Okay so I can see fallacies and whimsical logic but why disagree with what he's saying? I know his hate for trp isn't really based on much but doesn't what he say warrant some appreciation? If people are in a loving relationship shouldn't they communicate rather than partake in psychological one-upmanship? If people aren't willing to change for one another then they shouldn't be in a relationship with one another. At least that's how I see it...

This isn't so much a rant as it is a genuine question. I'm interested in hearing your opinions.

[–]Bronotrelevant 65 points66 points67 points 12 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

He is mixing hooking up with relationships. Then uses extreme cases of abusive relationships as examples to argue against TRP. There is no "manipulation" because from the get go both parties know how their relationship will work, a fwb, LTR, whatever. The whole analogy of using women to fuck and clean is ridiculous because first it victimizes women and paints them as weak, fragile, powerless beings when in reality they have the power to leave the relationship but choose to stay. OP basically covered up an abusive relationship and painted it as TRP.

[–]Samantha_Simpson 20 points20 points20 points 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

He is mixing hooking up with relationships.

This is the crux of the matter right here. The strategies for short-term flings and long-term relationships are very different, and most of the stuff here is for men who aren't interested in LTRs.

Another comment about the notion that TRP perpetuates abusive relationships: being abusive to a long-term partner is the complete opposite of what is advocated here. How do I know this? Because I have personally witnessed a real abusive relationship within my own family. I won't name any names, but the man in that relationship never took responsibility for his mistakes. He frequently made brash decisions that affected his immediate family without consulting his wife, and when she confronted him he refused to admit he had done anything wrong. Instead, he blamed others, including her, for his own faults.

Again, this is completely the opposite of a lot of what I've read here. TRP's outlook is not about complaining about others and trying to change the world to fit one's needs (even though this is the sentiment that some posts here do give off, especially among the newer members). It's accepting how things already are and working on themselves in order to be attractive to a partner (either short term or long-term), not shirking personal responsibility.

[–]dixiedownunder3 points 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Anybody who doesn't have a sexual strategy is not going to get laid. Strategy is a pretty general term. Healthy humans have always had a strategy. What an ignorant fuck.

*choose a highly controversial subreddit (one with a plethora of haters to boot)

*climb moral soapbox

*pontificate with a message that will resonate with said haters

*sprinkle liberally with reassuring logical fallacies

*take care to avoid coarse language so as to retain credibility

*gold, bestof, and profit

Sounds like Reddit 101. Nothing special whatsoever.

Many of you have eloquently expressed counterpoints to the OP.

Carry on.

I completely agree and that's what TRP is in a nutshell. It's about taking responsibility and working on yourself to become an attractive person, not sitting around waiting for "the one".

I can see why the post looks so ridiculous in those terms. I think he started with an initial misunderstanding of trp and wrote about abusive relationships. Although I think what he says does have relevance to more relationships than most would like to think. I have witnessed friends in relationships where they clearly love one another but both of them may at times give in to emotional bouts. It's in these situations where communication is key. Everyone had their flaws and if you are not willing to deal with them in a communicative or even mutual (in some way) manner. Then occasional flaws may become habit and lead to something worse. From both sides of the relationship. Appreciate the reply!

[–]Bronotrelevant 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

One of the key points of TRP is that you let a girl know of your intentions from the very beginning. If she doesn't agree its fine move on. Again apples to oranges hooking up and relationships are two different things with different set of rules.

[–] QQ_L2P 4 points 5 points 6 points 12 years ago   (1 child) | Copy Link

So what you're saying is is that women in these relationships have all the available information but go against the logical course of action (and follow their emotions) because why, they're retarded?

She's a big girl, she can make her own decisions. She doesn't need you to rant at guys on the internet because it hurt your sensibilities. The relationship describes on EMSK is not RP, it's emotionally abusive, which isn't what RP teaches at all.

You're right, a relationship does require two partners, because the both fulfill roles the other cannot. It's the definition of a partnership. Otherwise, I'd clone myself, whack in a vagina and go to town.

[–] TheSKSpecial 2 points 3 points 4 points 12 years ago   (0 children) | Copy Link

You realize you're making the assumption that women have no cognitive ability when you present this argument, right? You're saying that women have no ability to think for themselves when you presume that any woman in an RP relationship is staying because she has no other choice, when we're saying clear as day that she has all the opportunity in the world to leave if she sees fit.

There is an element of fanaticism and extremism going on though. You have the real RP'ers, long time advocates, successful, good, honest, confident men. They are the Brad Pitt's, teaching monkeys (using the film analogy here, not being rude) who in turn teach 'new recruits'. The message is being skewed by some of these monkeys.

I was in ASK TRP earlier. Men on there were replying to this dudes post about him worrying that his girl had slept with 6 men, saying stuff like she should be dumped, plated, etc. This was AFTER he had already told them what an awesome girlfriend she was.

You can't tell me the message is being screwed up somewhere, and these monkeys are teaching (often younger) guys some pretty bad stuff.

You are either being manipulated or you are doing the manipulation.

There is no "consensus" in a LTR; there is a leader and a follower in a good relationship. In a bad one there is a leader and a usurper always trying to show up the other person.

In TRP we manipulate women to have sex with us. The other kind of manipulation is what women do- i.e. deny sex and withhold in order to get what they want (or think they want). Which is more cruel?

The core of TRP understanding is that women are sexually attracted to leaders of men. If you want more sex you need to become more of a leader. Only in a world rife with misandry could this get characterized as 'abusive.' The women of Red Pill men get fucked the way they have always wanted and so do the men. They get Loooove. All we require is R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

Of course THAT is what they can't stand. Men actually demanding and getting respect from women. The horrors! The Misogyny!

I never said that it does. I think that that is what the author of the discussed post is saying and is confused as to the nature of trp or maybe doesn't accept that its a small community and that some posts may not summarise the community's view.

I'm aware that my 'people should change' statement was ambiguous but it is that way for a reason. It depends on the circumstance.

I understand the flaws in the post but agree with the general sentiment. Sure, some women that you get into a relationship may have a behavioural characteristic which is harmful and can be nulled by an objective approach which appeals to their psyche. I think its important to stay aware. Aware of the situations where this is okay or not okay. If its just for something that annoys you or is done in a way which makes the other person feel horrible then it probably isn't okay. Communication is key throughout a relationship though and things that you want to change in the other person should be communicated. As to your question of what should change it will be different for each person what they feel they need to or want to change.

What do you feel is the main sentiment of the discussed post and do you disagree that change is necessary in a relationship? What aspects of appealing to somebody's psyche rather than mere communication would you agree or disagree with? Do you feel I have misunderstood you OP on some way and if so how?

Thanks for any reply.

I'm aware that the author misunderstand trp but

I think that that is what the author of the discussed post is saying and is confused as to the nature of trp or maybe doesn't accept that its a small community and that some posts may not summarise the community's view.

Can you blame him?

trp is supposed to be about making yourself a better person so as to ultimately make you more sexually attractive. Yet a quick look on the front page of /r/theredpill right now shows:

  1. "Women in the workforce are a net zero" - Cod science with little to back it up.
  2. "The institution of marriage is fucked, brah" - An anti-marriage circle jerk.
  3. "Games people play: Rapo, false rape accusations" - a "let's understand what people do" post, but with an inflammatory title.
  4. "I need to stop smoking weed" - finally, a self-improvement post!
  5. "Former homosexual / present bisexual (somewhat asexual); autistic... just looking for some perspective." - a "look at me" circle jerk
  6. "What's the point?" - an anti-LTR circle jerk
  7. "Do you ever feel guilty not following the domesticated life plan?" - an anti-LTR circle jerk.
  8. "Games People Play, The Psychology Of Human Relationships -Essential Reading" - A "let's try to understand people better"-post.
  9. "Teenage hook-up sex leaves feminism behind" - an "others think similarly"-type circle jerk.

That's just the bottom 9 items on the page. Of those 9, two have inflammatory titles, five are blatant circle jerks, one - yes, just one - is a simple "Help me improve myself" post.

To me, that doesn't tell the world that trp is about understanding how people work and making yourself a better person so as to get more out of life. It tells the world that trp is a big anti-relationship circle jerk.

If people are in a loving relationship shouldn't they communicate rather than partake in psychological one-upmanship?

Ah, the good old "communication". When I was inexperienced, I always thought that concept was bizarre, because as a man, I would always say what I was thinking, what I wanted and how I was feeling. Turns out that what women say they want is also what they hate. Even a red pill girlfriend will subconsciously wait for her man to figure out what she wants. The most miserable couples are the ones who "communicate" a lot, while the happiest are those that understand each other through all the other, non-verbal channels. That's also communication, just not what people have in mind. If you think it's a matter of "psychological one-upmanship", you really have not understood the fundamentals of male-female interactions.

If people aren't willing to change for one another then they shouldn't be in a relationship with one another.

Another very modern idea that you would hope would disappear from this board. What does "change" even mean? Men routinely change for their girlfriends, reduce the time spent on hobbies and going out with friends, become more caring, more attentive... and then they get dumped. A man who changes for his woman will not be respected, he has to do it for himself. And the changes that do work (both for men and women) are overall improvements that are desirable by all member of the opposite sex, not just this one person.

Your questions are completely gender-neutral, which should be your first hint that they are missing a big part of the picture. Men and women behave very differently, especially when it comes to love. Seeking to understand that is not preparing for war, it's laying the foundations for peace.

Thanks for your reply. Gives me stuff to think about...

[–]Endorsed Contributorzyk0s 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I may have been a bit harsh, I assumed you were well acquainted with RP ideas. I realize that may not be so, especially if we're having an influx of new visitors from that thread. If you're new or relatively new, I should perhaps have been more detailed.

The key question to always ask is "which gender is it applicable to"? If the answer is "both", you need to find the reason why, and that reason has to be more than just about ideological principles of equality between the sexes. From that point, you should realize that almost everything being said and written on the topic of relationships comes from the female perspective, for a female audience. It is also often phrased specifically to make everyone feel good, but as a man, you job is to seek out what works, and the two are not always the same.

So if you are new here, keep those things in mind while you read more about this stuff. Your analytic mind is your best tool, soon, it will all make sense.

If you're looking for a scientific study, you've come to the wrong place. We've all met a lot of people, a lot of couples, we've seen them interact and we've heard them speak. I'm saying that from my experience, when the couple says they "our relationship is great, there's a lot of communication between us", it a) is usually voiced by the woman, the man parrots it but less often and often unconvincingly, and b) the relationship gets dissolved soon after. Also from experience, the happiest and longest-lasting couples are the ones who do not talk, but read each other's non-verbal language. I challenge you to say that your experience is the opposite.

You completely missed the point about the modern view about what it means to communicate, how nonverbal communication is communication still and how I was not talking about fuck buddies. Try reading what I wrote again.

[–]blubblah 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

It has been proven only 10% of communixation is verbal. The other 90% is non verbal. So I guess that could be seen as proof for nonverbal being more important....(non verbal means no words in this case, email is also verbal)

Si vis pacem, para bellum, I know. My point is that everyone thinks TRP principles are psychological warfare tactics, except those who actually apply them successfully.

[–] Endorsed Contributor Overkillengine 1 point 2 points 3 points 12 years ago   (1 child) | Copy Link

When used ethically, they are usually psychological defense tactics to help filter out or discourage toxic behavior from others.

But to defend, you must understand how to attack.

Okay so I can see fallacies and whimsical logic but why disagree with what he's saying?

because what he is saying:

You need to talk to them. If they're doing something that hurts you, you need to tell them. And not "I wish you would quit that." Tell them "This hurts me when you do that." If they care about you, they'll take action to prevent causing you pain.

won't work

Go talk you gf/wife out of her crush on an alpha male. See how that goes.

[–]Adach 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

If I were in a long term relationship, I would demand that there be loving mutual appreciation that didn't require us to be constantly playing some psychological game. That being said I know my role in that relationship, and though I would hope to be able to intimately show vulnerability to my S.O., if all I did was show vulnerability I would come across as weak.

If I during the course of our relationship became an out of shape, pushover, lazy, weak slob I would be surprised if my SO wasn't considering leaving me.

I don't see that being an issue however, if you as a male live your life according to trp philosophy (and it's not exclusive to trp, it's just generally good life habits!), stay in shape, live a passionate, happy, life with purpose, don't chase women or put them on a pedestal... etc. then I don't need to threaten my S.O. with mind games, she knows I am a desirable male that is as capable on my own as I am with her, and then her own psychology kicks in there.

I think you'll find a lot of redpillers really are 1-girl guys. A plate is really just a fuckbuddy whose sexual promiscuity makes her an unwise ltr partner.

[–]EternallyAnon -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Thanks for your post and I agree. I think I maybe jumped to the conclusion that the OP disagreed with the general sentiment of the post.

[–]Adach 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

no i don't think so, some others mentioned that beyond TRP witchhunt there's some good stuff in that post

[–]colovick 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The flaw in the post that presumably brought you here is that it only demonstrates a surface level understanding of the material and is largely based on a misconception. This is, however, much more informed than most of our detractors. The first flaw is in the idea that we advocate psychological one-upmanship. We advocate being the Capitan of your ship and having your partner be the first mate. The first mate has input and expectations and leads in certain areas, but if they try to mutiny, they're thrown overboard until they sufficiently correct their mistake or until you replace them.

The second mistake is in the assumption that this is emotional abuse. Humans thrive in arbitrary boundaries. This is a psychological fact. There is a metric ton of data showing that children need structure, schedules, rules, and consequences. The same applies to employees in a business and citizens in a country. Depending on someone is a wonderful feeling releasing your cares as long as they can provide a solid showing of security in that role. You don't realize how fragile a business is until your boys comes in in October saying the company had a bad year and not only won't have a Christmas bonus, but might have layoffs if things don't improve... Notice how that feeling of jumping ship creeps into your mind?

Without these two points, that giant wall of text is condensed into an anecdote of a guy being awesome and how it's wrong.

[–]FortunateBum 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He assumes that the mainstream sexual strategy (dating, marriage, etc.) is not a strategy but natural in some way. Which is retarded.

He also assumes that to have a successful relationship, you don't need to do anything. You only need to happen to meet the perfect person. A soul mate. Which is retarded.

He also assumes that what's discussed on TRP is "manipulation" which I don't think is true, at least debatable. Define manipulation. It's not that easy. Generally, people define manipulation as behavior that hurts them and persuasion as behavior that benefits them. But they're the same behavior. Anytime anyone uses the word "manipulation" it's pretty much a given that they're full of shit. (Aside: same with the word "selfish". Everyone is selfish all the time, no exceptions.)

He also discusses "abuse". Like manipulation, this can be anything and is generally "empowerment" when women do it and "abuse" when men do it. But it's the same behavior.

He is completely blue pill. He thinks that all he has to do is meet the right person and his perfect family will materialize. He thinks women and men want the exact same things in relationships.

These are all completely erroneous assumptions and if you are a true believer of them (not simply pretending to believe them to survive in our society) then you will be fucked over a million ways.

Do whatever you want, but let me know how treating all women like princesses works out for you.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In my opinion, and experience when you show women weaknesses or negative emotions it destroys their attraction to you in some way.

Women often profess to want an emotional connection with their man but what many have found is that they actually want stability from their man, Someone who can ground them no matter what is happening in their life and provide stability and love.

It's not that men aren't allowed to have emotions with women in their lives, It's more that if you want to have a woman attracted to you, You have to develop yourself enough as a man to gain control over your own emotions, your happiness and be able to manage these things without needing validation or coddling from your woman. For the second time in this thread I would heavily recommend you read The way of the superior man by David Deida for more on this.

I've been on this subreddit for a while now, long enough to say that yes, there are definitely extreme ends of TRP that I personally don't agree with, however, I believe TRP has expanded to much more than "A discussion of sexual strategy in a culture increasingly lacking a positive identity for men." I think that it further spans the identity of a man himself, who he is, what makes him feel good about himself, what he can do to improve himself. When this sub started, it was about sexual identity. Most, if not all posts were about the subject. But now, its not about sex, its not about relationships, its about YOU and what makes YOU happy. Yes, sex is involved in that but more and more posts are about happiness and satisfaction out of life from within. Now, I haven't ever read a post where people complained about lifting, reading, learning, and having some new found self respect, but I have read about the positive effects those actions have on the lives of the people who actually put some effort in and made a change towards that.

Like earlier posts said, you even mention the words "red pill," and you will be hit with a shit storm of hate and apprehension. However, if you merely lay out the concepts, that you are a person, that your life isn't dependent on another person's happiness, that your own happiness comes from within, that you should have respect for yourself and that you stand by your values instead of giving in to someone else's, that is something that people can agree with.

TRP is more than sexual strategy and people have to see that. It's about self improvement, happiness, being content, instead of being walked on. Upvote me or down vote me into oblivion, either people will wake up and listen, or they'll still keep living the disney romance dream and will wait on hand and foot for a woman and believe in true love. Well, just like hate, anger, happiness, fear, etc, its a feeling. You don't have too long to live on this planet so either you get what you want and live the life you want, or you can sit around and let it pass you by.

This whole shitstorm led me to check this subreddit out for the first time. In the No. 2 post (right after this one), OP cheerfully shares how much success he has had with TRP treatment. In his words: "Treat her like a child."

If she acts like a child and throws temper tantrums like a child, you treat her like a child.

That simple.

[–]SeriousJack -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If she acts like a child and throws temper like a child, you ask yourself why you started dating an 18 years old girl in the first place.

If on the other hand he said "I tried treating women like children, and got laid every day of the week!", would I be right in coming to the same conclusion as I did in the first case?

[–]3rdweal 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

The core mantra of improving yourself is exactly that.

If a woman you find attractive rejects you, no one on this sub is going to suggest buying a van, duct tape and industrial grade chloroform. One is rather invited to examine oneself and attempt to become more desirable through the improvement of mental and physical well-being. The way I see it, both parties win.

I would also say it is hardly fair to chastise men for recognizing the ability to be emotionally manipulative when no similar vitriol is reserved for the women who have perfected the art in arguably much greater numbers.

[–]3rdweal 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

That's a great manifesto, and the world would be a better place if everyone would live by it. However, human nature being what it is, that's not going to happen in our lifetimes. Since avoiding manipulating/being manipulated completely would involve removing yourself from all human interaction, this is not an option for most people.

Is it wrong to convey to men that they should recognize when they are being manipulated and turn the tables?

Responding to mind games ≠ emotional abuse.

It seems to be a virtually universal experience amongst men, and certainly a personal one, that catering to a woman's every whim is a sure way of making yourself less attractive in her eyes. If one wanted to be attractive to women is one not justified in recognizing the traits and behavior that work and adopting them?

