Will Smith didn't do anything wrong, our society has changed at an astounding pace but our brains and hormonal physiology are the exact same as they were 200,000 years ago.

Chris Rock mocked and berated a man's wife in front of hundreds of people, Will Smith in that moment chose to defend her honor and dignity above all else.

Again, it might be difficult to understand looking through a modern cultural lense, but he behaved exactly how men are hardwired to behave. The moment he saw how that joke hurt her he was compelled to action.

I’m still skeptical.

1). Will Smith and Chris rock have known each other for decades. The Hollywood community is small. Even smaller for them.

2). Will laughs before slapping Chris Rock.

3). Chris Rock puts his hands behind his back and leans into the smack. Afterwards he continues with his jokes and calls it “the greatest moment in television”.

4). The Oscar proceeds as normal. Will is seen dancing and taking pictures with his family.

5). He slaps Chris Rock of all people. If he slapped Amy Schumer that would have been bad or any of the other 20 presenters.

6). Chris Rock says he’s going on tour after 5 years on his Twitter. He announced it last week. He probably won’t say anything. You have to find out what happened when you buy his tickets to his tour show in august. Marketing 101.

As a person working in the TV/Film industry - Wills got to go.

To not remove him completely from the community invites more of the same behavior and condones his actions.

It's not ok to simply decide you dont like the target of a comedians joke, assault the comedian, and yell out threats and profanity. That isn't how the industry has or can be allowed to operate.

The Academy needs to take a zero tolerance stance on this as they would if it were a random guy that did it.

Wow all the money and professional success in the world... and Will looked so small, so weak. He's not happy, nor living his best life.

It's hard to feel "sorry" for a fellow man that is soooo rich, the world being his oyster for soooo long.

He seems mentally unstable and cowardly. First the calm walk up stage that doesn't seem threatening at all, then the unexpected bitch slap and lastly the hasty retreat back to his seat where he yells across the room whilst surrounded by people. Not only did he assault someone over a joke like some chest pounding dumb ape, he needed the element of surprise to do it.

Here is something very interesting. Apparently Chris Rock has a Non-Verbal Learning Disability, which is apparently very similar to aspergers.

I know they are in an open relationship so she never “cheated.”

But Will kept his dalliances under wraps for the most part.

She chose to have sex with the guy they took in as a young adult foster kid/ friend of their kids’.

He viewed them as surrogate parents. Expressed he’s never experienced love and family and stability like that. Developed a crush on Jada. Admits he pretty aggressively pursued her. But she could have erected some boundaries.

So now he falls in love with her and wants to tell the whole world and suddenly after years and years of having a quiet open marriage their shit is public discourse because she had no discernment here.

Anyway, will slapped Chris because he was tired of being called a “cuck” by social media. Chris took the fall for a lot of other angst Will’s been feeling imo.

It was pure ego / ‘emasculation.’

That said I get emotions were high. This was supposed to be a celebratory family night. Their family does look great though!

Does this just prove that "equality" is one great big fat lie that people (mainly women) use to virtue signal to get what they want? If an average guy did that, security would have thrown him out immediately and he would have been fined or thrown into jail. Equality does not exist. People get treated differently depending on who they are, what they look like, how wealthy or famous they are.

The dynamics of this couple isn’t too familiar to me, but I ended up watching their interviews and I feel bad for them, especially Will. It would break my heart to see my husband as sad as Will. His violent behavior is unacceptable, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t feel empathy for him in other situations.

regardless of everything i think this is how the oscars will try to gain back its audience in the future. hollywood has no shame and no one cares about award shows anymore. outbursts and incidents like this will get shoved into the oscars like wrestling plot lines and people will tune into the oscars to see what incident will take place. everyone is talking about this, if i'm thinking about it they most likely already thought about it too

Comedians have been getting silenced for the last 10 years. Dave Chapelle, Ricky Gervais, Bill Burr. Will Smith slapping Chris Rock signifies something bigger than "defending his wife's honor". It's believing that your opinion matters more than everyone else's, and shoving that opinion down everyone's throat. You don't like a joke and you want to make sure everyone knows it. And nobody is more fitting of "the poster family for humorless" than the Smiths.
