Media literacy is the ability to accurately critically, analyze, evaluate, assess, intuit, and comprehend forms of media and communication including written text, phrases, letters, stories, literature, books, plays, TV shows, movies, lyrics, speeches, etc.

Every day the global news and/or the local news (literally wherever you live) reports an incident of a father, husband, brother, boyfriend, male ex,or male school peer raging out and assaulting or murdering a female in his life. We rarely hear incidents of female perps doing the same to male victims.

I bring this up to preemptively counter any “women are weird for observing reality happening around them and feeling a way about it” gaslighting deflections.

Thus, the whole “I choose the bear” thing was a collective venting protest against the frustration girls and women feel about the relentless violative and violent behaviors boys and men tend to perpetrate.

Women weren’t being “irrational.” They were being hyperbolic and allegorical to make this obvious point:

​A random bear alone in the woods with a woman is far more predictable and less violative than a stranger man alone in the woods with a woman is likely to be.

That was the point. Full stop.