Flip the argument for women, are you prepared to tell women to stop wearing makeup and getting their hair done because they are visually manipulating men, even though this makes them more attractive?

Working out means you are actually fit and healthy. Make up gives the illusion of traits you do not actually possess, by covering up unhealthy skin for example. I guess the male equivalent would be renting a Lamborghini and pretending that you owned it.

the other side is trying to change someone else.

If you think women don't use emotional manipulation to change men, then you are either naive or willfully blind.

Da fuq? How about...treat her like a human who is the age she is?

[+]AngraMainyuu -6 points-5 points-4 points 12 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I agree with your sentiment, however pretty much every woman I know has thrown a fit over something and its usually pretty irrational and petty. That's where the whole "treat her like a child" comes in. Its not that she isn't an adult, its that you can't count on women to consistently behave like an adult. There's a time and place for everything, and unfortunately "treat her like a child" has escaped its time and place and become something of a slogan around here.

[–]codeverity 10 points11 points12 points 12 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

This is silly. I've known men who have punched walls, sulked, yelled, stalked off, etc, etc. By that token according to you, I should blanket all men with the treatment of children.

The generalisation shit is why this sub has a bad reputation. There are people who throw fits in both genders, women are not magically more childish than men.

[–]I_like_to_debate -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

In those situations you should handle him as you would a child I.e. don't react, explain why his behaviour isn't acceptable, communicate what behaviour you do want and encourage positive behaviour. Call it what you want, but it works for both genders.

[–]codeverity 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have no problem with the idea in theory, or in specific situations. But what a lot of men on this sub do is extrapolate that to how they approach women in general, and that's the problem. "Treat her like a child" is a blanket term and that's why people have a problem with it.

i didn't make a generalization, dude. I cited specific circumstances. That's not blanket, that's specific. Like I said, time and place. Further this sub just isn't dedicated to "how to handle men when they get angry" That's beyond the scope of TRP.

[+]Endorsed Contributorleftajar -6 points-5 points-4 points 12 years ago (27 children) | Copy Link

What we do here, is put aside judgment and morality and focus on what works.

When you see advice like "treat her like a child," it's because thousands of men tested that advice in the real world, and found out that it works.

If you don't like that, blame the women who respond to it (which seems to be almost all of them.)

[–]REDDIT_JUDGE_REFEREE 19 points20 points21 points 12 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link

So you're literally saying that it's alright to treat people like lesser human beings because it gets you something that you want. And you think that it's ok because, hey, it works.

If you agree with this, than alright, there's nothing more to talk about.

[–]3rdweal 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Many women recognize that stringing a man along with the prospect of sex is a way to obtain the time, assets and labor of that man. Is this not exactly treating a person as a lesser human being because it gets you something you want?

Since this attitude is so pervasive, it's clear that a large subset of women believe this attitude to be ok, because hey, it works.

I'm not saying that two wrongs make a right, but you have no platform to attack one side of the argument without fully addressing the other.

[–]Johnny_Shades -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

Girls are usually more emotional than men while men are usually more logical. There are 3 parts of your ego. Child, Adult, and Parent. You're child comes from growing up and is your emotional ego. Adult is logic based thinking. Lastly, Parent is based on how your parents raised you, and it is emotional and usually logical as well. Women often reside in the Child way of thinking.

Don't confuse this for being "childish" or immature. It just means that they act with what they learned as a kid and usually responding to them as an Adult or Parent works well. If you think this is all bullshit, read Games People Play. It's one of the top books in psychology and is written by a professor of psychology.

[–]noscoe-2 points 12 years ago [recovered] (12 children) | Copy Link

Everything you said is dripping with judgement for women.

Painting a false dichotomy of "logical" vs "emotional" is just setting yourself up to seem superior. This whole sub is based on emotion, what do you think sexual desire is? Sex hormones pumping through your veins isn't exactly influencing logical decisions.

There are 3 parts of your ego.

According to one dude's highly unscientific and untestable ideas. I'm no expert on Berne, but he appears to have a heavy Freudian influence-- and his ideas are more geared towards effective group therapy for clinicians, rather than truths about who we are as people.

one of the top books in psychology

Popularity in the general public and scientific rigor shouldn't be confused. "The Secret" is hugely popular, doesn't make it a top book in psychology.

written by a professor of psychology

There's lots of these in the world, and many of them have theories on the ego. The problem with theories like this is that they suffer from a lot of the problems older generation "psychology" suffered from-- they aren't really scientific ideas. Science has to be testable. Testing what the constituents of the ego are is an incredibly difficult task, namely trying to interpret relevant experiments is hugely subjective (meaning many people could look at the same data and all arrive at wildly different and equally valid conclusions).

[–]Johnny_Shades 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

When top professors of psychology widely accept this book I think that's enough evidence to conclude it's valid. The thing with psychology, is that you can say that it can't be tested to any argument. Psychopathy results from abuse as a child? NAH CAN'T TEST IT BRAH.

If you've ever read the book you'd see that it makes sense. It spells out the logic behind every argument. The reason people act the way they do, how they do it, and what they grasp from it.

You say that logic vs emotional is just setting myself up to seem superior? It's a fact of life. You can either remain calm and use logic, or yell and get emotional. Most of the content in this sub is based on logic and tactics to achieve something. Not complaining and bitching about it. Besides, this sub isn't driven by sex. Most of it is about self- improvement with the added bonus of more sex.

[–]noscoe2 points 12 years ago [recovered] (10 children) | Copy Link

I don't know where you are getting the idea that his ideas about the ego are widely accepted, because they are not. And again, thinking that his approach to *clinical group therapy is valuable is very different than the way you are applying his ideas.

Psychology is a science, science is testable and repeatable. The type of psychology you are referring to is outdated and really, not a science (as hinted in my comment about the Freudian influence). Saying all of psychology is untestable is simply ignorant. I recommend you pursue some education in the subject, as it seems you are very interested in it. Stats and methods in psychology is a good starting point for this subject, although any research methods course would explore this topic comprehensively.

And you can test what you mentioned pretty easily. Sample of adults with psychopathy (scored by established, researched testing, not binary), look at rates of child abuse (again scored by established, researched testing, not binary) versus general population rates of child abuse. Control for factors which could cause both psychopathy and expose a kid to higher rates of child abuse, etc. Pretty much score for abuse vs score for psychopathy said simply. Here's a paper I found in 10 seconds of research http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24371511. Not the biggest sample size, or exactly what I mentioned, but very close.

And as far as the logical vs emotional, that's really just not how our brains work. Decision making is emotional. This entire sub IS based of sex, or at least emotional judgement of genders.

If it was logical, you wouldn't be prescribing to untestable theories from the 1960s. You resonated with his theories, which is great if they work for you! But it's emotional, not logical to follow theories about the ego which cannot be proven or disproven.

[–] Johnny_Shades -1 points 0 points 1 point 12 years ago   (9 children) | Copy Link

My point is that you are specifically fighting whatever I argue about. Let's say you disagreed with the child abuse causing psychopathy argument, you would say "its a correlation, not causation! Many more factors are at play" when they turned out to be psychopaths.

The book has been revised, what, 14 times? The most recent one being in 2011. We'll likely never agree on this because we both look to different theories to explain how the brain works.

[–]noscoe1 point 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

My point is that you are specifically fighting whatever I argue about. Let's say you disagreed with the child abuse causing psychopathy argument, you would say "its a correlation, not causation! Many more factors are at play" when they turned out to be psychopaths."

You really have no grasp of the scientific method or statistics. I don't mean this in a rude way, but you are just repeating things you have heard. Dismissing science like this is just ignorant. It's clear that you are pretty unable to admit you're wrong. Covariants are controlled for, it isn't as simple as just seeing if people who were abused turned out that way.

Again, you are looking to theories which are not scientific. It's fine to follow them, and it's fine for you not to agree-- doesn't make you right. It's like creationism, you can't prove or disprove it. If you believe in it and you are happier or function better believing in it, good for you. But it's not science.

I was just giving an example with the correlation of how someone would fight it. And yes I know what the scientific method is and how statistics work. What if women respond positively to being treated like a child...?

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't think it's that you believe they are lesser human beings, does a parent love their child less than their spouse?

It's about understanding their frame of mind and knowing why their emotions are sometimes different from yours or why they get into bad moods and how to get them out of these moods. A great book on this subject Is the way of the superior man by David Deida, It's widely accepted and the author of chicken soup for the womans soul commented that she has never felt more validated as a woman than after reading it.

As a personal anecdote, I work in a customer service job where I see a lot of people get very angry and upset about very petty issues, this stresses me because I think adult human beings should be able to resolve these things rationally without becoming aggressive. I've begun trying to view the customers as cats who are looking for a treat or need something from me rather than emotionally mature human beings. This way I am not confronted with wondering why they are behaving the way they do, I simply respond to their need and feel better for having helped them. Of course I'm aware they're all human beings, but when I view them a little differently it allows me to get a better outcome from the situation and feel no resentment towards them.

Tl;dr: it's not that women are lesser human beings than men, That's not it at all, It's about adopting a frame of mind that allows you to understand them.

The argument that is being discussed here is not "treat people who are acting childishly like they are children", it is "treat women like children". There is a huge difference. One is specific to a situation and behaviour, the other is infantilising a huge swath of the population.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There is a huge difference.

the sub is about sexual strategy for heterosexual men, so OBVIOUSLY it will say "treat women (who behave like children) like children" and not men/ or people, as thats irrelevant.

[–]AgeJ-3 points 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

That's the precise problem, your partner/girlfriend/boyfriend/lover is NOT a customer, and therefore you can't equal them. There's no transaction of goods or services, and treating them as such is only going to set you up for failure.

You absolutely should not treat people the age they're acting, if you do, how would you expect them to act mature at all? Don't spitefully encourage someone to 'act as a child' just so you can say you could hold up under your own principles, that's taking far more steps back than it would to treat someone as simply as the way you'd want to be treated.

EDIT: wow, good to know that the downvote button is being used correctly here.

You pick and choose what you think is right. That's a little extreme to me but I can definitely see why OP believes that, such as when you make most of the decisions. That has helped me out because I realized my gf is very indecisive. Someone else's may not be, so you have to adjust the concepts and use them however you have to. Even then, it's not about completely making the full decision. If she has to make a decision towards something, I'll either outright tell her what to do or I can give two choices instead of having none available which helps her indecisiveness by putting options on the table.

I notice that u/mytrpaccount pulls this off many times. I have also performed a similar experiment on others I know in real life, specifically those that use reddit. How you present an idea is more important than the idea itself.

Edit: This logical fallacy is an ad hominem known as "poisoning the well". Evidence of this is that anytime this subreddit is linked it is in a negative context, e.g the askreddit thread about "what makes you lose faith in your gender?", or something like that.

exactly, the only issue that people will have with this is that they will feel that it is manipulation, when you are simply putting the idea into terms they can understand. so many people make a fuss about an idea that is different, however, they always seem to forget that they have the power to simply ignore the idea and move on with their lives instead of making posts attacking it. Putting the onus for change on men is unfair. It is a perfectly valid to state "Women, do you want men to stop being assholes? Stop sleeping with assholes!".

I understand that this can be seen as unethical if you believe that men and women are fundamentally equal. What this sub does is recognize that men and women are actually different and forms a philosophy accordingly. If women cannot help being attracted to assholes, then all you are doing is observing facts acting on that knowledge.

Would you be prepared to tell women to stop doing all the things they do to improve their aesthetics in order to be more attractive, since they are effectively manipulating men? If you did so, do you honestly believe the response would be anything other than "the end justifies the means"?

[–] [deleted] 1 point 2 points 3 points 12 years ago   (15 children) | Copy Link

Putting the onus for change on men is unfair.

The onus of change is on everybody. Let me explain why (not that I have any hopes of you understanding any of this).

Women, do you want men to stop being assholes? Stop sleeping with assholes!

Let's turn this around on its head, shall we?

You should know, given you're part of this community, that a substantial portion of TRP converts are men who are previously been in the victim in their relationships. They've been subjected to what you call "sexual strategy" and what I call psychological abuse. They come here damaged, broken, devoid of self-confidence and full of self-loathing. They learn to improve themselves, and then following TRP's advice, they turn the whole thing on its head by perpetuating the exact same "sexual strategy" they used to be a victim of onto their future partners, thereby victimizing other people in their stead.

So in other words, these men were attracted to assholes, which subsequently hurt them (because, you know, they're assholes). So why were they attracted to assholes? Maybe they should have stopped chasing after assholes if they wanted women to stop being assholes.

See where this is going?

What you have here is called a self-fulfilling cycle of abuse. Men who are hurt by asshole women turn into assholes themselves and hurt women who then turn into assholes and hurt men who then turn into assholes and hurt women who then............

YOU are part of this cycle. YOU choose to be part of this cycle. Your experiences have led you to believe that the world of gender relations is a war where there is always a winner and a loser, and naturally you have chosen to become a winner. What you completely fail to realize is that the only way to really "win" this game is for both sides to stop fucking playing it.

Which is why the onus of change is on everybody. Not just men. It takes two to break the cycle.

I understand that this can be seen as unethical if you believe that men and women are fundamentally equal. What this sub does is recognize that men and women are actually different and forms a philosophy accordingly.

It's "seen" as unethical because it is unethical.

What you "recognize" is in reality what you are imagining. You choose to manufacture differences that don't exist in an effort to justify psychological abuse as "the way it's supposed to be". It isn't.

The fact that it works is completely inconsequential. Torture "works" too. There is such a thing called Stockholm Syndrome. There are entire organizations dedicated to helping people who have been broken by psychologically abusive relationships, their self-confidence shattered. It's been well documented throughout history and scientific research that psychological abuse/manipulation can change people's behaviors. But the fact that it produces "results" doesn't make it any more ethical.

Whatever, this isn't really going anywhere. I didn't post that album to "discuss" anything with you lunatics. I'm not here to convince you of anything. People like you are too far gone, and I truly feel sorry for the women in your lives. I hope that when you do eventually break them (just as women in your past have broken you), they prove to be the better human beings by taking the hard way out and refusing to perpetuate the cycle of abuse.

I posted that album in the hopes that some people who haven't yet completely lost their souls to this TRP bullshit might be confronted with the true nature of what they're signing up for before they make the final leap.

So go argue with someone else. Or, more likely, go yell into the echo chamber that is TRP, because it's clear that you have zero interest in entertaining any other possibility beyond your insane world view, probably because you're too big of a coward to confront what kind of damage you're doing to people in your life.

[–] 3rdweal 0 points 1 point 2 points 12 years ago   (13 children) | Copy Link

What you completely fail to realize is that the only way to really "win" this game is for both sides to stop fucking playing it.

I don't think you will be hard pressed to find subscribers to this community who desire that this game would not have to be played. However, the belief here is that men and women are hardwired to behave the way they do, beliefs that are validated by day-to-day interactions with the opposite sex. While there will always be a measure of confirmation bias, many people come here having believed the exact opposite all their lives.

Are you prepared to argue for example that female hypergamy doesn't exist, especially in the context of societies where women are able to work and earn more resources that male peers? If it does exist, and it exists independently of nurture, is it wrong for men who for various reasons are not in that top 20% to aspire to do so?

What you "recognize" is in reality what you are imagining. You choose to manufacture differences that don't exist in an effort to justify psychological abuse as "the way it's supposed to be". It isn't.

I'm sorry but this is patently false. It is socially acceptable to segregate male and female sports, because of recognized physiological differences between the genders. Are we going to be so naive to believe that the differences stop there, and make any further discussion a taboo?

People like you are too far gone, and I truly feel sorry for the women in your lives. I hope that when you do eventually break them (just as women in your past have broken you), they prove to be the better human beings by taking the hard way out and refusing to perpetuate the cycle of abuse.

If a woman rejects you, you can either rage with indignation "How dare she reject me?!?!?!", or take a step back and examine yourself to see if you were much of a prize catch to begin with. What I take away from this sub is that the latter option is the most difficult but the most rewarding approach, and the solution is to better yourself. Unfortunately, many men come here seeking to vent the former frame of mind, but that to me is just a passing stage.

I fail to see how seeking to become the sort of man who women desire (though not necessarily explicitly for that purpose) is in any way misogynistic or hateful. I am not here to break anyone. I am here to be a better man.

So go argue with someone else. Or, more likely, go yell into the echo chamber that is TRP, because it's clear that you have zero interest in entertaining any other possibility beyond your insane world view, probably because you're too big of a coward to confront what kind of damage you're doing to people in your life.

This kind of vitriol from strangers on the internet often leads me to believe that some introspection on their part would perhaps not go amiss.

I don't think you will be hard pressed to find subscribers to this community who desire that this game would not have to be played.

It doesn't have to be played. You're choosing to play it.

There isn't exactly a shortage of women out there who feel the same way about this. I'm living with one of them. Millions of men like me are able to find these women, date them and eventually settle down with one that we are intellectually and emotionally compatible with.

If you can't do it, maybe it's time to realize that the problem is you, not women as a whole. Psychologically abusing people into getting in bed with you isn't going to get you partners that you can share your burdens with for life.

However, the belief here is that men and women are hardwired to behave the way they do, beliefs that are validated by day-to-day interactions with the opposite sex.

Confirmation bias out the ass.

My experiences, as well as the experiences of millions of other men (who like me despise what TRP stands for) do not validate your beliefs. They contradict it.

If you want to throw around anecdotal bullshit, I'll sit here and play the numbers game with you all day long. You will find out that you are severely outnumbered in your so-called observations. The statistical odds are that you're seeing what you want to see, not what actually is there to see.

I'm sorry but this is patently false. It is socially acceptable to segregate male and female sports, because of recognized physiological differences between the genders. Are we going to be so naive to believe that the differences stop there, and make any further discussion a taboo?

Differences demonstrably stop there.

In the realm of intellectual achievements, the only thing that has ever kept women behind in history has been institutional patriarchy. As our societies evolved, we have lifted (and still are lifting today) this oppressive burden, and every single time we have seen women reach heights of success that previously only men could attain. Given this obvious history of our species, your world view boils down to nothing more than willful ignorance of reality. And in fact, "willful ignorance of reality" is essentially one of the best phrases that sums up TRP in general.

The simple fact is that you lot don't have the balls to face a new world where men and women interact and form relationships as equals, elevating each other to greater than the sum of the parts of their relationship. You don't have the courage to discover and claim a new role in this evolving society, and you cling to your old one out of desperation, for fear of being left behind.

