Unhappy marriages are mostly seen as the result of weak and loser husbands while happy wives are attributed to manly features in their partners.

Women are the main people constantly choosing or rejecting men as mates and judging them for their masculinity. As such, women are the main enforcers of toxic masculinity.

There are many things I agree with feminists on, but my main point of disagreement is that it isn't just men who enforce gender roles. Women do so as well, to the same degree and sometimes even more.

I've heard a lot more slut shaming and body shaming from women than I have from men. And being an emotionally sensitive person, I've been told to man up more often from women. In terms of raw numbers of sexual partners, the most successful men I've seen are losers and lowlifes.

But also, consider this; "toxic femininity", where women excessively emphasize their attractiveness and act subservient to men, is also because men traditionally selected for that. It is in the nature of both men and women to select for certain things, on average, and this is what women naturally like. It is, like any other primitive monkey-brain baggage, something that people have to work to keep at a manageable level; countless men have been miserable with a stupid bimbo wife who puts all the responsibility on his shoulders, and countless women have wound up miserable with various degrees of assholes. But at the same time, it IS natural, even unavoidable; dominants seek submissives, and most men are more dom, while submissives seek dominants, and most women are submissive (again, on average). Every person needs to figure out which they are, and then work to be the best whatever they can be, just like with anything else in life. And yes, 99.99% of us will not be the actual best, we will envy others, and also we will not get "the best" mates, in such shallow terms--this is, again, normal, and like everything else in life. But you don't need to "get the best", nor do you need to be the best; you just need to be good enough to be respectable and attractive to a person who matches you, not checks off boxes on some social list.

Before anyone tries to call me a pick me, it’s true. If we actually want to eradicate the roots of toxic masculinity, we also need to acknowledge that women are just as responsible for contributing to the problem as men are. Many women truly do love and appreciate emotional men, and want to see more men embracing their emotions and feeling confident in who they are and able to express themselves freely and healthily. However for whatever reason, many other women also see it as a sign of weakness which simply just can’t be further from the truth and I think those women have a lot of unhealed wounds to address from their own personal experiences and baggage.

For YEARS, men (patriarchal society), told women to look for certain things in men (physical attributes, wealth, status) and told men to look for certain things in women (physical attributes, housekeeper, complacent) etc. These ideologies/expectations have been passed down to generations for centuries, so children grow up & struggle to find a healthy partner as adults.

7.7 billion people cannot want the same things. And if they were never taught a healthy, normal way to look for love, they end up confused, lost, & lonely.
