It's actually a big deal to get into a relationship with someone tbh. The problem is when you see good looking guys without any issue all of the time because it's not possible that they all have good personalities. Most people are normal and at the end of the day there has to be something that causes people to bond. if not it would just be a free for all. We all probably internalise our level over many years I think a problem of the modern generation is that by retreating into the online world and relying on porn and OLD it has skewed what we think our level is. If nothing is possible(little matches, little romances) then everything is possible. The teeange years probably socialise us into the type of partners/daters we will be. If you don't experience this then you never develop a reference point.

The more options you have, the harder it is to make a decision and the more picky you get.

I used to drive an ice cream truck in high school (cue comments about me being a creep, I'm here for it).

When we expanded our menu to include a ton of comic characters and multiple flavors of items that used to just have one flavor, it started to take both children and adults much longer to make a selection and I noticed them expressing more frustration with their decision. They were also more likely to make a selection and change their mind as I was grabbing it out of the freezer.

There have also been scientific studies on this but I'm too lazy to post them.

But the day to day life experience of an average woman is not like being some super hop content creator or influencer.

This kind of thinking is based on assumptions that may not be, nor may never have been, true. For one, the idea that it is somehow natural for most men and women to pair up, in any environment.

It is possible that by women's natural standards, most men have been undesirable by their female partners throughout history. And while the men provided benefits, those benefits are less now. Thus, they no longer compensate for the cost of having to sleep with men women find unattractive. And this is not factoring in the other possible negatives of being with men due to male nature, such as being exploited for labor by male laziness, being beaten, etc.

I think there is a pretty big misunderstanding here about that is actually being said and how you are interpreting it. You expressed that it is that women will accept any dude's honest attempts so long as he is respectful and so on. But this really fails to understand the nuance of relationships as a whole and their formation. Someone here already mentioned the differing views on what is desirable, what is exactly something worthwhile and what is not. But you have lots more to also consider in why what you described isn't exactly correct.

Firstly, just because you give someone positive attention and express your desire doesn't mean you'll get a yes. The pursuit or approach itself demonstrates a lot about you, not just in its respectful, but if you're interesting as well. If its comedic or not, how its comedic, how you expressed yourself, so on.

But also the situational information involved on top of that. Were you friends before? How did you meet? What are both your life circumstances at the moment? As in things like what is on both your plates? Is she already taken? Focusing on other things? How long have you known one another? Have you been disrespectful before? What were previous encounters like? Lots of things factor in.

It isn't cut and dry, and it certainly isn't simple. People are really complex. Like I said this doesn't even fully account for preferences in appearance, etiquette, personality, hobbies and so on. It gets simplified down when expressed because even I shortened it down, its so long that it tends to get lost in translation anyways. Or a lot of it just is assumed along with it.

I will preface my response by saying that if people like OP spent even half of the time they are spending bashing women and telling them how terrible they are to like what they like in actually figuring out how to become attractive males themselves, they would be getting laid left and right and not posting dumb shit on this sub.

Now my response to your post. As is typical for both men and women, you are projecting your own sexuality and arousal mechanism onto women and expect that women operate the exact same way as men.

The average man needs a combination of two magical criteria in order to become sufficiently aroused and ready to have sex. Note, I said aroused, not merely "attracted". That combination is:

A woman who is attractive enough (a standard that changes depending on how horny and desperate you are) 2 a woman who appears willing.

That's it! So men take this and project it onto women thusly: "If I were a hot girl, everybody would be willing and certainly some of these guys would be good looking enough. And since women aren't having sex with multiple men every single minute of their lives, it must mean that their standards are so insanely high that only 0.000001% of men can meet them."

But this couldn't be further from the truth. Because for every claim you make of a woman having a ton of choices, you also admit that she is usually not single, so her standards can't be that high that she isn't finding someone. But even if that were so, what about the women who complain that they can't find anyone?

Well, women get aroused in a very different way than men do. Being attractive looking and willing are not enough or they don't even feature into their arousal threshold. Instead women want to be intrigued, have an emotional tension with a man, be made to laugh and connect with him before they start feeling their pussy tingles. Again, things that a man does not require to feel aroused. For a man, these criteria would merely be "nice to haves". For a woman, they are a must. The same way for a woman "good looking enough and willing" are nice to haves.