Psychologically abusing women into conforming to your fucked up view on gender roles and relationship dynamics is not "bettering yourself".

It's more like compensating for shortcomings that you don't have the courage to face at other people's expense. This theme of cowardice is a persistent one in TRP. Your manufactured confidence, boldness and "alpha" status is a facade to hide the unaddressed insecurities that prevent you from forming relationships the same way every other normal, well adjusted human being out there does.

You want to take this as vitriol? That's your prerogative. What it is intended to be is a brutally honest mirror. This is how the rest of the world sees you. This is what the overwhelming majority of men and women out there think about who you are. Nobody would give two shits about what your philosophy is as long as you don't hurt people with it. Unfortunately in your case, those of us who have been in abusive relationships in the past know very well just what kind of a damage you lot can do. And that knowledge is precisely why we're choosing to take a stance against this bullshit, instead of standing by and letting you do your own thing in peace.

[–] 3rdweal 0 points 1 point 2 points 12 years ago   (8 children) | Copy Link

What it is intended to be is a brutally honest mirror. This is how the rest of the world sees you. This is what the overwhelming majority of men and women out there think about who you are.

I acknowledge that my views and those expressed by this community are not popular. I see them as "uncomfortable truths". If they were outright fabrications, they would not attract the flak they do from society at large. If someone calls you fat when you're perfectly fit and healthy, you smirk and keep walking. If you weigh 300 lbs, you will react with the level of indignation that you are demonstrating.

The simple fact is that you lot don't have the balls to face a new world where men and women interact and form relationships as equals, elevating each other to greater than the sum of the parts of their relationship.

You're right, I am not interested in forming relationships with women, because I am skeptical about the utopia you just painted. By implying that it is because I lack the courage or "balls" to do it, you are resorting to an ad hominem shaming tactic that is as sexist as what you are arguing against.

Given this obvious history of our species, your world view boils down to nothing more than willful ignorance of reality.

What you are referring to as "obvious history" does not stand up to scrutiny. Would we have ever heard of Stephanie Kwolek if it wasn't for the entrepreneurial efforts of Éleuthère Irénée du Pont de Nemours? Blaming men for keeping the women down is just a blatant refusal to attribute agency to women - you're saying they never achieved anything because the evil men were keeping them down, and are only doing well now because we're "letting them" - you always had the power my dear, you just had to learn it for yourself! That is as sexist a view of history as the one you are attributing to me.

Unfortunately in your case, those of us who have been in abusive relationships in the past know very well just what kind of a damage you lot can do. And that knowledge is precisely why we're choosing to take a stance against this bullshit, instead of standing by and letting you do your own thing in peace.

This sub is full of men who came here because they were in abusive relationships. By choosing to "take a stance", you are prioritizing the experiences of the woman you imagine they are emotionally torturing over their very real internal torment. This only serves to reinforce their world view. Indeed, extending the Matrix analogy chosen by this sub, "You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it." There is your brutally honest mirror. Feel free to glance at it occasionally.

Okay, you can stop right here. The rest of your post isn't even worth addressing. I'm just going to quote this little snippet here for preservation and leave it at that.

Because your own justification for what constitutes "truth" says more about the merits of your philosophy (or lack thereof) than I can ever hope to convey. Everyone in their right mind can take one look at this shit and make up their mind pretty quickly on whether you're worth being taken seriously.

Where's the anger coming from man?

Does your current partner mention her previous flings with "alphas" a little too often?

[–] [deleted] 0 points 1 point 2 points 12 years ago   (5 children) | Copy Link

Where's the anger coming from man?

It's not anger. It's shocked disbelief at the sight of how stupid some people can really be. Kind of eats away at my inherent optimism. Makes it difficult to assume the best of people in life, ya know?

So thanks for that. \s

Does your current partner mention her previous flings with "alphas" a little too often?

I realize that this might be a bit of a shock to you, but normal people of either gender don't actually define themselves in terms specifically invented total about animal behaviors.

Because, you know, we're supposed to be something a bit more than a wolf pack. We're supposed to have some high level intelligence, self-awareness, consciousness, free will and critical thought skills that should prevail over biological instincts that are irrelevant to our modern existence. Because that's kinda what separates humans from other forms of life in the first place.

Just letting you know: your continued use of these definitions gives you away as something a bit less than human. Not to mention, of course, your implied failure at governing your biological urges flies in the face of the oft-repeated TRP advice about how men shouldn't define their existence by how much sex they get.

[–] 3rdweal 0 points 1 point 2 points 12 years ago   (4 children) | Copy Link

Because, you know, we're supposed to be something a bit more than a wolf pack.

My frustrations with the opposite sex stemmed primarily from my expectation that people were rational beings and applied that rationality across the board. This couldn't be further than the truth. To state that is not TRP philosophy but something that continues to be studied at length in academia.

Reading Thinking fast and slow was an eye-opener for me. For all their high level intelligence and capacity for critical thinking, people will still operate on an instinctive or emotional level in a surprising amount of situations - this coming from a Nobel prize winner, not lunatic fringe science. Note that I am not singling out any particular gender here. Humans are not as brilliant or unique as they like to think they are, their behavior can be observed, recorded and predictions can be made - if it wasn't, psychologists would be out of a job.

If being "normal" means ignoring this and lets you sleep a little better at night, that's fine, but I don't buy it anymore.

[–] [deleted] 0 points 1 point 2 points 12 years ago   (3 children) | Copy Link

My frustrations with the opposite sex stemmed primarily from my expectation that people were rational beings and applied that rationality across the board. This couldn't be further than the truth. To state that is not TRP philosophy but something that continues to be studied at length in academia.

If that is your frustration, then you should be frustrated with people in general. Because men aren't magically immune to being irrational.

People in general try to be rational beings, but they're obviously not rational 100% of the time. And that "people" includes people of both genders, men and women. Realization of this isn't some amazing fucking discovery. It's not a breakthrough. It's common goddamn sense and is not special to TRP in any shape or form.

The really stupid thing about your citation is that Daniel Kahneman didn't get his Nobel prize for "discovering" that people are irrational. He got his Nobel prize by applying this already well-known irrationality to specific economic decisions and formulating a structured behavioral model for economic agents that can take into account irrational decisions in the economy. His prize was a recognition of making significant progress towards eliminating what many consider to be the Achilles heel of economic models -- the error-prone assumption of rationality.

Citing that in this context shows a great deal of ignorance on your part. So in the future, at least bother to read like two paragraphs about the goddamn content matter before you link something, would you?

Worse yet, the very Nobel prize winner that you've cited yourself deliberately makes no gender distinctions himself. Not only him, but the other studies you've cited on irrationality do the same too. Because the field of behavioral science in general understands that this isn't a gender-biased phenomenon. So you're not only proving yourself ignorant, but you're also shooting yourself into the foot with it.

So think about why do you think that this irrationality is somehow gender-biased? Why is your ideology based on the assumption that men are rational and women are not? Why do you condone a philosophy that advocates treating all women like they're immature children, especially if you acknowledge that irrationality is not specific to their sex?

You don't have to answer, because whatever you say is going to be full of the same cognitive dissonance and the same ignorance and the same blatant contradictions that got you where you are today anyway. I'm not really interested. I'm just asking so that you can contemplate it for yourself, hopefully with some honesty in the privacy of your head, without feeling obligated to conform to your TRP "bros" in public.

If being "normal" means ignoring this and lets you sleep a little better at night, that's fine, but I don't buy it anymore.

Being "normal" is having the principles to not throw other people under the bus for your own shortcomings, and having the strength to stick to those principles when it's hardest to do so. It's having the courage to confront the underlying insecurities that cripple your efforts to form relationships based on equality. It's choosing not to resort to displacing your self-loathing onto all women in general, and not to make up for your social deficiencies with psychological abuse of other human beings. It's refusing to perpetuate the same cycle of abuse that you yourself have been a victim of in the past.

Literally every single individual that has ever defended TRP to me has left the impression that they are deeply disturbed, fundamentally broken individuals. You're no exception. So I sincerely hope, not just for your sake but for those around you, that you can put yourselves back together at some point in the future, preferably before you break someone else.

[–] 3rdweal 0 points 1 point 2 points 12 years ago   (2 children) | Copy Link

His prize was a recognition of making significant progress towards eliminating what many consider to be the Achilles heel of economic models -- the error-prone assumption of rationality.

The very assumption you are making with regards to others - you explicitly derided TRP philosophy for not thinking that people had "high level intelligence, self-awareness, consciousness, free will and critical thought skills that should prevail over biological instincts that are irrelevant to our modern existence."

Should, but don't.

So think about why do you think that this irrationality is somehow gender-biased?

I don't - men are just as prone to irrationality as women are.

Why do you condone a philosophy that advocates treating all women like they're immature children, especially if you acknowledge that irrationality is not specific to their sex?

Women who do not wish to be treated like children are free to look down upon men who do so, and walk away horrified at the extent to which their intelligence has been insulted. Why do you think they need you to stand up for them? The latter premise implies you are the one who thinks they are children unable to take care of themselves, now that's cognitive dissonance.

I don't personally resemble any of those remarks. I have female aquaintances but not female friends, and make no attempt to pick up women for casual sex. As I got older the extent to which I had time or tolerance for silly mind games diminished, and I came to the conclusions I did long before I discovered TRP existed. I prefer to focus on myself and my hobbies for fulfillment. There are a good number of subscribers of TRP who delight in playing mind games back, I say good for them. I don't think you should be concerned, no rational woman will fall for this "sexual strategy" bollocks they keep blathering on about.

[–] [deleted] 0 points 1 point 2 points 12 years ago *   (1 child) | Copy Link

There are only two possible conclusions I can derive from this post.

You think that TRP is something that it actually isn't, and when presented with the evidence of what it actually is, you prefer to wallow in willful ignorance of reality because I guess admitting that you're part of a despicable community reflects negatively on you.

You know very well what TRP is actually about, and you support it with that full knowledge, but you don't have the balls to admit your support for some pretty despicable shit in public when confronted directly about it.

Either way, it's no good.

This isn't really going anywhere, so I'm gonna put a stop to it. You're entitled to your opinions of course, but every shred of evidence that is publicly and openly available to everyone contradicts your assertions about this place. I just hope you'll have the courage to face it in the privacy of your head some day.

Have a nice day.

Edit: I'm going to leave you with this post from a long time ago, originally posted in /r/changemyview. It's a woman's perspective of what happens in their head when you "alpha males" play your petty games with them. If you have a shred of empathy left in your soul, it will make you feel like absolute shit for every single time you know in your heart that you've forced a woman into Option #4.

[–] 3rdweal 0 points 1 point 2 points 12 years ago   (0 children) | Copy Link

I would like the genuinely thank you for persisting in this exchange, I'm not here to enjoy the comfort of an echo chamber.

You think that TRP is something that it actually isn't, and when presented with the evidence of what it actually is, you prefer to wallow in willful ignorance of reality because I guess admitting that you're part of a despicable community reflects negatively on you.

I realize now from the link you posted that if this is your perspective of what this sub encourages, to you I must seem like a rape apologist which would explain the vehemence of your responses. Just to clarify, I think it is despicable if a anyone is forced into a sexual situation against their will, and - even though you might see this as "willful ignorance" - do not believe that doing so is a principle espoused by this sub.

I do however, find it extremely hard to empathize with the woman in that situation you linked to. If you had the options listed and chose #4, rejecting options #2 and #3, you are essentially preferring physical violation in order to avoid perceived petty social consequences you have concocted in your head. This to me is the thought process of a neurotic, insane individual that I could not possibly see myself going through.

Someone in the thread tried to elicit empathy by flipping the situation:

How would a gay guy using red pill on you make you feel?

Unwanted advanced would make me uncomfortable, but there is no way I would lay down and take it. If I don't want to be physically violated, then as long as I am not incapacitated I sure as heck won't be, no matter what the crowd at the bar might think.

Imagine hearing this from you partner! "Oh honey, I didn't want to cheat on you, but I was afraid people might gossip about me if I turned down the guy's advances so it was easier to just go with it."

Would you in that situation blame the guy, and excuse your SO from blame?

This is exactly the sort of neurosis I came here to get away from. If you think that women literally can't help themselves, and this sort of behavior is acceptable from an adult, then I'm afraid our views will continue to differ. Women are people, and as people, they have rights and they also have responsibilities. If you think that the woman in this situation is right to think the way she does, then you believe she is a child and deserves to be treated like one.

Not being facetious, I invite you to examine the pedestal you've put women on very closely, the wood is rotten and you don't want to be near it when it collapses.

Hey man, I'm just linking ample evidence that is in blatant contradictions with your assertions.

It's not for your benefit. It's about showing (much better than telling) other vulnerable minds what TRP really is about before they start taking any of your bullshit seriously.

Every subreddit is going to have a mix of extreme to liberal members. The issue with your post is that you simply point out all the extreme posts and are trying to say that that is ALL of what TRP is about, which is simply not true. More importantly, who is to say that people who browse TRP are vulnerable? I believe they have a choice, they can look on this subreddit and either they can look into it more, or they can just close the window. I like to give reddit users more credit than you do and not think they are vulnerable. They have the right to look at any subreddit they want to and you have the right to tell them not to. Just make sure that when you tell them not to, that your evidence is more balanced and not just a display of extreme behavior that is evident on most subreddits, regardless of the topic.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

The album I linked features quite a lot of posts from TRP mods and users that carry the TRP approved flairs. These aren't nobodies. These aren't "extreme" members of a subreddit. They're not fringe elements. They sure as hell aren't in the minority. These people are leaders of the community, and their views are heavily upvoted and endorsed.

But go ahead, continue deluding yourself. I don't really give a shit. My post wasn't for your benefit. It's for everyone else's.

[–]thewrightstuff88 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Suit yourself. Let's see if your opinion of redditors being vulnerable holds true. Time will tell whether your post will make a difference or not...and I'm pretty sure it won't

[–][deleted] -4 points-3 points-2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Might wanna stop putting words in my mouth. Nowhere in my posts did I claim that all redditors are vulnerable. I simply said that my posts are directed to those who are vulnerable to TRP's influence, which really would constitute most subscribers of this place. Those who genuinely believe in the validity of these gender wars are too far gone, but others who are still viewing TRP through rose tinted classes can be shocked into reality by forcing them to confront the insanity that this subreddit really stands for.

[–]thewrightstuff88 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well your mind has definitely been made up here so were just gonna have to agree to disagree. Good luck on your little quest of enlightenment for people you apparently think can't make choices on their own accord. I hope that instead of hating TRP and attacking it, you'll one day see thru all that hate and benefit from what it has to offer.

"psychological abuse"

I assume you are referring to the aspect of TheRedPill members opting out of the Twentieth Century experiment of the homogenization of men and women?

So it is "psychological abuse" whenever a certain culture doesn't get it's way? It is "psychological abuse" to respect gender roles, which are the result of millions of years of evolutionary fine-tuning?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Humans haven't been constrained by natural selection since the advent of modern civilizations and medical care. It's simply not part of our lives anymore. We own the goddamn planet and simple survival is no longer a concern. We have no pressure to breed like rabbits for the continued existence of our species. There are no physical threats from nature in our every day lives that emphasize differences in size and strength between the genders. All these trends that have "fine tuned" our biology in the past are currently meaningless.

Welcome to the post-industrial era. You're only like a few centuries late.

Thanks to the industrial revolution, these natural pressures have instead been replaced with technological ones. Our species evolution predominantly continues in the social and intellectual realm today, and the fitness factors that dominate our existence are all about economic growth and scientific development. This distinct shift in evolutionary pressures is precisely what led to the dismantling of old gender roles in the first place. What previously promoted physical survival started to constrain our technological evolution by keeping half the goddamn population out of the industrial workforce and the political voter-base. What used to be beneficial to our species' existence several millennia ago has since become a significant hazard.

Yes, I'm telling you that the disappearance of old gender roles is an evolutionary advantage. Get your head out of your ass.

The rest of your philosophy essentially boils down to...

"Oh no, how about women being all emotional and irrational and shit, and men being paragons of intelligence and rationality? How do we deal with that? Wah wah wah...."

Oh boo hoo, cry me a river, you poor baby.

There's an immense amount of behavioral science research out there today, some of which utilizing massive sample sizes and diverse age groups, that pretty much conclusively reveals that the intellectual and emotional differences between men and women is statistically insignificant. And worse yet, those statistically insignificant differences they have been able to record goes in the complete opposite direction to the stereotypes you are perpetuating.

In other words, whatever "evolutionary fine-tuning" that you're asserting here is purely in your imagination.

Here's a massive dump of citations for you to review if you have the balls to confront the reality that turns your precious philosophy on its head. Apologies for the poor formatting. It's a copy paste from a text file I keep handy for occasions such as this.

A dinosaur clinging to the structure of an irrelevant past as the society is evolving around you, because you don't have the goddamn balls to venture out into the new world like a real man and find your rightful place in it. So you put together a band of other dinosaurs and hide in the echo chamber of each others' company, pretending like you can delay your inevitable extinction.

And since you missed the point by several miles, let me spell it out for you.

The "psychological abuse" is when you employ lies, deceit and manipulation to form shallow, meaningless relationships that fit your archaic world view, indiscriminately victimizing god knows how many women along the way. As if that's not bad enough already, you then use your "success" to justify why it's okay to abuse, break and then take advantage of other human beings.

Your kind calls that "sexual strategy".

Okay, I'm up for the challenge. For clarity, I'll give each item it's own thread so I can take the time to read and debate each citation. What might seem initially as overwhelming evidence, could be just a collection of cherry-picked dots being forcefully connected, just like some conspiracy videos I've seen, and the studies themselves can be flawed circle-jerks of misinformation between professor and student on college campuses, as they excitedly but unscientifically try to prove a popular agenda. But that could be said about just about any case being made about anything, right or wrong, and so I'll try to be open-minded and dig out the truth.

First up is survival, and this might be the linchpin that causes that whole wall you are clinging to to crumble, and perhaps prompts you to join me on the other side:

|Survival is no longer a concern.

Have you checked current birth rates? Homogenization of the sexes has never worked before in the history of evolution. In fact we spent hundreds of millions of years evolving into different sexes, and so you would have to reverse all of that in order to go back to that state.

Anyone who ever tried it got slated for extinction, and was gradually weeded out of the gene pool. That's what's happening now according to current birth rates, and so eventually, there won't be any more people to promote the homogenization culture because the ones that try to won't be able to survive enough generations to continue passing it along.

