Lots of women,like my sister, just end up alone in their 30s and just focus on cultivating friends after a decade of living the high life and never dropping their standards. Women in my family who are the stereotypical picky spinsters seem far more happier and fulfilled than the guys I know who end up alone due to circumstance or their own inability to attract a mate. In my country, roughly 20 percent of women over 50 have never been married or have had children and yet male suicides for those over 45 and single are multiple times higher then women in their age group and who are also single. Women are far more equipped to deal with loneliness than men, which is why I think many are also refusing to settle. Lots of Women would rather be alone than be in a marriage of convenience with men they're not attracted to. I'm starting to think men are the far more romantic and emotionally needy gender, whilst women are the more calculating and self assured, at least in regards to relationships.

Most ugly mens problem is that they are 3-4 and see themselves as a 5.5-6 and the girl who is a 7.5 and dates a 8 man they see as a 6, so they think she is going above her league and does not consider them even though "she's in the same league as me!" but truly the 7.5-8.5 man she dates IS her looksmatch.

Society pressures women to settle for less "just give him a chance! he's a good guy! so what if he's not really your type?" and that's why many women date men who they're not 100% attracted to. I used to give men i wasn't attracted to a chance too, it never escalated to a relationship as i realized i do not want to sleep with those men so it would usually end at the 5th date mark.

They are not settling. The older and more experienced you are, the less important looks become and the more important character becomes.

Because you can't have a relationship with a mismatched character and you can have a relationship with someone uglier.

But that's an unwanted truth, so even though all us experienced folks are saying it, the younger folks are ignoring that until they end up dating a hottie whose mismatched. As in one person is a cleanfreak and the other a slob or one person is a foodie and the other is picky, ... Notice how I'm not saying any quality that makes someone a bad person, but those relationships can't work without some big compromises and changes and someone having the rest of their life not being who they are. It's misery all around.

It's like the lesson 'character > look', is something you learn by walking head-first in a wall. By trying to compromise that hard because someone is hot.

And when they are older and they have learned, then they aren't settling because they are picking whose most compatible with them regardless of looks. Because the looks aren't going to help with a mismatch.

Men and women have extremely high standards these days. I don't really think that's a bad thing though. And being settled for is just as awful for a woman as it is for a man.

But your claim that "all [women] think they can get celebrity like men who are not only an 8 or 9 in the looks department, but also well rounded in every other area" is just silly. Not all women think that. Sure, all women would like that. All men would too. Who wouldn't want that in a partner? The key is that not all people are entitled and think that's what they need.

And yes, women date and shop around while they're young. So do men. People aren't rushing to get married anymore, because marriage isn't as essential as it used to be. So taking that step is a big deal, and I think these days people are wanting to make sure it's what they actually want before tying the knot. Divorce rates for millennials, for example, are lower compared to other generations.

Saying "women don't care because they think they're doing the guy a favor and that he's lucky to be with her" is a pretty damn sexist thing to say. Sure ,some women are shitty like that. Maybe even a lot of women. But hell, there are a lot of men like that too. Shitty people exist.

You don't have women figured out as much as you'd like to think you do.

My partner isn't athletic, he's bald, get's blackheads on his nose and back, and has a hard time communicating his thoughts sometimes. He's poor and can't afford most things for himself, let alone me. He has a mental illness that makes it so he can get really worked up over little things.

And I think he is the most wonderful, attractive, amazing person. He's not perfect, but he's perfect for me. He values me, he's kind to me. He's understanding and smart and so so funny. Gosh and he's so talented too. He works hard as hell and still makes time to enjoy his hobbies. He's passionate and caring and always trying to better himself. He encourages me in my goals, is proud of me when I succeed, and supports me even when I fail.

His eyes are so blue and I get lost in their warmth. His smile lifts me up even on my lowest of days. His body fits perfectly with mine, I love touching him and listening to him and experiencing life with him.

Plus he got a booty that don't quit I tell ya what.

I'm so happy I waited and didn't settle down with anyone else who came before him.

I agree that people, no matter male or female, should feel valued in their relationships.

Women can have high standards today. They couldn't afford to be as choosy years ago and once they were married, they pretty much had to deal with whatever he did because they didn't have any other options and divorce wasn't common. So if he was a wife beater or philanderer, they had to basically suffer in silence.

Women don't have to settle for inferior anymore. A lot of them are financially independent and don't need to be with a man just because she needs someone to support her. Those days are gone (although there are still some women out there looking for a guy to support them).

I agree it is a good thing. I'm not against girls having high standards as long as they're okay with being single if they cant find someone who fits their criteria.

Oh my god it's not like people just go with this checklist and if you check right then the person loves you. People fall in love. Sometimes you find that a person you love differs from your check list in some way and suddenly it doesn't matter at all, sometimes someone meets the checklist and you feel nothing at all. Above all the checklist means nothing. It's not the traits that make you fall in love becuase love is something so personal and individual that you cant think it up just like that, list is what you think of during the time where you dont love anybody. What you think up are shallow and generic traits, maybe some outlines of what simply is not right but it's not substance of a person. When you love someone it isnt settling, because you literally dont want a different person and could care less if someone was two points better looking or had a more compatible hobby or a more interesting job because it wouldn't be THEM and it would all be trivial nonsense.

