I have posted many times about myself dating a guy who wanted to travel the world for like, 10+ years. I had a VERY similar conversation with a year ago and it took me until very recently (after joining FDS and some self-reflection) to accept that it was okay to be upset about it. I broke up with them but the experience made it clear to me that I needed to level up and learn to love myself better so that I can pursue what I really want and never feel the need to settle for less.

Fuck everything about this. He crossed the boundary between "fun loving young traveller" and "filthy old sex tourist" at least five years ago. Who wants to bet he looks like shit and is socially awkward as all hell too (hence the friend described as "very outgoing")?

What was he doing for the first 32.5 years of his life? My guess is either wanking under a rock or buying into the lie that he could sell his youth and then just sail into the ownership of a wife appliance a decade or two younger than him. Reality caught up with him, he had to settle for someone near him in age, and now either he's into his premature midlife crisis or he's revealing his true, shitty self. Hopefully there's a divorce and another harsh reality check in his immediate future.

IF he ever actually travels, he's in for a sore disappointment. Tourist bars/clubs will be jam packed with men like him, local and foreign. He'll be far from the only foreign scrote on OLD trying to convince the locals that he's moving to the country or already lives there. He might get "dates" with more opportunistic locals, and they'll fleece him for all they can get.

Him and the "very outgoing" single friend will end up paying for sex, and when he gets home he'll be just another sad middle aged man who flung away the security of a marriage for fuck all.
