As far as I can tell, this is not pure preference data. Rather, a messenger's perception of whether they can land a person or would be feel OK being with them etc. is all baked in.

A fat guy may prefer thin women, but he feels he has a better chance with overweight women. An overweight woman may feel most attracted to a thin man, but many would feel embarrassed getting naked with someone whose body is so much better. Etc. Etc.

At this point I don’t think it is rude for fit men who accidentally match with overweight women that they should be looking for men in their weight class instead of trying to waste people’s time.

I was chatting with a fairly overweight woman (I still found her attractive) on tinder for a bit and I mentioned that my sister was married to a wealthy man and she lives in a big house. She literally asked me if he had any friends. I just laughed it off but frankly I should have showed her pictures of what some of their wives looked like and told her “Not gonna happen”

I think OP's conclusions are slightly incorrect.

Generally overweight people prefer overweight partners, and regular (non overweight) people prefer regular partners.
The largest preference gap confirming the general rule is the desire for regular weight people of either gender REALLY want a regular white partner as well. There's also a moderate preference for regular men preferring a regular latina partner and overweight men wanting an overweight latina partner.
The exceptions to the general rule are a moderate preference for overweight people to prefer a regular weight asian partner.

So skinny white people are the most desirable and overweight asians are the least desirable (relative to regular asians).

None of that is rocket science, and it's quite different from the false conclusions that OP reaches (e.g. "Overweight women are the pickiest with regards to weight, strongly preferring non-overweight partners", when really they only have the tiniest preference for regular men, being basically balanced in their preference).

Overweight women are still less picky about the weight of white men than non-owerweight. It doesn't help than scale is different between graphs and that they are normalized to 1.0 probability of messaging white people of their own type for each group. It would be more interesting to see absolute numbers.

This is dumb when you notice that the preference overweight women have for non-overweight men is very slim for the most part.

You have a better chance as an overweight white men to be liked by an overweight women than by non-overweight woman.

I've been fat and relatively fit. Didn't notice a difference personally. I think a lot of average height guys just let themselves go cuz it doesn't really matter.

If I have to stay fit just to date a fat girl, then I'll stay fat. Seems like a no-brainer.

Fat women just have to date whoever is desperate enough to date them just like men who are under 6 foot get settled for.

Overweight women have a slight preference for healthy weight men but will still respond to overweight men at a reasonable rate ( if he's white).

It is pointless because of the different mentality involved with initiating and responding. An overweight man as the initiator has to think pragmatically about who is likely to respond. An overweight woman doesn't; the interest is already given.

A valid comparison would be like with like (i.e initiating messages from both sexes)

Anyway, not surprised, every overweight woman I see with a partner is a non overweight guy... My weight is mostly ok so I won't complain but it's always amazing to see these non sensical/hypocritical preferences from women...I suppose it's due to her own insecurities that she prefers non overweight to mask the fact she is overweight herself??? To avoid being a 'fat couple'?? Dunno...why is this happening?