When you love someone the feeling is that if you could have anyone in the world youd only want them, which is different then objectively saying "yup, they are the absolutely best specimen that exists in the world/that i can get. Now I will love them." I can imagine most of us could meet this generically perfect person and feel nothing because love isnt something you can make yourself feel. It's a connection that happens and you fall in love before you can even know it let alone choose it. It's a realization and not a choice, that you just love this person. And if you actually love them you wouldnt even be able to answer the question why you love them with any type of list of traits (if you can then it's not love), you can list millions of stuff you like about them and you can list flaws but you love them for something undefinable that belongs only to them, their essence that can never be dissected or broken to components.

If someone said "I love my wife/husband because they are the best looking person I know, they work the ideal job, they have good hobbies, and we wanted the same number of kids, plus we share the same values and beliefs when it comes to religion or lack of it, morality and ethics." I would simply see someone who doesn't love their wife/husband.

Somewhat of a misconception....there is a small segment of women represented\fantasized over on PPD and reddit which are out fucking a different dick 10 days a week during their entire 20s, then get are worn to a frazzle before they 'settle" for one of the remaining low quality dude to marry.

This is a tiny minority in every community, except in the drug, trailer park or urban ghettos. The vast majority of women spend their 20s searching for their partner thru a series of STRs or dating which never get to the girl fucking every date in the back of a 85 Vega.

PPD and other such reddit subs have an overrepresentation of such as well as a huge number of thirsty virgins with no experience who fantasize a lifestyle about these women.

I think everyone "settles" eventually. People take (what they perceive as) the best that they can get, at whatever stage or point in life they're in. If you want to call it "settling," then sure, but it's not "settling" for everyone.

But let's be real here: nobody wants to die alone, or even live alone. If some people creep closer and closer to the onset of old age while being single, they're going to go out and look for someone. Completely rational and reasonable, if you ask me. Being and/or feeling isolated isn't great. Trust me. I like it because I'm pretty introverted, but it does suck sometimes when you get the feeling that you don't fit in and/or nobody wants you to fit in.

Settlers aren't the majority, BUT there are enough of them out there that guys who are low on the attractiveness spectrum need to be extremely careful. And yes, you're bang on correct about gauging a girls level of interest in you. Anything less than HIGH interest is unacceptable for anything serious, and I'm so glad to see more guys realizing this. Since I fixed my looks and also started screening out the settlers, the quality of my relationships skyrocketed. All the drama, high materialistic demands, cheating, rationing sex, game playing, bad attitudes...all that is gone now. In all the years since I started filtering out the settlers, I haven't had a single relationship like that. Not one. Settling indeed happens. They're not the majority, but they're definitely out there, and never let anyone try to tell you otherwise.

No, not all women settle down.

First of all, not all women get married to a guy, who they wouldn't chose to have sex in their 20s. I know plenty of couples, where a woman did serial monogamy and her spouse is somewhat similar to her previous partners or is better than they were in some aspect. They either found someone who was the best for them or they just got ready for marriage in general. Like not everyone is ready to get married in their 20s. it's totally okay.

Secondly, not all women even get married or actively want to do it. Yes, the percent is quite small, around 4% of women who have never been married, but they still exist. There are also bisexuals and lesbains.

Thirdly, some women get married pretty early, so do you think that they settle down too? It seems that most TRPers believe that women settle down around or after 30s. And lastly, my personal experience. I'm not from the US though. I got married at 21 and it is quite early, but it isn't that seldom, I know a few couples of our age who got married during or right after the university and they're doing okay. I can't say that I "settled down", my husband is a great person, we're really good together and, well, even though he was my first boyfriend, I've never thought that I should have got more experience, I think that we're really lucky to meet each other that early.

If you haven't personally examined every available option (which is mathematically impossible with billions of people in the world) and decide to cultivate your feelings and life with this particular one rather than a possible different one who may be out there, you have settled.

My standards were pretty high. Then I got into an abusive relationship. Once that was over my standards became - nice, loves me, doesn't hurt me, and has a job. Even men settle, because of women's over high standards. I also think that one some people like others would find settling so you don’t really know how they feel, just cause you see their partner as not being in their “league”. Also as you get older what matter to you changes, we all will get old and then you want to make sure you loved more than just that persons looks. And on top of the liking one type of person doesn’t mean you hate or are disgusted by someone who’s not like that. I like tall guys but I’ve also dated guy closer to my height and found them just as attractive so if someone has a type that is like “8-10” doesn’t mean them dating someone who isn’t that it is settling.

The quality of men a woman can get at 30 years old is (much) lesser than the quality of men that she could get when she was 22-23. Of course, every women realizes this around the age of 30.

