I wish he would return the appreciation and started picking up his shorts. But I'm pretty sure he doesn't feel the same about her.

[–]millennialpink2000FDS Apprentice 860 points861 points862 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Clutching your husband's dirty shorts like they were your dead child is hysterical. If this is the marriage the rest of us are supposed to aspire to, I'll happily die alone. This is so pathetic it's almost breathtaking

[–]vbych76FDS Newbie 79 points80 points81 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

😂 she is absurd, hugging those shorts, in which he farted his life away..

[–]modemarktFDS Newbie 267 points268 points269 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Seriously this makes me depressed 😔 This is literally the type of women most men WANT to be with/married to. I know there’s always jokes and stuff here about gross, low life men and all but honestly the average man is this. Someone who may not necessarily be super gross and abusive or a cheater but like overall is useless but he believes he is gods gift to you because he doesn’t cheat or abuse you so therefore you should worship, cherish and apparently smell their dirty pants. This stuff for sure confirms that I am seriously going to be alone forever because I will never be like the girl in the video.

Is this a military wife? I swear, I’m former military and military wives are the biggest pickmes. They also have that gross “religious worship” undertone to how they view their soldier husband. Calm down, Brittany, he’s an 88H, he ain’t storming the beaches of Normandy or some shit.

[–]cranesinspaceFDS Newbie 222 points223 points224 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

She is indeed. I just watched in disbelief from the “nagging” to hugging shorts cause he might not come home? And all the comments obviously love it and share how much they appreciate that they get to clean up after their husbands.

[–]pickmieshaexorcistFDS Disciple 339 points340 points341 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You can wish your husband to not die, and still expect him to pick up after himself like a fucking adult. These two things are not mutually exclusive.

[–]cranesinspaceFDS Newbie 93 points94 points95 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

100%, seems not in their world though

[–]her-vagestyFDS Newbie 50 points51 points52 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ohhhh I interpreted "don't come home" as they don't come home cuz they're out cheating. This makes way more sense why she'd be emotional 😂

[–]grmpygillsFDS Newbie 42 points43 points44 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In the same vein, if he could not come home at any given moment, he should be doing everything he can to make life easy for her. Aka. Pick up his damn shorts.

[–]Emergency-Feed8216FDS Apprentice 107 points108 points109 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

My dad was a partly disabled combat veteran who survived one of the worst battles of the 20th century. He was also a radical feminist supporter who gave presentations on behalf of a national feminist organization on misogyny in secondary school text books. He was 6'2" with a booming voice and didn't need a mic to be heard in the back row of an ampitheater. The organizers adored him. There was never any trouble from protesters when he was around.

He picked up his own shorts. He also cooked, did laundry and gardened. My mother once gave him a copy of Playboy as a joke but he never took it out of the plastic wrapper. He thought porn was depressing and degrading. He was completely agnostic so it had nothing to do with religious convictions. Sex work reminded him of war.

[–]myeggsarebigFDS Newbie 35 points36 points37 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This was nice to read 🙂

[–]Emergency-Feed8216FDS Apprentice 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ah, dad. He died in 2008 but had a curiously FDS-ish view of relationship rules.

He wasn't perfect. He never fully recovered from PTSD and would occasionally talk to walls. I would ask him who he was talking to and he would joke, "Private conversation." He didn't have much luck with psychotherapists who, in those days, blamed everything on mothers while my dad blamed everything on men. So he managed his lingering trauma through art and by reading stacks of books on sociology, feminism, ecology and politics. He seemed to be forever trying to understand what happened to him, why so many people had to die and why humans love war. He concluded that if women-- especially mothers-- held equal power across the board, there would be fewer wars.

He'd stick tomes on all these subjects in front of me at breakfast and expect me to read them and debate. My mother joked he was trying to raise a rebel. He mansplained a lot but also expected me to challenge his views. Consequently, all my life, whenever some guy would mansplain, I always assumed that this was to spark a lively, friendly point-by-point debate.

That's when I figured out my dad was unusual. Hey, who'd a thunk-- most men hate being challenged. But that's how I met one college boyfriend-- his friend was arguing with me about politics and I held my ground. Hands were waving around, it got loud. Little did I know my bf'-to-be's mother was a French socialist and his second cousin fought with Che Guevara. He was hands down the best looking guy I've ever laid eyes on and was dazzled by my big mouth lol. Then I met my husband when discussing Garcia Marquez and mass denial of evil. Light subject matter.

My dad was definitely "different" and being raised by him turned me into a controversial figure, particularly in my career. I was always battling for justice and right and good. But it was like sending up flares to draw in fellow outliers.

