not happen with elderly (older than 60) women or children. So, yes, I believe I think this about >50% (i.e most) of all the non-elderly adult women I see. If you want to say "attractive" means something else, YMMV.

My understanding (in some part, gleaned from right here on PPD) is that women think something like this less than or about once per week, depending on how many people are in their immediate surrounds.

Both men and women have preferences. If given the option, they will prefer to have sex with their ideal. But most will settle for less than their ideal if they recognise that they do not meet that ideal and therefore aren’t likely to get it, plus when it comes to relationships there are many other factors taken into account and looks are only one slice of the pie chart. Plenty of men and women marry someone of similar attractiveness to themself and have happy lives together.

The fact that men are more willing to orgasm into the body of someone thats far below their ideal doesn’t feel like a privilege to women who don’t get off on being used and discarded. You have 2 groups whose experience of sex is very different and there’s no point in projecting your experience onto theirs.

This is for sex. For a long-term relationship a woman has to be more to a man than just not fat. So since women usually ultimately want more than just sex from men, it's important for them to cultivate other qualities besides their looks, such as their personalities, as well as their careers, as most men do not want to date someone significantly lower than them in status who would make them look bad at social events.

Most? Absolutely not. I remember being in college and most of the girls were very ordinary and while bangable not something I thought about. So if your standard is are most girls bangable then sure if you're willing to exclude the ugly and fat and old ones. But few girls really inspire a lot of lust in men unless they show interest and get to know them. Knowing people makes a difference for both men and women. I walk down the street and see a lot of mediocre looking chicks and think nothing much of them.

I feel like most guys just like sex. This doesn't mean they find most women sexually attractive. If they sleep with a woman, but won't look at her face, make her do certain positions or keep the lights off to hide her body, won't want to talk to her or see her again - that doesn't mean he's attracted to her. That means he's horny enough to settle.

It's so obvious when you look at social settings like school, the work place. The really beautiful girls get special attention, people talk to them more, they want to help them, they're allowed to make mistakes. The plain girls are invisible.

I also feel like there's a bit of selection bias going on. When guys say 'most women are attractive' they are already only thinking about the girls they see sexually. They aren't seeing the middle-aged chubby cashier, the older homeless woman on the side of the road, the girl with the unattractive face who only wears baggy clothes.

I will say I do think most guys have a broader range than most women. Also, they are more likely to fetishize conventionally unattractive traits. But I think when guys say they are attracted to most women, they are either exaggerating or being more generous than they realize.

Men's standards are quite a bit lower than women's standards. Yes, a girl could have a boyish figure, but some men are attracted to that. Men are pretty forgiving on unattractive faces. Yes, a woman with a boyish figure and unattractive face might attract low value men, but low value men are still men, and she can still get them.

For a man to risk rejection and take the time and expense to pursue a woman she has to be attractive enough to motivate him into action. However it’s no problem at all for the average female to seduce practically ANY MAN if only she were inclined to do so. Typically women take zero initiative and only wait for men to approach them. Not most but more than women see physically attractive men. I rember when asked on reddit how many people of opposite sex you find attractive every day you walk out. Men answers ranges dont go below 20%. Whenever women answers are around 1% to 5%.

Given their BMI is at most 22, I'd say I would not disqualify 95% of females based on appearance. At most 25, I'd say more like 75-80%. As soon as it crosses the line to overweight, it's a hard 0%. Obviously BMI is very flawed, so you can ignore those numbers and basically fill it in with "visually overweight" or "not visually overweight." In fact, with all of the internet's data, nobody seems to be able to produce an image of a woman who is unattractive, thin but not too thin, not deformed, and doesn't have any medical conditions or alterable traits holding her back. I can easily produce several male specimens that fit all these criteria.

The prettiest overweight woman in the world is infinitely less attractive than a "plain" or "boyish" or "unattractive faced" thin woman.

I've lived my SMV peak by being ignored by guys, not even friendzoned. They fail to realize that IRL they go for the 80/20 rule, too. Too many times I've seen how guys, in a group of both genders (say religious gatherings, school groups, volunteer projects, etc.) they muster the courage to hit on ONLY the most beautiful girls (even if they have very different goals in life. The relationship would never last, even if the girl/woman would give them a chance).

The ones that say that are, usually older guys ( >30 years), are the same ones that have previously only had eyes for the really beautiful ones. But since men can have their cake and eat it too, now target the younger demographic (17-27 year olds females, preferably virgins) with more realistic expectations regarding beauty, but still will want someone with a very low BMI (low body fat percentage).

The online dating data posted by okcupid, tinder, bumble, doesn't take into account that a lot of guys play the numbers game, or set up bots to spam with generic/tailored messages. The profiles of women don't even have to have photos or text, the only requirement is being "18-25 years old female".

I have always been very selective regarding women, but my tastes are sometimes very particular and uncommon. There are some facial features that truly repulse me and some others (not conventionally attractive) that I find super sexy.

Out of 100 women, about 40 I find completely repulsive sexually. Of the remaining 60, about 30 would be somewhat attractive to me but not special in any way, about 20 I would like, and the remaining 10 would be women I would bang in a heartbeat.

Even the tall, in shape guys in my group of friends who are doing fine financially are in long term relationships with chunky average faced women.

This is why I'm so fascinated by the "truefemcel" sub. What did these women do in their late teens and 20s? Did they ever take the initiative to ask men out, approach them, get to know them? Or did they reject the small portion of men in their lives that were actually interested in them? Or maybe possibly they have some birth defects or major disabilities? I don't know but, with the way the present dating scene is, it has to be incredibly absurd for a woman to not be able to get a significant other. I work with women in their 40s who are overweight and nothing special to look at and they still have men sending them flowers while they're at work.

I really think a good chunk of these femcel types may have blown opportunities they've had with the hope that holding out for something better would come their way. They make the mistake that some low tier men make as well.

Take someone for myself as example, I've only ever encountered three women in my life that have expressed romantic interest, I was in a relationship with two of them. Imagine if I turned all three down, I'd be in an awful position.

Most people who I've heard of who can't get laid tend to set their sights unrealistically high. Aside from that, a lot of guys in that situation tend to show a weird hostility towards women they find unattractive.

And I'm a guy, and I've got a fairly wide range, but I wouldn't go as far as most.
