Personnally I have a few standards, like good fitness and health, healthy mentally, etc. This is the base, this is the bare minimum for me and anything under that is simply not worth it. I tried lowering my standards, and it backfired terribly. I am just ruthless because I wanna protect myself and that's ***okay***.

I prefer to be single than be unhappy and unsatisfied.

Males age terribly. All of the years of swilling beer, not wearing sunscreen and basically not giving a f*ck, they look like shit by the time they get to their mid 30's. My age range was mid 30's to early 40's when I used to use OLD and I was disgusted by their appearance 9 times out of 10. I'll be open to meeting a HVM in real life, but never again on OLD, mostly the gross ones are on there.

I'm 26 now and most men on OLD (I have the age filter for 25 to 31 men) have all of the following:

-obese / obviously overweight

severely balding / hatfish
pube beards/ duck dynasty mountain main unkempt beards (to overcompensate for balding)
they dress with no style: old t shirt, usually some cheesy or punny saying, gym shorts or sweatpants -uneducated /broke

The other common finds are gym rats and stoners.

My mom can't understand why I can't out myself out there and find "a nice guy". I gave ugly a chance one time and he admitted to me proudly that he ran into his ex and then gave her his schedule and told her they need to hangout soon.

The typical profile on these apps have dudes sticking out their middle finger, sticking out their tongue, shirtless selfie despite being shaped like a teletubby, posing with a dead animal like a caveman, posing near a fancy car that's probably not theirs, posing near a busted down hunk of metal they call car that actually is theirs, posing next to a group of girls in hopes of seeming attractive when really it makes them look desperate, unflattering angles, no fashion sense whatsoever, distasteful bios in hopes of sounding quirky when it really just makes them sound like an insufferable douche bag, married dudes lying about being married, dudes lying about their age, dudes lying about having kids etc

And soooooo much more. I don't blame you at all for not being attracted to these abominations called men 😭

I was curious about OLD so I made a fake profile just to take a look. I swiped and swiped and basically all I found were overly sexual douches, very angry looking “conservative Christian” MAGA dudes, anime/gamer types (no offense to the ladies here who are into those things, but It’s a huge turn off for me), hunters posing with their animal carcasses (barf), guys who might be decent looking if they tried even just a little bit- I’m talking bad haircuts, greasy hair, ill-fitting clothes, bad facial hair, etc., guys who look they have lived a life of hard drugs and too much alcohol and have never eaten a vegetable or drank a glass of water in their life, and a lot of BDSM/“kinky” weirdos.

It’s a cesspit. Would not recommend.

I think that at this point, they are making themselves revolting out of spite. Because if they are keeping themselves up, then they would be doing it for us. And they'll be damned if they will be such simps as to wipe their own ass or brush their teeth for a woman.

I would routinely go months and even could go a whole year without finding any guy attractive irl let alone on OLD. Cancelled my last OLD acct 2yr ago any thought of going back however fleeting, makes me shudder. Never again.

I also noticed that the ugly guys have the same personality and finance issues that the good looking ones tend to have too. So tell me what the benefit is for 'closing your eyes' and just giving a chance, when he's likely to be just as much or even more of an ingrate due to the ugly chip on his shoulder?

Straight men seem completely incapable of knowing how to take a good picture: lit and shot from below, in a dark, messy cave, monitor light washing them out, every single pore and blemish and wrinkle deepened and darkened, ill-fitting clothes and messy hair. Vom.

What's wild is that some of these men are thoroughly average in the daylight. They just don't care about how they look on OLD and think they look fine because the patriarchy hasn't fucked with their heads like it does with women who "need" to be flawless in images. If his pictures are low effort when they're trying to meet women, trust that they will be low-effort with women.

It seems even more so at the moment. I mean, if I find someone unattractive then that's my thing, I'm not about to berate someone because I don't find them good looking. But in terms of my standards and what I'm attracted to, they're either not my thing or I've already dated them. So taking a break seemed like the better option.

It's not just you, most guys on OLD are either whatever looking or downright ugly. I haven't used it in over a year and never will again, but it was rare to find a really attractive guy. Even more rare to find an attractive guy who didn't have a stupid fuckin profile. I RARELY see really hot guys IRL either. Honestly I didn't find myself very attracted to a guy w/ a desire to date him until I was 22. I live in a gigantic, very ethnically diverse city, so there's every kind of guy here. Just most guys aren't very attractive lol. I'm not picky either, and even if I was, what's it to anyone else? Isn't it better to be picky than be willing to date so many guys? A woman gains no benefit dating a lot of men. Stick by what you want! And my advice is to drop OLD. trying to find a good looking, genuine guy there is like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

Yep I swipe yes on one in every 150-200. Also for a while I thought I had my height wrong. I’m 175cm tall. But I’d meet up with men who said they were for example 180 but they’d be my height or shorter . Some even said to me ‘you’re taller than I thought’ and made me feel I’d lied. I measured myself again including at the doctor. Nope I was right about my height - it’s just they all lied about theirs then tried to make ME feel bad because it exposed their lies. Men say women shouldn’t care about height then lie about theirs and make me feel like shit? Fuck them. I own my own home, have a great six figure job, get my annual teeth and GP checks, exercise every day, have a spotless home, many hobbies. And I’m supposed to swipe yes on some guy age 35 who is actually 40 still in a share home smoking a bong in his profile pic or pulling the finger while counting gaming all day as a hobby? Fuck no. No. Being hygienic, honest and with normal photos is bare minimum and a if they can’t meet that I’ll keep living my fabulous life - alone, with my home, health and heart intact and not being ruined by a man child.

Men who are “normal” and decently attractive are getting messages from women on their social media already (or being set up by their friends) and don’t need to resort to OLD. If a guy hints that he is single on FB and he’s a catch, any women he is friends with on there are going to be messaging him or vice versa. OLD are for the guys who can’t get dates bc they have no friends (and there’s usually a reason they have no friends). Or they’re a sex addict player.

And lately I have noticed an uptick in men who are just rude. As soon as you stick up for yourself and hold your ground, they write “Bye”.
It used to be they would at least apologize if they made a faux pas. They are too full of themselves. They still do not get the number of responses and level of interest that we do. Arrogant pricks are revolting.

I think most guys just aren’t photogenic. There have been a few guys where I think “eh they aren’t repulsive I’ll give em a chance” and they actually are more attractive. But that’s only been a few. On the other hand some men might look good in their photos and aren’t attractive in person. So it’s a gamble either way

At this point I do now cause I’ve gained a ton of depression weight and so I rank lower.. when I was at my “peak” in looks and weight, I got a message from OKC saying I was in the top 10% of most attractive people on the app and at that point I saw tons of hot guys. It could be your algorithm.
