I’ve seen the wall hitting men way worse than women

We notice it less because very few men are very attractive but dang, so many guys used to look so much better in their 20-30s than beyond.

The majority of men age like women do, maybe a few years after, unless the norwood reaper comes first

The wall is just aging. Aging people have declining romantic prospects for a variety of reasons. How stark this is (i.e. "aging gracefully" vs "hitting the wall") makes a difference in outcomes but it's not something you can choose to avoid. You can only choose to adapt to it or ignore it, but it happens nonetheless.

The flaw in the "men want younger women" theory is that until she hits extreme old age, a woman can always be someone's "younger woman." An "over the Wall" 40-year-old is still the "younger woman" to a 50-year-old man.

The main problem with the idea of the Wall is that is assumes that women wake up one day and suddenly they're old and unattractive. In reality it is more gradual.

That said, women absolutely become less attractive to men in general as they get older. And their dating prospects diminish. There's 3 reasons why women's dating prospects fall as they get older:

On average men find younger women more sexually attractive than older women. This has been shown in many studies, and it has always been conventional wisdom in many different cultures.
Men's sex drive diminishes as they get older. So a 45 year old man with lower testosterone isn't going to be motivated to pursue 45 year old women the way a 21 year old young man with a raging permarection is motivated to pursue 21 year old young women. A lot of 45 yo men would probably rather watch the football game than have sex with women (surveys have shown a lot of men say they would prefer to watch their favorite sport on Saturday or Sunday than have sex).
Men die younger than women, on average. So in the older age ranges women almost always outnumber men. If you look at the demographics of wherever you live, you'll typically find after maybe age 50, women will outnumber men. That means that even if every man paired up with a woman of the same age, there would still be surplus women left over.

The wall is real in the sense that people age, and men tend to prefer younger women because they’re highly focused on looks. That’s not a choice and there’s nothing anyone can do about it beyond taking care of themselves so they don’t age prematurely.

It’s fake in the sense that women suddenly wake up at either 25, 30, 35, or 40 (because nobody agrees on the age but it’s always a round number) and suddenly all their options are gone and they’re bitter old hags who have to either settle with a “beta” and pop out some babies asap or get a bunch of cats. While the men they rejected are supposedly 50, flirty, and thriving dating women in their 20s. That part is simply a revenge fantasy.

So, according to what you have posted on reddit, you, who has no contact with women or dating, who hates himself, everyone who is successful in dating and has a happy life, who gave up on himself and just sits at home speculating on what people who actually do date experience, says the wall is something women who are insecure or want children chose instead of it happening to them at a certain age or levle of physical decay. You think women, when they choose the wall due to their insecurities or wish for children, are not experiencing scarcity in mate choice as compared to before they chose the wall, but they just experience a change of priorities. Their own? What priority changed for a woman who is insecure, and when? She was insecure all her life, when did she choose the wall? Was she post-wall from childhood on? What priority goes along with insecurity?

This is not a debate dude, this is a fever dream of a guy how has lost touch with reality.

The wall doesn't exist. An older woman is still doing the selecting. They may start to lower their requirements and settle as they get older. Their value is still there and it is usually more value than the average man.

It depends I guess, I have a friend who at 25 barely has any dating success. She can't get dates and when she does, she tends not to like the guys, it's worth mentioning she's also very overweight in a country where she stands out a lot because of that.

Her mom is in her late 40s, aged 'gracefully' and she's dating around quite a bit with a variety of what you'd call high-quality men.

For me, the "wall" is defined as, all else equal, the point in where a woman BEGINS to CONSISTENTLY decrease in terms of S3GGUAL market value because of aging.

It does NOT mean personal value, career value, monetary value, etc. It is NOT a result. It is a PROCESS. A woman will not wake up overnight as a post wall "Karen." It does NOT mean that a woman turns into a bad person. Some women may reach the wall later. Some women at the wall may be more attractive than 20 y/o's. The wall can be delayed with proper diet and exercise.

There really isn’t a wall. Women of all ages still only want to date up. They will never accept or acknowledge their own decline. And as the dating market gets worse the value of these types of women will only be inflated even more pushing the wall further back if there even is one.

The wall from a greater pov is only truly relevant if a woman wants children - outside of that, sure, her looks will decline in her 30s, but not rapidly and as would men’s.

I think the difference is, once a woman hits her 30s, she can still be very attractive, but looking attractive alone isn’t gonna do it because there is a slight decline that will accumulate into her 30s - ie. most women will be far less attractive (even if still very attractive) in the looks department alone at 39 vs 30. That being said, that’s when she can make up for it in so many other ways. An insecure woman who doesn’t take care of herself in her 30s is probably gonna fade into the background, but, a woman who takes care of herself, is confident and gets to know herself primarily will still be successful at dating in her 30s.

Of course, a very similar concept exists for men, only difference is because men aren’t valued for their looks as much, their set of expectations differ greatly and that’s why successful men in their 30s do far better than most other men.

It does. It just means the price men are willing to pay decreases. If a post wall woman justs wants to come over and watch Netflix she's still welcomed. I just won't take her out to an expensive dinner first like I would for a younger girl.

I thought the wall originally meant a woman who has had children specifically. Like, she's not on the market she's a wife and mommy now.
