I’m not one to defend men, but if you’re going to make your world views based solely from the men on here who can’t get laid and cry about shit like not getting a hug in 9 years, and the nut cases on FDS, you’re going to be very miserable and misled. I know tons of men with kids. Some married, some single, some divorced. Absolutely none of them feel this way about their kids. Even with the ones with the most bitterest of divorces, they still have a level of respect for the woman for carrying their child in this world and love and wanted their kids and get joy and fulfillment from raising them. Don’t take the views of men who will probably never have kids as they can’t even get their fucking hand held, and women who will never attract the kind of men who don’t think this way to heart. Everyone on both of those extremes are very angry, and they don’t realize their dating struggles could all be fixed if they would just fuck each other and stop trying to impose their ridiculously toxic views on us.

Child rearing is a joint activity. If you're point scoring and demanding you're always right about everything because you carried the baby then you're going to have an absolutely terrible relationship. It isn't about not having respect for your wife it's about not acting superior to your husband. Ok so one thing to consider is that certain subreddits don’t reflect the entirety of a group they may represent, especially dating type ones will select for men who are already struggling in that area.

That being said, I think you’re picking up on something that does happen sometimes, however I don’t think it’s an inherent perspective that men hold, so much as one that we adopt because of media representation and the fracturing of the family/lack of family time leading to boys not relating to their moms as well.

For myself, as a former homeschooler, I can say if I had to pick between being a SAHM and working a 9-5, I’d pick 9-5 everytime because I know just how much my mom had to do. Traditionally “female” work is usually invisible, it’s maintenance, preparing meals, raising kids, keeping a home, and even a lot of more customer facing jobs require a lot of constant attention to details to basically make it look like nothing happened. You dont have a new app or a road built at the end of the month, but the house is standing and the children aren’t dead. I honestly don’t think a lot of guys realize how much work that is until they have to do it themselves. In which case we get the “bachelor pad” and “latchkey kid”.

Anyways, that’s just an abstract theory. I don’t have disdain for women, and I know a lot of guys who don’t either. When women are “going on” about makeup or their favorite tv shows that I don’t care about, I don’t insert myself or feel the need to have an opinion or judgement. That’s their thing, and it’s no more ridiculous than installing leds on my truck or buying an Xbox game.

Personally, I like the things that make us different. The push and pull of different personalities is what makes life interesting. Thinking less of women or men or any other group of people because they have different drives, passions, and preoccupations is really just a sign of immaturity and maladaptive thinking IMO.

It's not a disdain, but it's an inherent sense of superiority, or alternatively - sense that women are weaker and more frail. It's not hard to notice that men's arguments vs women at some point have that "but you are a woman" line. When describing men, any adjective or comparison to women, e.g. "you punch like a girl" is seen as derogatory.

But it's not like this only has negative connotation. Because of women's weakness men feel the need to protect women and shelter them from danger.

I feel like most husband's are appreciative of there wives who have kids and try to be sympathetic and understand when their wife is pregnant but just don't fully grasp what a burden it could be.
Anecdotally it seems like more men than women tend to be more indifferent to having kids and do end up having kids because it's what their wife wants.
I feel like people just tend to mostly focus their own struggles and suffering and have an easier time projecting their own feelings onto people that have a more relatable background to their own.
Men in this sub tend to have a very specific mind set and I would not hold them as a representative of the general population.

In a world that is built and maintained by men, women's sacrifice and suffering is aliviated and tended to on a systemic level. It is not a perfect system but it does give women a lot. Men care about women and the evidence for that is that you are not men's slaves. And you could be if men wanted to. You couldn't stop it. Women don't return the favour. Any kind of power that women weild, they use it for their benefit and their benefit alone. Men use the power they have to give women the right to vote, the security to walk on the streets with a security level unseen and unheard of in history.

Men, especially on this sub, while they say that women are heartless, unsympathetic and refuse to see the plight of men.

I personally think that they tend not to be good people because even if they see the plight of men they will do nothing about it.

Look around you and see everything artificial around you. Everything you see, and the energy you can't see but keeps what you see working. All of that is built, mantained and transported by men doing what they can to do good for their wives and kids. That kind of luxury is not the things you give to people you have disdain for.

As the father of three very wanted children, I think it's a pretty broad brush to paint with to generalize all men based on what you observe from the man-children in this sub and on Reddit.

I've been a stay at home dad. I've also worked while my ex went to school and raised our kids. Working is by far the easier of the two.

I've seen how difficult is is for mothers to balance children and career. The sacrifices women make to raise children in this world, especially in the US without much state help with childcare, health insurance, maternity leave, etc.

I've seen what an episiotomy looks like in real-time (twice!)

