When were in the process to adopt a child we had so many meetings with social workers (all female) where they only spoke with and looked at my wife. I often thought I might as well not have been there. I felt like an appendage. Sometimes I’d try and get their attention by leaning over towards them or my wife to try and show that I was there but to no avail. Interrupting or trying to wedge my thoughts into a meeting just made me look like an overbearing mansplainer. There was one meeting in the course of 2 years where a male social worker was present and just his presence changed the entire dynamic. It was no longer a womens meeting and my voice was easily heard.

Women completely dominate the social work sector and I’m pretty sure that it’s not good for anyone particularly older boys who need to be heard and have positive male interaction.

Just this morning I was walking in a parking lot to my car. I slipped between two cars and this woman was trying to come the other way. We got there @ almost the same time but I was a fraction of a second ahead of her.

I didn't yield I just kept walking, she was forced to stop and move to the side. I could tell she was so angry 😠 she had to wait 1.5 seconds for me. Afterwards I remember thinking "why was she so upset? Was it really because she had to wait for me?"🤔 It dumbfounded me a bit but I was sure that was the reason.

I worked as a server back in my teens in the south. We were told to take orders from female guests first. It is manners there. I did have a bunch of customers not tip becuase I was a dude. They got shitty service next time they came in from all of us. Had one guy try and berate me. Basically they guy followed me around from 3 different restaurants and would try and ruin my day. Eventually, he got banned. As far as the ignoring, I've had experiences where I've been in a group and have been totally ignored by the females when I try and spoke. That always hurts. What hurts even more is when they would yell to drowned me out. I have a coworker that was talking about this in her social life and and our other coworkers reemed her out. I then talked about it and she changed after that. I think a lot of this behavoir can come from a place of ignorance. And as much as I hate to say it, I do have faith in a persons ability to change, even as an adult.
