A lot more interracial couplings, and short-term probably more distilled pockets of varying dating cultures (though it will homogenize over time, just as second and third-generation children of immigrants slowly assimilate and become indistinguishable culturally from their peers).

Being a first-gen immigrant myself (arrived at 8), I definitely had some 'fresh off the boat' tendencies and assumptions that took a few years to shake off. But you figure out the meta, and then you adjust. And not to mention, city/suburban/rural are all completely different dating cultures.

And before someone asks why would an 8 year old have thoughts about dating...I didn't. But you consume native language media while you learn English, and how they display relationships stick with you. How your parents and other elders of your native communities interact sticks with you. The lessons of how to become a man, a gentleman, etc. sticks with you. Then you learn most of it is not useful because it's for a non-western culture, which circles back to the adapt thing.

People tend to avoid those that are too culturally different and can't relate. Those people will date within their own communities. My boyfriend's parents are from Nigeria and acclimated to US culture. I'm from New Orleans. Our relationship is like any other.

Those who don't find themselves to be compatible with their host countries tend to date within their own communities, most end up with someone with a similar background. Having a different culture to your partner isn't necessarily a bad thing either, people can just make it a problem. It's not really a change from "normal" dating, I haven't found it such and even people I know from more "different" cultures to their partner/host country haven't found it a big deal (and don't get me wrong, there are other big deals, just not dating). Many came with their partners anyway.

Mass immigration will give desirable men and women more dating options. This is because dating is a numbers game and the more people available to you, the greater chance you have of finding a match.

However, if you are an incel/femcel it will have no impact on you whatsoever. Immigrants who have the freedom to date freely will be attracted to the Chads/Beckys like everyone else. My wife and I are from different countries and cultures, but not so radically different that either of us had to make some kind of huge concessions to the other. We found through chatting before the dating stage that we were very compatible, which is part of why we decided to date in the first place.

And I think it is mostly like what others here are saying. Two people will compromise where they can for happiness or contentment. Those who are too radically different from each other or have dealbreakers in opposition to one another simply won't try to force square pegs and round holes, so-to-speak. And the people who move to another country but still hold on to some of the ideas that might not be as popular will simply look toward their own communities.

People can still marry someone who’s from the same background and was raised with the same values, expectations, etc. but if they fall in love with someone who was raised very differently they just have to adapt and learn to understand where they’re coming from. It’s also about understanding that the way you view things may not apply to the person since they were raised differently. Syrian women are a good example of such a big difference in values because they’re from a culture where they save themselves for marriage and don’t prioritize relationships too much at young adulthood instead opting to focus on their education and work opportunities. If you’re not used to that it might seem like they’re not attracted or don’t like you for whatever reason but that’s just the background they’re from.

I honestly think that the immigrants that come here with radically different values are highly unlikely to start dating outside of their community, especially if they are first generation. So it's not going to be much of an issue.

I think we also tend to overstate our differences with immigrants quite a bit, based on things like language, religion, or even just geography. A Syrian Muslim might not actually be that different from a socially conservative Christian, for example. A lot of it depends on why the family immigrated. A lot of immigrants come here because they really do share American ideals of liberal democracy and secular consumerism. Europe has a much different perspective on Muslim immigration because many of the immigrants are refugees that immigrated purely out of necessity, and are not really looking to embrace Western values and lifestyle.

We have a lot of immigrants where I’m from (Miami) it really doesn’t make any difference. Mainly because most of the immigrant cultures coming in already have huge communities within the region that it’s really not that big of a leap in culture from where they came from which is generally the Caribbean.

I would think it may be a lot different if there was an influx to more homogeneous regions like the Midwest but big multicultural cities people assimilate pretty easily.

Depends where you are.

For the US, a strong majority of the migrants coming in are young men. For example, in 2020, the US border patrol apprehended more than 4 times as many men as women making illegal crossings. And it’s likely very few single young women making the crossing— at least some of the ones crossing are married and coming in with their husband and kids. Men are just more likely to migrate like this.

So mass immigration is unlikely to make dating easier for the young men who already live in the US.

But it’s plausible the gender imbalance due to migration may be easier on men elsewhere, sure.

My husband is from Egypt and he is the most respectful, kind, and attentive man I've ever met. He's one of the most intelligent and hardest working. He's a petroleum engineer with a PhD and a Fulbright scholar.

His family is traditional conservative Muslim. They weren't very happy about the idea at first but after I went to Egypt and met them, the really love me. They are so happy he found someone that makes him happy and takes care of him.

My family are conservative farmers from the Midwest. I wasn't sure what my dad would about my bringing home a Muslim man but he absolutely loves him. Do does the rest of my family.

