Don’t fall into the black pill narratives. While I do think there is SOME truth to that ideology, you should stop, and look what’s going on in real life. As a guy who's been considered good looking in the past, I very strongly disagree. Good looks give you an advantage, but it's not all you need.

You still have to read subtle indicators of interest from women + know how to react. I was terrible due to a disability that makes it extra hard to read people.

You still have to be able to read when someone wants you to approach VS leave them alone.

You still need to manage your body language. Like if you're feeling sad due to loneliness, you cant let that show in your body language or you can look unapproachable. And it can affect how you're received if you make an approach.

I've had women reject me because I was hitting on them without realizing they werent interested.

You can be very handsome and average in every other way you’ll do well enough. You can be very tall and average in every other way, you’ll do well. You can be jacked. Or “financially secure”. Or have a ton of game and dress stylishly. You can own a house and a newer full sized pickup, you’ll do well. You can be average everywhere but fit the social niche she wants (country guy with a lifted pickup for example)

You do not need to score exceptionally well in every area. You only need one. That’s a lot of ways to get into the top 10%.

After that yeah, they’ll see everything you do as a positive if a girl gets hooked. That’s just her trying not to admit to herself what she really likes about you.

As a 31 y/o, life has taught me this is nonsense. I have a friend who is horseshoe bald, wears a hat all the time, doesn't workout regularly (sort of skinny fat), isn't very tall, and consistently has LTRs with very hot women.

Now to describe my friend beyond looks, he does well financially, has good style, an active social life, and travels regularly. He is also a nice and caring person.

I have "Chad" friends who do not do as well as this guy. They sleep with more women, but they are lower quality and don't stick around.

I have other instances of stories just like this.

I would say if you feel this way about yourself, try before joining the priesthood.

It’s an interesting topic. The one kid who I know who does best with women calls himself ugly and in terms of handsomeness he’s below average but tall. Has really good game. Girls are constantly punching him on the arm and have the bratty sister vibe. Me on the other hand I’m more handsome than him (though shorter) yet have had much less success with women because I don’t have a very good social circle to work from and not as social.

Pinning down the exact mechanism of attraction is difficult for me as a man, but looks are obviously important. However, in terms of my physique I’m in the top 1 percent of men and if I post a shitless photo of me at the beach looking jacked as fuck usually no girls DM me on instagram, sometimes maybe one or two very emotionally damaged girls do. If a girl did that her inbox would be full of DM’s from horny guys. When I directly ask for sex from women who I know are interested in me and who know I’m not a creep will still reject the offer, definitely unlike a man. My point is I believe it’s complicated. Attraction definitely works differently for women, but looks are still very important. Exactly what role they play is hard to pin down for me. Seems to play a gatekeeping role where a woman will give you a chance to play the game and make the game a lot easier if you’re good looking, but with men there is no game. If a hot girl wants to fuck, it takes literally no effort on their part. Different for women, and I know from personal experience that this isn’t related to security or being perceived as a slut. I honestly think a lot of it could be cultural with men and looks because I’ve talked to men who have been around the world and they say things like that in some other countries being a handsome pretty boy is actually a disadvantage and that a real man is considered to be a fat dude with jowls. However, girls have told me that when they date guys their friends think is ugly they will get made fun of quite harshly. I believe women’s perceptions of look are very malleable based on what society tells them is attractive and that it’s not quite as singularly objective like it is for men.

So, on the macroscopic level I can say that yes looks are important, but that attraction works differently for women.

Honestly I'm not one bit mad at women for this. It makes ZERO sense to hate women for something both genders do.

But at the same time, I really wish I wasn't given false hope. I could've accepted my fate and moved on. But after reading success stories about ugly guys getting amazing partners and indulging in self improvement, I convinced myself that even if I'm not that great in the looks department, I can work on other areas to be attractive. Good looks will never get you to the promised land. Unfortunately, some guys just refuse to get this. But, looks and game are not discrete items. It's all part of one thing, which is what you present to the world. You can't have good looks without game and expect women to be attracted. They won't be for the most part. There are always 'yes' girls, but outside of that looks will never attract women unless you have a personality that is attractive as well. Tons of good looking losers are out there, for lack of a better word.

I've been good looking all my adult life and I can tell you women aren't going to throw themselves at you because of your looks. It won't happen. There are a few exceptions, mainly from really fit tall guys with good genetics. Think of Sean Connery in the early bond films. If you look like that, yea then it could work. But, focus on communication skills. Its mandatory if you want a dating life and want to be attractive to more than just 'yes' girls.

You're thinking is way off base. You may be right that there are certain types of women who think the way you described; there are tons who don't. And look for a well packaged man. None of those traits above necessarily describe well packaged person.

Does he have a future? Does he have a job? Does he have ambition? Is he financially stable? How does he treat people? Is he emotionally mature? Is he fun? Can he communicate? How does it feel around him? Is he confident?