Over time those people will slowly be replaced in all levels of the educational community by people from the more fertile cultures that promote traditional obedience to evolutionary gender roles, such as Conservatives, Muslims, and...cough cough...Red Pillians.

Save yourself and me the trouble and don't bother. Having a bazillion inbox notifications from TRP is the last thing I want today, this week, this year...or really, ever. And if the quality of this response is any indication, the rest of it is not going to contain a single shred of empathy, logic or common sense anyway. So I'm just not interested. I'm fed up arguing against a brick wall here. Keep your ignorant ideology. Keep it all to yourself. I'm done posting here. I'm just gonna dump you on ignore and forget about this whole thing.

[–] donit 0 points 1 point 2 points 12 years ago   (3 children) | Copy Link

This will be case -vs- case, not a bazillion inbox notifications of empty arguments like you received from your initial comment. Those guys have already moved on and so it's just you and me.

Unless you're not quite sure of your case and don't feel confident to discuss it on any scientific level.

[–] [deleted] -1 points 0 points 1 point 12 years ago   (2 children) | Copy Link

If your previous response is what you consider "scientific", then I can assure you with a great deal of authority (given my professional career as a research scientist) that you haven't got the slightest clue what "science" actually is.

Please see the references in my post above if you care to enlighten yourself about what properly conducted scientific research has revealed about the differences between men and women. Beyond that, I have zero interest in any input from you in any shape or form. Go bother someone else.

I think your position in the field on top of your BP mentality are fueling your bias.

Not to mention the fact that you're not interested in debate, you're interested in teaching. That career of yours doesn't involve a teaching degree, does it?

[–] donit -1 points 0 points 1 point 12 years ago *   (0 children) | Copy Link

You mentioned people posting their "ignorant ideology". I assume you were deriding anyone who would promote their own ideology, but doesn't feel very secure about it and so they will always cut things off if any logical discussion is presented that doesn't support their case so they can safely stay inside their ideological bubble.

Oh really?

Most of those comments are made by a moderator of this subreddit, and other individuals who proudly wear the "TRP approved" flair. Not to mention, of course, that they're heavily upvoted comments.

If this community genuinely does not endorse such gender views, then put your money where your mouth is and try to strip these individuals from the moderator position and TRP approval titles that you have chosen to grant them.

Again, they're not outlying opinions, nor are they propagated by "nobodies". These people I've referenced are leaders in this community of yours, and their opinions are heavily upvoted and explicitly endorsed. You want to delude yourself into thinking that these guys are in the fringes? That's your problem. Anyone with half a brain is going to disagree.

But let's put that aside for a moment. I'd like to point out that you're posting in a chain of comments where one of the most upvoted "discussions" is about how all women should be treated like children. Literally, on this very page. Don't even need to visit the front page of the sub, which I have, and came away with even more horror.

In other words, you're either completely ignorant of your surroundings, or you are aware, but don't have the balls to face what this community is actually about for fear of how that might reflect on you. Either way, shame on you.

This "you don't get it!" argument is really silly. You are collectively being judged based on the viewpoints that you choose to perpetuate literally everywhere you post on reddit. My understanding of your group is what you've chosen to demonstrate. So if there is a miscommunication here, your group is the one at fault and the onus is on you to correct the perception.

Of course, simply crying like a baby about how "Oh, these people are fringes, they're extremes, they don't represent us!" doesn't really cut it when the people in question are moderators and approved TRP posters (proudly wearing the flair) posting massively upvoted comments.

You want to help people understand that the album I posted isn't what TRP is about? Then strip those people of their leadership and influence positions in your group and send a message to the world with your actions, instead of pretending like you've somehow found the meaning of life and nobody gets you because you're oh so edgy and ahead of the curve (or whatever other shit you guys tell yourselves to sleep better at night).

I wanna preface this with saying that I dont really mind if you stay of your opinion, it's yours, but I just couldn't ignore this "sex is life" comment.

I dont have time to get into lengthy discussions about the meaning of life, so let me say it as short as possible - every human being is "hardwired" to do many things. Mainly, every human is "hardwired" to be as contributing to his group as possible (be that group his family, his country, all our race, all life on this planet, etc).

One way of contributing is having children - in fact, life is designed in a way that without offsprings, it slowly withers and dies out. Which is why, like you seem to state in every paragraph, men (and women) are hardwired to have sex. That is, however, not their sole purpuse in life - their purpose, again, is being as useful to their group as possible.

A patriot doesn't go to war to die for his country because he wants sex. A scientist doesn't work endless hours, endless days, weeks and months because they think this will get them laid. Those are but a few examples of people who do what they do to fulfill their actual purpose, and that is doing their best to contribute to their country, or the whole world.

If your greatest contribution to the world is having offsprings, so be it - I wont condemn you for it. But the fact your life is such, doesn't mean "sex is life" for every other person in the world.

[+] asd1100 -6 points -5 points -4 points 12 years ago   (0 children) | Copy Link

life= the experience of being alive,

your motivations are your own, but those are originated in power, pretsige, money, respect

sex is as fundamental to the human condition as talking, or raising children, the difference is that due to our cognitive abilities we came up with theories of "how to human" that even contradict our biological fundamentals, but I assure you that to live "completely" you need those fundamentals, at the end of the day, words, ambitions, and other high level acomplishments are just offerings to a false profet, your ego, while your real innner god "biology", remains ignored.

[–]thewrightstuff88 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Like I said before, you should pick and choose within TRP what you feel is right. There are extremes and other posts that may be fake, or exaggerated at the very least, but if you happen to take something from here and it impacts your life positively, hasn't it done it's job? In your case, you say that sex is life. That's your opinion. You can go on living life with those words in mind and I won't judge you, I have no right to, but I pick what I want out of TRP and so should you. I believe TRP is more that sex, you may not, but do what makes you happy man.

[–]through_a_ways 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I won't judge you, I have no right to

Actually, being able to judge other people is a fundamentally inherent human right.

Meaning that it's not a legal human right granted by the constitution or legislation, but an inherent one that nobody can take away from you unless they kill you.

[–]thewrightstuff88 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You're right, We can judge anyone, in our thoughts, our words, our actions. That's where TRP comes in...judgment is everywhere, it comes from society, our friends, and family. Either you listen to it and you let it mold you or you stand your ground, keep frame, and hold onto your beliefs. Or you can mix it, either way it's your choice and it's your life. Thanks for that insight.

[–]through_a_ways 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I just hate the "no right to judge people" catchphrase. It makes zero sense, people judge others all the time, even if they try not to.

You're supposed to judge people, otherwise you'd never have any social relationships.

[–]Kardlonoc 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I would be on board with what your saying, but /r/seduction is basically what you are describing. It is now and was when TRP came about. TRP is the extremist form of /r/seduction but now certain people claiming its more moderate and this sort of thing pushes in that direction.

People don't like this moderate thinking and I think that's the main problem here: There is no middle ground. You are a blue pill or a red pill on TRP, and blue bill is an exclusively negative context, a context were TRP subredditors make fun of them instead of saying "I feel bad for that guy".

But really what I want to know from you guys if TRP is more than sexual strategy yet people complained about /r/seduction because its not all sexual strategy and has self improvement...then what exactly is going on here? I feel like a ball is being passed or there is just outright lying happening.

[–]thewrightstuff88 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think perhaps its a sort of evolving of concepts. Honestly, since I found TRP, which was around when it started, I haven't been on r/seduction, and IMO, I always saw posts on r/seduction as being more about techniques, mystery method, neil strauss, etc, rather than self improvement. I think that r/seduction was more about going out and picking up women whereas TRP was trying to look at why a majority of men had to turn to things like pick up techniques instead of having that innate ability like the 20% of men who get the women do. This kind of analysis has lead to a breakdown in the nature of men and women, which is far more intricate than a technique like a neg.

Just as TRP evolves from sexual strategy to the bigger picture (self improvement in all aspects of life), who is to say that other subreddits can't evolve, or at least introduce ideas into it. Even more importantly, who is to say that those ideas are wrong, when a majority of the concepts of those new ideas (self improvement) have lead to a positive impact on the lives of those who embraced them?

People can say there is no middle ground, either you are red pill or blue pill, but that's simply not true. We are human beings, all of us are incredibly intricate, complex creatures who are shaped and molded by our experiences. For us to say we are simply one side or another would be to ignore that which makes us so incredible as a species. Theres a reason a lot of us are here, due to blue pill tendencies we engaged in in the past, and I assure you, there is no way to be 100% red pill or blue pill because that would indicate mental issues more than a complete embrace of a concept.

All in all, if concepts like self improvement are emerging on other subreddits than this one, I am glad and hope that those people can maximize their lives and make the most of their potential.

A misunderstanding about r/theredpill is that people think all our users believe themselves to be hulking alpha males, which is far from the truth. Users here DO believe in self improvement which is on the path to achieving your goals.

[–]Endorsed Contributorbicepsblastingstud 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah, its actually quite the opposite. Like one would expect from any self-Improvement sub, i'd say that the majority of posters here are much more "beta". Maybe like 5% are natural alphas.

[–]TattedGuyser 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If everyone here was a natural alpha, there would be no point for this sub to exist. I see this as a home for men to push back against the onslaught of media and feminism and to re-teach ourselves how to be happy being men. There are too many sources in our lives which teach us to conform and be controlled, which ultimately leads to very unhappy lives, instead we look at the alternatives and re-learning everything that has been shoved down our throats over the years.

[–]ThanksRoissy 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I personally hate the alpha/beta terms, but it's not even about that. It's about what strengths you have and what improvements you need to make. I'm a tall, skinny, nerdy guy but I'm confident in myself and I sell myself well.

Not a sub here, came here from r/all

Usually half the shit r/bestof upvotes is a caricature of the thing it claims to talk about. It's less about the best of reddit, and more about whatever feeds the hivemind's prior biases the best

I don't plan on subbing here, even if y'all aren't the evil woman hating sub reddit paints you as I don't really want this sub on my account to be seen by others because of the reputation it has (even if it's an undeserved reputation. People have their own biases, and I don't wanna lose friends over trying to defend it. No offense)

From what I've read it actually seems to be about

  1. Respect yourself. No one is worth being put on a pedestal, no one is worth your dignity.

  2. Be realistic about how the world works

  3. Stop buying into bullshit fairy tales you've been fed since childhood.

  4. Self improvement is better for increasing your worth than being a "nice guy"

  5. Respect yourself!

In any other context besides saying it's from this sub, people would agree with it.

It seems like the difference between

"Treat others the way you would want to be treated" (how people want the world to be)

And

"Treat people the way they treat others" (how the world actually is)

Jesus's golden rule only works if everyone follows it. If you follow it but others don't, then you'll end up getting taken advantage of and walked over. We do not live in a utopian society. It'd be nice if we did, but we don't.

I think many people on reddit hate the idea of what they think this place is about, rather than hating what this place actually is about.

The basic premise from what I can gather is respect yourself, improve yourself, and don't give up your dignity no one is worth degrading yourself over just because they are a different gender from you. Feminists say the same thing for women to do over and over, and they're applauded for it.

Nice guys finish last, because you can never become successful by trying to make everyone else happy. Sometimes you should focus on what makes you happy.

The real successful, happy people are those that can recognize how the world actually works and adapt to it. No bullshit, no fairy tales, no "well in a perfect world things would be like...". just a realistic approach to how the world works, not how you want it to work.

Am I close in the ballpark, or way off base?

[–]TheSKSpecial 10 points11 points12 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You've got it nailed down pretty well, actually.

I think many people on reddit hate the idea of what they think this place is about, rather than hating what this place actually is about.

You get it. Well done.

People hate this place because it sometimes gives a misogynistic vibe solely because we do not fit mainstream reddit and mainstream Western culture which is nowadays politically correct, liberal, and feminized.

Confirmation biases play a big role in reddit's thought process. Reddit is also notorious for having a hivemind.

You don't have to subscribe here if you do not feel comfortable but do feel free to look around and browse, especially the top posts and the ones which are well written and thought out. They come from these type of comments and posts, and a small minority end up subscribing.

most of the people subscribed here come from these type of posts.

This is always terrible for a subreddit, and accounts for most of the degradation here. 90%+ of the posts by new users stray widely from the original RP philosophy. It's been disappointing to see TRP go so far downhill.

I'm not an atheist, but used to subscribe there for the relatively decent debates. I have been on TRP for a while but I don't recall anything major on Jan 4th. Do you know how I can look on TRP or search thru the redditmetrics to see what happened?

[–]TooMuchToDoo 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I was one of the subscribers on the 4th. It was an askreddit that made the front page asking "what is the worst subreddit that you know?"

TRP was obviously at the top of the list, and bam. 1,000 new subscribers.

I suspect similar will happen today.

[–]RedSpectrum1 point 12 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Oh, I remember that now! I was like where the fuck are these people coming from?

And it might even surpass that number today considering that EMSK post is now over in /r/bestof and we already gained 320 last time I checked redditmetrics.

Gilded 9 times. That "super upvote" button sure cashs in for reddit.

Wonder what kind of people upvote that. These kind of people.

Gilded and 600 upvotes

I honestly don't mean to have a hostile tone, but are you intentionally trying to project the whole stepford/pleasantville creepiness that many of your photographs seem to give off?

You seem to represent an almost impossible-to-attain portrait of womanhood, and as a woman I honestly find many of your pictures unsettling. I swear, I'm an otherwise very confident person and I consider myself attractive, so I'm not trying to sound like some butthurt overweight girl who is whining about unattainable standards of beauty and femininity (this statement is directed towards the rest of reddit, not you). Can you provide some insight about your artistic vision and intentions?

I'm very very curious to hear what you have to say. Something about your photos makes me feel strangely depressed/inadequate and I'm alarmed by my own reaction. That being said, this is truly great work and I applaud your abilities.

edit: I'm reacting to your Instagram as a whole, not just these photos.

A reaction to that thread. http://redditlog.com/snapshots/774049

Nothing new for a redpill reader. That is the way women (and blue pills) react to greatness. They are not inspired to better themselves. They hate with a passion which burns hotter than hell.

Holy shit that reaction... I thought this complain was about something like that fit mom from a few months ago, but this hamster is complaining and questioning her self worth, just because the OP is a pretty amazing cook.

I'm getting thus right? English is not my native tongue so I might be getting a wrong context.

[–]colovick 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nope you're spot on... A woman feeling inadequate because someone else's cooking is too pristine and well polished.

[–]through_a_ways 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What disturbs me is not that this one girl made a comment like that, but that it was upvoted over 600 times, with a plethora of like-minded comments underneath.

Holy shit, women hate success.

TalShar -5 Points 16:36:53, 30 June:

Thanks! I noticed the x-post and I had never seen /r/FeMRADebates before, so now I know it exists!

It is a sad thing that nice guys (using your definition of actual guys who are nice) often "strike out" in the dating scene. However, if those guys stick to it, I find that they often end up with ladies who get sick of dating the "bad boys." And then their lady knows what they want in a man, and they appreciate what they've got!

Just takes a little patience. Or, well, a lot of patience. But nothing worth doing is easy.

This is a perfect example of why I'm here.

1) If you're not running sexual strategy you're having sexual strategy run on you.

2) Most people promote AFBB/The Feminine Imperative without even fucking realising they're doing it.

It got downvoted but still, only -5 for a post from the OP that contradicted his entire original post and promoted the same bullshit he claims to hate but in the opposite form. Amazing.

[-] Bananafarmers 28 Points 17:20:38, 30 June

I am a woman, and I just got out of a relationship where I was always left guessing, where I was always "almost" the girlfriend, where I couldn't get anything right. My emotions were always irrational, my worries were always unfounded- until, of course, I finally discovered the other "almost" girlfriends last week and finally broke it off literally yesterday.

Anyways, I am not really adding anything good to this, but I was sitting here feeling lonely, sorry for myself, and REALLY shitty about men in general (superficial amoral users)- and then I read this. Thank you for making me feel better about men, and helping me figure out how to take care of myself better in the next relationship. I won't settle for anything less than open, loving equality again. It is great to have a reminder that you guys exist.

[-] TalShar 4 Points 17:41:21, 30 June

Very glad to help. I'm sorry you got tied up with a reprobate. But there are more good men out there than it may seem at times. We just take a bit longer to mature. =P

And here again, perfect example of Alpha Fucks Beta Bucks with neither realising they're promoting it. "I'm a woman who's been riding the carousel but it didnt work out and I couldn't secure commitment so now I need my nice guy! Any volunteers?" Oh and look who's the first White Knight in line- the fucking OP.

If any of the new people needs a reason to stay - This is it. TRP is more than "lift weights bro! be confident bro", it's about recognising and avoiding female-centric bullshit that we're so deeply programmed to comply with that we don't even notice it.

society can tell you to do many things. society stands by and takes a cell phone video of a mom getting beat up by another woman while her toddler stands by scared for his life. society can tell you THE WAY things should be. however, it is more than just a habit, its in our nature, as a man to act as a man, and a woman to act as a woman. We are not fighting that nature with logic because 9 times out of 10, nature wins. Instead, we try to understand it, through TRP.

People, such as those in that posted above, will shit on your beliefs all day if it doesn't match theirs or if it isn't politically correct. Just look at the post in r/confession about the parents who don't believe in god yet they preach it because its their way to make a living. You have your own beliefs and its up to you to stand by them and not let people tell you what to do. Even here, in this subreddit, we aren't forcing you to listen to our beliefs, but if it sounds right to you, then by all means take it in and choose what feels right to you. I don't believe in everything that is said in this subreddit, but I believe enough that it has made a positive impact in my life and my relationships.

It's up to you whether you want to "take" the red pill and get what you want out of it. This is about embracing what nature intended instead of fighting it.

They hate us because we are here helping men get what they want, and because we advocate the idea that men and women are socially and sexually different while advocating for equal legal rights/treatment. This is antithesis to the feminist ideology.

Just read the post linked by OP, where he over and over states that people are people. The basis of our division is we say men are men and women are women and it will be beneficial to act like your gender.

[–]T-rexTea[S] 5 points6 points7 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You don't have the wrong idea, the OP described a warped caricature of this sub often portrayed in /r/shitredditsays, /r/thebluepill, and every other subreddit. It is likely he has never read anything even near the length of his long tirade against TRP.

There is no message. We're just a community that contributes to it's own wealth of knowledge through self posted theories and field reports.

We don't care what other people think of TRP. Either they swallow the pill, or they stick to their confirmation bias and choke on it. We're not responsible for their happiness.

