I'm not going to say all men do this, because they don't, but a lot of social spheres of men see hygiene, dressing well, getting a good haircut, as gay or unmanly. I've seen so many straight dudes wear a sweat-pitted shirt to go out to a nice dinner with their girlfriend, who was dressed in a cocktail dress.

A lot of men, in general, on reddit, complain that women don't like them, that they're ugly, whatever. I don't think most of u are inherently ugly, to be honest, I think uglifying yourself via your personal hygiene and grooming is a real deterrent. It tells people you aren't socially aware and makes people less likely to want to approach you.

I have a friend who is tall, attractive, but has really horrible luck with women, and honestly, I think because he has a really horrid haircut, and always weird white socks, women stay away from him.

While women know how to post pictures on dating apps where they look flattering, even go as far as editing them, men do the opposite. Men regularly post inappropriately close photos that look predatory/uncomfortable, they look angry, enormous group photos where no one knows which one they are (this screams insecurity, like you're going to bring all 24 of your best friends on a date), pictures from weird angles, yeah. Even if you don't look ugly in a weird photo, if you look strange and socially unaware, you aren't going to get matches. Women are biologically conditioned to stay away from you

When I was on dating apps it was hard to find men that even looked normal. Literally, just get a decent haircut. Have a pleasant smile. Wear a normal, plain shirt. Have a photo with normal lighting. SOMEONE will match with you
