Brief intro: I've been having a problem/not problem where the vast majority of men that I meet for first dates (from OLD) take and FLAGRANTLY POINT OUT their issue with my reserved demeanour.

I am an introverted person. I take a long time to warm up to new people. I am not shy or nervous, but it can definitley be misconstrued that way if you're looking for it. I'm more selective and reserved - I'll smile and have good conversation, but you're not going to catch me belly-laughing and using extremely open body language within the first 15 minutes of meeting a man I don't know. I'll be pretty reserved, and sometimes can be a little unsure if i'm walking into a new restaurant and looking around for someone I don't know. It takes me about 3-4 dates to really start relaxing, and about 6 months for my real, silly, no-reservations personality to come through in a relationship. I have no issues with this.

HOWEVER, men seem to take WILD offense to this. I routinely get accused of being shy/nervous when i'm really not - i'm literally just reserved because I don't know you, dude. I went on a date last night and the man said I wasn't "giving him my full smile because I am shy" and he could "tell how scared and nervous I was when I walked in" - I wasn't scared, I couldn't tell where the damn balcony door was and it was dark so I was kind of assessing the room. Then after the date he immediately updated his profile with "looking for an outgoing girl with a big smile..." LOL. I'm just not extroverted, shiny, and beaming on first meetings and men seem entitled to want this behavior from me? What the fuck? What have they done to earn my comfortability and familiarity?

And what is it with wanting this instant connection, anyway? I feel disheartened because I feel like dating would be easier if I was quicker to warm up, but I certainly am never going to do so because some asshole told me to smile pretty and pressured me. It's almost like a negging technique and I'm criticized for this constantly. Have any other of my reserved ladies gotten this treatment?