Our cultures are extremely different in many ways, but is reality they are very similar. His family runs a dairy and makes cheese so we have the farming thing in common and had very similar child hoods. We have a lot of shared interests which brought us together and we have just built such a deep connection over the years.

Plus genetically it's a good thing to mix up the genes and get different traits.

Take France and Italy: Both are Neighboring nations so as close as it gets and yet they do not even face mass migrations from the same countries. Naturally the immigrants going to France (Algerians and Moroccans) behave differently to the ones headed to Italy (Nigerians, Ghanaians, and Turks)

The example above isn’t even the most complicated; ‘Western Nations’ (Im assuming is in reference to Countries that adopted the U.S. Modern style of living) are wildly different. Take Germany and Korea both have extremely similar nation development strategies Post WWII and are both suffering from similar fallout to the désindustrialisation process and yet have 2 extremely opposite solutions involving immigration.

It will probably make dating much easier for minorities born in western societies. Since those places in North America and Europe will no longer be as overwhelmingly white, if you're a person of color from those continents, you have a better chance in the dating world than before, back then there were just less people of color so you had less options.

That will be really interesting to observe in my country since we are at the beginning of immigration wave. But in here there is no naturalization - immigration model is closer to UAE, that is bringing temporary workers to do some work and then sending them back to home countries so most likely such things like dating market won't be impacted.

It could be somewhat helpful for those who are slightly strange/socially inept because they can hide behind cultural differences. If you’re a complete loser in your home country though- broke, obese, poor hygiene, no friends- I wouldn’t expect much to change. Many of the countries that people tend to immigrate to the US from have much higher beauty standards and wanting an attractive partner is a pretty universal experience.

I live in an area that's extremely diverse, and pretty much everyone I've ever been involved with was from a different ethnicity than me. I never saw it as that unusual, though there's no question that a relationship between people from vastly different backgrounds does pose some challenges when it comes to things like family, religion, and culture. These things are by no means insurmountable, but it would probably result in a slightly higher rate of relationships not working out.

That said, seeing mixed relationships has always kind of made me happy, because it's nice to think that people from different backgrounds can overcome their differences.

I live in one of the most diverse cities in the world so there have always been many immigrants here. I immigrated with my family when I was a young child. From what I noticed, most people still stick to dating within their cultures. Even my friends who were born and raised here are dating within their culture. I know a few interracial and intercultural couples but not as many as I'd expect in a multicultural city. The couples that I do know all seem very accepting of their partner's culture and are willing to learn about it.

Intercultural dating can be tough for a lot of people and I think a lot of people still date within their culture for comfort. It's much simpler when your family is accepting of your relationship and you share a culture together. I tried dating outside of my culture and found that I wasn't open-minded enough for the major differences and obstacles that come with it. My bf and I come from very similar cultures and it's just nice to be on the same page and have similar values.

California's been a melting pot for as long as I can remember. I'm white/asian mixed and I've been with primarily white men, and it hasn't been the best. My parents are very old school, my dad italian catholic from the east coast and my mom just korean. Mom always said "find a man like daddy" and the white guys out here aren't like my dad. Not very good manners, poor dating behaviors, boys seemingly unable to show that they can provide throughout the relationship, and the dreaded Christianity but only referencing it to suit their needs in the moment, or when convenient. Ie during an argument "in the bible it says men are the head of the household and women facilitate the faith", but are like shitty people in other aspects of their life.

When I was younger I thought about dating Hispanic men, but Hispanic women told me that Hispanic men are toxic and into macho culture-- they cheat a lot. I was like oh..ok. Well, I can turn around and say that white men are insecure and cheap bastards lol. I don't think that'll deter women who are obsessed with white men, though. I chatted with a 2nd gen Salvadorian guy and he's all for providing, his woman's income is of no concern to him, as in his culture it's the man's job to be a man. I applauded him, that's what's up. My now bf is 2nd gen Mexican and he is the sweetest guy ever, he treats me very well, and kind of let's me lead, he doesn't rain on my parade. Isn't a Christian (thank the lord ironically), and is a fun person. I've got a bit of a spicy, strong personality and he dons me with the "yes ma'ams" when I say something, I love that. My experience dating white American guys, whose ancestors came here in the 17 to 1800's, they're super argumentative and seem to struggle with women like me, like they expect me to be submissive to them. Some men seem to think toxic ass arguments, fights, yelling, screaming, and bad words will get a woman to submit.

I dunno. I really enjoy my Mexican bf and I really enjoy us both being from "old cultures", our families cultures being similar to eachother. This is the ideal.
