If it makes you feel any better I went through a similar journey from an average man to a well above average, quite attractive man. The difference in how I am treated by almost every woman I interact with is night and day.

I don't think there is much difference in how men and women treat each other, in heavily favoring attractive people. I just experience how women treat men so I feel it more acutely. I believe it's similar for women because of accounts like yours.

I still believe in love and I know that I want to experience love and commitment to the extent that I believe is possible. We just have to accept that people are shallow first. Something deeper can grow later.

I'd go as far as to say a lot of men barely even register unattractive women. So if a guy is at a social event with a roughly 50/50 split, except all the women are ugly, they're likely to come out saying "wow that was a sausagefest."

There was a test done I think I'll find it if you ask but they showed men pictures of unattractive women and they recorded their brain response and men would get angry when they were looking at unattractive women and they did the same to women but their brains just kinda ignored them.

It's unclear to me that men treat unattractive women worse than women treat unattractive men, at least compared to attractive people of the given gender.

But it does seem clear that women view far more men as truly unattractive than the other way around.

For a women to not be considered attractive she has to be fat, be lazy I ln her presentation/ appearance, or rare case scenario have a deformity or scar but that's a exemption.

Basicly the way a girl is unattractive is on her fault besides the scar or deformities but that's a exemption.

In my experience I’m not sure this is a man to woman thing, as much as it is human to human. I’ve seen this behavior both ways and even in non romantic settings. People just don’t like unaesthetic people nearly as much. Of course it’s no excuse to treat people poorly, but generally speaking that’s how most everyone’s brains work by default and you have to make the decision to ignore bias.

I understand both sides fully but I’m more or less indifferent to it because I never had that problem as a guy. It just comes with having consistent options, and those aren’t hard to maintain unless you’re like ass hole ugly or totally socially awkward.

I've been very unattractive during my teens and I can confirm that the best treatment I got from people (both genders) was ignorance at best. It did not seem like a gender thing, but a human thing. Today I am something between average and attractive and people treat me much better. But there is also the thing that as you grow up, people in your social circle are likely around your age, so they are growing up as well and becoming more mature in their behaviour. I think it doesn't help anyone when we just blame the opposite gender for such things.

Pretty privilege. It happens to both sexes, but for the sake of discussion, we'll talk about men here. Men give attractive women more leeway and more preferential treatment because they find them attractive. Women they don't find attractive get the basic decency anyone else would get. What you're seeing/experiencing is men treating you how he would treat the average person in most situations, which looks mean to you because you witness men treat pretty girls differently. Tldr: Men are sometimes nicer to women they find attractive, and let them get away with more faults and offenses than they would normally tolerate. Attractive people, both men and women, are allowed to get away with more.

I agree in that I call unattractive women "women"", but I'll call attractive women "girls". This is because I associate the word "women" with old and not a potential sex partner and the word "girl" with the opposite. I'm not very subtle when flirting and treat unattractive women basically as another man. Unattractive women don't get any special treatment.