Finally, ask yourself how many men you really know who can create the above feelings in a woman? How many men are confident enough to be themselves, to create emotional tension, to connect with her without pushing for sex or pretending to be something they are not. You assume that a man who hands his balls to a woman is attractive because he is attractive looking, but to a woman a man who is ready to sacrifice himself is as arousing as watching hemorrhoid surgery. Hopefully, it will become very painfully apparent to you that the men who can easily arouse women are so few and far in between, that they get consumed almost immediately if they happened to be single.

It's not that they are picky per say it's that they deal with two main problems they

A.) Have massive amount of great choices earlier on. This can lead to choice paralysis due to too many options incentivizing her to hold out for the best possible deal

B.) Single life is great for women because they have the freedom to use their massive SMV to extract maximum concessions from the sexual market place so a prospective mate has to be beneficial enough to reach parity with the benefit of being able to smash whoever you want whenever you want. Yea maybe she can pressure a potential mate into one sided polyamory but that wont become a significant factor until the dating market becomes much worse for men down the years.

Even then the average quality of dude willing accept that arrangement is probably going to be lower then average. And if she wants to consolidate on a desirable dude IE.) Has options that shit probably won't fly.

This creates the impression that the average guy is somehow bringing a lot less the table then the average woman which wouldnt make statistical sense over a large enough group. Maybe a vast portion of those attractive desireable men are not mentally or emotionally compatible with us. Maybe they disrespect us or they have weird political views or treat us badly. I would never get into a relationship just because someones conventionally attractive because a couple months down the line i may find them unbearable to be around

A mental practice I like to do when someone states something as fact, is put the phrase "I think" or "I feel like" in front of their sentence. It helps me recognize when they're stating their experience as fact unintentionally.

Women don't by and large say there's no good options. Men don't by and large throw themselves at women hoping for a morsel of companionship. Half of all women and more than half of all men are currently married. So technically, if you're not married, you're already in the minority of people.

OP, I'm going to take a wild guess that you're in your early to mid twenties. If so, you should know that the behavior you're describing is pretty predictable at those ages. People say and do all sorts of nonsense while they're figuring out their adult selves. It's part of growing up. People will say things like "men are trash" because the emotional intelligence to say "I'm going through some things and am currently angry at a number of men" just isn't there yet.

Women who say they have "no good options" are really saying either:

none of my options are satisfactory
I can't decide among the options that I have available

Either way, it's a personal problem. Don't take what they say to heart. They're projecting their experience onto a whole lot of people they couldn't possibly understand. There's over 7 billion people on this planet, and they've probably have intimate connections with maybe a few dozen of them? They're out of touch with the big picture, and so probably are you. And that's okay - like I said, it's a part of growing up. We all go through it. But it does end, your peers will mature, and if you proactively build your social network well, you can find a lot of like-minded people.

The number of men and women is on par or women slightly outnumber men in certain demographics or in some areas. And attractive/desirable people never make the majority regardless of the gender. Hence you cannot have many above average or even average men for each woman.

Of course women have lots of options, but they consider only very few of these as good or even valid.

The sheer assumption of this sentence is mind boggling. The reason we say there are no good options is because there are no good options. Periodt. The 'desirable men' as you say may not be as desirable to women. And men behave differently with women thta they do with women. This thread is incredibly naive. You should’ve learned from roe v. Wade that decision for women to sleep with is extremely important. This person could possibly end up the father of my children. If my standards are high it’s for a good reason. Getting in a relationship isn’t easy for women.

Newsflash: Women who say this are never 21.

The problem is that average looking young women can get attention and sex from male 8/9/10s. However, as they reach their late 20s, they find out they cannot lock these men down for LTRs.

So now they have a very high expectation that cannot be met.

Fast-forward 5 more years, and the men that they thought were 'beneath' them when they were 21 don't even want them anymore. Because those guys are now 35, have a good career, more confidence, social skills and status, and are now looking for women that are still in their 20s.

When they say there are no 'good options', what they are really saying is that they no longer have access to the quality of options that were once available to them.
