Many times on PPD you hear men announcing that they or many other men are walking away to developing countries where the women there treat them better.

These men may be hoping that women are so distraught by the thought of men leaving them that these women will get on their knees and beg men to stay, promising to treat them better, do all domestic duties, provide sex on demand etc.

However, we all know that threatening to walk away is a common negotiation tactic. When men announce that they will go to developing counties, is this just a fake threat used as an attempted negotiation tactic? That is, are men just bluffing?

Many men in developed countries seem to stay where they are. They don't seem to move.

Another reason to suspect that this is a fake threat used as a negotiating tactic is that many times the party walking away ends up walking back. In another thread a man said he and many other men are going to developing countries to marry traditional foreign women. A local woman responded basically saying good riddance because if these men export themselves and marry foreign women, local women can simply import foreign men via immigration. The man seemed offended by this and attacked the woman. From this reaction it is clear that the man was just threatening to walk away as a bargaining technique without any intention of following through. It was merely a bluff.

It's like the trope of the young child packing up their belongings and announcing to everyone in the family that they are running away when in reality everyone in the family knows they will come back.
