• Too uneven dating market values: Women can now get tons of compliments online on a daily basis and have dozens of guys sliding in their DMs. That said, those DMs are lower quality and more non-committal than if guys still had to ask girls out in person. Now they can send the same DM to hundreds of girls.

  • Porn: It's easy for young men to fall into porn addiction where they lose their energy and vigor and reinforce the view to see women as sex objects

  • Distortion of standards: On the internet you can regularly see the most beautiful and perfect people, leading you to think those are legitimate expectations for a partner

  • Lack of social repercussions for misbehavior in dating: Since dating is mostly online now it's easier to get away with things like cheating and ghosting for example since you don't necessarily share a social circle

  • Hyperfixation on looks and status symbols: On dating apps and social media you can only really judge someone by their looks so these qualities have become disproportionately important compared to other traits

That said, this isn't intended to be a rant. The internet has caused many problems but it also offers vast resources and knowledge to deal with these issues on a personal level.

What do you think?
