Young people these days are just super fucking cool. There's still a lot of non-FDS mindsets, especially around sex/BDSM/non-monogomy, but overall they're just not into the "be a doormat for a man and then maybe he'll.love you eventually" stuff.
It's a fairly common joke for straight women to joke "you know how I know sexuality isn't a choice? Cause I like men :(" and talk about how most straight men are trash.
Like I'm regularly getting a schooled about independence and emotional maturity in relationships from 20 yr olds on tiktok. And based on the way media and ads/products directed at young women are shifting, I think it's a pretty widespread trend.

I’ve noticed that since I joined and started following FDS and accounts with similar messages, the algorithms have started to show me more of the same. I’m seeing more and more women of my generation (early-mid 20s) standing up for themselves and calling out pick-me/patriarchal bs. Of course it’s interspersed with pickme nonsense like this tweet, but the response to it has changed from even just a year ago.

I’ve heard about this curious phenomenon a lot, but have never had it happen. I consider it a blessing that it hasn’t, but I still wonder why.... I certainly had some pickmeisha ways.

Men want the most convenient companionship they can find. They also have crazy inertia. They will stay in a relationship, totally mentality checked out, for years. As long as the woman lets the guy put his peepee in her peepee once in a while, he'll stay.
He might not like her, truly doesnt even matter. As long as the legs open once in a while, and it's no incremental effort or cash spent, he'll stay.
Notice that he only talks about what she does for him and nothing else. Reminds me of my dumbass ex who in his last Valentines Day letter he wrote how I make him feel more comfortable at uni and his grades are better because I help him and said like nothing about what I am as a person. That's why he's single now 😂
Also I don't buy men who say "I needed her" like this man does because it implies she's there for something that he can fix himself. It's better when someone says they "want you" in their lives instead of "needing". It just feels off to me.

Those last two sentences ignite rage in me. It should NOT be like that! You either KNOW what you have and value it the entire time, or you don't deserve it. I have a lot of emotional trauma from that sort of behaviour. I'm telling you: if that's how you're being treated, that guy is not the one.
