Want to date someone in their social circle because they don't trust our feel comfortable around most guys. Basically, you have to get into the correct social groups. You can proactively be more social to improve the odds, but part of that is luck.
Some young women have no idea what their "worth" is on the dating market. She's young and inexperienced and doesn't realize that she has lots of options. She might also have low confidence, which is common for young people. In her mind, maybe she sees herself as skinny and awkward and doesn't know what to say in social situations. I've heard that a lot of models are horribly insecure and self critical. Usually, in their 20s, women get a better sense of her actual value in the dating market.

For the getting laid part well that’s a little more complicated but the important this is that we men are very rational, women instead are very emotional. The trick is that they need to feel that you like them, women will also be very aware of you behavioral traits (being respectful, well educated, kind).

It's not a revelation as to why. Some men are really good guys and have a ton of personality. And women like them for things beyond looks. But too many men live with this stereotype that women are shallow and would never date men who are average or less attractive and that if they do, he has money. Which is a load of bullshit. Women aren't just obsessed with looks and money.

Conventionally unattractive men with really attractive girls doesn't always mean the two are dating, I was very unattractive working with super models in LA and sometimes guys kinda looked at me weird. Also, just because a beautiful girl is fucking with a nerdy dude doesn't mean that it will last or that it is common, I know girls that have dated guys just because the guy asked and she said yes only to break up with him after (like the meme "gave an ugly guy a chance"). Ugly man dating beautiful woman is uncommon, but the more attraction triggers you hit with women the better the chance you will have at dating. So if ugly man brings more to the table he might have more success, but he will still struggle because he is ugly (compared to a guy that isn't ugly)