My dad also tried to put my money where his feminist mouth was by making me take sports I didn't care for on his theory that women must be strong to defend themselves. When it turned out that my ballet training-- which my dad thought was too wimpy-- was what saved me from an attempted assault at 18 (I didn't learn to kick like that in AAU swimming), he conceded that he made a ton of mistakes raising me. When he was dying from a medical error, I let him know that my deep sense of my right to fight back came from him and my mom. RIP, Dad, you rugged individualist weirdo.

[–]extragoudaFDS Newbie 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's what I was thinking. That he's gone to war and she's hugging the dirty shorts of a dead man. Or in this case, a guy who isn't dead.

[–]Z3z6 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

I don't like this...military wives get their own brainwashing.

Pretty much all military spouse "support groups" are like a cult that exists to reinforce the programming as a means of survival. It gets pushed as "coping strategies."

"Spouses" (wives only though!) are blamed for the failures of "their soldier" and given a brief mention in public (and derision in private for having received the 5-8 seconds of verbal public acknowledgment for their sacrifices and struggles) for "their soldiers" success/lack of failure.

Edit to Add: the military branches create and provide power point presentations specifically for 'spouses' (wives) directing and encouraging these behaviors and even directly such thoughts. They also present PowerPoints to the military service members about their spouses and what makes a "good military wife" and what does not. It's twisted as fuck.

[–]pickmieshaexorcistFDS Disciple 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Oh believe me I know it’s a weird cult. I was in the military. Not only was I a soldier, my ex husband is still in as an officer. So I got all the spouse stuff too.

It doesn’t mean I won’t call this woman out for being silly. Like I said in my other comment, wanting him to be an adult and pick up after himself wouldn’t mean you don’t appreciate him if he dies in combat. Like the system tries to guilt trip women to never have any issues or problems of their own because he might die! How dare you have needs! Keep picking up his shit-stained drawers you ungrateful cow! That’s the vibe and I’m not here for it.

And might I add, male spouses of female soldiers do not get this same martyr guilt-trip shit. It’s just good old fashioned sexism.

I’m not going to be nasty and call her a “dependa” like men who make it a sport to rag on these women. But I am gonna say, come on now, get a grip and put those gross boxers down.

[–]Winesday_addamsFDS Newbie 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

What? I've never seen any of those and I've seen a lot of PowerPoints. Do they only show them to males or something? I'm in the military.

[–]BusinessTwistofLimeFDS Newbie 14 points15 points16 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

The dependa subreddit is full of stuff like this.

[–]pickmieshaexorcistFDS Disciple 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I don’t like “dependa” stuff because it’s just men making fun of women (plus it’s mostly fat jokes). I’ll point out her pickmeism but I’ll never call her a “dependa”.

[–]BusinessTwistofLimeFDS Newbie 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm not familiar with the military wives culture so I appreciate your explanation and clarification regarding the use of dependa. Culture is nuanced and appropriation of certain terms without understanding the context of their use can be harmful.

I only know about that subreddit because Reddit has been throwing random subs at me. I got sucked in one day watching videos. Thank you again for the explanation.

[–]pickmieshaexorcistFDS Disciple 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh sorry I wasn’t targeting that comment at you. Just in general. And yeah you’ll probably see it if you hang out there long enough, a lot of it is just an excuse to hate on fat wives of soldiers. The husbands of female soldiers don’t get a degrading name, even though I knew a ton of female soldiers married to (and forever GFs with) absolute losers.

[–]Japanese-SpaghettiPickmeisha™️ 316 points317 points318 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Huh??? This poor woman. She must have been extremely emotionally neglected as a child to be feeling closer to her husband because he puts clothes on the floor 😐

My husband often takes a shit in the living room. I don’t nag him about using the toilet, I just take care of it.

Then I think about all the dead baby seals, clubbed to death, for their beautiful pelt.

The funny part for me is that she is clutching his dirty shorts, as if they're some holy relic, and all he is thinking about is how annoying/embarrassing she is for making this video. He would never do the same for her.

Go on, Pickmeisha, snuggle his ball sweat rags til your heart’s content! Personally, I’d be setting a pair of his manties on fire each day til he had no underwear left and he’d have no one to ask where his underwear was because I’d already be moved out. The only sign I was ever there would be the divorce paperwork in his underwear drawer and the boxer ashes in the fireplace.

Asking someone to pick up their shorts is considered nagging because they might die? We’re all gonna die. And we’re all supposed to behave like grown ups in between the time we live and die.

She could just as easily used the same thought process - “I’m not trying to die with a legacy as an underwear-picker-upper of grown men.”

Set the underwear on fire!