There are a lot of disgruntled and misogynist men here, they are often the most vocal and obnoxious, but don't let their childish antics create the illusion that there aren't men who both acknowledge our own difficulties, while understanding the real and sometimes very imbalanced difficulties of women, and who not only want to raise children, but raise them specifically not to engage with the world the way far too many of the boys (I hesitate to refer to them as men) on this sub and large portions of Reddit do. I'd wager that in the real world, these boys are the minority.

its not that child rearing is a nothing burger, its just that when you are sending your kids to school for most of the day and you are getting your life financed for you by someone else that job just isn't equivalent to a full time job, especially a well paid one.

Its not that no man wants children, its that when people think of kids the connotation is always infants and small kids but men and women get value from being parents at different times. Women get most of the parental value out of raising their kids when they are infants to young children, whereas men get most of their parental value past then and arguably quite a bit more in young adulthood.

No the argument isn't that men are the only ones suffering. The argument is that women don't ever address the advantages they get in society. Its also that that society doesnt care about men's problems, as the common understanding of gendered issues is that men and masculinity are at the cause for all of them, when in reality a lot of men's problems have nothing to do with masculinity or are actually caused by women and femininity; and so therefore never get talked about or properly addressed at all.

As much I understand how someone can reach this conclusion looking at certain news or reading certain parts of the internet, I think it's pretty unfair to take this as the rule for men.

Get out the internet, interact with men in real life... are them really like that? You father? Brothers? Cousins? Friends? Random colleagues at work?

From my perspective, most men are quite nice and trying their best, and they tend to a lot of times take a lot of responsibility because they seem themselves in this provider/protector role.

A lot of times their mistakes are simply because they don't know better because they grew up in a society that look down on their feelings, or straight up puts them in legal disadvantage in certain aspects (where I am from, paternity leave is 5-20 days, while maternity leave is 120-180 days; legal guardianship is automatically given to mothers, how do you want a guy to be as invested in child bearing as a woman?).

Yes, there is misogynist men. Yes, there is violence against women. Yes, there is fathers abandoning or neglecting their children... but are the majority of men doing that? Nope.

I can't really change your view because I think the only way to create a more positive image than the one pushed by radical discourse on the internet is to really go yourself create real bonds with people and find out yourself that we aren't really that different, and that is really unfair to group so many people under this villain label.

Women do have the burden of having to carry and deliver children, I completely acknowledge and appreciate that. That said that biological reality is also why women get to be the choosers and are afforded a certain level of privlege that is not available to most men.

Also as a father and a man with options I am also sacrificing my genetic potential, my time, and my resources in order to raise the children that my mate delivered. Yet this is never acknowledged as a sacrfice and is implicitly expected by society at large (however my wife does in fact acknowledge it both with words and with actions). Let’s just all appreciate what your partner does and stop trying to milk extra privileges with the whole “but I could be potentially dead/maimed/scarred look at my sacrifice!” shit. If it actually happened to you, my sympathies and I hope your mate appreciate it. If it didn’t happen to you, then you’re basically doing a female-exclusive version of stolen valor.

You are also seeing a disproportionate number of lower-ranked men who are having trouble dealing with what at least seems like a reemergence of natural female sexual selectivity in a society that screams at them that being sexually desirable is the primary criterion for human value. And it's not just about sex, but about intimacy and family, too. The alternative and older message is that having a family and being a father and husband are the primary criteria for being a valued member of society.

These men are somewhat understandably (but not justifiably) seeing woman as the judge, jury and executioners of their essential value as human beings. They are also not fond of the higher end men who to their mind have it all. But the hatred of 'Chad' is mitigated by the fact that some of them can at least dream of being 'Chad'.

It's important to try to understand where these types of guys are coming from, even if they get some things fundamentally wrong. Ultimately, there is no inherent disdain for women. Deep down they love women but just don't know it. They are twisted up by range and disappointment. They weren't prepared for this reality.

Don't get me wrong, there are other types too who also don't sufficiently appreciate women. There are many women here who don't sufficiently appreciate men. Or at least this is true of the online personas of men and women here who have been in the internet gender wars too long. But none of this necessarily indicates a true innate disdain for men or women. Prolonged combat of any kind makes you start to see only the worst sides of your adversary.

It's important work but not particularly difficult. It's not the sort of endeavor that engenders respect.

Rearing kids is like building and maintaining water mains and sewers. It's essential work but not the type of thing that garners respect.

This is pretty much radical feminism in a nutshell.

Do you know why feminism -and especially radical feminism- "works" so well? Because it offers you a bunch of easy (as in "lazy") explanations for all the problems, difficulties, frustrations, etc. you may experience as a woman.

Unfortunately, the amount of time and effort it takes to take a person out of that cult is way beyond a CMV post. Hell, it's so difficult that most non-feminists -men and women- don't even try to do such a thing.

That said, I agree that there is also a lot of easy/lazy/wrong arguments against feminism, which is something that doesn't help at all. In order to find some truth in this whole conversation, you'll have to listen to the signal and ignore the noise.

This is a good starting point: Men are not a hive mind.

FDSers literally make fake accounts from which they harass their own members and then they tell them that men are doing it to prove them how men are bad. LOL
