I wouldn’t say it’s “more or less agreed” that women only value status and finances when half of this very sub is arguments between men that women value looks over those other things, or that men need an increasingly large amount more wealth and status to make up for any lack in looks, etc.

And of course you don’t see the same issue with men discussing women, because you’re not a woman. It’s not your experience, so you don’t see the issues with the ways some men in these subs claim to “understand” women.

Some women understand some men. Some men understand some women. Everyone is a little different. There's not a lot even most of every gender have in common.

But I don't see "men" as a monolith. Men have collectively a different experience than me being a woman. But each man is different so theres no unanimous thing about men.

I like to think on an individual level I understand that particular man. Whether it be my younger brother. Or my romantic partner I can try my best to understand them and level with them.

I don't know if that makes sense.

Women know men want sex, lots of sex with a variety of women. All we hear about is men wanting hot young women and how they shouldn’t have to commit to only one woman etc etc etc. It’s not that women don’t know what men want it’s that women gave up on mens ridiculous demands especially when women aren’t being given anything they value back in return. That’s why women are less interested in dating than ever before. The illusion that made men attractive has been broken.

I understand that men are people and will all value different things. I understand some men value women not just for their looks, but also for their humor, intelligence and the company they can provide you with. I also understand some men see anything vaguely woman shaped and go ''this will do''.

On macro terms probably no, most people have a terrible sense of understanding of experiences that differ from their own.

Based on the things I read here about the female experience as written by men, I do not think this is a gendered phenomenon.

I think the averwge woman has a very poor ubderstanding of men. They just think they have a good one and will assert because they've seen popular movies aimed at men and had a couple of relationships that makes them an authority on male nature.

It often astoubds me how common bad takes by women on men are. People on reddit love to throw around come as you are as a comprehensive guide on female sexuality but it makes broad, sweeping statements about men that aren't really true at multiple points and operates from a default assumption that the reader resents men for being a certain way that its own data invalidates, but that that resentment is natural and universal.

Since I have been on the red pill, PPD, 4chan, and other websites for many many years I have a very negative take on male nature and negative takes on men.

My negative outlook of men didn’t come from women, but from MEN

From boasting about using women for hookups to calling a woman who isn’t a virgin “ran through” to insisting that their wife work full time and be a full time housewife (so do both home and professional jobs) with no domestic help at all to complaining about how fat and ugly we are to complaining how modern western women are horrible but then turning their noses up at good church girls who are traditional to being hostile to a plethora of other things……

I get a negative outlook on men as a result. I get turned off, scared away, and want to be on my own.

Plus I got zero, no male attention at all until my late 20’s. Every time I would ask in male spaces why I wasn’t being asked out or having guys like me I would be told “WELL YOU ARE PROBABLY FAT AND UGLY BECAUSE ALL WOMEN HAVE MEN FALLING OVER THEMSELVES TO SIMP FOR THEM”. I internalized that message. Now I am actually fat and ugly and men are obsessed with me and I look at my skinny, beautiful, pre wall pictures and say “wtf why didn’t anyone like me then but now they do?”

This isn't really an answer to your question, but as far as i know, women DO value looks, but a lot end up seeing money, status or a good personality as compensation for a lack of good looks. Physical attractiveness signifies good health (among other things), and if women were to choose between an attractive successful man and an unattractive successful man, they would most certainly pick the first option. I think its just that valuing looks is seen as shallow, which is why a lot of women say they don't care about what someone looks like.

Do some women understand some men? maybe some do, maybe not, depends on alot of factors: psychological, class, gender, childhood, etc.

In general, have to figure if there's anything biologically wired, the science, that predisposes women to understand, or not, men and vice-versa

We both value the same thing, ego. Society told men that they're the best if they can get sex with hot women. Society told women they're the best if they can get a rich man who provides for them. The more ego driven someone is, the more these factors matter. If people could never show off the status of the partner they attained, we both would date much differently.

Generally they don’t. I’ve heard some funny points from different women, like “dating is easier for guys”, “looks don’t matter for guys”, or “guys don’t feel bad because of rejections “. Women online (and irl although less though) are more concerned with what men should or shouldn’t do rather than interested in what they want or how they work.

They want to feel attractive, strong and smart. They want loyalty and an attractive partner. They want to feel valued for themselves as a partner and not for what they provide though they feel an ego boost knowing that they can provide. They don’t want a lot of drama, and they want to feel like they are the best in the eyes of their woman and that it can’t be changed.

If you can make a man feel all these things he is yours forever.

I don't think it is about women not understanding men, but rather women projecting their values on to others. For example, a career woman will say that a man should love her because of her job and education, these are the things that she values from a man and she wants a man to value the same things from her.

Another slightly off topic example is how some woman live in the world of "should". I should be able to do ABC without DEF happening. Well, if you do ABC, DEF is most likely to happen, whether it should or not.

Women do not understand men because they generally do not have to. In order for a man to get a woman, he has to have a general understanding of what women like and what he needs to do to get and keep her attention. A lot of women are under the impression that men are exactly the same as women, but are socialized to be domineering macho types who love to put down women.

Except for the “thirsty for sex” part, I don’t think that they usually understand men at all. Men try to understand women more than women try to understand men because many men think that understanding women will give them a better chance to have sex. For women, the motivation to understand men just isn’t there as much.

Men who care mostly about appearance kind of make me sick, and that's often the nature of men. We can't impose traits into others.

Women usually work with a long list of minimum requirements. You won't date many people if you are missing front teeth, no matter how rich you are. Once all the minimum requirements are met (and height is one of them), then she can entertain the idea that the man's advances are welcome.

Resources is certainly one of the requirements, but it usually gets priority after they are 25. If a young guy has a reasonable expectation to be employed (good college, for example), it's good enough for young women.

Men are the same when it comes to dating, we are just more flexible with the requirements and we don't have a laundry list. Fertility is usually the single non-negotiable, if the guy wants kids.

I think a lot of women pathologize men and men’s sexual attraction.

For example, you mention “so try to stay in shape it’s basically all we ask for”. A lot of women hate the idea that men like women’s bodies. However, it’s really NOT that shallow. If a woman is a healthy weight there are usually TONS of guys willing to give her a chance. A guy at a healthy weight, on the other hand, most likely won’t have tons of women willing to give him a chance. Who’s really the shallow one?

This relates to the RP theory that feminism is a sexual strategy for women. It’s based on the idea that feminism will bypass “gender equality” and go right along to ensuring the dominance of women’s ideal sexual/mating preferences over mens’.