I’m someone who is a very young widow and these kinds of posts irritate me to no end. A lot of my friends were shocked and horrified when I lost my guy, but it got fucking old to hear about how it made them appreciate their LVM boyfriends and husbands more and they thought about little things like this with appreciation because of my situation. NO. You do not need to be grateful that your “partner” is around to inconvenience and never help you around the house or with your kids just because other men die. Other women die too but I’m sure he isn’t treating you any better at the slight chance you stop living tomorrow.

I loved my husband more than I’ll probably love another man ever again. I cherish our very short life together. I’m glad I can miss the many thoughtful and wonderful things he did for me every single day when I think of him, not the fact that he treated me like a bangmaid. Jfc.

[–]bigsquishycatfaceFDS Newbie 27 points28 points29 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If she were a true tradwife, those shorts wouldn’t get folded from the floor - they’d be laundered first. I’m being sarcastic, of course.

As a happily married woman, I’m glad to do laundry because my husband pays all the bills and I don‘t work. But I don’t shake his night shorts out and embrace them. Lol

Yea.. i mean you can see your partner's faults in a loving light when youre together for a long time, because you love and accept your partner (though routinely dropping pants by the bed knowing your wife will pick them up is more of a shitty lifestyle choice than a flaw). Adoring your partner's dropped pants is very self degrading. I always get the feeling women who make this vids do it as a way to emotionally manipulate their partner - "see how much i appreciate you publicly, now you cant leave me". Or as an attempt to guilt all of his friends in case they are enabeling his cheating.

Also i must mention she is sprinkling some shaming by revealing her partner's unattractive "flaw", while presenting herself as a perfect martyr bearing this flaw because she loves him.

[–]extragoudaFDS Newbie 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

This is too much mental gymnastics for me. I think if you're afraid of a relationship breaking, you should let it break. If it is meant to be, it will be. If a guy can't handle picking up his shorts and leaves, let him leave.

“I will never take these moments for granted.” What in the actual fuck did I just watch?

This is exactly what will happen. Men only respect you as much as you respect yourself. In fact, not just men. People only respect you as much as you respect yourself.

Note: For anyone misunderstanding my statement, I never said that people shouldn't respect others, I am just saying that they won't... and they will use your weak boundaries to take advantage of/abuse you because a lot of people, in particular a lot of men, seem to do this. My statement was specifically about respecting yourself enough to have boundaries. Especially boundaries about hugging dirty shorts.

I don't agree with this. There is literally a 4 hour old post on this sub about on why this type of thinking is harmful for us.

[–]extragoudaFDS Newbie 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

There is? Where? I didn't see it. Please link?

Edit: I found it, thanks.

I mean, they SHOULD respect you, but they WON'T. They will use your lack of boundaries and lack of self-respect as a reason to keep treating you terribly. I never said that they shouldn't respect women, which is what you incorrectly thought I was saying. Women without strong boundaries are easy for abusive men (such as narcissists, who often look for empaths) to target.

I don't spend all day on reddit so didn't see a 4 hour old post on this sub. In future, please link so that I can investigate, or ask me to clarify what I was saying.

nothing that reminds you of love more than picking up his dirty shorts every day 😐

She's gonna cry when her husband doesn't come home...because he found another woman who would lick the brownie streaks off his underwear.

Edit: I can't stop watching this video, it is just so bad it's hilarious

Damn, thought after saying "I took care of it" she gonna open the window and toss the shorts out. Too bad.

Lol… what? Some women “don’t come home” either, doesn’t seem to bother him that much.

[–]detikripurFDS Newbie 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Jered would have no more clean shorts in a week if he did that to ME. I have seen it with my father and brother. They never learned to put the clothes where they belong. You could easily find underwear ON the washing machine or in the corridor just because.

[–]extragoudaFDS Newbie 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Huh? I don't get it? Some husbands don't come home? From what? War? Why does he leave shorts by the bed?

[–]kerean1997FDS Newbie 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How emotionally damaged do you have to be to get this low? Like, actually.

[–]myeggsarebigFDS Newbie 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I was hoping that she would chuck them out the window 😩. My disappointment in immeasurable and my day is ruined.

[–]NovemberinthechairFDS Disciple 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I thought she was going to toss those sasquatch sized shorts out the window.

How fucking disappointing.

I'm going to go vomit now.

His shorts left by the bed bother her so little she posts that on social media instead of talking to him directly.

Honestly people who gloat about not nagging as if they're One Of The Good Ones(TM) are more insufferable than actual naggers. I say this as someone who hates being nagged. At least when someone nags me I know what the problem is. People that pretend there is no problem until they explode are the reasons you see posts like "she divorced me over dirty dishes".

Stockholm syndrome, it’s gotta be some type, when are they adding it to the DSM-5?

Leave your period panties on the floor and say you’re not coming home again if they’re still on the floor where you left them for him to pick up.