[–]super-nsfw 18 points19 points20 points 12 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

I'd characterize that post as semi-genuine - I think much of it was quite fair (in my opinion), but there was also a partial element of not wanting to understand, and by that I mean, I personally did not get the sense that he was saying "here is my current understanding of what TRP stands for, does anyone disagree with that?" but rather "here is what TRP stands for, and here is why that is wrong".

His description is inconsistent with my understanding or interpretation of what TRP is. I'll describe my interpretation, or what I find useful about the general idea, and am curious to hear opinions of that, whether it is consistent with the "official" purpose, etc.

In a nutshell: humans, both female and male, have flaws. Some are shared, some are unique to genders. It varies by individual, but there are undeniable patterns and commonalities.

Speaking with respect to "women" and "feminism" specifically (men also have issues in my opinion, but that is a different topic): I believe for whatever reason (culture, media, law, perhaps the fault of men, etc) there is to a certain degree (with many but not all women) a systemic abuse of power in our society and relationships. If we have conflict, we are told we are supposed to sit down and communicate to resolve our differences, but in my opinion, one side is willing to do that and the other is not. One side is willing to be honest and genuine, the other side is not.

My interpretation of what TRP should be used for, is to essentially destroy that dishonest and uncooperative behavior in a relationship. Then, once the attitude problem has been straightened out, you can proceed discussions as rational adults as we are told we are supposed to do by OP of that post. I personally do not agree that the psychological tools of TRP should be used to subordinate or abuse your SO on an ongoing basis (as he claims is the purpose), but I fully endorse using it absolutely whenever necessary to force a climate of discussion. If you are in a disagreement with someone and refuse to listen to their side of the argument, than I believe any psychological technique to remove that deliberately ignorant and arrogant attitude is appropriate.

I disagree with the OP of the other post, and anyone else on that side of the argument, when they assert that everyone is always being reasonable, rational adults in this disagreement, and all you have to do is sit down and talk, you don't need to resort to such underhanded psychological games. Yes, many people are like that, but many people are not, and both men and woman are guilty of it - TRP just so happens to concern itself with the "pro-male" subset of this group.

Anyways, that's my view of it, I'm curious how that jives with other's opinions, or the "official" purpose.

[–]blopdop123 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There isn't really an "official" anything here. It's a bunch of guys sharing data, anecdotes, and opinions for the same common general purpose: how to improve their romantic prospects with women.

People tend to converge on opinions on things after lots of debate, but that's more of a consensus than an official purpose. And people's precise goals on here aren't always the same. Some want to fuck more, some want a better marriage, some want serial relationships.

[–]super-nsfw 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Agreed....I'm kinda curious what the consensus is....it's hard to know.

Also, when outsiders accuse TRP of something, it's more difficult to deny it if there are no particular beliefs.

[–]M0RKET -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Very well said. What you described matches my experience very well. I'm new to this sub, but was lucky to learn and adopt similar concepts elsewhere, so I'm 90% sure I understand what RP is about, though I stumbled on it just now. Again: you're absolutely correct. "Abusive" techniques are necessary sometimes to force women out of their "better than thou" persona. And once they're out of that, I proceed to have a loving relationship, yadda yadda. I naturally don't have the cruelty to abuse people who don't deserve it

[–]super-nsfw 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What is the so-called "official" stance of TRP on the notion of how "we" are to exercise this power we achieve via psychological techniques - is it recommended to use them continuously such that we are always in a controlling position over our partner, rather than using it only return the state of the relationship to an equal balance of power.

To me that is a very legitimate question, and I'm honestly not sure what the "official" stance is on that, maybe it is stated somewhere an I just have to RTFM, I dunno.

[–]colovick -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Since no one else seems to be responding, I'd say that you've found a reasonable use of the information archived here and I hope it works well for you. The part where I disagree with the OP and your interpretation however is where you say/imply that your SO taking a subordinate role is abusive. The difference is in the approach and the execution. When you hear those things you think something along the lines of beating them into submission either physically or emotionally, which isn't how it works.

It works by saying something along the lines of "I'm going to do XYZ in my life, you're welcome to follow me in that journey if you'd like." Then the implication is that they agree to living under those conditions of they are too be with you. They'll test the waters and see how serious you are, but if you remain unwaivering, they'll eventually decide to follow or get out. And that's the point, decision making independent of her presence. There's nothing abusive about it.

An example from my life, when I meet a new girl, part of the conversation before or after sex is to tell her where I see things going, either dating or just sleeping together, and I offer her what I feel she's worth to me and challenge her to either prove me right or wrong (depending on what's fitting), then I tell her that unless we are dating and say we're exclusive, I'll be sleeping with other women. It's not negotiable, but she can expect the courtesy and respect of me not flaunting it in front of her. This is my basic verbal contract with anyone in sleeping with more than once, and they tend to be agreeable with it, even if shocked a bit.

[–]super-nsfw 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Fair enough, if this is done before you are married (as you seem to be talking about). If you decide to adopt this stance after you are married, I believe that is wrong.

[–]colovick 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

After marriage, any ultimatum has the phrase "or I'll divorce you" hanging over it... My first marriage ended up being an open marriage, but I agree that it is not an ideal environment for raising kids.

[–]super-nsfw 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This is very true, and it is an abuse of power (granted by the state). However, if a man happens to find a power of his own, such as the use of psychology, and then proceeds to abuse it, he is no better.

[–]colovick 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'll agree to the extent that it's highly situational. If you're not happy and you use this as a way to take control of your family and pick up the leadership role you forced your wife into, then there's no issue with that. People change, grow, change their opinions, etc. If you got into it for the right reasons, it should be worked out and rebalanced in some way. If you're wanting to screw around, then that's a harder conversation that should have happened much sooner and it depends on your morals among other things how to proceed.

[–]Mardoo 13 points14 points15 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

To be honest, TRP made me happy for the first time in years. I always felt the pressure to be with someone or to persue women in my endless quest of finding love.

I've had a "relationship" with a woman who just wanted sex and tried to abuse me for months, and I played along because I was totally in love with her, but she didn't care at all, she just wanted what's best for her.

Right about after I finally cut her out of my life, I found TRP. First I didn't understand what it's all about, and it's actually quite hard to understand the message behind it if you got brainwashed by reddit that this sub is evil and women-hating.

I became more self concious, I started to give less fucks about what other people thought of me, my social anxiety is nearly gone now because I just don't give a fuck anymore.

I don't need the approval of other people, especially women, to be awesome. I'm just myself and I do whatever the fuck I want with whoever I want.

I'm on this earth to enjoy my life, If you want to tag along, you surely can. But I won't bend my knee for any of you ever again.

[–]Darkstrategy 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm on this earth to enjoy my life, If you want to tag along, you surely can. But I won't bend my knee for any of you ever again.

The message was more about not being a jackass to people. If someone is a jackass to you, you surely wouldn't like it, and so a reasonable and empathetic human being can picture themselves in another's shoes and realize "Hey, if I don't want to be treated like a jackass, maybe I shouldn't be a jackass to other people."

That being said, a relationship is between two people. There's a give and a take on both sides in a healthy relationship. The second you enter a relationship you now have a responsibility to another person's happiness as they do to yours. Of course there being varying degrees of responsibility based on how serious the relationship is. If you have two people employing the "I'll do whatever I want without giving a fuck" strategy the relationship will probably be a clusterfuck, even between two similar-minded people. Hell, this is the reason why everyone says not to room with your best friend.

Being who you are and being comfortable with that is important stuff. Having a partner that is also comfortable with themselves and you is vital as it becomes serious. But if who you are also happens to be a jackass then you're the problem, not other people. Either learn some empathy and change, or learn to be okay with the image of everyone lying their asses off about how nice you were at your funeral when everyone knows you were a jackass.

Keep in mind I am not saying that you specifically are a jackass. I don't know you. But you seemed to have glossed over the main point of this post, which was: we're all people, and you can't expect a healthy relationship (Whether professional, romantic, or friendly) if you take, take, take without any give.

[–]Mardoo 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

yeah I totally ment that. I don't want anyone to bend the knee for me eighter, nobody should! I'm sorry, my english isn't as good as it could be, but i'm working on it :) thank you for your post though!

I believe that you have to be yourself in order for a relationship to work, if you're a white knight beta who does everything for her, you don't have a chance, but some people are like that, and I respect that totally, even if I don't agree with it.

Again, thank you for your post :)

[–]Xeuton 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[–]Mardoo 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points15 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So basically just telling us not to use sexual strategy.

Fine. Let them. Better for me. It's not going to change a woman's natural desire to fuck high value men, but it will give me less competition as more men fall victim to a feel good story where they'll pretend not to live in the real world.

[–]rubberbandnot 67 points68 points69 points 12 years ago* (20 children) | Copy Link

He doesn't seem to understand that it is Nature who pushes us to use sexual strategy, TRP didn't invent it. Being masculine, physically and psychologically, is how man is supposed to be and that is what TRP is about.

He never once makes the distinction between the nature of men and women. Instead, he keeps talking about "human beings". Human beings are like this and like that. The first premise of TRP is that men and women are different and that is why there is a specific TRP subreddit for women. He doesn't admit the difference between the two genders which is why all he has to say is that "A true awakening is realizing that the people around you are more than just faces, that they all have their own stories, their own thoughts, hopes and dreams, and that they are just as complex as you are."

No...what is truly awakening is realizing that men and women are different. Finally behaving like a man and seeing how it changes our relationship with others for the better is what's truly awakening.

[–]bfaced 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

They'll never concede there's inherent gender differences. Feminism has decided the nature vs nurture debate is over and that it's all nurture and society's evil oppressing ways. I know of a book called The Delusion of Gender that's huge in feminist circles.

It's not about being completely equal in every way 100% of the time. It's about loving an accepting the other person for what they are, and not caring about who owes whom what. If the other person isn't pulling their weight, either discuss it like an adult, or leave. Don't abuse and manipulate them until you get what you want. It's really not that difficult of a concept.

No. There is always someone with a greater degree of power in a household. Nature dictates it.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Power is the ability or capacity to affect change. Having power is one thing, but exercising power is another thing. Power in and of itself says nothing about how a natural relationship between a man and a woman should function, if it did, it would be perfectly natural to commit rape. While rape may have been a legitimate survival strategy that may be present in our DNA, I think it is a behavior that probably lost its influence after our neanderthal brothers passed away, and we were then able to communicate more effectively with one another. This may explain why woman are often so into artists and musicians because these men communicate with them rather than knocking them over the head with a club and dragging them to a cave to rape them.

[–]Kepaso 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Exactly. This is what the RP is about, exposing the (often hidden) women sexuality to men so they can learn. TRP sure seems ugly when you believe in a egalitarian sexuality between the sexes, especially when guys like the OP is saying that everyone is different, but at the same time everyone is equal and only a good talk and being nice to a woman will be enough to attract her. '' WTF, those people believe in alpha /beta stuff? are they for real? '' '' what, are you telling me that women are attracted to higher status men than themselves. Bunch of douches''

[–]TogiBear 21 points22 points23 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

What the Red Pill strategy does is flip that power dynamic on its head. When it works, now it's the man who is in power and the woman who is suffering.

My main beef with his entire argument. His premise is that women are "suffering" because their man now calls the shots.

Is it really emotional abuse when you hold all the cards? He writes, "And it's damned effective in some cases. It'll get you what you want if you do it right" but he completely ignores why it works.

Women love men, but they love stronger, independent men more. When a man swallows the Red Pill and begins re-shaping his relationship strategy, it's "my rules or the road." If she doesn't like a strong, independent man he'll simply find a woman that does. It gets him what he wants because she wants do be the one to do that. She values their relationship more than anything else and she'll do whatever she can to keep him happy.

Let's revisit the term "emotional abuse": Psychological abuse, also referred to as emotional abuse or mental abuse, is a form of abuse characterized by a person subjecting or exposing another to behavior that may result in psychological trauma, including anxiety, chronic depression, or post-traumatic stress disorder.

If you take common material from TRP's sidebar and implement it in your lifestyle, does your girl exhibit any of these symptoms?

Do any /r/RedPillWomen seek therapy because their husband or boyfriend is a red pill man?

The man gets the sex without having to commit any real effort to the relationship, aside from making sure that his SO's emotions are brutally crushed on a regular basis.

A common argument from someone that doesn't know what they're talking about. RedPill does not tell you to destroy your partner's emotions, it teaches you to become her emotional pillar. RedPill does not tell you not to commit anything to the relationship, it teaches you not to commit too much, as there will be an inbalance.

that's what the Red Pill is: cold, calculated, systematic emotional torture meant to produce a desired response.

Yeah. We teach you to torture the girls you seek an emotional connection with. It's right there on the sidebar right underneath....

Oh wait, that's right. It's not there. Shame, must have been removed. I trust your word though, because you're on the front page of reddit.

You want a healthy, stable relationship that is going to be rewarding? Here's the secret. Remember that your SO is just as complex, intelligent and vulnerable a human being as you are.

Hate to break it to ya bud, but not every woman on the fucking planet is worth investing your time in a healthy, stable relationship. The key is to find the ones that do.

However, none of your relationships will work out in a healthy manner until you realize that women are people too, not animals to be broken.

Are you a creationist or something? Humans are animals. Wake up. The universe doesn't give two shits about what you think is immoral. We care about giving men the knowledge they need to forge their own happiness.

My main beef with his entire argument. His premise is that women are "suffering" because their man now calls the shots.

That's the genius of feminism, teaching the world that women not having 100% control of human sexuality is suffering. I used to wonder why housewives who weren't fucking their husbands would still get mad if he jerked off or visited a porn site. Now it makes perfect sense to me, it's all about control.

The one that always gets me is somebody saying "human beings are so complex!"

No, sorry, humans are nowhere near as unique or complex as they like to tell themselves they are. Mostly, we're just a flash in the pan, forgettable, replaceable, and most importantly, predictable.

Great post. After being immersed in the PUA community for 7 years and then leaving it, I took the red pill last week felt the power but the EMSK post swayed me a bit but this reminded me.

"RedPill does not tell you to destroy your partner's emotions, it teaches you to become her emotional pillar. RedPill does not tell you not to commit anything to the relationship, it teaches you not to commit too much, as there will be an inbalance." - TogiBear

Women are squirrels and men are trees. The women can only run around the tree if it is grounded and deeply rooted. Redpill teaches a man to be that tree by becoming strong mentally/emotionally(roots), physically(trunk/branches) and financially(leaves).

The EMSK guy could possibly be a natural red pill man but never went through a phase of being beta and so the way he already communicates with women the way we are advocating.

Just copying my wall of text from that thread to explain my view on the issue:

No... This is a very sad misrepresentation across the board. The goal is discussing sexual strategy and everyone and everything has a sexual strategy, whether conscious, subconscious, will thought out, or poorly planned/executed. In a sense, everyone is playing a strategy game, some things work, some things don't. People find a strategy that works for them through trial and error. It's a fact.

As for the centerpiece of this thread, the concept of abusing someone by training them is patently false. In every relationship there is a leadership role and a follower role. In any and all relationships there is a give and take, trading the leadership hat in areas where one person is better suited to leading. Places like /r/theredpill gloss over this at large due to the purpose of the sub and the overall dichotomy of human masculinity which takes a lot of introspection and study within the source materials to understand, and that is something most, if not all people who are detractors of the group fail to achieve. They see material at surface level and reject it.

This, by the way, is intentional. These things were written intentionally in such a way that the surface representation is harsh, but leads to a better understanding of the concept at hand. An example of this is the statement "women do not age emotionally past 2 years old." You'll be hard pressed to find anyone who whole heartedly believes that, but the thought conveys a feeling that helps understanding concepts like amused mastery.

Back to the previous point though, the idea of TRP being about emotional abuse is far from the truth, but it's easy to make that mistake. People are happiest when constrained. When you give them a schedule, a list of expected behaviors, and consequences for acting out, people are quantifiably happier, less depressed, and more productive. This applies to the law, it applies to running a business, it applies to raising children, and it applies to relationships. A cursory trip through /r/redpillwoman will show a group of happy people who know the traditional roles that are expected of them in such a relationship and taking a support role in the family as a first mate would on a ship. There's nothing abusive about it.

The direct analogy for punishment is disciplining a child. It's not abuse to punish a child for misbehaving, it's not letting them be spoiled. Chastising an employee for not doing the assigned work isn't harassment, it's team building and keeping them to their word. Relationships are no different. If you set ground rules of no hitting and she starts slapping you in an argument, disciplining her by leaving, dumping her, or some other means is justifiable and not abusive.

Overall I believe that their method of holding prior accountable and assuming she can make her own decisions is more pro-woman than the feminist narrative of women being inferior and a victim. Just some food for thought.

As for the concept of alpha > beta, that is also patently false and misattributed. The best way to begin learning why is to look at the extreme of "pure alpha" behavior, also known as the dark triad. It's a very real psychology concept of the behaviors expressed by very high testosterone levels which are psychopathy, sociopathy, and Machiavellianism. No feelings, no remorse, and cut throat goal driven at the expense of everything else. If you reach that point, you will get laid, you will feel awesome, and you will drive away any semblance of friends or a social circle and never have a relationship last longer than a week. This is because the behaviors known under beta are caring, comforting, and providing. And these are required to hold any sort of human companionship. The opposite of having no alpha traits, means no spark in the relationship, no sexual drive or desire from your partner. So the full answer is that you need a mix of alpha and beta behaviors and traits to maintain any healthy relationship. Here's where it gets complicated though. People generalize. Women will judge you based on how you act and lump you into a desire group or a provider group, and it becomes the man's job to do enough alpha things to stay desired, but not so much as to run them off.

Where TRP takes a different path from me as a collective is this step. Because there are no repercussions for the lower earner in a marriage (the ultimate long term relationship) cheating on their spouse or being hateful and holding divorce, compounded with alimony and child support over your head, this causes marriage in its current state to be a risky investment for a male, especially one with a high income. TRP states you should never marry and be cautious who you choose to have children with (if at all). I differ in believing that marriage should still be on the table and that refusing under any circumstances may in fact drive away someone who was worth the risk. And this is where I agree with OP that blindly following a dogma without adjusting it for your life and goals is crazy. It also happens that TRP by and large is accepting of different opinions, but what I described above is what could be called the hive decision. That said, u still believe the bulk of the information there is solid and useful enough to stay there and apply it to my life and relationships. I trust myself to be rational enough to decide for myself what to take and what to toss.

TL;DR: if you need a TL;DR for this or any other information on lifestyle choices, then TRP isn't for you anyways.

Yes. They are. Which is why I don't put them on a pedestal. Which is why they aren't entitled to special treatment because they are the "gatekeepers" of sex. Which is why when they are hamstering or acting silly, I call them out on it.