In theory, the best sexual strategy a woman can have is to go into an LTR from a young age with a high-status, good looking (alpha) masculine, man. I wouldn’t call it settling, id call it maturity. When you’re young you’re so sure that the Perfect Partner that meets 100% of your needs (and you 100% of theirs), has nearly identical interests and social strategy to yourself, and basically shits rainbows is out there.

Then you get older and realize that A. That’s ludicrous, nobody is perfect, in general or for you and B. The healthiest relationships are between individuals that are different from each other to some extent.

It’s best that you have your own hobbies and interests as well as common ones. It’s best that you have friends that are primarily yours. Those are healthy things. What young people see as True LoveTM is actual codependency and it usually doesn’t last.

Your partner will have flaws and things that aren’t ideal. To them, you do as well. That’s okay. Love them for who they are, not for being a reflection of yourself, because they are not.

So yeah, I think people “settle” in that they realize they can love someone despite the relationship not being some fantastical SOULMATE, EVERYTHING IS PERFECT ALL THE TIME. As long as you get along, truly care for each other, and are genuinely strongly sexually attracted, you can both put in the work to make a marriage work.

No one is settling lol, as you get older you just value things more and take things more seriously. That's why by 30 people are trying to settle down, by then you also have learned enough life lessons and experienced things to be able to apply to life decisions. Such as confidence in choosing a mate, what kind, and how long you need to know to know they are the one you want to settle down with.

Statistically, men and women know by 6 months to a year max, if that's who they want to marry or not. Your 20s is childsplay

It can't be as simple as that. I think it really depends more on the individuals involved. There's some people that marriage will never work for them. Is not about settling down it's more the idea of starting a family with someone and being locked in with them. For some people they would kill to have someone settle for them because the loneliness is maddening. There should be a lot of people who are willing to live an average life. I refuse to believe that the average person isn't looking for an average life. Surely they want to be slightly above-average, they want to make a little more money, they want their spouse to be relatively attractive, they want to be relatively stable. They don't expect to be Superstars though. They don't expect to be rich , they don't want a mansion, they don't want their spouse to be a f****** supermodel. It is extremely depressing to believe that the average person wants to live like a millionaire, expects to live like a millionaire. I'm an average man, one of my goals for the longest has been to live an average life. I want to make about 60,000 a year. I want to find a cute girlfriend who I'll eventually make my wife. I want to move out of New York City go somewhere rural and own land. I want to build or buy a house by the time I'm Thirty ish, and by that time I also want to be married and maybe have a kid on the way. There's nothing extraordinary about that, not for an American at least. Surely I dont deviate to much from the bellcurve.

As best I've figured from following this sub and other redpill sources, here is how terpism works:

If you're someone who has issues with women, a philosophy that ranks everyone on an objective 1 - 10 scale and almost exclusively values women for youth and beauty is incredibly seductive. It means you can look at the 22 year old who rejected you and think "well, you'll be over the hill in a couple years and no one will want you and you'll end up alone" and jerk off about rejecting her instead.

The problem is, of course, that not everyone thinks this way. So when she gets older and more sexually experienced your rejection doesn't hit nearly as hard as you'd like -- she can laugh in your face and go find someone who appreciates her as a 30 something who's slept around a lot. Now if she has a happy loving marriage, then you and all your thoughts and opinions on female value are utterly irrelevant.

So of course the hamster wheels start turning because it is absolutely vital that you convince yourself that her "happy marriage" is merely a miserable partnership with a low-value man she doesn't actually care about or find attractive who likewise doesn't care about her but can't get laid otherwise. Problem solved! Turns out you were right all along! Her husband doesn't value her and she's stuck in a sad marriage with someone she never wants to bang! You get to gloat!

Now the problem with this is that it preserves your feelings in some ways but it also makes you obsessively neurotic about "settling." You were almost certainly the anxious type to begin with or you wouldn't be here at all and now all that anxiety is laser-focused on the fear that your partner has "settled" for you. So you scour her sexual history and lose your shit any time she's involved herself with someone who wasn't your exact carbon copy and you freak out every time she refuses to be a doormat because "she would have done it for chad" and you obsess over whether she's had "better" -- literally, every single man alive is "better" than you in some aspect, so this line of thought will provide a veritable wellspring of things to be anxious about! Believing in that objective ranking comes back to haunt you here, because if she's not super into you then it doesn't mean the two of you are incompatible -- it means you're low-value. So most of this anxious flailing is just you trying to preserve your self-image.

And yes, people will settle down when they want to settle down. There's a common stereotype about men that it doesn't matter who the woman is -- if he's ready to get married, she'll end up marrying her and if not then it really doesn't matter how great she is. I've never in my life felt particularly bitter about this fact. That's because despite whatever other standards I may have, "so in love with me he'll derail all his plans and put aside everything he wanted in order to be with me" isn't one of them. If that's your standard, you're setting yourself up for inevitable failure because whoever you end up with is a human being who has priorities outside of romantic relationships.

Everyone "settles" in some way but most people aren't unhappy about it.