I know this from my own experience. I was once 300 pounds, and generally had not alot going on, and was generally treated like garbage by many females.

One year I decided to train for sports and lost 100 pounds, got some muscle on me, and being more involved in the community drove me to get the hygiene and dress in check.

Almost all these same females that treated me like a lower form of life one year later took it all back real quick started pouring on the compliments, touching, flirting, some wanted to hook up or start a relationship....

I did nothing to change my attitude, mentality, or personality. I was the exact same person, just happened to be healthier and better looking.

Not only.is being good looking the answear, a drastic and fast positive change in appearance is so powerful it can break the friendzone or even tame female enemies.

I'm an above average looking guy, some might say I'm attractive. I get many compliments at workplaces. But i had girlfriend only once, she broke up with me and went with a dude who was not as good looking. The reason is that I'm socially awkward and have a very low self-esteem. With this paralyzing low confidence it's extremely difficult to talk to girls. Girls who are interested in me loose interest when i open my mouth. My brother had a friend in HS who was about a smart as a brick but super hunky. The other guys in the friend group jokingly called him “bait” because all the girls would come to hang out when he was with them. The friend group got the overflow.

For me personally my self esteem has been shattered and while I’m working on it, I consider myself a solid 5 (I have indigenous features, bad skin, am kinda chubby and I’m not tall just to name a few things), I’ve been called a solid 7, but that’s a stretch.

What I’m trying to say is it seems like looks don’t matter when it comes to the people I see in relationships with people I consider attractive, but when it comes to myself, knowing where I’m lacking automatically disqualifies me from talking to girls I find pretty.

That's not to say having game doesn't help, but it's unlikely to make the difference if she finds you physically unattractive. And we know that women find most men physically unattractive from the OkCupid study.

But obviously you do have the power to become more physically attractive by losing weight, working out, dressing better, etc in addition to practicing your game by hitting on girls repeatedly. Change what you can change and don't worry about the stuff you can't (height, facial structure, etc.).

So … I just had coffee in a shopping mall for about 1.5 hours and, since I was alone, I chose a table facing the mall entrance and just looked at all the people going in and out. You’re not correct. There are a lot more “ugly” men (fat, bald, way underdressed, not groomed, even sweaty, wearing flip-flops, etc) with beautiful women by their sides. You don’t need to be handsome to get women, you just need to be a fucking proper human being.

I’m fat and I consider myself unattractive and I still get way more attention from women than I ever hoped for: just because I’m not a fucking sociopath and I’m generally a warm person.

I agree with you that being "good looking" matters but only to an extent. Looks, much like any other aspect of your characteristics are highly subjective, relative, and a viarable factor - NOT binary.

For example: You can be in the upper middle class but not filthy rich. You can have a great health record and be in shape but would get booed off stage at a Mr. Universe competition. You can have a lot of good friends but not be famous. You can be very intelligent but never win a Nobel Prize.

No different is the quality of "looks". You can be good looking but not a male model. You can equally be less good looking than the man to your right but much more handsome than the man to your left.

Each quality adds upon the rest. If you are severally lacking in one department, the other variables are there to pick up the slack. The ugly man who's wealthy, charismatic, intelligent, with a strong social circle will get more women than the highly attractive man without any other qualities. Do not make the mistake of believing somehow this one quality, looks, somehow trumps all other qualities.

The secret sauce here is that you must be actively working to improve ALL of these qualities to the best possible outcome, continuously. Much like Tony Robins says (roughly paraphrasing here) but: life is like a bicycle tire and each spoke represents a factor in your life; love, wealth, health, experiences, family, friends, career, etc. You need to try keeping each spoke as equal as possible for if you neglect too many your tire will stop spinning.

What constitutes as good looking? I think what we think of beauty has been changing all throughout history. I mean, the western ideal standards are super fucked for everyone. I know for women it is always being thin, having long hair, having light/tanned skin, having big breasts, big butt, small waist, large eyes, a small nose, and high cheekbones. This of course wasn’t always the case. You’re taught what is handsome too and so we’re all conditioned. I literally am in love with someone I see as handsome but you probably will think is ugly. I’ve dated some guys my friends would not and they’ve dated some I would not. So it’s all personal taste that develops differently for individuals but there is a standard pushed in society and for that, I’m sorry.. It’s like, everyone already acknowledges the beauty standards we abide by. but the point isn’t to point out that someone doesn’t abide by a standard but to like that person despite the standard. Because when standards are placed on beauty, then it is not attainable for everyone. If the standard of beauty is white people, then anyone of any other skin color does not meet that requirement. So they’re deemed unattractive? So they’re all called ugly because of somebody else’s shitty opinion? Someone else’s rules that nobody agreed to? Like, you’re supposed to fight against beauty standards and like people for more than the surface level. There is no council of women that decide what handsome is. We all have different tastes in people. It’s not one fits all. That’s stereotyping.