I feel like the author uses "woman are people too" to advance an agenda of treating them differently. Seems a little backwards.

[–]Turpentine01 105 points106 points107 points 12 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

The author wasn't saying to treat them differently, thats pretty much the exact opposite of his message. He was essentially saying to treat women as you'd like to be treated yourself, or more directly, don't treat them to the same techniques and methods you would hate for someone to use on you.

Calling someone out on their bullshit is fine, as long as you accept that that works both ways. Its even healthy, as long as you actually talk about it like human beings and it isn't simply a one sided put down. Its not about gender vs gender, or one being better or worse than the other, its about how if you care about someone for more than just their genitals you should treat them as such.

Sexual strategy has been apparent in society for hundreds of years, if not since the dawn of man. What makes you think it's any different now?

[+]Lok_Die -11 points-10 points-9 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Relationships are more than being polite to each other.

There is most certainly a masculine and feminine role to relationships. Part of trp is trying to remasculize the male side of the equation. Bringing the top back into balance.

On top of this you have the whole apparent demonization of masculinity. Which in and of itself is problematic because there is a set of mental milestones a stereotypical masculine male must go through to be of any use to himself and everyone around him. These steps starting from early childhood to condition this nascent man into a wholesome man. Part of this is exploration of oneself mentally and physically.

With the demonization of masculinity you have this refusal of young boys to walk the path to productive malehood. Or even their fathers refusal to lead them down the path.

I should explain why it is important for men to be gently shepherded down the path by a father.

Masculine energy, our responses to stress and threat can be exceedingly destructive if not channelled into something constructive. A boys father acts as a buffer to the real world as his son figures out how to interact with the world in a constructive way, both guiding with wisdom and administering punishment when needed to correct any truly aberrant behaviour.

Part of the benefits of this training and acquisition of mental skill sets is a pillar of strength and resourcefulness that everyone around him can count on. Most importantly he can be a father himself to carry on the tradition.

The problem is men refuse to step foot on the path. The path requires destruction, it requires abuse of power. It requires men to know what they are capable of.

Trp is a frank discussion of this destructive capacity and how it can be channelled into greater power for one's self.

One of the reasons it is common to see extreme views here is men are now old, takingtheir first steps into harnessing masculine power, and as I said, part of that is the need to understand it's destructive nature by using it for just that.

Without men to shelter and buffer their sons explorations of himself, it is done in public, where those who refuse to embrace their masculinity and can't watch on in horror until hos transformation is complete.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This is some real fucked up propaganda you are trying to sling.

Masculinity is not about abuse. Sure, it's about power, assertiveness, and aggressiveness, but abuse by definition is where you draw the line.

You don't have to be destructive to harness your masculinity, in fact, you can even be constructive, build your body, build your skills, build relationships, hell, even build a giant phallic building if you want.

[–]Lok_Die -4 points-3 points-2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You seem to miss the point entirely.

Learning about ones self requires exploration of all you are capable of.

Not doing something because someone else tells you it's bad is silly. It's a standard practice for men to learn for themselves if they believe it to be incorrect or immoral.

Saying that you must never abuse the power you have is obtuse. A man acquires power and skills to use. Not to wonder at.

| He was essentially saying to treat women as you'd like to be treated yourself, or more directly, don't treat them to the same techniques and methods you would hate for someone to use on you.

It's rather solipsistic and facile to believe that other people necessarily have the same preferences, attitudes and reactions as does oneself.

It's very easy to believe that that others reason and feel as oneself, and this is often wrong.

i.e. "check your ego-privilege"

[–]ACC0007 60 points61 points62 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Because treating someone the way you want to be treated is "treating them differently"

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points18 points 12 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

I have a simple philosophy in life. You tell the other person what you want, and if they don't give you what you want, you can try and negotiate a compromise, but if neither party wants to compromise, you amicably go your separate ways. This goes for both males and females. It doesn't involve any theorizing about what is feminine or what is masculine; it doesn't involve any theorizing about balancing the forces of nature; and it doesn't involve any theorizing about the nature of love or sex. It doesn't involve any manipulation or game. Simply put, it is the practice of direct communication: telling the other person honestly and clearly what you want and how you feel. This is neither a masculine or a feminine communication method. This is a human communication method. You use this in all relationships. You use it in romantic and sexual relationships just as much as you use it to speak to your friends and family.

[–]instaswole 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

If you go through your entire life thinking like this, you're gonna get blindsided by quite a bit of manipulation from others. It's part of human nature, thus the term "it's a dog eat dog world." Be alert.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

It is not part of human nature. We learn to feel guilty and feel manipulated from a very young age. Our parents, teachers, and peers are constantly telling us what we should and should not do, as if there are some universal rules we ought to abide by. The facts are that there are no rules, and others use these made up rules in order to control your behavior through guilt or some other emotion. However, not all parents, teachers, or peers are manipulative by nature. For instance, a manipulate parent, male or female, may tell their child, "Running in the house is wrong!", which inspires guilt in the child, and that child then learns to use these same devices to control others latter in life. But another parent may be honest with their child and respond to the same situation by saying, " I do no want you running in the house. It pisses me off." That is direct communication. There is no arguing with the person; there is only the confrontation with what they want and how they feel, and it is then your job to work out a solution. There is no workable solution when morality is invoked, but there may be a workable solution if actual facts are involved. With that said, you are right that being alert is helpful in dealing with manipulation. All it takes is for someone to recognize when they are being manipulated, which is not hard after a bit of self-reflection and observation. And it really has nothing to do with a dog-eat-dog world. It has to do with how we learn to communicate what we want, which is by and large, through manipulation and indirect communication, and this is true for both males and females: men and women are both afraid to say that they want sex or that they want a loving relationship for fear that they are a slut or a player, or being that they are being clingy or sentimental.

There is no perception in the statistics I've mentioned, which are posted in a nearly daily basis. I've not even delved into the myth that "women earn less than men".

Yes, it goes both ways, and should.

[–]IIdsandsII 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm not totally disagreeing with you, and I agree with your analysis of the statistics, but there are other statistics that favor men over women. Some of these things are natural and we'll never have control over them. Women will never be as physically powerful as men, and are therefore totally uninteresting to watch in sports, and are therefore never going to make what men make. This is just the way it is. On the other hand, actual jobs in which women should be paid equally don't always work out that way. Men are the dominant sex and we benefit greatly from this, and this is why such shitty laws are enacted that favor women. It's like affirmative action, but with sex. However, as ass-backwards as it all is, it's still better to be a man in this world. Yes there are instances in which men get totally screwed (divorce, rape, etc.), and that is wrong, but women get screwed too.

As for the myth. Well, it's only partially a myth. Yes equal pay exists, but there is still a lot of sex-based discrimination, it exists where I presently work, and nearly every place I've worked at before. I know these issues can be remedied in practice, but it's not always practical or realistic.

Would you really rather be a woman? If you truly would rather be female than male, then I guess you have an argument? If not, then you have no leg to stand on.

in my own experience:

-all the men in my company make more than the woman at the same position. this job and every other job i've had.

-i've found that male opinions matter more, and that female opinions are immediately discounted. this starts in the home and permeates it's way up through the most powerful positions in the world. not always true, but it happens often.

-we are naturally stronger, this opens up a lot of doors closed to women. think WNBA or x-games female. that shit sucks.

-all my life, women have taken care of me because certain things are a woman's work (cooking, cleaning, etc.). i've taken full advantage of that one. on the other hand, i do a lot of the man's work, and i feel good about it (fixing things, building things, etc.). it doesn't have to be that way, but it is, and i prefer my role much more.

there's plenty more, but i'd have to think about it and i have to run out the door right now.

sexism exists, and we all benefit and suffer from it. some of it is nature-based. that's all i'm saying.

"people dont think i got my job because of my gender", because that realy has a huge impact on someones life.

people are gossiping about men and women, always and constantly, what they are gossiping about doesnt realy matter.

the entire list is complete garbage.

compare those "privileges" to things like workplace death, jail time for the same crime, investment into mens health, homelessness, suicide rates.. and on and on

take this for example: "8. On average, I am taught to fear walking alone after dark in average public spaces much less than my female counterparts are."

so men are less afraid, but still more of them are assaulted and more of them die... what a fucking privilege.

or this:

  1. If I choose not to have children, my masculinity will not be called into question.

  2. If I have children but do not provide primary care for them, my masculinity will not be called into question.

ones masculinity will be called into question. pretty much everybody is going to tell you to man up and be a real men and do whats right.

this shit is ridicilous

"24. Even if I sleep with a lot of women, there is no chance that I will be seriously labeled a “slut,” nor is there any male counterpart to “slut-bashing.”"

and if you cant sleep with lots of women are seen as a neckbeard loser who cant get laid. you will be creep and virgin shames. thats the male counterpart of "slut-bashing".

A feminist, which I am not, might accurately say that these things are because of the sexism that perpetuated our culture until recently. We all put women on a pedestal, treated them as nurturers. Men did this and women accepted it. So because men were sexist in not treating women equally, the holdover is that they get less harsh prison sentences, kids in the divorce, and are generally seen as victims instead of perpetrators.

I feel like the author uses "woman are people too" to advance an agenda of treating them differently. Seems a little backwards.

It's how progressive ideology works. Not only must you maintain social mores but your emotional state must be congruent to your behavior regardless of how you actually feel about what you're doing.

You have to treat women as people. You should never purposefully harm people. Therefore, you must never purposefully harm women.

The downside of this logic train is that people can be assholes (or bitches). They can be irrational, self-centered, entitled, aggressive, and manipulative...And not even know it. That's the epiphany that makes you an adult, when you realize that people (even you) have no fucking idea what is going on because they (and you) are so wrapped up in the "self". You can utterly destroy someone without even being aware of it.

The only way to NOT do harm to people is to avoid them completely and even then, where you were born and raised can mean that your very existence necessitates someone else's suffering. It's why progressives are always filled with guilt and lash out at "privileged white men" while simultaneously forgetting that they play just as much into the system as men do.

The only options are; be attractive enough that you can get away with anything, become a recluse, or be an orbiter for the rest of your life and hope that women will one day "learn" to love you. Boyfriend and girlfriend? Hell, most women can't commit for longer than three months because they have so many options available.

It's gotten to the point that women actually sit and debate about whether or not oral sex counts as cheating to rework the numbers in their head so they don't feel quite so bad about themselves. When you have to start nitpicking your own sexual behavior to prove your not a slut, you're probably a slut.

And there's nothing wrong with being a slut, unless you want to have kids with a man that loves you.

This guy is so busy trying to save women that he's letting them destroy themselves. That's the perverted nature of white knights, when it's time to actually fix the problem, they are clueless to whether or not there is even a problem and end up making things worse.

EDIT: Or better...TRP has never been more popular. Men instinctively know that something isn't right with the women of their generation and can't help but be attracted to what makes sense.

RP concepts can be too "next level" for some people, mostly because of the layers of social conditioning that get in the way.

Actually they aren't too "next level" unless you mean the next level down. Hard Core Fundamentalist Islamics, Extreme Christian religions and various cults have been teaching these methods of controlling women for hundreds of years.

Whatever floats your boat. If you want a woman who can have dinner on the table at 6 or accept a 2nd and 3rd wife or convert to your religion, then go find one and don't accept any less.

We're not forcing women to do anything. All we say is for men have a standard for what they want, be up front from the start with any woman they're with about it, and not be afraid to let her go if she's not living up to it. If she wants to stay, she knows what she has to do. If not, there's the exit.

Being allowed the freedom to leave at any time is so controlling, I know.

[–] TheKolbrin 0 points 1 point 2 points 12 years ago   (1 child) | Copy Link

Actually, expecting to have to leave at any time for not 'meeting expectations' means that she will have to work, have separate finances and live in constant preparation for being on her own. More than likely constant preparation will include much less energy and inclination to put supper in front of someone every night and would definitely encourage her to have a little something going on the side, 'just in case'.

But hey, whatever floats your boat.

[–] TheSKSpecial 0 points 1 point 2 points 12 years ago   (0 children) | Copy Link

Of course, since we advocate being honest with expectations from the very beginning, she could also say "no deal, I don't want this kind of relationship" and leave before putting herself in a position of having to worry about "constant preparation for being on her own". Y'know, think about how agreeing to this may affect her in the future.

Putting that decision in front of her requires her taking responsibility and thinking about consequences for her actions, however. She's got all the freedom in the world to choose who she's with, and if she chooses to stay here, she knows what's expected of her.

Are you saying women can't be expected to take responsibility for their own choices? Kinda misogynistic, don't you think?

they hate what they don't understand. They don't want to understand that they don't understand. And they want to convince everyone else to hate that which they don't understand nor intend on understanding. You don't waste time arguing with people who state upfront that their imagination is more important than facts.

It's like this whenever a group hates on another group of people. Arabs, immigrants, conservatives, rich people, poor people... The same process you mentioned is used in all of these. So people, keep this in mind whenever someone hates on a group of people, keep this in mind whenever you yourself hate on a group of people.

[–]colovick 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not to beat the point to death, but the bulk of his post was based on a couple faulty assumptions. 1. That we advocate abuse or abusive behavior. We don't, we advocate leading a lifestyle of our choosing and believing women are steering and smart enough to decide if our lifestyle is right for them as opposed to trying to tell them what they should think or feel. And 2. That the act of holding women accountable, regardless of whether they stay or go, is abusive. Beyond that, he makes other idealistic comments which are inherently opposed to our theory of working within the world as it is today, not trying to change or hide it behind ideals.

But overall, once you remove those concepts from his post, he's left with a lot of space and very little substance.

The rather aggressively defensive nature of this comment and replies would seem to validate the EMSK op.

There's certain irony that the men & women of /TRP and /SRS or such were made for each other, both trying to climb over their counterparts with pretense to superiority.

It's perhaps best for society for everyone to be able to identify intentions such that the best reciprocating match between the nice folks and between the manipulative ones can be made.

There are a lot of people who cry sour grapes when they look at something that other people enjoy that they can't have. I'd be willing to bet that a lot of the men who oppose TRP the most vocally relied on it when they were single. Now they have settled into an ostensibly satisfying relationship, but every so often their eyes drift back here and they pine momentarily for the good old days of NSA sex. Then their brain immediately hamsters up an excuse for how we couldn't possibly be happy and we must be damaged on the inside, because this resolves their cognitive dissonance and reassures them that they made the correct decision with monogamy.

He literally said that some women do use sexual strategy.

The Red Pill subreddit is also full of "Blue Pill Stories," in which guys get emotionally abused by their girlfriends. They lament being used for their money, their homes, their emotional support, what have you, and then being left when they weren't "Alpha" enough to keep their girlfriends around. It's admirable that you think anyone here read or understood the article.

But......

[–]Endorsed Contributorleftajar 39 points40 points41 points 12 years ago (38 children) | Copy Link

His fundamental error is assuming that you can just tell a woman, "Hey sweetie, how about we don't play any games, okay? No games." And she'll agree to it, and stick to it.

As most of us here know, that doesn't work, ever.

Game-playing is hard-coded into the female brain, because it's a part of their sexual strategy. You could literally tell a girl you don't want to play games, and she'll agree to it, and mean it, and then play games anyway. Thus, the BURDEN of running the relationship falls onto us men, because only we are capable of running a relationship for mutual benefit.

TL;DR the guy has no idea what he's talking about, and lives in a la-la land where chicks will magically agree not to play games if you just ask.

[–]CrashingAnalyst 9 points10 points11 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I have only been browsing here but isn't TRP about NOT playing games? Rather than about playing games back?

So if a person, male or female, starts playing games with you, rather than eating it up you stop and say 'actually, I don't need this.' and focus on the self rather than trying to manipulate other people to fall for you?

The best way to make other people male or female attracted to you isn't to fawn over them, nor is it to manipulate them with psychology, but rather just to concentrate on making yourself literally the most desirable person you can be.

Let the game players play games and let me be try and be more awesome every day.

Might have it wrong though.

[–]FinnianWhitefir 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's a complicated issue. I love the quote from Patrice that "The best game of all is no game at all" meaning you should just be the person that would answer every test perfectly and attract every lady. But the start of TRP is usually understanding what games/tests are happening, what answers will drive attraction, and answer in that way.

I.E. every answer to "How should I respond to this text?" is crafting some kind of game.

[–]Endorsed Contributorleftajar 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Awesome question. I want to piggyback on what FinnianWhitefir said.

You're totally right: the best situation is to not play games at all.

Two things prevent this:

1) 99.99% of women will play games. They do it a LOT during the "courtship" phase, and continue to a lesser extent after the relationship has solidified. They'll test men, and if the man takes the test at face value he automatically loses. It's like when the cop asks you, "Do you have anything to hide, or is it alright if I take a look in your car?" Whether you say "yes" or "no," both ways you lose. Women do this in a different way. If you're an attractive man who comes across as confident, they'll test it. A common one is, "you must say this to all the women." Whether you say "yes" or "no," either way you lose. It's their way of figuring how dominant a guy is.

2) Most guys come into this having little understanding of what women are up to. Initially, they have to consciously play the game just to gain experience. It's a "fake it til you make it" sort of thing. Eventually, through repetition and belief change, it becomes a part of his identity and he stops playing games and becomes very direct.

Hope that answered your question.

[–]dianthe 13 points14 points15 points 12 years ago (24 children) | Copy Link

Will say right off that I'm not a part of this community, I came here from the post being discussed because I wanted to see the other side of the argument.

Game-playing is hard-coded into the female brain, because it's a part of their sexual strategy.

Ok, as a 27 woman who's been with the same guy since I was 15 and with whom we always built our relationship on honesty... what do you mean by game playing? (Or sexual strategy?)

When I met my now husband, we pretty much clicked right away, I knew that he was the guy I wanted to spend the rest of my life with and I didn't hide that. Now 11.5 years on I am still very honest with him, if I'm unhappy about something I tell him about it (and he tells me if he is unhappy) and we work together on solving it. I don't think I could play "games" if I wanted to (not sure why I would even want that) because 1) I have no idea how and 2) it would go against my nature and what I want in a relationship. The only games my husband and I play are video games... and sometimes board games.

[–]colovick 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Last I checked, the odds of a highschool sweetheart relationship lasting through college is around 1%, so yes, you're very fortunate to have gotten together so young. Also your type of marriage is one if the few recommended by the most hardcore anti marriage people on here, so that should tell you what a gem you've found/created and I wish you luck going forward.

