My ex was a lawyer and made friends with one of the guys at his office and we became friends with the guy and his wife. The guy was 40's, well off, making around 200k. He was charismatic, pretty crude sense of humor, and not an attractive man. Think less wrinkly and totally bald Harvey Weinstein. His wife was hot. My first thought was, why is she with him? As I got to know them I found out she was just finishing up school to become a physician assistant, which is a pretty high paying job. He was paying for her degree.

Well, just before she graduated and got a job they bought a house together and began renovating. A few months after she graduated and got a job I hear about the guy's divorce. I never saw her again and don't know her side of the story, but he said he found her in bed with a woman after which she served him with divorce papers and took their dogs. So, they met, he offered to pay for her schooling, and after she was done she dumped him. He then did open mic nights joking about her leaving him.

His comedy career didn't take off.

So the fact you make the median income or something as an average guy might not be enough since she sees being poor as just a temporary state. Issue: Class and culture have become inextricably linked in contemporary U.S. culture. If you don't come from a working or lower class background, you won't fit in with someone who does.

Not to mention most people from poor backgrounds tend to be overweight or obese. They also tend to fall much easier into addictions both of the body such as drugs or alcohol and of the mind such as hoarding up 7-8 dogs and living in a filthy house as a result. Lower class women in particular also don't tend to be feminine, and are much more masculine even if they are politically conservative.

Lower class women aren't really a solution. If you aren't lower class and have standards, the overwhelming majority are going to repulse you.

Edit: this doesn't apply to lower class women from foreign countries with different cultural dynamics, however. Which is what makes passport bros increasingly successful compared to men trying to date domestically.

Lots of people are struggling right now to pay bills due to inflation and high COL. LOts of poorer women around to date. You may have issues finding them because many poorer people dont want to date. They are too stressed, work alot and don't have money for activities. However, this depends on the guy. If he wants to have leverage and doesnt mind that kind of power dynamic, sure.

Most men, around 75%, that I met wanted a financially stable woman, even ones I've met on the poorer side, so you'd be an odd one to me if you went through with this.

Yes. However, Average men typically cannot literally afford to date a low wage and low income woman. Especially if that low wage woman is on the traditional spectrum of their beliefs regarding relationships.

There is very much a culture associated with no income, extremely low income, and low income earners. For people who live life day by day, their priorities and way of thinking are on "survival mode". Which means that they don't often have a habit of planning for the future. Their lives typically revolve around working their ass off to get the bare minimum necessities, or by using social safety nets (constant sob stories or handouts from other people) in order to get by. Which means that on one extreme end of the spectrum you'll be in a relationship with someone who is working 2-3 dead end jobs that you rarely get to see or you'll be dating a manipulative freeloader with fucked up priorities.

Also with low income and poverty it's more likely to meet people with a disproportionate amount of trauma, even if nothing happened to them personally, many low income people are surrounded by horrible circumstances. Which means more than likely loosing a significant amount of friends/family to violence or drugs. And just witnessing horrendous tragedies consistently.

For argument's sake, let's say that an Average man making 40-50k meets a normal and sane low income woman earning $7.50 an hour. With the higher cost of living, this is extremely difficult. Typically the woman is going to be working long and erratic hours that cut into the couples ability to spend time together. So the man is going to get frustrated because his woman is rarely around and rarely has any availability to go on dates or spend time together. If they live together most of the economic burden will be on him to afford the finances associated with a larger space to accommodate two people, then car costs, insurance, utilities, etc. She may be able to help out with small purchase items such as groceries and internet services, however, the man will be disproportionately economically burdened, which is extremely difficult to do on his income. And typically they'll be stuck in a limbo where she can't afford to quit, but the man also doesn't make enough money to support her enough for her to get more education or training for a better paid job, so the cycle continues. Even if the woman does manage to get into school or skills training, it's further strain on the relationship due to her rarely being around because of long and impractical working hours.

While an average man dating a no or low income woman makes the most sense. It's typically impractical due to cultural differences, and often the man not realistically earning enough to supplement what the poorer woman fails to earn.

One of my exes was broke and didn't even have her own car.

It was sweet for a hot moment but I wouldn't recommend it because the entitlement can sometimes get out of hand when you keep buying things for them and doing them favors.

She would always ask me to give her rides to random places she felt like going to without giving me any gas money. Even when she got a minimum waged job, she refused to give me gas money for all the trips I took her on.

She'd also throw random house parties and ask me to buy all the alcohol.

And there'd be some other expenses that she wanted me to pay off for her.

She was a cute girl and all but it was stressful as fuck especially since I wasn't making too much money back then.

Relationships with poor/broke women can work but you need to make sure that their mentality is right in order to make it work out.

Doesn't work for several reasons. The first being, women's financial expectations in the dating marketplace are as deluded as everything else they want. She might bring minimum wage or unemployment to the table but she will still expect a wealthy guy with a 6 figure salary.

In the UK a man has the additional problem of trying to compete against the benefits system. Poorer women know how to play the system, so they aren't going to pick a beta provider over the bad boy who turns them on.

If you use your wealth to try to attract someone you may just end up attracting people who are only interested in your wealth or exploiting those desperate for a meal or a reliable place to live.

Also even people who would appreciate sharing the cost of rent with you and like you for you will often be turned off by you bringing up your income or showing of your wealth.

That seems to literally be the way how most men get women. That applies to all of my family (father much richer than mother, grandpa richer than grandma), all of the few women I have been intimate with (the betabuxxers they cheated on with me were way richer than them) and even to their families (their fathers richer than their mothers). I have only seen one counterexample irl, but that was with a dark triad dude who literally stole from her. And even then it might that I just don't know everything.