[–]trias_e2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

To be perfectly honest, as someone who has been with only one person since you were 15, much less of what of spoken of here will be relevant to you (there's a reason many people on this sub suggest that marriage only makes sense if you are her first). There's a bit of a mistake in saying that things are 'hard-coded' into the brain. Behaviors still require experience/environment to activate. I think game-playing (shit testing) is something that comes about after being 'fooled' so to speak by the legitimacy of previous partners. It's the result of the natural sexual strategy of women (to be with a male with certain characteristics) combined with the experience of being disappointed in that fact. Just my two cents there.

[–]dianthe 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Well we were each other's firsts and I think it certainly does matter. Though sadly our society often times tells you "Oh, if you've only ever been with one person you are missing out! YOLO!" etc. and many men and women crumble under that pressure and leave a perfectly happy relationship in order to gain "more experience". My younger sister is going through that with her bf right now, they've been together for 6 years, are each other's firsts, and he keeps saying how he is not sure he should stay with her because of that even though as people they are very compatible.

[–]TheSKSpecial 8 points9 points10 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You at least recognize how sad that mentality is, that people must sleep around in order to be fulfilled. Many women nowadays do not (or at least, don't admit to it or act on it).

[–]redpillshadow 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Playing games is you finding out if he is good enough for you. At some point you had to test him. You had to poke him to see how he reacts.

You saying it just magically happened and you clicked right away. Go ask him if it just happened. If he did not put any effort in right at the start.

[–]dianthe 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hmm I never really tested if he was good enough for me, life tested us because we did have to overcome some tough things. If I was curious about something (wanting kids, seeing where and how he wants to live in the future etc.) I just asked him about it.

Go ask him if it just happened. If he did not put any effort in right at the start.

I just asked him, he said: "It really just kind of happened, as a matter of fact I played more games than you did".

God forbid someone with the TRP mindset ever actually believe some people out there don't live by so-called "shit testing" rules otherwise their relationship isn't "real."

She obviously knows what she's looking for if she's been with the same guy for 12 years. It means she's found someone compatible gasp

Well I suppose then it's a good thing I asked the OP and not you. Besides in the sidebar definitions glossary it just says that a "game" is "A loosely based set of behaviors specifically designed to increase attraction." which is very unspecific and perhaps the OP I replied to has a more concrete definition of what he means by "games".

No, talking to other people, asking them questions, asking them for their views, opinions and life experiences is normal human interaction. Let me give you an example: I do dog showing and breeding, every breed has a written breed standard which goes into great detail about characteristics a certain breed needs to posses. There are also plenty of breed specific books written by reputable breeders, judges etc. Yet when us dog show people get together we can spend hours talking about our breed, our interpretations of the standard, which vary greatly from one breeder to another. That is why you see so many different types of dogs of the same breed, each represents a particular breeder's interpretation of the standard.

Going back to the definition of "games", sure I know what it loosely means when it comes to relationships, can even think of a few examples, however I wanted some opinions and examples of what the OP, or other people wishing to reply, mean by it. I'm sure there are as many opinions on what constitutes a "game" as there are people.

I had a few good conversations with people here actually, minus you... you just kind of stumbled in just to act condescending and everyone else ignored you, I only replied because it was a direct reply to my post.

I'm an outsider attempting to engage in conversation, sorry that it's too much for someone with your lack of social skills to bare. Wanting to talk to people to get a variety of opinions instead of reading a text written by a single person which may or may not provide me with information I am after is not lazy, in fact that's the whole point of coming to a forum - you come here to talk to people, if you wanted to just read without the interaction aspect you can go read a book.

And by the way in the dog show world we often times get new people who have questions (sometimes very simple, even stupid ones) and only the stuck up, better-than-thou breeders whom nobody else in the community likes respond in the way you do, most of us take great joy in discussing the thing we love and are passionate about.

I'm not used to anyone going out of their way to "spoon-feed" me, however having normal conversations with people is great and I'm glad I got some good conversations with people here, but I suppose every community has some bad apples.

You fit the exact mold of a /r/RedPillWomen, so you are one of the few exceptions that managed to find her husband early, you workout and are fit, you are likely attractive, and you sincerely do things in support of your relationship. This is exactly the type of woman most men desire. My wife is like this, though I met her later in college.

In relationships, women will play mind games and test your ability to keep calm, rational, and confident. Women don't even know they are doing it and most can't even explain why they lose attraction to a man who fails to maintain a level head and just gives in to them every time they question him. He may not even be bad looking and he may even workout, but something about him bugs them to no end. Eventually they lose all attraction because he's a doormat and the relationship becomes a prototypical /r/deadbedrooms situation where she never has sex with him and he is wondering what he did wrong even though he does most of the household chores and runs all sorts of errands for her. Both people are wondering what happened and what cause the relationship to fail and neither can explain it. Red Pill theory attempts to explain this situation and how to avoid it using evolutionary psychology and going into detail about what causes each sex to be attracted to the other sex (while both sexes have a huge positive response to physical looks, everything else is different and it's something that many people don't seem to understand). The end game of Red Pill is not manipulation of women, it's about making yourself a better man (hence the focus on lifting weights, getting a good job, being confident, learning to live for yourself, etc.) and more attractive to your partner. Since men and women find different things attractive, sometimes this can mean acting in a way that may not seem intuitive at first glance but makes sense in the long run.

Finally, most of the women this subreddit discusses are those women who sleep around, have no real desire to settle down, and jump from person to person while holding out for their "perfect man" that doesn't actually exist. These are the women who are entitled and think they can hold out until their mid 30s. The problem is that by then most men who are that age will just date younger women and don't want a woman with that much "baggage". Your choices in life matter and sometimes you can really screw up for life. This is what /r/RedPillWomen seeks to prevent because these women are typically miserable in the same way that a man who is in a sexless marriage is miserable or a man who is an incel (involuntary celebate) is miserable.

Does this help explain why men come to this subreddit?

[–]SilverNightingale -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, he runs 5 days a week and I do 4-5 days as well + we love hiking together on weekends. Why does it matter?

I'm not sure if I'm so much an exception or just someone who got lucky enough to meet the right guy at a young age so I wasn't "tainted" by going through a lot of bad relationships. From what I have seen many of my friends, whom I've known since childhood, start out the same way - idealistic, just wanting to love and to be loved, and then after they get their heart broken several times they become a lot more selfish, calculative, even sinister.

For me personally, I think our society just places too much emphasis on "self" and teaches kids from a young age how special and deserving they are so then we get all these young adults who only care about themselves, for whom words like sacrifice, loyalty and compromise don't mean anything... or worse are negatives. A relationship where both people are only looking out for themselves will never last or bring any long term happiness.

If you're not playing the game you're already losing!- Dante Nero

[–]Endorsed Contributorleftajar -4 points-3 points-2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You sound like an amazing woman. The redpill teaches us that, in order to have the highest chance of long-term success, date a young woman with zero or few other sexual partners.

In other words, the conditions that led to your relationship are ideal.

The problem with most American women, is that much of the stigma surrounding casual sex has gone away. As a result, many women sleep with dozens of men before they settle down. Which is fine, all power to them. The issue is, that men will sooner bang a woman than get in a relationship with her. So, as a result, these women have been hooking up with attractive guys, and believe they can get that same quality of guy to settle down with them. Eventually they realize they can't, and end up settling for a guy they're not that attracted to. However, their memories of hotter guys end up reducing their satisfaction with their husband. Then, they get divorced, which is super-easy in America.

Basically, it's better to marry a virgin. She's never had any other men, so by definition she isn't "settling."

You can see this a TON even here on reddit. Check out /r/relationships, /r/TwoXChromosomes, etc. You'll see women aged 28-35 complaining that they can't find a man (read: their standards are too high), or they can't seem to find satisfaction with their stable, reliable boyfriends and husbands (read: they've had too many attractive sexual partners in the past).

TL;DR: you're the exception that proves the rule.

[–]torien89 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is one of the most important things betas don't understand. Every one of the 50% of married guys who ends up divorced goes into the marriage thinking it'll be alright, his girl is different, she doesn't play games, he's got himself a good one.

You don't beat the system by playing the same way as everyone else who screwed up and hoping that your turn will magically be different. It's socially reinforced delusion.

Intelligent, mature men and women have the capability to override their instincts and base their decisions on other influences (rational thought, religious dogma, personal crusade, etc etc.) If all women are slaves to their biological drives how does that explain women who decide to not have children? Women who decide not to get married?

If you are dating a man or a woman who says no games and later proves incapable of holding to their own agreement, it proves nothing more than that person has either a lack of self-control, a lack of outside perspective, poor emotional maturity, or a combination of all of the above or more. People who are in control of their mind are better-adjusted. If you constantly find yourself attracting mal-adjusted partners it might be worth having some serious reflection about why you are attracted to these people, or what you are doing that seems to attract them

TRP is a case of shoot the messenger, nothing more, nothing less. We've invented nothing new here, we've just brought to the surface what 50 years of feminism and progressive propaganda has tried to suppress and condition out of the population. Holding these beliefs and espousing them in spite of progressive propaganda efforts is an affront to all the sheeple who are silly enough to believe in equality and base most of their desires and viewpoints around that fundamentally flawed and irrational assumption (that everything is nurture and we're all equal - LOL.) These people are so conditioned to believe in egalitarianism that they rationalize away any actual inequality/double standard they see and tow the "liberal" rhetoric. FYI, modern day liberalism is not about libertarianism anymore just like feminism has gone beyond civil rights, they are bastardized corrupt movements full of doublethink and doublespeak, selling the illusion we live in a utopian progressive paradise when the reality couldn't be further from the truth, humanity is unequal and hierarchical as ever and it ain't fucking changing because of the western education system.

Very good post :) I'm new to this subreddit, I was lucky to have been awakened sooner and elsewhere. But my first impression is that I will enjoy being a subscriber. So let's all say thank you to the author of that critical post. He actually advertises The Red Pill. That's how I found out just now. Feels good to know that somewhere there's a group of people who see this subject the way I do. People I know IRL are wishful thinkers and sheeple scared of truth. Unfortunately

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

He does have a point, but he fails to realize some crucial points:

  • TRP is amoral. He says what we do is breaking women. While trp can certainly be used to do just that, it's not the whole point of it. The same way a knife can be used to make dinner or carve some beautiful shit, it can also be used to just stab somebody in the back. It's the same with trp. It's a tool, nothing less, and nothing more.

  • Just telling a girl "let's not play games, ok?" isn't going to fucking fix anything. Just because you talk about the biological programs we're all running and just because you realize what's happening, does not mean you'd be able to stop it. Try telling somebody who's afraid of heights "Nothing can happen dude, you have a fence right in front of you, there's no way you can fall". Is he going to lose that fear all of a sudden just because he realizes it's irrational? Fuck no!

This sub often acknowledges the way that videogames waste enormous amounts of time and leave you with nothing. Something I don't see mentioned here enough is how easy it is to waste time the same way by mindlessly browsing the internet. You're not going to be better off spending your time reading rants like this or arguing with SJWs. Nothing here relevant to your personal development. Nothing here will advance you in any way. There is nothing to be gained and too much time to be lost.

I admit I didn't read much of this post, or the thousands of repetitive comments anybody who's been here long enough has seen hundreds of time laced with SJW buzzwords, ridiculous claims, and denial, but a glance tells me that this is yet another a post of somebody saying "even if TRP is correct, you shouldn't listen because ..."-- Well, somebody like myself, and maybe yourself too, just cares what is right. Then based on what is correct and what isn't acts accordingly.

damn, you are very right. I spent a good half an hour or so wasting time reading and writing a few comments.

I should not give it shit about proving anything here is worthwhile to anyone. I'm here to improve myself, not go around trying to preach this place and debating with outsiders. It's a waste of time, and like you said, it does nothing for my personal development.

I fucking love the red pill. I love everything about it. Even the maniac new subscribers who don't understand it, they need to be educated is all. I love its honesty, the way it deals with reality instead of bullshit. They way it offers solutions rather than sympathy. And I love the brotherhood, reading a decent FR even if its bragging 101, I still enjoy it. Mostly, I love the guys that come here broken, sort their lives out then do a write up, I fucking love those coming of age stories.

Dicks like OP who stir shit up are pathetic losers. He started his post off ok, then just started making massive generalizations that I don't believe to be true about red pill ideology. I honestly believe if people here were advocating being mentally abusive they would be harshly criticized. The worst thing TRP encourages is plate spinning, about which no one is encouraged to lie, but to be honest if anything! The abusive domineering relationship crap OP talked about I'm yet to see, and would like sources of gtfo.

[–]FloggedPanda 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Can plate spinning while not being in a committed, monogamous, long term relationship the worst of us? Then I'd say we're ten times less deceitful than most social idealist groups. Trp has at least tripled my self esteem and unclouded a lot of judgment calls I wouldn't have been able to make on my own... Aka I'm becoming a man, and my own man at that.

[–]LukeMooney 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't think there's anything wrong with it (plate spinning) I just think it's the most taboo subject encouraged here. I really like enjoy spinning plates, its good fun, keeps things fresh, and I don't lie about doing it.

I don't get it. I don't understand the apparent Reddit-renowned hatred for TRP. This guy got gifted gold 25 times.

TWENTY-FIVE TIMES.

I've never seen that before. The amount of traffic and the amount of support a post has to get to reach that is on a scale I've not yet seen here on Reddit.

With that out of the way, I have no idea where he got the idea that we're here to emotionally abuse women and make them suffer. It's literally like everyone who criticizes TRP and says we're women-haters simply hasn't even looked at it once. Not even once. Nobody would have that reasoning if they knew what TRP was really a place for men to self-improve and become the man they want to be.

Since when is having sex with a great guy for a night, or being in a "red pill" relationship with someone who they are attracted to, who gives them space, who leads his own life, who she is attracted to, making her suffer? The fact that this post got so popular is blowing my mind. If nothing else, I can just hope that everyone who commented and is going with the hivemind is doing just that for karma.

Otherwise, if it's representative of people's opinions, then the world is a lot more blue-pill and blind to the truth than I thought. We still have our work cut out for us boys, if we're to not lose the entire world in blue obscurity. I'd have posted this as a reply to the EMSK post, but I know it'd have been blindly downvoted into oblivion. How sad...

The worst part is that RP does not advocate emotional abuse so he is attacking a straw man the whole time; all this time everyone reading his post thinks that TRP now = emotional abusers who try to use girls for sex

They couldn't be more wrong but they are too close minded to do some research of their own.

It's much easier and more convenient to take what he says at face value, toss him an up vote (or a reddit gold if you are feeling super edgy) and call it a day.

Yeah, I always tend to underestimate how bad the world is in terms of stupidity. If you know something you assume other people also know. It's called the curse of knowledge. Relevant to so many things. I admire people who try to educate the masses, but I feel overwhelmed whenever I try, so I just don't. It's their fucking problem. Stupid people are easier to compete with. But on the flip side, they tend to unite against smart people and outnumber them. Just out of insecurity. So the smartEST people pretend to be stupid, while in the meantime ACTING smart. Sadly I'm not on that level yet. Wish I could be, but it just feels so unnatural...

I view Red Pill as more of a counter strategy to the stuff that women have been doing for 50 years. 99.9% of relationships use some form of sexual strategy and power struggle. You're a sucker if you don't at least educate yourself.

On TRP censorship

Effectively we have no time to debate we're here to teach and you can pick and choose what you like. You don't go into a Muslim mosque to undermine Islam or a Jewish synagogue to argue about Judaism, or a feminist club to call feminism bullshit. The people there have a set of beliefs, it is assumed if you are there then you do too. If you want to turn everything into a debating society and take up everyone's time with the debate process, your flagrant contempt for the ideas shared via the academic antagonism of constant debate and interrogative lines of questioning will not be tolerated and you will find yourself cast out.

The person on the attack (asking the questions) takes the mighty position of assuming their disbelief must be placated. Our policy is if you don't like or believe in the shit we say, then fuckoff and leave us to get on with what we're doing, we don't try to recruit or get people to join us, we let the things we teach speak for themselves. If it works for you and you believe in it as a result, fucking great. If you don't? We don't care. If we always have to justify ourselves to your intellectual whims, it makes us seem like we have something to answer for and that we need to placate you, which we don't. Our policy of not doing this, and silencing people who persistently ask such questions in order to undermine the sub is a necessary evil, censorship of such characters is a lesser evil than allowing these people to overrun the sub with their "concern" and their "doubt" and their semantic academic ponderings and aggressive conceited pedantry hidden by nothing but a veil of sophistication.

This my friends is why TRP censors dissent in the main sub. If you have an honest question/confusion about TRP, that is why /r/asktrp[2] was invented. You have no plausible grounds for your weak claims of unfair censorship and the bullshit hyperbolic construction that TRP is a cult as a result of the treatment you received, that my friend stinks of butthurt and is what is known as a slippery slope argument.

[–]nottraceable 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Fine example here. How can you learn if you can't reflect upon the material? What you are proposing is not learning, it's memorizing.

[–]randomtask2005 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You read to memorize. Then you comment to learn. And then, when you feel strong enough in your beliefs, you only chime in once and a while.

It's not censorship, it's simplicity. There are plenty of other subs that hold the opposing point of view to this sub. All the mods are saying is go there if you are going to troll.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not a problem of this specific sub, but a general human flaw.

[–]DrakeSaint 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's pretty troubling to critique something which confirms itself truth in a daily basis, from different corners of the world, and sometimes even different people.

For instance, I've defended through some posts and even a topic that masturbation and video games are no demons, though moderation, like everything in life, should be accessed. But sometimes TRP takes a man's mind from one extreme to the other, giving birth to stuff like no-fap, which clearly makes no sense from a true TRP mindset perspective.

[–]colovick 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Informed discussion of the material and critique is allowed and encouraged. If your post shows a blatant lack of knowledge on the subject that could be answered easily by the sidebar, your question belongs on /r/asktrp and/or will be down voted for detracting from the discussion.

[–]codeverity 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

There's a lot more to his post than that, he also points out how some of the stuff that's advocated here is downright emotionally abusive. A healthy part of any movement is recognising your fringe elements and avoiding them, not embracing it all without analysing it.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

There's a lot of stuff here that's manipulative and dirty, like the suggestions that men should hold their ability to leave over a woman's head all the time, that women should never be left to make decisions, that you need to treat them like children, etc, etc.

Setting aside the emotionally abusive stuff, go and look at the imgur album that's floating around of the stuff that's been said here. There's a lot of misogynistic stuff that gets posted here.

[–]TheSKSpecial 4 points5 points6 points 12 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

that women should never be left to make decisions

Actually, we say that women don't want to make decisions and prefer men who do.

Don't believe it? If you've been in a relationship you've probably had this conversation:
"What do you want to eat?"
"I don't know, what do you want?"
"How about pizza?"
"No I don't want pizza."
"How about chinese?"
"I don't like chinese."
"How about McDonald's?"
"Eww no."
"So what do you want?"
"I don't know."

And round and round you go until you finally decide for her (with about a 50/50 chance she won't be happy no matter where you go).

That's what we mean. So we say be assertive and make the decision, because she won't.

[–]codeverity 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

That's hardly unique to women. I've met plenty of men who have trouble deciding on things, but you don't see women going around saying that men can't and shouldn't be allowed to make decisions. Like, if you want to just pick a food, fine. If you just apply this to every single woman you meet without finding out what she's actually like then there's a problem.

[–] TheSKSpecial -1 points 0 points 1 point 12 years ago   (6 children) | Copy Link

It's more prevalent in women than men, and you keep saying women shouldn't be allowed to make decisions when we said no such thing.

What's the problem with applying "be assertive, make decisions" to every woman you meet? If you're out with a woman you want to date/fuck/whatever and she takes offense to you being assertive, so what? Move on to another one. It's your preference.

[–] codeverity 1 point 2 points 3 points 12 years ago   (5 children) | Copy Link

Have you seen some of the comments here? It's definitely applied unilaterally by some people, and that's what I'm referring to.

But you should be getting to know the woman before applying that universally. I mean, you're suggesting that all women be treated the same and then you wonder why the rest of Reddit says TRP is sexist.

[–] colovick 0 points 1 point 2 points 12 years ago *   (2 children) | Copy Link

There's a lot of consequence independent decisions if that's what you're referring to... The concept that you decide how to live your life and tell women they're welcome to tag along... It's hardly sexist to say that you don't care if they're there or not. It might hurt their feelings, but upsetting a woman is not equal to being sexist.

[–] codeverity 0 points 1 point 2 points 12 years ago   (1 child) | Copy Link

Please show me where in my comment I said that taking or leaving women is sexist? I didn't say that at all, I was talking about the attitude of "I will treat all women the same". Men on reddit frequently say that not all men should be treated the same, yet the other commenter was saying that it's fine to treat all women the same.

[–] colovick 0 points 1 point 2 points 12 years ago   (0 children) | Copy Link

You did say what you claim and I was elaborating on the theories you claim are sexist. We advocate treating all women the same because so women are capable of doing things that can seriously ruin your life first off, and second it serves the purpose of letting them decide if they are a match for you and if they want to live your lifestyle. There's still nothing sexist about using a method for determining if someone fits the criteria for what you want in a woman. Having a preference is not sexist.

[–] TheSKSpecial 0 points 1 point 2 points 12 years ago   (1 child) | Copy Link

By that logic, women should give every man a chance to get to know them. No matter how short, fat, ugly, nerdy. or socially inept the man is, women should give them equal chances. And yet, women aren't beating down the doors at Comic Con to get at those lovable neckbearded geeks, are they? Why not?

We're suggesting men treat all women the same until they prove they're worth being treated differently, the same way men treat other men the same until they prove they're worth being treated differently. There's your equality. That's treating women like people.

[–] codeverity 1 point 2 points 3 points 12 years ago   (0 children) | Copy Link

"Take charge and make decisions" =/= "treating women like people".

Both men and women do judge by appearances, but that's not really related, IMO.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

like the suggestions that men should hold their ability to leave over a woman's head all the time,

actually its not adviced to do it all the time. it would lose its effect if you did it often.

perhaps you mean dread game? if other women are interested in you, that will drive the interest of your partner up and she will treat you well to keep you as she knows that you are attractive and there is competition.

how is that dirty? its no different from /r/relationships telling guys not to care that their GFs are friends with men who hit on them. its the exact same thing as women saying "we are just friends", and "just trust me!".

that women should never be left to make decisions

that also is just straight up not true.

plenty of times are men who ask for advice told that they cant force a woman to be faithfull or do the right thing and instead they are told they should just let those women do their thing and move on and find a different woman who offers what one is looking for...

that you need to treat them like children, etc, etc.

always in the context when a woman behavles like a child she should be treated like one.

Emotional manipulation is not a healthy basis for a relationship. Many more than "just one person" know this. If you can get past the part where he singles out this sub and actually evaluate what is said on an unbiased level, there is some good advice in there.

[–]DrakeSaint0 points 12 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

Any manipulation which brings benefits for both parts is good. Which the guy completely misses out in his post.

TRP is one of the rare types of mindsets which clearly states you should manipulate for best interests of both parties. There are no cons in being with a TRP'er, because a true TRP'er wouldn't give two fucks if you're out. Breaking someone emotionally includes giving them zero chances of a way out, and it's always clear as water in almost every TRP post I've came across in this sub.

[–]ACC0007 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I wouldn't go so far as to use absolutes. The very meaning of manipulation implies dishonesty; you cannot separate the two. What ends brought about by dishonesty could not be brought about through genuine caring about the needs and state of mind of your partner? While manipulation can work for a while (especially the more damaged or dependant the manipulated is) a lot of people eventually grow to a point where they appreciate and need a relationship based on mutual respect. This is a decision "not to play the game." Actions are based on honest opinions and honest feelings. This doesn't mean bending to every impulsive whim of your partner and expecting them to return the favor. This means that sometimes respecting each others needs means one of them can't be completely met without conflicting with another. The capability to recognize this and move forward from it can ultimately determine if you and this person are compatible or not. Inevitably most people in long term relationships will at one point be confronted with the need to change a behavior for the sake of their partner, no matter how compatible they have been. If the relationship is balanced around mutual honesty and both members have genuine concern and respect for their partners, this will be happening to both of them, not one or the other.

Of course, manipulation CAN work. I won't dispute that. But there is something better out there and it isn't dependant on having a damaged or needy partner. Manipulating someone to love you isn't as satisfying anymore after you have experienced honest love. It may be "enough" if you aren't at all interested in the personal growth required to easily earn genuine respect in the relationships in your life (this applies to any person you have to interact with, not just your romantic interests) but at the end of the day, shitty people attract other shitty people. Damaged behavior attracts people who don't want their own damaged behavior challenged.

Does it really qualify as /r/emsk material though? I'm not even part of this place, I just knew it would be the one place I might be able to vent about it being a sort of mass-appealing circlejerk rather than something every man should really know, like how to start a campfire. Looks like this thread is getting brigaded anyway though. We've both got the Cross of Controversy.

TIL I'm subscribed to the red pill

[–]legauge 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There's one thing that the guy has completely wrong, and it's the main argument in his rant, is the sexual strategy.

In short, his definition of TRP sexual strategy can be taken from his test as:

What the Red Pill strategy does is flip that power dynamic on its head. When it works, now it's the man who is in power and the woman who is suffering.

It is inherently wrong. He assumes that "power" - a wrongful usage of the word, in my opinion - in a relationship lead by a man is absolute: all or nothing.

In the following sentence, his belief of a RP relationship goes like this:

The man gets the sex without having to commit any real effort to the relationship, aside from making sure that his SO's emotions are brutally crushed on a regular basis.

I believe that a TRP relationship is one of male leadership for the benefits of both the man and the woman. The man leads and the woman willingly follows, and as a result, they are both happy.

However, the poster believes the RP man to be an emotionless beast that wants his dick sucked on whenever he wants. That a RP relationship is one of woman slavery and male indifference.

He believes leadership to be a "do as told or get out." However, that is not leadership. That's bossiness. The best way to describe the difference is with this picture.

A leader listens to those who follow him and takes their needs and/or desires into account before acting. In short, a leader works for the benefit of the group, or this case, the relationship.

A boss is the opposite. Instead of "do and be rewarded," it's "do or get punished." Personally, I don't believe someone in a relationship should be punished.

Now, I know that TRP strategy includes dread games. For any surface observers, it's a terrible thing to do. However, they don't understand that the point of the dread game. To keep the woman entertained, she needs to be reminded that nothing is set in stone. It's their own little drama show and they love it because it presents them with occasions to keep a spotlight on herself.

I'm not as experienced and knowledgeable as the more seasoned posters on TRP, but that's basically what I take from it all.

Really though, you read these posts and it very quickly becomes clear that the poster does not understand what TheRedPill is.

They say we hate women, meanwhile we're here learning to become the best possible versions of ourselves, not because we hate women, but instead because we love them.

We learn that we don't need to seduce, instead we become so valuable in and of ourselves that the women in our lives desire to be a part of our growth and wilfully submit themselves to a man that is in charge and leading his own life.

We learn that we can do great things, bring satisfaction and happiness not only to ourselves but to those around us, without the need for a women. WE DO NOT NEED a women in our lives, but since we're all here I think it's safe to say the vast majority of us want one. Women don't make us who we are, they elevate us to a new level, and if they bring us down they are more than welcome to leave.

Is being a self-made man that brings value to his own life considered manipulation, or abuse? I think not.

But then it goes to way too far, linking to articles about how women shouldn't vote

Some people clearly don't understand we link satirical articles from RoK and even WE don't take said articles seriously. Jesus.

[–]redpillshadow 8 points9 points10 points 12 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

The women shouldn't vote articles aren't satire. Neither are the threads stating thoughts about limiting vote rights further than that (to land owners).

Don't jump that fast to that lazy "it is satire" defense. If you don't agree with it state it but don't try to redefine what theredpill is. Sure sounds like NAFALT.

[–]Sturmgeist781 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

If you don't agree with it state it but don't try to redefine what theredpill is.

So TRP now is against woman's right to vote and own land? I'm not redefining shit but apparently you are.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

There was a very popular post a while back about this. Granted, there was much skepticism and it was controversial.

It was titled (because I can't link due to rules): Divorce Rates: Just 1 Reason Why Women Should Have Never Been Allowed to Vote

[–]Sturmgeist781 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yea, that's pretty fucking extreme. I think I recall reading it and just closing it after a few paragraphs.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Unfortunately it is what people use to portray this community. Normal people don't use extremes to generalize an entire community, but this is what TRP faces. You won't win these people over.

[–]DankSinatra 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

of course we do! look at public perception of religious people, of political activists, of fraternal organizations, of literally any like-minded group following some semblance of dogmatic ideology - they're all generalized by their extremists.

its an issue of public discourse, and I'd agree a flaw. hardly unique here, though

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, but I hardly consider those people normal. :)

[–]Endorsed Contributorzyk0s 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Preventing women from voting is a political opinion. It may not be a popular one, you may think only extremist can hold it, it is still, in essence, a political opinion. TRP is not about dictating politics, but about understanding truths about human nature, specifically as it relates to interactions between the sexes. When looking for answers, one should not be afraid to ask difficult questions. If the question is truly pointless and distasteful, the answer will reflect that. If it doesn't and you're not happy with the answer, you probably were not completely committed to the truth.

[–]redpillshadow -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Those articles on RoK are not satire. Those threads are not satire.

Voicing ideas like that is part of theredpill (the subreddit) and the manosphere.

[–]Sturmgeist781 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Not everything that comes from RoK is TRP. Lots of extremist shit over there can be genuinely honest from the author.

However, when was the last time you saw a thread here on this sub dead simliar to one of those extreme RoK articles?

Voicing ideas and being honest is TRP/Manosphere but it doesn't define us as a whole when one guy says "Fuck these cunts, they shouldn't vote and should be in the kitchen making sandwiches and cleaning my house."

[–]DankSinatra 3 points4 points5 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I lurk here and I've seen far-right, ultra nationalist, and/or racist shit get posted fairly frequently. it disappears quickly, for what that's worth, but I think it's obvious that the rhetoric here attracts some fringe people.

[–]Sturmgeist781 -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Simliar to how women subreddits or women blogs attract the fringe feminist extremists.

I personally dislike far-left/far-right bullshit when it gets posted here but I don't report it because people should be able to voice their opinion here. How we react to the validity of their opinion is up to us. I haven't seen too many woman-hating threads lately. Most of us love women but hate how they behave.

It is what it is.

[–] [deleted] -2 points -1 points 0 points 12 years ago   (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]mctoasterson 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That EMSK post assumes that both parties in a relationship are even consciously aware of (or wish to be aware of) the psychology behind their decisions. In my experience, most people (of both genders) can't be bothered to think about the reasoning behind their own decisions. After all, it's easier not to.

In both short and long term relationships it is entirely possible that one party doesn't want to get into the psychology of it. He or she may just want to act impulsively or instinctively.

So does that mean the other person should choose to do the same as a courtesy? I don't think so. Personally I would like to better understand my dynamic with other people and understand my own reasons for certain behaviors, so I can possibly choose better behaviors and increase my net happiness (and even my partner's net happiness). If both parties of a relationship aren't thinking about the subtext and mechanics of their interactions, that doesn't automatically imply "emotional abuse" by the party that is thinking about it.

People have realized benefits from increased scientific understanding of human behavior in virtually every area. But in sexual and relationship strategy, we aren't allowed to use this knowledge because it's "abusive"? My ass.

[–]SariaLystra 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think how he represents TRP is fair(er). Its not that we're flipping the dynamic on its head: its just that we're treating women as human beings. In essence, that might be "emotional abuse" to normal people because normal people hold women to a different standard than men (which would be sexism). In fact, if you held a woman accountable the same way you held men accountable, you'd be labeled a misogynist. That's where he's coming from: he doesn't see his own bias.

But more to the point, he is right about true love. For us, its more about playing a power game more than anything else. We get a woman to submit to us by breaking her power and, as he points out, we probably wouldn't do that to the person we love. Yet that's just the price we pay for The Red Pill. TRP just creates a model that works for 90% of the women out there. There are those 10% that it doesn't work on and most likely, you'll find true love amongst those 10%. Whether you want to trash the model on a 10% chance is up to you.

[–]Jar_of_apples -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It's interesting that it just "happened" to get an amazing 28! golds for the post. I think there's some pretty clear vote manipulation, and outside groups who planned this post, and decided to throw a lot of money at it to get it up in the ranks. This is far too unlikely and extreme of an occurence to have just naturally occured inside reddit.

Yess it seems the "manosphere' for lack of a better term is attracting a lot of attention, and attempts to keep the population blind are ramping up.

[–]ImFromHereDamnit 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Typical conflation of the tools with the intent. People yet again trying to defend their Disney fantasy when you can just look at the statistics and see how well that is working out in the divorce rates.

Just because you can use the red pill poorly does not follow that you will. In fact, the best advice here is centered mainly on self improvement and using red pill strategy to avoid/defuse the rampant abuse that comes from people attempting bluepill strategy beyond all common sense.

I barely read more than the foreword. What a bunch of bullshit. The premise that anything else than having game is no sexual strategy at all is faulty from the start.

Being The Nice Guy (tm) and trying to talk your way into girl's panties by being their subordinated, obese, disgusting and neckbearded orbiter while watching her swallowing alpha guy's jizz until she is about to get a proteine-overdose is no sexual strategy?

Indeed it is one. Just a very dumb and lazy one. And the only possible "positive" outcome is that they might one day fuck these sluts every three months while paying for them and their offspring, which - if they really are lucky - is also their offspring.

Congs.

[–]HitlersCow 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Phokus -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I consider myself partially redpill as i think it speaks to a lot of truths about human/female nature, but I think the community really needs to get rid of bitter elements of the community like Roisy/Chateau Heartiste and Roosh... way too much hate and bigotry from them, they are really a poor representative of the community. I think the guy who runs the rational male is a much better representative of the community. The other thing that concerns me is advocating 'dark triad' traits. No doubt that women fall for that bullshit like moths to a flame, but society would be even worse off if men started to act like that to get laid. You can improve yourself, gain alpha traits, maintain frame in the face of female bullshit without having to be a sociopath.

I don't think RM advocates them so much as merely acknowledges their existence.

[–] phantom_ranger -2 points -1 points 0 points 12 years ago   (0 children) | Copy Link

I think it should be said, that, at his core, Roissy is a stern, arch-logical moralist in disguise, which is typical of poets and essayists who induce mild-melting outrage in their immediate social environment. His schtick is basically one long reductio ad absurdum: given feminist liberation, here's the response you can expect/the behaviour that will be rewarded. His nostalgia for the alternative is obvious.

His "poolside" motif, ie, adopting what amounts to a nihilistic dark triad oriented sexual strategy, is a recurring theme on his blog because he clearly thinks society is on an irreversible path towards Big Gov Plutocracy (that uses and abuses feminism as a form of political pandering). Additionally, immigration and the cultivation of diversity will also be used to weaken the voting power of White American Males.

Frankly, do you see the history of progressivism in this country leading down any other path? Have the last eight years of governmental corruption, outright lying, and cynical voter manipulation not rendered you the least bit pessimistic over the fate of our political system?

"great post

when a women cheats, remember that she didn't mean to disrespect you. she was just vulnerable and was mentally abused by a RedPill Alpha. take her back with open arms and she will love you even more than before.

also, if your wife gets pregnant with another man's kid, suck it up and raise the kid as your own. the child is blameless and there is nothing manlier than raising another man's kid.

also, don't get in the way of your wife's needs. most of the time she needs your love, support, and income. however, there are times when she needs hot sex from a stronger man. you are unable to give her that. don't hold her back because you are incapable. instead let her fulfill that need. what matters is that at the end of the day she comes back to you. she will be happier and everyone knows "happy wife; happy life""

They don't want you to get laid. That sex you had with the girls was unfair to the girls (if you ask them).

Of course that's ridiculous. Women use a sexual strategy, isn't that what AFBB is? What about all the miserable betas, aren't they suffering from abuse?

The post just complains that perhaps our strategy can trump their strategy. It's marginally OK if we can reduce the effectiveness of their strategy or "call them out" on it. But no no no we're never supposed to quietly defeat their strategy with our own, that's not what they intended at all!

Bullshit. I know what love is. I had it for the first five years of my marriage. This experience is extremely common and discussed here. And therefore, I know what love isn't. When love isn't there, yes it's down to brass tacks and what works. Because I am capable of greater power and am worthy of it. Because I am less likely to frivorce her. And so on.

No idea what your first sentence tangent was about.

Everyone uses social/sexual strategy, it's just that not everyone uses it consciously. You can describe the personality traits that a charming or attractive man or woman as "strategies" and write them down in a book. Why is it unethical to take note of them and try to employ them if you're not naturally using them?

People compete for resources, including partners for sex and long-term relationships. You can do it ethically and you can do it unethically. I'm as disgusted by the guys who employ sexual strategy in an unethical way as anyone, but I think it's a little naive to act as though "just be yourself and good things will come" is realistic.
